16:1
Ayah 16:1
أَتَىٰٓ أَمْرُ ٱللَّهِ فَلَا تَسْتَعْجِلُوهُ ۚ سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ
أَتَىٰٓ
atā
Will come
أَمْرُ
amru
(the) command of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(the) command of Allah
فَلَا
falā
so (do) not
تَسْتَعْجِلُوهُ
tastaʿjilūhu
(be) impatient for it
سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ
sub'ḥānahu
Glorified is He
وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ
wataʿālā
and Exalted (is) He
عَمَّا
ʿammā
above what
يُشْرِكُونَ
yush'rikūna
they associate
The command of Allāh is coming,1 so be not impatient for it. Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him.

16:2
Ayah 16:2
يُنَزِّلُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ بِٱلرُّوحِ مِنْ أَمْرِهِۦ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦٓ أَنْ أَنذِرُوٓا۟ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۠ فَٱتَّقُونِ
يُنَزِّلُ
yunazzilu
He sends down
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ
l-malāikata
the Angels
بِٱلرُّوحِ
bil-rūḥi
with the inspiration
مِنْ
min
of
أَمْرِهِۦ
amrihi
His Command
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
upon
مَن
man
whom
يَشَآءُ
yashāu
He wills
مِنْ
min
of
عِبَادِهِۦٓ
ʿibādihi
His slaves
أَنْ
an
that
أَنذِرُوٓا۟
andhirū
Warn
أَنَّهُۥ
annahu
that [He]
لَآ
(there is) no
إِلَـٰهَ
ilāha
god
إِلَّآ
illā
except
أَنَا۠
anā
Me
فَٱتَّقُونِ
fa-ittaqūni
so fear Me
He sends down the angels, with the inspiration [i.e., revelation] of His command, upon whom He wills of His servants, [telling them], "Warn that there is no deity except Me; so fear Me."

16:3
Ayah 16:3
خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚ تَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ
خَلَقَ
khalaqa
He created
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَ
wal-arḍa
and the earth
بِٱلْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqi
in truth
تَعَـٰلَىٰ
taʿālā
Exalted is He
عَمَّا
ʿammā
above what
يُشْرِكُونَ
yush'rikūna
they associate
He created the heavens and earth in truth. High is He above what they associate with Him.

16:4
Ayah 16:4
خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ فَإِذَا هُوَ خَصِيمٌ مُّبِينٌ
خَلَقَ
khalaqa
He created
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ
l-insāna
the human kind
مِن
min
from
نُّطْفَةٍ
nuṭ'fatin
a minute quantity of semen
فَإِذَا
fa-idhā
then behold
هُوَ
huwa
he
خَصِيمٌ
khaṣīmun
(is) an opponent
مُّبِينٌ
mubīnun
clear
He created man from a sperm-drop; then at once1 he is a clear adversary.

16:5
Ayah 16:5
وَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمَ خَلَقَهَا ۗ لَكُمْ فِيهَا دِفْءٌ وَمَنَـٰفِعُ وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ
وَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمَ
wal-anʿāma
And the cattle
خَلَقَهَا
khalaqahā
He created them
لَكُمْ
lakum
for you
فِيهَا
fīhā
in them
دِفْءٌ
dif'on
(is) warmth
وَمَنَـٰفِعُ
wamanāfiʿu
and benefits
وَمِنْهَا
wamin'hā
and from them
تَأْكُلُونَ
takulūna
you eat
And the grazing livestock He has created for you; in them is warmth1 and [numerous] benefits, and from them you eat.

16:6
Ayah 16:6
وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا جَمَالٌ حِينَ تُرِيحُونَ وَحِينَ تَسْرَحُونَ
وَلَكُمْ
walakum
And for you
فِيهَا
fīhā
in them
جَمَالٌ
jamālun
(is) beauty
حِينَ
ḥīna
when
تُرِيحُونَ
turīḥūna
you bring them in
وَحِينَ
waḥīna
and when
تَسْرَحُونَ
tasraḥūna
you take them out
And for you in them is [the enjoyment of] beauty when you bring them in [for the evening] and when you send them out [to pasture].

