15:1
Ayah 15:1
الٓر ۚ تِلْكَ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَقُرْءَانٍ مُّبِينٍ
الٓر
alif-lam-ra
Alif Laam Ra
تِلْكَ
til'ka
These
ءَايَـٰتُ
āyātu
(are) the Verses
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
l-kitābi
(of) the Book
وَقُرْءَانٍ
waqur'ānin
and Quran
مُّبِينٍ
mubīnin
clear
Alif, Lām, Rā.1 These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur’ān [i.e., recitation].

15:2
Ayah 15:2
رُّبَمَا يَوَدُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ مُسْلِمِينَ
رُّبَمَا
rubamā
Perhaps
يَوَدُّ
yawaddu
will wish
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieved
لَوْ
law
if
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they had been
مُسْلِمِينَ
mus'limīna
Muslims
Perhaps those who disbelieve will wish1 that they had been Muslims.

15:3
Ayah 15:3
ذَرْهُمْ يَأْكُلُوا۟ وَيَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ وَيُلْهِهِمُ ٱلْأَمَلُ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
ذَرْهُمْ
dharhum
Leave them
يَأْكُلُوا۟
yakulū
(to) eat
وَيَتَمَتَّعُوا۟
wayatamattaʿū
and enjoy
وَيُلْهِهِمُ
wayul'hihimu
and diverted them
ٱلْأَمَلُ
l-amalu
the hope
فَسَوْفَ
fasawfa
then soon
يَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūna
they will come to know
Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know.

15:4
Ayah 15:4
وَمَآ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابٌ مَّعْلُومٌ
وَمَآ
wamā
And not
أَهْلَكْنَا
ahlaknā
We destroyed
مِن
min
any
قَرْيَةٍ
qaryatin
town
إِلَّا
illā
but
وَلَهَا
walahā
(there was) for it
كِتَابٌ
kitābun
a decree
مَّعْلُومٌ
maʿlūmun
known
And We did not destroy any city but that for it was a known decree.

15:5
Ayah 15:5
مَّا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ
مَّا
mā
Not
تَسْبِقُ
tasbiqu
(can) advance
مِنْ
min
any
أُمَّةٍ
ummatin
nation
أَجَلَهَا
ajalahā
its term
وَمَا
wamā
and not
يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ
yastakhirūna
(can) delay it
No nation will precede its term, nor will they remain thereafter.

15:6
Ayah 15:6
وَقَالُوا۟ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِى نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلذِّكْرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجْنُونٌ
وَقَالُوا۟
waqālū
And they say
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
yāayyuhā
O you
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
(to) whom
نُزِّلَ
nuzzila
has been sent down
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhi
[on him]
ٱلذِّكْرُ
l-dhik'ru
the Reminder
إِنَّكَ
innaka
indeed, you
لَمَجْنُونٌ
lamajnūnun
(are) surely mad
And they say, "O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad.1

15:7
Ayah 15:7
لَّوْ مَا تَأْتِينَا بِٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
لَّوْ
law
Why
مَا
mā
not
تَأْتِينَا
tatīnā
you bring to us
بِٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ
bil-malāikati
the Angels
إِن
in
if
كُنتَ
kunta
you are
مِنَ
mina
of
ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
l-ṣādiqīna
the truthful
Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful?"

15:8
Ayah 15:8
مَا نُنَزِّلُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُوٓا۟ إِذًا مُّنظَرِينَ
مَا
mā
Not
نُنَزِّلُ
nunazzilu
We send down
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ
l-malāikata
the Angels
إِلَّا
illā
except
بِٱلْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqi
with the truth
وَمَا
wamā
and not
كَانُوٓا۟
kānū
they would be
إِذًا
idhan
then
مُّنظَرِينَ
munẓarīna
given respite
We do not send down the angels except with truth;1 and they [i.e., the disbelievers] would not then be reprieved.

15:9
Ayah 15:9
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا ٱلذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَـٰفِظُونَ
إِنَّا
innā
Indeed, We
نَحْنُ
naḥnu
We
نَزَّلْنَا
nazzalnā
have sent down
ٱلذِّكْرَ
l-dhik'ra
the Reminder
وَإِنَّا
wa-innā
and indeed, We
لَهُۥ
lahu
of it
لَحَـٰفِظُونَ
laḥāfiẓūna
(are) surely Guardians
Indeed, it is We who sent down the message [i.e., the Qur’ān], and indeed, We will be its guardian.

15:10
Ayah 15:10
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِى شِيَعِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And certainly
أَرْسَلْنَا
arsalnā
We (had) sent
مِن
min
before you
قَبْلِكَ
qablika
before you
فِى
fī
in
شِيَعِ
shiyaʿi
the sects
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
l-awalīna
(of) the former (people)
And We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, [O Muḥammad], among the sects of the former peoples.

15:11
Ayah 15:11
وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
وَمَا
wamā
And not
يَأْتِيهِم
yatīhim
came to them
مِّن
min
any
رَّسُولٍ
rasūlin
Messenger
إِلَّا
illā
but
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they did
بِهِۦ
bihi
at him
يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
yastahziūna
mock
And no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him.

15:12
Ayah 15:12
كَذَٰلِكَ نَسْلُكُهُۥ فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhālika
Thus
نَسْلُكُهُۥ
naslukuhu
We let it enter
فِى
fī
in
قُلُوبِ
qulūbi
(the) hearts
ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
l-muj'rimīna
(of) the criminals
Thus do We insert it [i.e., denial] into the hearts of the criminals.

15:13
Ayah 15:13
لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ ۖ وَقَدْ خَلَتْ سُنَّةُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
لَا
lā
Not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūna
they believe
بِهِۦ
bihi
in it
وَقَدْ
waqad
and verily
خَلَتْ
khalat
have passed
سُنَّةُ
sunnatu
the way(s)
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
l-awalīna
(of) the former (people)
They will not believe in it, while there has already occurred the precedent of the former peoples.

