Ayah 105:1
أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْفِيلِ
أَلَمْ

بِأَصْحَـٰبِ

with (the) Companions
ٱلْفِيلِ

(of the) Elephant
Have you not considered, [O Muḥammad], how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant?1

105:2
Ayah 105:2
أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِى تَضْلِيلٍ
أَلَمْ

Did not
يَجْعَلْ

Did He not make their plan into misguidance?1

Ayah 105:3
وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ
وَأَرْسَلَ
wa-arsala
And He sent
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
against them
طَيْرًا
ṭayran
birds
أَبَابِيلَ
abābīla
(in) flocks
And He sent against them birds in flocks,

105:4
Ayah 105:4
تَرْمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٍ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ
تَرْمِيهِم
tarmīhim
Striking them
بِحِجَارَةٍ
biḥijāratin
with stones
مِّن

سِجِّيلٍ
sijjīlin
baked clay
Striking them with stones of hard clay,

Ayah 105:5
فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَّأْكُولٍۭ
فَجَعَلَهُمْ
fajaʿalahum
Then He made them
كَعَصْفٍ
kaʿaṣfin
like straw
مَّأْكُولٍۭ
makūlin
eaten up
And He made them like eaten straw.1