16:7
Ayah 16:7
وَتَحْمِلُ أَثْقَالَكُمْ إِلَىٰ بَلَدٍ لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ بَـٰلِغِيهِ إِلَّا بِشِقِّ ٱلْأَنفُسِ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ لَرَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ
وَتَحْمِلُ
wataḥmilu
And they carry
أَثْقَالَكُمْ
athqālakum
your loads
إِلَىٰ
ilā
to
بَلَدٍ
baladin
a land
لَّمْ
lam
not
تَكُونُوا۟
takūnū
you could
بَـٰلِغِيهِ
bālighīhi
reach it
إِلَّا
illā
except
بِشِقِّ
bishiqqi
with great trouble
ٱلْأَنفُسِ
l-anfusi
(to) yourselves
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
رَبَّكُمْ
rabbakum
your Lord
لَرَءُوفٌ
laraūfun
surely is Most Kind
رَّحِيمٌ
raḥīmun
Most Merciful
And they carry your loads to a land you could not have reached except with difficulty to yourselves. Indeed, your Lord is Kind and Merciful.

16:8
Ayah 16:8
وَٱلْخَيْلَ وَٱلْبِغَالَ وَٱلْحَمِيرَ لِتَرْكَبُوهَا وَزِينَةً ۚ وَيَخْلُقُ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
وَٱلْخَيْلَ
wal-khayla
And horses
وَٱلْبِغَالَ
wal-bighāla
and mules
وَٱلْحَمِيرَ
wal-ḥamīra
and donkeys
لِتَرْكَبُوهَا
litarkabūhā
for you to ride them
وَزِينَةً
wazīnatan
and (as) adornment
وَيَخْلُقُ
wayakhluqu
And He creates
مَا
what
لَا
not
تَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūna
you know
And [He created] the horses, mules and donkeys for you to ride and [as] adornment. And He creates that which you do not know.

16:9
Ayah 16:9
وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ قَصْدُ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَمِنْهَا جَآئِرٌ ۚ وَلَوْ شَآءَ لَهَدَىٰكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
وَعَلَى
waʿalā
And upon
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
قَصْدُ
qaṣdu
(is) the direction
ٱلسَّبِيلِ
l-sabīli
(of) the way
وَمِنْهَا
wamin'hā
and among them
جَآئِرٌ
jāirun
(are) crooked
وَلَوْ
walaw
And if
شَآءَ
shāa
He willed
لَهَدَىٰكُمْ
lahadākum
surely He would have guided you
أَجْمَعِينَ
ajmaʿīna
all
And upon Allāh1 is the direction of the [right] way, and among them [i.e., the various paths] are those deviating. And if He willed, He could have guided you all.

16:10
Ayah 16:10
هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً ۖ لَّكُم مِّنْهُ شَرَابٌ وَمِنْهُ شَجَرٌ فِيهِ تُسِيمُونَ
هُوَ
huwa
He
ٱلَّذِىٓ
alladhī
(is) the One Who
أَنزَلَ
anzala
sends down
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāi
the sky
مَآءً
māan
water
لَّكُم
lakum
for you
مِّنْهُ
min'hu
of it
شَرَابٌ
sharābun
(is) drink
وَمِنْهُ
wamin'hu
and from it
شَجَرٌ
shajarun
(grows) vegetation
فِيهِ
fīhi
in which
تُسِيمُونَ
tusīmūna
you pasture your cattle
It is He who sends down rain from the sky; from it is drink and from it is foliage in which you pasture [animals].

