Ayah 104:1
وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُّمَزَةٍ
وَيْلٌ

Woe to every scorner and mocker

Ayah 104:2
ٱلَّذِى جَمَعَ مَالًا وَعَدَّدَهُۥ
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
The one who
جَمَعَ
jamaʿa
collects
مَالًا
mālan
wealth
وَعَدَّدَهُۥ
waʿaddadahu
and counts it
Who collects wealth and [continuously] counts it.1

104:3
Ayah 104:3
يَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُۥٓ أَخْلَدَهُۥ
يَحْسَبُ
yaḥsabu
Thinking
أَنَّ
anna
that
مَالَهُۥٓ
mālahu
his wealth
أَخْلَدَهُۥ
akhladahu
will make him immortal
He thinks that his wealth will make him immortal.

104:4
Ayah 104:4
كَلَّا ۖ لَيُنۢبَذَنَّ فِى ٱلْحُطَمَةِ
كَلَّا
kallā
Nay
لَيُنۢبَذَنَّ
layunbadhanna
Surely he will be thrown
فِى
fī
in
ٱلْحُطَمَةِ
l-ḥuṭamati
the Crusher
No! He will surely be thrown into the Crusher.1

104:5
Ayah 104:5
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحُطَمَةُ
وَمَآ

And what
أَدْرَىٰكَ

will make you know

ٱلْحُطَمَةُ

the Crusher (is)
And what can make you know what is the Crusher?

Ayah 104:6
نَارُ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُوقَدَةُ
نَارُ
nāru
A Fire
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
ٱلْمُوقَدَةُ
l-mūqadatu
kindled
It is the fire of Allāh, [eternally] fueled,

Ayah 104:7
ٱلَّتِى تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى ٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةِ
ٱلَّتِى
allatī
Which
تَطَّلِعُ
taṭṭaliʿu
mounts up
عَلَى
ʿalā
to
ٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةِ
l-afidati
the hearts
Which mounts directed at the hearts.1

104:8
Ayah 104:8
إِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِم مُّؤْصَدَةٌ
إِنَّهَا
innahā
Indeed, it
عَلَيْهِم
ʿalayhim
(will be) upon them
مُّؤْصَدَةٌ
mu'ṣadatun
closed over
Indeed, it [i.e., Hellfire] will be closed down upon them