15:14
Ayah 15:14
وَلَوْ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِم بَابًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَظَلُّوا۟ فِيهِ يَعْرُجُونَ
وَلَوْ
walaw
And (even) if
فَتَحْنَا
fataḥnā
We opened
عَلَيْهِم
ʿalayhim
to them
بَابًا
bāban
a gate
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāi
the heaven
فَظَلُّوا۟
faẓallū
and they were to continue
فِيهِ
fīhi
therein
يَعْرُجُونَ
yaʿrujūna
(to) ascend
And [even] if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they continued therein to ascend,

15:15
Ayah 15:15
لَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتْ أَبْصَـٰرُنَا بَلْ نَحْنُ قَوْمٌ مَّسْحُورُونَ
لَقَالُوٓا۟
laqālū
They would surely say
إِنَّمَا
innamā
Only
سُكِّرَتْ
sukkirat
have been dazzled
أَبْصَـٰرُنَا
abṣārunā
our eyes
بَلْ
bal
Nay
نَحْنُ
naḥnu
we
قَوْمٌ
qawmun
(are) a people
مَّسْحُورُونَ
masḥūrūna
bewitched
They would say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we are a people affected by magic."

15:16
Ayah 15:16
وَلَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ بُرُوجًا وَزَيَّنَّـٰهَا لِلنَّـٰظِرِينَ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And verily
جَعَلْنَا
jaʿalnā
We have placed
فِى
fī
in
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāi
the heavens
بُرُوجًا
burūjan
constellations
وَزَيَّنَّـٰهَا
wazayyannāhā
and We have beautified it
لِلنَّـٰظِرِينَ
lilnnāẓirīna
for the observers
And We have placed within the heaven great stars and have beautified it for the observers.

15:17
Ayah 15:17
وَحَفِظْنَـٰهَا مِن كُلِّ شَيْطَـٰنٍ رَّجِيمٍ
وَحَفِظْنَـٰهَا
waḥafiẓ'nāhā
And We have protected it
مِن
min
from
كُلِّ
kulli
every
شَيْطَـٰنٍ
shayṭānin
devil
رَّجِيمٍ
rajīmin
accursed
And We have protected it from every devil expelled [from the mercy of Allāh]

15:18
Ayah 15:18
إِلَّا مَنِ ٱسْتَرَقَ ٱلسَّمْعَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌ مُّبِينٌ
إِلَّا
illā
Except
مَنِ
mani
(one) who
ٱسْتَرَقَ
is'taraqa
steals
ٱلسَّمْعَ
l-samʿa
the hearing
فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ
fa-atbaʿahu
then follows him
شِهَابٌ
shihābun
a burning flame
مُّبِينٌ
mubīnun
clear
Except one who steals a hearing and is pursued by a clear burning flame.

15:19
Ayah 15:19
وَٱلْأَرْضَ مَدَدْنَـٰهَا وَأَلْقَيْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ وَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ شَىْءٍ مَّوْزُونٍ
وَٱلْأَرْضَ
wal-arḍa
And the earth
مَدَدْنَـٰهَا
madadnāhā
We have spread it
وَأَلْقَيْنَا
wa-alqaynā
and [We] cast
فِيهَا
fīhā
therein
رَوَٰسِىَ
rawāsiya
firm mountains
وَأَنۢبَتْنَا
wa-anbatnā
and [We] caused to grow
فِيهَا
fīhā
therein
مِن
min
of
كُلِّ
kulli
every
شَىْءٍ
shayin
thing
مَّوْزُونٍ
mawzūnin
well-balanced
And the earth - We have spread it and cast therein firmly set mountains and caused to grow therein [something] of every well-balanced thing.

15:20
Ayah 15:20
وَجَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ فِيهَا مَعَـٰيِشَ وَمَن لَّسْتُمْ لَهُۥ بِرَٰزِقِينَ
وَجَعَلْنَا
wajaʿalnā
And We have made
لَكُمْ
lakum
for you
فِيهَا
fīhā
therein
مَعَـٰيِشَ
maʿāyisha
means of living
وَمَن
waman
and whom
لَّسْتُمْ
lastum
you are not
لَهُۥ
lahu
for him
بِرَٰزِقِينَ
birāziqīna
providers
And We have made for you therein means of living and [for] those for whom you are not providers.1

15:21
Ayah 15:21
وَإِن مِّن شَىْءٍ إِلَّا عِندَنَا خَزَآئِنُهُۥ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا بِقَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
وَإِن
wa-in
And not
مِّن
min
(is) any
شَىْءٍ
shayin
thing
إِلَّا
illā
but
عِندَنَا
ʿindanā
with Us
خَزَآئِنُهُۥ
khazāinuhu
(are) its treasures
وَمَا
wamā
and not
نُنَزِّلُهُۥٓ
nunazziluhu
We send it down
إِلَّا
illā
except
بِقَدَرٍ
biqadarin
in a measure
مَّعْلُومٍ
maʿlūmin
known
And there is not a thing but that with Us are its depositories, and We do not send it down except according to a known [i.e., specified] measure.

15:22
Ayah 15:22
وَأَرْسَلْنَا ٱلرِّيَـٰحَ لَوَٰقِحَ فَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَأَسْقَيْنَـٰكُمُوهُ وَمَآ أَنتُمْ لَهُۥ بِخَـٰزِنِينَ
وَأَرْسَلْنَا
wa-arsalnā
And We have sent
ٱلرِّيَـٰحَ
l-riyāḥa
the winds
لَوَٰقِحَ
lawāqiḥa
fertilizing
فَأَنزَلْنَا
fa-anzalnā
and We sent down
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāi
the sky
مَآءً
māan
water
فَأَسْقَيْنَـٰكُمُوهُ
fa-asqaynākumūhu
and We gave it to you to drink
وَمَآ
wamā
And not
أَنتُمْ
antum
you
لَهُۥ
lahu
of it
بِخَـٰزِنِينَ
bikhāzinīna
(are) retainers
And We have sent the fertilizing winds1 and sent down water from the sky and given you drink from it. And you are not its retainers.