16:11
Ayah 16:11
يُنۢبِتُ لَكُم بِهِ ٱلزَّرْعَ وَٱلزَّيْتُونَ وَٱلنَّخِيلَ وَٱلْأَعْنَـٰبَ وَمِن كُلِّ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
يُنۢبِتُ
yunbitu
He causes to grow
لَكُم
lakum
for you
بِهِ
bihi
with it
ٱلزَّرْعَ
l-zarʿa
the crops
وَٱلزَّيْتُونَ
wal-zaytūna
and the olives
وَٱلنَّخِيلَ
wal-nakhīla
and the date-palms
وَٱلْأَعْنَـٰبَ
wal-aʿnāba
and the grapes
وَمِن
wamin
and of
كُلِّ
kulli
every kind
ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ
l-thamarāti
(of) fruits
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
فِى
in
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
that
لَـَٔايَةً
laāyatan
surely (is) a sign
لِّقَوْمٍ
liqawmin
for a people
يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
yatafakkarūna
who reflect
He causes to grow for you thereby the crops, olives, palm trees, grapevines, and of all the fruits. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.

16:12
Ayah 16:12
وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ وَٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَ ۖ وَٱلنُّجُومُ مُسَخَّرَٰتٌۢ بِأَمْرِهِۦٓ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ
وَسَخَّرَ
wasakhara
And He has subjected
لَكُمُ
lakumu
for you
ٱلَّيْلَ
al-layla
the night
وَٱلنَّهَارَ
wal-nahāra
and the day
وَٱلشَّمْسَ
wal-shamsa
and the sun
وَٱلْقَمَرَ
wal-qamara
and the moon
وَٱلنُّجُومُ
wal-nujūmu
and the stars
مُسَخَّرَٰتٌۢ
musakharātun
(are) subjected
بِأَمْرِهِۦٓ
bi-amrihi
by His command
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
فِى
in
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
that
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ
laāyātin
surely (are) signs
لِّقَوْمٍ
liqawmin
for a people
يَعْقِلُونَ
yaʿqilūna
who use reason
And He has subjected for you the night and day and the sun and moon, and the stars are subjected by His command. Indeed in that are signs for a people who reason.

16:13
Ayah 16:13
وَمَا ذَرَأَ لَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُخْتَلِفًا أَلْوَٰنُهُۥٓ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَذَّكَّرُونَ
وَمَا
wamā
And whatever
ذَرَأَ
dhara-a
He multiplied
لَكُمْ
lakum
for you
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
مُخْتَلِفًا
mukh'talifan
(of) varying
أَلْوَٰنُهُۥٓ
alwānuhu
colors
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
فِى
in
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
that
لَـَٔايَةً
laāyatan
surely (is) a sign
لِّقَوْمٍ
liqawmin
for a people
يَذَّكَّرُونَ
yadhakkarūna
who remember
And [He has subjected] whatever He multiplied for you on the earth of varying colors. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who remember.

16:14
Ayah 16:14
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى سَخَّرَ ٱلْبَحْرَ لِتَأْكُلُوا۟ مِنْهُ لَحْمًا طَرِيًّا وَتَسْتَخْرِجُوا۟ مِنْهُ حِلْيَةً تَلْبَسُونَهَا وَتَرَى ٱلْفُلْكَ مَوَاخِرَ فِيهِ وَلِتَبْتَغُوا۟ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
And He
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
(is) the One Who
سَخَّرَ
sakhara
subjected
ٱلْبَحْرَ
l-baḥra
the sea
لِتَأْكُلُوا۟
litakulū
for you to eat
مِنْهُ
min'hu
from it
لَحْمًا
laḥman
meat
طَرِيًّا
ṭariyyan
fresh
وَتَسْتَخْرِجُوا۟
watastakhrijū
and that you bring forth
مِنْهُ
min'hu
from it
حِلْيَةً
ḥil'yatan
ornaments
تَلْبَسُونَهَا
talbasūnahā
(that) you wear them
وَتَرَى
watarā
And you see
ٱلْفُلْكَ
l-ful'ka
the ships
مَوَاخِرَ
mawākhira
ploughing
فِيهِ
fīhi
through it
وَلِتَبْتَغُوا۟
walitabtaghū
and that you may seek
مِن
min
of
فَضْلِهِۦ
faḍlihi
His Bounty
وَلَعَلَّكُمْ
walaʿallakum
and that you may
تَشْكُرُونَ
tashkurūna
(be) grateful
And it is He who subjected the sea for you to eat from it tender meat and to extract from it ornaments which you wear. And you see the ships plowing through it, and [He subjected it] that you may seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful.

16:15
Ayah 16:15
وَأَلْقَىٰ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ رَوَٰسِىَ أَن تَمِيدَ بِكُمْ وَأَنْهَـٰرًا وَسُبُلًا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ
وَأَلْقَىٰ
wa-alqā
And He has cast
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
رَوَٰسِىَ
rawāsiya
firm mountains
أَن
an
lest
تَمِيدَ
tamīda
it should shake
بِكُمْ
bikum
with you
وَأَنْهَـٰرًا
wa-anhāran
and rivers
وَسُبُلًا
wasubulan
and roads
لَّعَلَّكُمْ
laʿallakum
so that you may
تَهْتَدُونَ
tahtadūna
be guided
And He has cast into the earth firmly set mountains, lest it shift with you, and [made] rivers and roads, that you may be guided,

16:16
Ayah 16:16
وَعَلَـٰمَـٰتٍ ۚ وَبِٱلنَّجْمِ هُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ
وَعَلَـٰمَـٰتٍ
waʿalāmātin
And landmarks
وَبِٱلنَّجْمِ
wabil-najmi
And by the stars
هُمْ
hum
they
يَهْتَدُونَ
yahtadūna
guide themselves
And landmarks. And by the stars they are [also] guided.1

16:17
Ayah 16:17
أَفَمَن يَخْلُقُ كَمَن لَّا يَخْلُقُ ۗ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
أَفَمَن
afaman
Then is He Who
يَخْلُقُ
yakhluqu
creates
كَمَن
kaman
like one who
لَّا
(does) not
يَخْلُقُ
yakhluqu
create
أَفَلَا
afalā
Then will you not
تَذَكَّرُونَ
tadhakkarūna
remember
Then is He who creates like one who does not create? So will you not be reminded?

16:18
Ayah 16:18
وَإِن تَعُدُّوا۟ نِعْمَةَ ٱللَّهِ لَا تُحْصُوهَآ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَغَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
وَإِن
wa-in
And if
تَعُدُّوا۟
taʿuddū
you should count
نِعْمَةَ
niʿ'mata
the Favors of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
the Favors of Allah
لَا
not
تُحْصُوهَآ
tuḥ'ṣūhā
you could enumerate them
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
لَغَفُورٌ
laghafūrun
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌ
raḥīmun
Most Merciful
And if you should count the favors of Allāh, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.

16:19
Ayah 16:19
وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تُسِرُّونَ وَمَا تُعْلِنُونَ
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
يَعْلَمُ
yaʿlamu
knows
مَا
what
تُسِرُّونَ
tusirrūna
you conceal
وَمَا
wamā
and what
تُعْلِنُونَ
tuʿ'linūna
you reveal
And Allāh knows what you conceal and what you declare.

16:20
Ayah 16:20
وَٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَا يَخْلُقُونَ شَيْـًٔا وَهُمْ يُخْلَقُونَ
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
And those whom
يَدْعُونَ
yadʿūna
they invoke
مِن
min
besides
دُونِ
dūni
besides
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
لَا
not
يَخْلُقُونَ
yakhluqūna
they create
شَيْـًٔا
shayan
anything
وَهُمْ
wahum
but (are) themselves
يُخْلَقُونَ
yukh'laqūna
created
And those they invoke other than Allāh create nothing, and they [themselves] are created.

16:21
Ayah 16:21
أَمْوَٰتٌ غَيْرُ أَحْيَآءٍ ۖ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ أَيَّانَ يُبْعَثُونَ
أَمْوَٰتٌ
amwātun
(They are) dead
غَيْرُ
ghayru
not alive
أَحْيَآءٍ
aḥyāin
not alive
وَمَا
wamā
And not
يَشْعُرُونَ
yashʿurūna
they perceive
أَيَّانَ
ayyāna
when
يُبْعَثُونَ
yub'ʿathūna
they will be resurrected
They are [in fact] dead,1 not alive, and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected.