15:23
Ayah 15:23
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ نُحْىِۦ وَنُمِيتُ وَنَحْنُ ٱلْوَٰرِثُونَ
وَإِنَّا
wa-innā
And indeed, We
لَنَحْنُ
lanaḥnu
surely [We]
نُحْىِۦ
nuḥ'yī
We give life
وَنُمِيتُ
wanumītu
and We cause death
وَنَحْنُ
wanaḥnu
and We
ٱلْوَٰرِثُونَ
l-wārithūna
(are) the Inheritors
And indeed, it is We who give life and cause death, and We are the Inheritor.1

15:24
Ayah 15:24
وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا ٱلْمُسْتَقْدِمِينَ مِنكُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا ٱلْمُسْتَـْٔخِرِينَ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And verily
عَلِمْنَا
ʿalim'nā
We know
ٱلْمُسْتَقْدِمِينَ
l-mus'taqdimīna
the preceding ones
مِنكُمْ
minkum
among you
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
and verily
عَلِمْنَا
ʿalim'nā
We know
ٱلْمُسْتَـْٔخِرِينَ
l-mus'takhirīna
the later ones
And We have already known the preceding [generations] among you, and We have already known the later [ones to come].

15:25
Ayah 15:25
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ
وَإِنَّ
wa-inna
And indeed
رَبَّكَ
rabbaka
your Lord
هُوَ
huwa
He
يَحْشُرُهُمْ
yaḥshuruhum
will gather them
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, He
حَكِيمٌ
ḥakīmun
(is) All-Wise
عَلِيمٌ
ʿalīmun
All-Knowing
And indeed, your Lord will gather them; indeed, He is Wise and Knowing.

15:26
Ayah 15:26
وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن صَلْصَـٰلٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And verily
خَلَقْنَا
khalaqnā
We created
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ
l-insāna
humankind
مِن
min
(out) of
صَلْصَـٰلٍ
ṣalṣālin
sounding clay
مِّنْ
min
from
حَمَإٍ
ḥama-in
black mud
مَّسْنُونٍ
masnūnin
altered
And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud.

15:27
Ayah 15:27
وَٱلْجَآنَّ خَلَقْنَـٰهُ مِن قَبْلُ مِن نَّارِ ٱلسَّمُومِ
وَٱلْجَآنَّ
wal-jāna
And the jinn
خَلَقْنَـٰهُ
khalaqnāhu
We created it
مِن
min
before
قَبْلُ
qablu
before
مِن
min
from
نَّارِ
nāri
fire
ٱلسَّمُومِ
l-samūmi
scorching
And the jinn We created before from scorching fire.

15:28
Ayah 15:28
وَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ إِنِّى خَـٰلِقٌۢ بَشَرًا مِّن صَلْصَـٰلٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
وَإِذْ
wa-idh
And when
قَالَ
qāla
your Lord said
رَبُّكَ
rabbuka
your Lord said
لِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ
lil'malāikati
to the Angels
إِنِّى
innī
Indeed, I
خَـٰلِقٌۢ
khāliqun
(will) create
بَشَرًا
basharan
a human being
مِّن
min
(out) of
صَلْصَـٰلٍ
ṣalṣālin
clay
مِّنْ
min
from
حَمَإٍ
ḥama-in
black mud
مَّسْنُونٍ
masnūnin
altered
And [mention, O Muḥammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud.

15:29
Ayah 15:29
فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُۥ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِى فَقَعُوا۟ لَهُۥ سَـٰجِدِينَ
فَإِذَا
fa-idhā
So, when
سَوَّيْتُهُۥ
sawwaytuhu
I have fashioned him
وَنَفَخْتُ
wanafakhtu
and [I] breathed
فِيهِ
fīhi
into him
مِن
min
of
رُّوحِى
rūḥī
My spirit
فَقَعُوا۟
faqaʿū
then fall down
لَهُۥ
lahu
to him
سَـٰجِدِينَ
sājidīna
prostrating
And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul,1 then fall down to him in prostration."

15:30
Ayah 15:30
فَسَجَدَ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ
فَسَجَدَ
fasajada
So prostrated
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ
l-malāikatu
the Angels
كُلُّهُمْ
kulluhum
all of them
أَجْمَعُونَ
ajmaʿūna
together
So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely,

15:31
Ayah 15:31
إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰٓ أَن يَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ
إِلَّآ
illā
Except
إِبْلِيسَ
ib'līsa
Iblis
أَبَىٰٓ
abā
He refused
أَن
an
to
يَكُونَ
yakūna
be
مَعَ
maʿa
with
ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ
l-sājidīna
those who prostrated
Except Iblees;1 he refused to be with those who prostrated.

15:32
Ayah 15:32
قَالَ يَـٰٓإِبْلِيسُ مَا لَكَ أَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ
قَالَ
qāla
He said
يَـٰٓإِبْلِيسُ
yāib'līsu
O Iblis
مَا
mā
What
لَكَ
laka
(is) for you
أَلَّا
allā
that not
تَكُونَ
takūna
you are
مَعَ
maʿa
with
ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ
l-sājidīna
those who prostrated
[Allāh] said, "O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate?"

15:33
Ayah 15:33
قَالَ لَمْ أَكُن لِّأَسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقْتَهُۥ مِن صَلْصَـٰلٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
قَالَ
qāla
He said
لَمْ
lam
I am not
أَكُن
akun
I am not
لِّأَسْجُدَ
li-asjuda
(one) to prostrate
لِبَشَرٍ
libasharin
to a human
خَلَقْتَهُۥ
khalaqtahu
whom You created
مِن
min
(out) of
صَلْصَـٰلٍ
ṣalṣālin
clay
مِّنْ
min
from
حَمَإٍ
ḥama-in
black mud
مَّسْنُونٍ
masnūnin
altered
He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud."