16:22
Ayah 16:22
إِلَـٰهُكُمْ إِلَـٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ ۚ فَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ قُلُوبُهُم مُّنكِرَةٌ وَهُم مُّسْتَكْبِرُونَ
إِلَـٰهُكُمْ
ilāhukum
Your god
إِلَـٰهٌ
ilāhun
(is) God
وَٰحِدٌ
wāḥidun
One
فَٱلَّذِينَ
fa-alladhīna
But those who
لَا
(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūna
believe
بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
bil-ākhirati
in the Hereafter
قُلُوبُهُم
qulūbuhum
their hearts
مُّنكِرَةٌ
munkiratun
refuse
وَهُم
wahum
and they
مُّسْتَكْبِرُونَ
mus'takbirūna
(are) arrogant
Your god is one God. But those who do not believe in the Hereafter - their hearts are disapproving, and they are arrogant.

16:23
Ayah 16:23
لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُسْتَكْبِرِينَ
لَا
No doubt
جَرَمَ
jarama
No doubt
أَنَّ
anna
that
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
يَعْلَمُ
yaʿlamu
knows
مَا
what
يُسِرُّونَ
yusirrūna
they conceal
وَمَا
wamā
and what
يُعْلِنُونَ
yuʿ'linūna
they reveal
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, He
لَا
(does) not
يُحِبُّ
yuḥibbu
love
ٱلْمُسْتَكْبِرِينَ
l-mus'takbirīna
the arrogant ones
Assuredly, Allāh knows what they conceal and what they declare. Indeed, He does not like the arrogant.

16:24
Ayah 16:24
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُم مَّاذَآ أَنزَلَ رَبُّكُمْ ۙ قَالُوٓا۟ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
وَإِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
قِيلَ
qīla
it is said
لَهُم
lahum
to them
مَّاذَآ
mādhā
What
أَنزَلَ
anzala
has your Lord sent down
رَبُّكُمْ
rabbukum
has your Lord sent down
قَالُوٓا۟
qālū
They say
أَسَـٰطِيرُ
asāṭīru
Tales
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
l-awalīna
(of) the ancient
And when it is said to them, "What has your Lord sent down?" they say, "Legends of the former peoples,"

16:25
Ayah 16:25
لِيَحْمِلُوٓا۟ أَوْزَارَهُمْ كَامِلَةً يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۙ وَمِنْ أَوْزَارِ ٱلَّذِينَ يُضِلُّونَهُم بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ۗ أَلَا سَآءَ مَا يَزِرُونَ
لِيَحْمِلُوٓا۟
liyaḥmilū
That they may bear
أَوْزَارَهُمْ
awzārahum
their own burdens
كَامِلَةً
kāmilatan
(in) full
يَوْمَ
yawma
on (the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ
l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
وَمِنْ
wamin
and of
أَوْزَارِ
awzāri
the burdens
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
(of) those whom
يُضِلُّونَهُم
yuḍillūnahum
they misled [them]
بِغَيْرِ
bighayri
without
عِلْمٍ
ʿil'min
knowledge
أَلَا
alā
Unquestionably
سَآءَ
sāa
evil
مَا
(is) what
يَزِرُونَ
yazirūna
they will bear
That they may bear their own burdens [i.e., sins] in full on the Day of Resurrection and some of the burdens of those whom they misguide without [i.e., by lack of] knowledge. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear.