15:34
Ayah 15:34
قَالَ فَٱخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ
قَالَ
qāla
He said
فَٱخْرُجْ
fa-ukh'ruj
Then get out
مِنْهَا
min'hā
of it
فَإِنَّكَ
fa-innaka
for indeed, you
رَجِيمٌ
rajīmun
(are) expelled
[Allāh] said, "Then depart from it,1 for indeed, you are expelled.

15:35
Ayah 15:35
وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ ٱللَّعْنَةَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
وَإِنَّ
wa-inna
And indeed
عَلَيْكَ
ʿalayka
upon you
ٱللَّعْنَةَ
l-laʿnata
(will be) the curse
إِلَىٰ
ilā
till
يَوْمِ
yawmi
(the) Day
ٱلدِّينِ
l-dīni
(of) [the] Judgment
And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense."

15:36
Ayah 15:36
قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
قَالَ
qāla
He said
رَبِّ
rabbi
O my Lord
فَأَنظِرْنِىٓ
fa-anẓir'nī
Then give me respite
إِلَىٰ
ilā
till
يَوْمِ
yawmi
(the) Day
يُبْعَثُونَ
yub'ʿathūna
they are raised
He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected."

15:37
Ayah 15:37
قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنظَرِينَ
قَالَ
qāla
He said
فَإِنَّكَ
fa-innaka
Then indeed you
مِنَ
mina
(are) of
ٱلْمُنظَرِينَ
l-munẓarīna
the ones given respite
[Allāh] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved

15:38
Ayah 15:38
إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْوَقْتِ ٱلْمَعْلُومِ
إِلَىٰ
ilā
Till
يَوْمِ
yawmi
the Day
ٱلْوَقْتِ
l-waqti
(of) the time
ٱلْمَعْلُومِ
l-maʿlūmi
well-known
Until the Day of the time well-known."

15:39
Ayah 15:39
قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَآ أَغْوَيْتَنِى لَأُزَيِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
قَالَ
qāla
He said
رَبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
بِمَآ
bimā
Because
أَغْوَيْتَنِى
aghwaytanī
You misled me
لَأُزَيِّنَنَّ
la-uzayyinanna
surely, I will make (evil) fair-seeming
لَهُمْ
lahum
to them
فِى
fī
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
وَلَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ
wala-ugh'wiyannahum
and I will mislead them
أَجْمَعِينَ
ajmaʿīna
all
[Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them [i.e., mankind] on earth, and I will mislead them all

15:40
Ayah 15:40
إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
إِلَّا
illā
Except
عِبَادَكَ
ʿibādaka
Your slaves
مِنْهُمُ
min'humu
among them
ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
l-mukh'laṣīna
the ones who are sincere
Except, among them, Your chosen servants."

15:41
Ayah 15:41
قَالَ هَـٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ عَلَىَّ مُسْتَقِيمٌ
قَالَ
qāla
He said
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
This
صِرَٰطٌ
ṣirāṭun
(is) the way
عَلَىَّ
ʿalayya
to Me
مُسْتَقِيمٌ
mus'taqīmun
straight
[Allāh] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight.

15:42
Ayah 15:42
إِنَّ عِبَادِى لَيْسَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَـٰنٌ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلْغَاوِينَ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
عِبَادِى
ʿibādī
My slaves
لَيْسَ
laysa
not
لَكَ
laka
you have
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
over them
سُلْطَـٰنٌ
sul'ṭānun
any authority
إِلَّا
illā
except
مَنِ
mani
those who
ٱتَّبَعَكَ
ittabaʿaka
follow you
مِنَ
mina
of
ٱلْغَاوِينَ
l-ghāwīna
the ones who go astray
Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators.

15:43
Ayah 15:43
وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوْعِدُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
وَإِنَّ
wa-inna
And indeed
جَهَنَّمَ
jahannama
Hell
لَمَوْعِدُهُمْ
lamawʿiduhum
(is) surely the promised place for them
أَجْمَعِينَ
ajmaʿīna
all
And indeed, Hell is the promised place for them all.

15:44
Ayah 15:44
لَهَا سَبْعَةُ أَبْوَٰبٍ لِّكُلِّ بَابٍ مِّنْهُمْ جُزْءٌ مَّقْسُومٌ
لَهَا
lahā
For it
سَبْعَةُ
sabʿatu
(are) seven
أَبْوَٰبٍ
abwābin
gates
لِّكُلِّ
likulli
for each
بَابٍ
bābin
gate
مِّنْهُمْ
min'hum
among them
جُزْءٌ
juz'on
(is) a portion
مَّقْسُومٌ
maqsūmun
assigned
It has seven gates; for every gate is of them [i.e., Satan's followers] a portion designated."

15:45
Ayah 15:45
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
l-mutaqīna
the righteous
فِى
fī
(will be) in
جَنَّـٰتٍ
jannātin
Gardens
وَعُيُونٍ
waʿuyūnin
and water springs
Indeed, the righteous will be within gardens and springs,

15:46
Ayah 15:46
ٱدْخُلُوهَا بِسَلَـٰمٍ ءَامِنِينَ
ٱدْخُلُوهَا
ud'khulūhā
Enter it
بِسَلَـٰمٍ
bisalāmin
in peace
ءَامِنِينَ
āminīna
secure
[Having been told], "Enter it in peace, safe [and secure]."