16:26
Ayah 16:26
قَدْ مَكَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَأَتَى ٱللَّهُ بُنْيَـٰنَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْقَوَاعِدِ فَخَرَّ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّقْفُ مِن فَوْقِهِمْ وَأَتَىٰهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ
قَدْ
qad
Verily
مَكَرَ
makara
plotted
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
مِن
min
(were) before them
قَبْلِهِمْ
qablihim
(were) before them
فَأَتَى
fa-atā
but Allah came
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
but Allah came
بُنْيَـٰنَهُم
bun'yānahum
(at) their building
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱلْقَوَاعِدِ
l-qawāʿidi
the foundations
فَخَرَّ
fakharra
so fell
عَلَيْهِمُ
ʿalayhimu
upon them
ٱلسَّقْفُ
l-saqfu
the roof
مِن
min
from
فَوْقِهِمْ
fawqihim
above them
وَأَتَىٰهُمُ
wa-atāhumu
and came to them
ٱلْعَذَابُ
l-ʿadhābu
the punishment
مِنْ
min
from
حَيْثُ
ḥaythu
where
لَا
they (did) not perceive
يَشْعُرُونَ
yashʿurūna
they (did) not perceive
Those before them had already plotted, but Allāh came at [i.e., uprooted] their building from the foundations, so the roof fell upon them from above them,1 and the punishment came to them from where they did not perceive.

16:27
Ayah 16:27
ثُمَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ يُخْزِيهِمْ وَيَقُولُ أَيْنَ شُرَكَآءِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ كُنتُمْ تُشَـٰٓقُّونَ فِيهِمْ ۚ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْعِلْمَ إِنَّ ٱلْخِزْىَ ٱلْيَوْمَ وَٱلسُّوٓءَ عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
يَوْمَ
yawma
(on) the Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ
l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
يُخْزِيهِمْ
yukh'zīhim
He will disgrace them
وَيَقُولُ
wayaqūlu
and say
أَيْنَ
ayna
Where
شُرَكَآءِىَ
shurakāiya
(are) My partners
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those (for) whom
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you used (to)
تُشَـٰٓقُّونَ
tushāqqūna
oppose
فِيهِمْ
fīhim
[in them]
قَالَ
qāla
Will say
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
أُوتُوا۟
ūtū
were given
ٱلْعِلْمَ
l-ʿil'ma
the knowledge
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلْخِزْىَ
l-khiz'ya
the disgrace
ٱلْيَوْمَ
l-yawma
this Day
وَٱلسُّوٓءَ
wal-sūa
and evil
عَلَى
ʿalā
(are) upon
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
l-kāfirīna
the disbelievers
Then on the Day of Resurrection He will disgrace them and say, "Where are My 'partners' for whom you used to oppose [the believers]?" Those who were given knowledge will say, "Indeed disgrace, this Day, and evil are upon the disbelievers" -

16:28
Ayah 16:28
ٱلَّذِينَ تَتَوَفَّىٰهُمُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ ظَالِمِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ ۖ فَأَلْقَوُا۟ ٱلسَّلَمَ مَا كُنَّا نَعْمَلُ مِن سُوٓءٍۭ ۚ بَلَىٰٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌۢ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
Those whom
تَتَوَفَّىٰهُمُ
tatawaffāhumu
take them in death
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ
l-malāikatu
the Angels
ظَالِمِىٓ
ẓālimī
(while) wronging
أَنفُسِهِمْ
anfusihim
themselves
فَأَلْقَوُا۟
fa-alqawū
then they would offer
ٱلسَّلَمَ
l-salama
the submission
مَا
Not
كُنَّا
kunnā
we were
نَعْمَلُ
naʿmalu
doing
مِن
min
any
سُوٓءٍۭ
sūin
evil
بَلَىٰٓ
balā
Nay
إِنَّ
inna
indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
عَلِيمٌۢ
ʿalīmun
(is) All-Knower
بِمَا
bimā
of what
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you used (to)
تَعْمَلُونَ
taʿmalūna
do
The ones whom the angels take in death [while] wronging themselves,1 and [who] then offer submission, [saying], "We were not doing any evil." But, yes! Indeed, Allāh is Knowing of what you used to do.