15:47
Ayah 15:47
وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِى صُدُورِهِم مِّنْ غِلٍّ إِخْوَٰنًا عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَ
وَنَزَعْنَا
wanazaʿnā
And We (will) remove
مَا
mā
what
فِى
fī
(is) in
صُدُورِهِم
ṣudūrihim
their breasts
مِّنْ
min
of
غِلٍّ
ghillin
rancor
إِخْوَٰنًا
ikh'wānan
(they will be) brothers
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
on
سُرُرٍ
sururin
thrones
مُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَ
mutaqābilīna
facing each other
And We will remove whatever is in their breasts of resentment,1 [so they will be] brothers, on thrones facing each other.

15:48
Ayah 15:48
لَا يَمَسُّهُمْ فِيهَا نَصَبٌ وَمَا هُم مِّنْهَا بِمُخْرَجِينَ
لَا
lā
Not
يَمَسُّهُمْ
yamassuhum
will touch them
فِيهَا
fīhā
therein
نَصَبٌ
naṣabun
fatigue
وَمَا
wamā
and not
هُم
hum
they
مِّنْهَا
min'hā
from it
بِمُخْرَجِينَ
bimukh'rajīna
will be removed
No fatigue will touch them therein, nor from it will they [ever] be removed.

15:49
Ayah 15:49
۞ نَبِّئْ عِبَادِىٓ أَنِّىٓ أَنَا ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
نَبِّئْ
nabbi
Inform
عِبَادِىٓ
ʿibādī
My slaves
أَنِّىٓ
annī
that I
أَنَا
anā
I am
ٱلْغَفُورُ
l-ghafūru
the Oft-Forgiving
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
l-raḥīmu
the Most Merciful
[O Muḥammad], inform My servants that it is I who am the Forgiving, the Merciful,

15:50
Ayah 15:50
وَأَنَّ عَذَابِى هُوَ ٱلْعَذَابُ ٱلْأَلِيمُ
وَأَنَّ
wa-anna
And that
عَذَابِى
ʿadhābī
My punishment
هُوَ
huwa
it
ٱلْعَذَابُ
l-ʿadhābu
(is) the punishment
ٱلْأَلِيمُ
l-alīmu
the most painful
And that it is My punishment which is the painful punishment.

15:51
Ayah 15:51
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ عَن ضَيْفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ
wanabbi'hum
And inform them
عَن
ʿan
about
ضَيْفِ
ḍayfi
(the) guests
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
ib'rāhīma
(of) Ibrahim
And inform them about the guests of Abraham,

15:52
Ayah 15:52
إِذْ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا۟ سَلَـٰمًا قَالَ إِنَّا مِنكُمْ وَجِلُونَ
إِذْ

When
دَخَلُوا۟
dakhalū
they entered
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhi
upon him
فَقَالُوا۟
faqālū
and said
سَلَـٰمًا
salāman
Peace
قَالَ
qāla
He said
إِنَّا
innā
Indeed, we
مِنكُمْ
minkum
(are) of you
وَجِلُونَ
wajilūna
afraid
When they entered upon him and said, "Peace." [Abraham] said, "Indeed, we are fearful [i.e., apprehensive] of you."

15:53
Ayah 15:53
قَالُوا۟ لَا تَوْجَلْ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَـٰمٍ عَلِيمٍ
قَالُوا۟
qālū
They said
لَا
lā
(Do) not
تَوْجَلْ
tawjal
be afraid
إِنَّا
innā
indeed, we
نُبَشِّرُكَ
nubashiruka
[we] bring glad tidings to you
بِغُلَـٰمٍ
bighulāmin
of a boy
عَلِيمٍ
ʿalīmin
learned
[The angels] said, "Fear not. Indeed, we give you good tidings of a learned boy."

15:54
Ayah 15:54
قَالَ أَبَشَّرْتُمُونِى عَلَىٰٓ أَن مَّسَّنِىَ ٱلْكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونَ
قَالَ
qāla
He said
أَبَشَّرْتُمُونِى
abashartumūnī
Do you give me glad tidings
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalā
Do you give me glad tidings
أَن
an
although
مَّسَّنِىَ
massaniya
has overtaken me
ٱلْكِبَرُ
l-kibaru
old age
فَبِمَ
fabima
Then about what
تُبَشِّرُونَ
tubashirūna
you give glad tidings
He said, "Have you given me good tidings although old age has come upon me? Then of what [wonder] do you inform?"

15:55
Ayah 15:55
قَالُوا۟ بَشَّرْنَـٰكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْقَـٰنِطِينَ
قَالُوا۟
qālū
They said
بَشَّرْنَـٰكَ
basharnāka
We give you glad tidings
بِٱلْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqi
in truth
فَلَا
falā
so (do) not
تَكُن
takun
be
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلْقَـٰنِطِينَ
l-qāniṭīna
the despairing
They said, "We have given you good tidings in truth, so do not be of the despairing."

15:56
Ayah 15:56
قَالَ وَمَن يَقْنَطُ مِن رَّحْمَةِ رَبِّهِۦٓ إِلَّا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ
قَالَ
qāla
He said
وَمَن
waman
And who
يَقْنَطُ
yaqnaṭu
despairs
مِن
min
of
رَّحْمَةِ
raḥmati
(the) Mercy
رَبِّهِۦٓ
rabbihi
(of) his Lord
إِلَّا
illā
except
ٱلضَّآلُّونَ
l-ḍālūna
those who are astray
He said, "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except for those astray?"

15:57
Ayah 15:57
قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ
قَالَ
qāla
He said
فَمَا
famā
Then what
خَطْبُكُمْ
khaṭbukum
(is) your business
أَيُّهَا
ayyuhā
O messengers
ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ
l-mur'salūna
O messengers
[Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?"

15:58
Ayah 15:58
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّآ أُرْسِلْنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ مُّجْرِمِينَ
قَالُوٓا۟
qālū
They said
إِنَّآ
innā
Indeed, we
أُرْسِلْنَآ
ur'sil'nā
[we] have been sent
إِلَىٰ
ilā
to
قَوْمٍ
qawmin
a people
مُّجْرِمِينَ
muj'rimīna
criminals
They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals,

15:59
Ayah 15:59
إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
إِلَّآ
illā
Except
ءَالَ
āla
the family
لُوطٍ
lūṭin
of Lut
إِنَّا
innā
indeed, we
لَمُنَجُّوهُمْ
lamunajjūhum
surely will save them
أَجْمَعِينَ
ajmaʿīna
all
Except the family of Lot; indeed, we will save them all

15:60
Ayah 15:60
إِلَّا ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرْنَآ ۙ إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ
إِلَّا
illā
Except
ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ
im'ra-atahu
his wife
قَدَّرْنَآ
qaddarnā
We have decreed
إِنَّهَا
innahā
that she
لَمِنَ
lamina
(is) surely of
ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ
l-ghābirīna
those who remain behind
Except his wife." We [i.e., Allāh] decreed that she is of those who remain behind.1

15:61
Ayah 15:61
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ءَالَ لُوطٍ ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ
فَلَمَّا
falammā
And when
جَآءَ
jāa
came
ءَالَ
āla
(to the) family
لُوطٍ
lūṭin
(of) Lut
ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ
l-mur'salūna
the messengers
And when the messengers came to the family of Lot,
— The Clear Quran, Dr. Mustafa Khattab
15:62
Ayah 15:62
قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّنكَرُونَ
قَالَ
qāla
He said
إِنَّكُمْ
innakum
Indeed, you
قَوْمٌ
qawmun
(are) a people
مُّنكَرُونَ
munkarūna
unknown
He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown."

15:63
Ayah 15:63
قَالُوا۟ بَلْ جِئْنَـٰكَ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَ
قَالُوا۟
qālū
They said
بَلْ
bal
Nay
جِئْنَـٰكَ
ji'nāka
we have come to you
بِمَا
bimā
with what
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they were
فِيهِ
fīhi
in it
يَمْتَرُونَ
yamtarūna
disputing
They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing,

15:64
Ayah 15:64
وَأَتَيْنَـٰكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَـٰدِقُونَ
وَأَتَيْنَـٰكَ
wa-ataynāka
And we have come to you
بِٱلْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqi
with the truth
وَإِنَّا
wa-innā
and indeed, we
لَصَـٰدِقُونَ
laṣādiqūna
surely (are) truthful
And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful.

15:65
Ayah 15:65
فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِّنَ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱتَّبِعْ أَدْبَـٰرَهُمْ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنكُمْ أَحَدٌ وَٱمْضُوا۟ حَيْثُ تُؤْمَرُونَ
فَأَسْرِ
fa-asri
So travel
بِأَهْلِكَ
bi-ahlika
with your family
بِقِطْعٍ
biqiṭ'ʿin
in a portion
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلَّيْلِ
al-layli
the night
وَٱتَّبِعْ
wa-ittabiʿ
and follow
أَدْبَـٰرَهُمْ
adbārahum
their backs
وَلَا
walā
and not
يَلْتَفِتْ
yaltafit
let look back
مِنكُمْ
minkum
among you
أَحَدٌ
aḥadun
anyone
وَٱمْضُوا۟
wa-im'ḍū
and go on
حَيْثُ
ḥaythu
where
تُؤْمَرُونَ
tu'marūna
you are ordered
So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded."

15:66
Ayah 15:66
وَقَضَيْنَآ إِلَيْهِ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْأَمْرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ مَقْطُوعٌ مُّصْبِحِينَ
وَقَضَيْنَآ
waqaḍaynā
And We conveyed
إِلَيْهِ
ilayhi
to him
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
[that]
ٱلْأَمْرَ
l-amra
the matter
أَنَّ
anna
that
دَابِرَ
dābira
(the) root
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
hāulāi
(of) these
مَقْطُوعٌ
maqṭūʿun
would be cut off
مُّصْبِحِينَ
muṣ'biḥīna
(by) early morning
And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning.

15:67
Ayah 15:67
وَجَآءَ أَهْلُ ٱلْمَدِينَةِ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ
وَجَآءَ
wajāa
And came
أَهْلُ
ahlu
(the) people
ٱلْمَدِينَةِ
l-madīnati
(of) the city
يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ
yastabshirūna
rejoicing
And the people of the city came rejoicing.1

15:68
Ayah 15:68
قَالَ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ ضَيْفِى فَلَا تَفْضَحُونِ
قَالَ
qāla
He said
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
hāulāi
these
ضَيْفِى
ḍayfī
(are) my guests
فَلَا
falā
so (do) not
تَفْضَحُونِ
tafḍaḥūni
shame me
[Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me.

15:69
Ayah 15:69
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُخْزُونِ
وَٱتَّقُوا۟
wa-ittaqū
And fear
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
وَلَا
walā
and (do) not
تُخْزُونِ
tukh'zūni
disgrace me
And fear Allāh and do not disgrace me."

15:70
Ayah 15:70
قَالُوٓا۟ أَوَلَمْ نَنْهَكَ عَنِ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
قَالُوٓا۟
qālū
They said
أَوَلَمْ
awalam
Did not
نَنْهَكَ
nanhaka
we forbid you
عَنِ
ʿani
from
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
l-ʿālamīna
the world
They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?"

15:71
Ayah 15:71
قَالَ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ بَنَاتِىٓ إِن كُنتُمْ فَـٰعِلِينَ
قَالَ
qāla
He said
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
hāulāi
These
بَنَاتِىٓ
banātī
(are) my daughters
إِن
in
if
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you would be
فَـٰعِلِينَ
fāʿilīna
doers
[Lot] said, "These are my daughters1 - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]."

15:72
Ayah 15:72
لَعَمْرُكَ إِنَّهُمْ لَفِى سَكْرَتِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ
لَعَمْرُكَ
laʿamruka
By your life
إِنَّهُمْ
innahum
indeed, they
لَفِى
lafī
were in
سَكْرَتِهِمْ
sakratihim
their intoxication
يَعْمَهُونَ
yaʿmahūna
wandering blindly
By your life, [O Muḥammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly.