16:29
Ayah 16:29
فَٱدْخُلُوٓا۟ أَبْوَٰبَ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۖ فَلَبِئْسَ مَثْوَى ٱلْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ
فَٱدْخُلُوٓا۟
fa-ud'khulū
So enter
أَبْوَٰبَ
abwāba
(the) gates
جَهَنَّمَ
jahannama
(of) Hell
خَـٰلِدِينَ
khālidīna
(to) abide forever
فِيهَا
fīhā
in it
فَلَبِئْسَ
falabi'sa
Surely, wretched
مَثْوَى
mathwā
(is the) abode
ٱلْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ
l-mutakabirīna
(of) the arrogant
So enter the gates of Hell to abide eternally therein, and how wretched is the residence of the arrogant.

16:30
Ayah 16:30
۞ وَقِيلَ لِلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ مَاذَآ أَنزَلَ رَبُّكُمْ ۚ قَالُوا۟ خَيْرًا ۗ لِّلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ فِى هَـٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةٌ ۚ وَلَدَارُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ خَيْرٌ ۚ وَلَنِعْمَ دَارُ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
وَقِيلَ
waqīla
And it will be said
لِلَّذِينَ
lilladhīna
to those who
ٱتَّقَوْا۟
ittaqaw
fear Allah
مَاذَآ
mādhā
What
أَنزَلَ
anzala
has your Lord sent down
رَبُّكُمْ
rabbukum
has your Lord sent down
قَالُوا۟
qālū
They will say
خَيْرًا
khayran
Good
لِّلَّذِينَ
lilladhīna
For those who
أَحْسَنُوا۟
aḥsanū
do good
فِى
in
هَـٰذِهِ
hādhihi
this
ٱلدُّنْيَا
l-dun'yā
world
حَسَنَةٌ
ḥasanatun
(is) a good
وَلَدَارُ
waladāru
and the home
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
l-ākhirati
of the Hereafter
خَيْرٌ
khayrun
(is) better
وَلَنِعْمَ
walaniʿ'ma
And surely excellent
دَارُ
dāru
(is) the home
ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
l-mutaqīna
(of) the righteous
And it will be said to those who feared Allāh, "What did your Lord send down?" They will say, "[That which is] good." For those who do good in this world is good; and the home of the Hereafter is better. And how excellent is the home of the righteous -

16:31
Ayah 16:31
جَنَّـٰتُ عَدْنٍ يَدْخُلُونَهَا تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۖ لَهُمْ فِيهَا مَا يَشَآءُونَ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يَجْزِى ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
جَنَّـٰتُ
jannātu
Gardens
عَدْنٍ
ʿadnin
(of) Eden
يَدْخُلُونَهَا
yadkhulūnahā
which they will enter
تَجْرِى
tajrī
flows
مِن
min
from
تَحْتِهَا
taḥtihā
underneath them
ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ
l-anhāru
the rivers
لَهُمْ
lahum
For them
فِيهَا
fīhā
therein
مَا
(will be) whatever
يَشَآءُونَ
yashāūna
they wish
كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhālika
Thus
يَجْزِى
yajzī
Allah rewards
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah rewards
ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
l-mutaqīna
the righteous
Gardens of perpetual residence, which they will enter, beneath which rivers flow. They will have therein whatever they wish. Thus does Allāh reward the righteous -

16:32
Ayah 16:32
ٱلَّذِينَ تَتَوَفَّىٰهُمُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ طَيِّبِينَ ۙ يَقُولُونَ سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱدْخُلُوا۟ ٱلْجَنَّةَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
Those whom
تَتَوَفَّىٰهُمُ
tatawaffāhumu
take them in death
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ
l-malāikatu
the Angels
طَيِّبِينَ
ṭayyibīna
(when they are) pure
يَقُولُونَ
yaqūlūna
saying
سَلَـٰمٌ
salāmun
Peace
عَلَيْكُمُ
ʿalaykumu
(be) upon you
ٱدْخُلُوا۟
ud'khulū
Enter
ٱلْجَنَّةَ
l-janata
Paradise
بِمَا
bimā
for what
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you used (to)
تَعْمَلُونَ
taʿmalūna
do
The ones whom the angels take in death, [being] good and pure; [the angels] will say, "Peace be upon you. Enter Paradise for what you used to do."