15:73
Ayah 15:73
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِقِينَ
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ
fa-akhadhathumu
So, seized them
ٱلصَّيْحَةُ
l-ṣayḥatu
the awful cry
مُشْرِقِينَ
mush'riqīna
at sunrise
So the shriek1 seized them at sunrise.

15:74
Ayah 15:74
فَجَعَلْنَا عَـٰلِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّن سِجِّيلٍ
فَجَعَلْنَا
fajaʿalnā
And We made
عَـٰلِيَهَا
ʿāliyahā
its highest (part)
سَافِلَهَا
sāfilahā
its lowest
وَأَمْطَرْنَا
wa-amṭarnā
and We rained
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
upon them
حِجَارَةً
ḥijāratan
stones
مِّن
min
of
سِجِّيلٍ
sijjīlin
baked clay
And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay.

15:75
Ayah 15:75
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ لِّلْمُتَوَسِّمِينَ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
فِى
fī
in
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
that
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ
laāyātin
(are) the Signs
لِّلْمُتَوَسِّمِينَ
lil'mutawassimīna
for those who discern
Indeed in that are signs for those who discern.

15:76
Ayah 15:76
وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيلٍ مُّقِيمٍ
وَإِنَّهَا
wa-innahā
And indeed, it
لَبِسَبِيلٍ
labisabīlin
(is) on a road
مُّقِيمٍ
muqīmin
established
And indeed, they [i.e., those cities] are [situated] on an established road.

15:77
Ayah 15:77
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
فِى
fī
in
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
that
لَـَٔايَةً
laāyatan
surely (is) a Sign
لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
lil'mu'minīna
for the believers
Indeed in that is a sign for the believers.

15:78
Ayah 15:78
وَإِن كَانَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْأَيْكَةِ لَظَـٰلِمِينَ
وَإِن
wa-in
And were
كَانَ
kāna
And were
أَصْحَـٰبُ
aṣḥābu
(the) companions
ٱلْأَيْكَةِ
l-aykati
(of) the wood
لَظَـٰلِمِينَ
laẓālimīna
surely wrongdoers
And the companions of the thicket [i.e., the people of Madyan] were [also] wrongdoers,

15:79
Ayah 15:79
فَٱنتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامٍ مُّبِينٍ
فَٱنتَقَمْنَا
fa-intaqamnā
So We took retribution
مِنْهُمْ
min'hum
from them
وَإِنَّهُمَا
wa-innahumā
and indeed, they both
لَبِإِمَامٍ
labi-imāmin
(were) on a highway
مُّبِينٍ
mubīnin
clear
So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway.

15:80
Ayah 15:80
وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْحِجْرِ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And certainly
كَذَّبَ
kadhaba
denied
أَصْحَـٰبُ
aṣḥābu
(the) companions
ٱلْحِجْرِ
l-ḥij'ri
(of) the Rocky Tract
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
l-mur'salīna
the Messengers
And certainly did the companions of al-Ḥijr1 [i.e., the Thamūd] deny the messengers.

15:81
Ayah 15:81
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمْ ءَايَـٰتِنَا فَكَانُوا۟ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمْ
waātaynāhum
And We gave them
ءَايَـٰتِنَا
āyātinā
Our Signs
فَكَانُوا۟
fakānū
but they were
عَنْهَا
ʿanhā
from them
مُعْرِضِينَ
muʿ'riḍīna
turning away
And We gave them Our signs, but from them they were turning away.

15:82
Ayah 15:82
وَكَانُوا۟ يَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا ءَامِنِينَ
وَكَانُوا۟
wakānū
And they used (to)
يَنْحِتُونَ
yanḥitūna
carve
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلْجِبَالِ
l-jibāli
the mountains
بُيُوتًا
buyūtan
houses
ءَامِنِينَ
āminīna
secure
And they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure.

15:83
Ayah 15:83
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّيْحَةُ مُصْبِحِينَ
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ
fa-akhadhathumu
But seized them
ٱلصَّيْحَةُ
l-ṣayḥatu
the awful cry
مُصْبِحِينَ
muṣ'biḥīna
(at) early morning
But the shriek seized them at early morning,

15:84
Ayah 15:84
فَمَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
فَمَآ
famā
And not
أَغْنَىٰ
aghnā
availed
عَنْهُم
ʿanhum
them
مَّا
mā
what
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they used (to)
يَكْسِبُونَ
yaksibūna
earn
So nothing availed them [from] what they used to earn.

15:85
Ayah 15:85
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ ۗ وَإِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَـَٔاتِيَةٌ ۖ فَٱصْفَحِ ٱلصَّفْحَ ٱلْجَمِيلَ
وَمَا
wamā
And not
خَلَقْنَا
khalaqnā
We created
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَ
wal-arḍa
and the earth
وَمَا
wamā
and whatever
بَيْنَهُمَآ
baynahumā
(is) between them
إِلَّا
illā
except
بِٱلْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqi
in truth
وَإِنَّ
wa-inna
And indeed
ٱلسَّاعَةَ
l-sāʿata
the Hour
لَـَٔاتِيَةٌ
laātiyatun
(is) surely coming
فَٱصْفَحِ
fa-iṣ'faḥi
So overlook
ٱلصَّفْحَ
l-ṣafḥa
(with) forgiveness
ٱلْجَمِيلَ
l-jamīla
gracious
And We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth. And indeed, the Hour is coming; so forgive with gracious forgiveness.

15:86
Ayah 15:86
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ ٱلْخَلَّـٰقُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
رَبَّكَ
rabbaka
your Lord
هُوَ
huwa
He
ٱلْخَلَّـٰقُ
l-khalāqu
(is) the Creator
ٱلْعَلِيمُ
l-ʿalīmu
the All-Knower
Indeed, your Lord - He is the Knowing Creator.

15:87
Ayah 15:87
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَـٰكَ سَبْعًا مِّنَ ٱلْمَثَانِى وَٱلْقُرْءَانَ ٱلْعَظِيمَ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And certainly
ءَاتَيْنَـٰكَ
ātaynāka
We have given you
سَبْعًا
sabʿan
seven
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلْمَثَانِى
l-mathānī
the oft-repeated
وَٱلْقُرْءَانَ
wal-qur'āna
and the Quran
ٱلْعَظِيمَ
l-ʿaẓīma
Great
And We have certainly given you, [O Muḥammad], seven of the often repeated [verses]1 and the great Qur’ān.

15:88
Ayah 15:88
لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰجًا مِّنْهُمْ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَٱخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
لَا
lā
(Do) not
تَمُدَّنَّ
tamuddanna
extend
عَيْنَيْكَ
ʿaynayka
your eyes
إِلَىٰ
ilā
towards
مَا
mā
what
مَتَّعْنَا
mattaʿnā
We have bestowed
بِهِۦٓ
bihi
with it
أَزْوَٰجًا
azwājan
(to) categories
مِّنْهُمْ
min'hum
of them
وَلَا
walā
and (do) not
تَحْزَنْ
taḥzan
grieve
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
over them
وَٱخْفِضْ
wa-ikh'fiḍ
And lower
جَنَاحَكَ
janāḥaka
your wing
لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
lil'mu'minīna
to the believers
Do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [certain] categories of them [i.e., the disbelievers], and do not grieve over them. And lower your wing [i.e., show kindness] to the believers.

15:89
Ayah 15:89
وَقُلْ إِنِّىٓ أَنَا ٱلنَّذِيرُ ٱلْمُبِينُ
وَقُلْ
waqul
And say
إِنِّىٓ
innī
Indeed, I
أَنَا
anā
[I] am
ٱلنَّذِيرُ
l-nadhīru
a warner
ٱلْمُبِينُ
l-mubīnu
clear
And say, "Indeed, I am the clear warner" -

15:90
Ayah 15:90
كَمَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَى ٱلْمُقْتَسِمِينَ
كَمَآ
kamā
As
أَنزَلْنَا
anzalnā
We sent down
عَلَى
ʿalā
on
ٱلْمُقْتَسِمِينَ
l-muq'tasimīna
those who divided
Just as We had revealed [scriptures] to the separators1

15:91
Ayah 15:91
ٱلَّذِينَ جَعَلُوا۟ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ عِضِينَ
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
Those who
جَعَلُوا۟
jaʿalū
have made
ٱلْقُرْءَانَ
l-qur'āna
the Quran
عِضِينَ
ʿiḍīna
(in) parts
Who have made the Qur’ān into portions.1

15:92
Ayah 15:92
فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسْـَٔلَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
فَوَرَبِّكَ
fawarabbika
So by your Lord
لَنَسْـَٔلَنَّهُمْ
lanasalannahum
surely We will question them
أَجْمَعِينَ
ajmaʿīna
all
So by your Lord, We will surely question them all

15:93
Ayah 15:93
عَمَّا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
عَمَّا
ʿammā
About what
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they used (to)
يَعْمَلُونَ
yaʿmalūna
do
About what they used to do.

15:94
Ayah 15:94
فَٱصْدَعْ بِمَا تُؤْمَرُ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
فَٱصْدَعْ
fa-iṣ'daʿ
So proclaim
بِمَا
bimā
of what
تُؤْمَرُ
tu'maru
you are ordered
وَأَعْرِضْ
wa-aʿriḍ
and turn away
عَنِ
ʿani
from
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
l-mush'rikīna
the polytheists
Then declare what you are commanded1 and turn away from the polytheists.2

15:95
Ayah 15:95
إِنَّا كَفَيْنَـٰكَ ٱلْمُسْتَهْزِءِينَ
إِنَّا
innā
Indeed, We
كَفَيْنَـٰكَ
kafaynāka
[We] are sufficient for you
ٱلْمُسْتَهْزِءِينَ
l-mus'tahziīna
(against) the mockers
Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers

15:96
Ayah 15:96
ٱلَّذِينَ يَجْعَلُونَ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ ۚ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
Those who
يَجْعَلُونَ
yajʿalūna
set up
مَعَ
maʿa
with
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
إِلَـٰهًا
ilāhan
god
ءَاخَرَ
ākhara
another
فَسَوْفَ
fasawfa
But soon
يَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūna
they will come to know
Who make [equal] with Allāh another deity. But they are going to know.

15:97
Ayah 15:97
وَلَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ يَضِيقُ صَدْرُكَ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And verily
نَعْلَمُ
naʿlamu
We know
أَنَّكَ
annaka
that [you]
يَضِيقُ
yaḍīqu
(is) straitened
صَدْرُكَ
ṣadruka
your breast
بِمَا
bimā
by what
يَقُولُونَ
yaqūlūna
they say
And We already know that your breast is constrained by what they say.

15:98
Ayah 15:98
فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُن مِّنَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ
فَسَبِّحْ
fasabbiḥ
So glorify
بِحَمْدِ
biḥamdi
with the praise
رَبِّكَ
rabbika
(of) your Lord
وَكُن
wakun
and be
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ
l-sājidīna
those who prostrate
So exalt [Allāh] with praise of your Lord and be of those who prostrate [to Him].

15:99
Ayah 15:99
وَٱعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَكَ ٱلْيَقِينُ
وَٱعْبُدْ
wa-uʿ'bud
And worship
رَبَّكَ
rabbaka
your Lord
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattā
until
يَأْتِيَكَ
yatiyaka
comes to you
ٱلْيَقِينُ
l-yaqīnu
the certainty
And worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty [i.e., death].