16:33
Ayah 16:33
هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ أَوْ يَأْتِىَ أَمْرُ رَبِّكَ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ فَعَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ وَمَا ظَلَمَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَلَـٰكِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ
هَلْ
hal
Do
يَنظُرُونَ
yanẓurūna
they wait
إِلَّآ
illā
except
أَن
an
that
تَأْتِيَهُمُ
tatiyahumu
(should) come to them
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ
l-malāikatu
the Angels
أَوْ
aw
or
يَأْتِىَ
yatiya
(should) come
أَمْرُ
amru
(the) Command
رَبِّكَ
rabbika
(of) your Lord
كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhālika
Thus
فَعَلَ
faʿala
did
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
مِن
min
(were) before them
قَبْلِهِمْ
qablihim
(were) before them
وَمَا
wamā
And not
ظَلَمَهُمُ
ẓalamahumu
wronged them
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
وَلَـٰكِن
walākin
but
كَانُوٓا۟
kānū
they were
أَنفُسَهُمْ
anfusahum
themselves
يَظْلِمُونَ
yaẓlimūna
wronging
Do they [i.e., the disbelievers] await except that the angels should come to them or there comes the command of your Lord? Thus did those do before them. And Allāh wronged them not, but they had been wronging themselves.

16:34
Ayah 16:34
فَأَصَابَهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتُ مَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
فَأَصَابَهُمْ
fa-aṣābahum
Then struck them
سَيِّـَٔاتُ
sayyiātu
(the) evil (results)
مَا
(of) what
عَمِلُوا۟
ʿamilū
they did
وَحَاقَ
waḥāqa
and surrounded
بِهِم
bihim
them
مَّا
what
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they used (to)
بِهِۦ
bihi
[of it]
يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
yastahziūna
mock
So they were struck by the evil consequences of what they did and were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.

16:35
Ayah 16:35
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا۟ لَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مَا عَبَدْنَا مِن دُونِهِۦ مِن شَىْءٍ نَّحْنُ وَلَآ ءَابَآؤُنَا وَلَا حَرَّمْنَا مِن دُونِهِۦ مِن شَىْءٍ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ فَعَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ فَهَلْ عَلَى ٱلرُّسُلِ إِلَّا ٱلْبَلَـٰغُ ٱلْمُبِينُ
وَقَالَ
waqāla
And said
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
أَشْرَكُوا۟
ashrakū
associate partners (with Allah)
لَوْ
law
If
شَآءَ
shāa
Allah (had) willed
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah (had) willed
مَا
not
عَبَدْنَا
ʿabadnā
we (would) have worshipped
مِن
min
other than Him
دُونِهِۦ
dūnihi
other than Him
مِن
min
any
شَىْءٍ
shayin
thing
نَّحْنُ
naḥnu
we
وَلَآ
walā
and not
ءَابَآؤُنَا
ābāunā
our forefathers
وَلَا
walā
and not
حَرَّمْنَا
ḥarramnā
we (would) have forbidden
مِن
min
other than Him
دُونِهِۦ
dūnihi
other than Him
مِن
min
anything
شَىْءٍ
shayin
anything
كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhālika
Thus
فَعَلَ
faʿala
did
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
مِن
min
(were) before them
قَبْلِهِمْ
qablihim
(were) before them
فَهَلْ
fahal
Then is (there)
عَلَى
ʿalā
on
ٱلرُّسُلِ
l-rusuli
the messengers
إِلَّا
illā
except
ٱلْبَلَـٰغُ
l-balāghu
the conveyance
ٱلْمُبِينُ
l-mubīnu
clear
And those who associate others with Allāh say, "If Allāh had willed, we would not have worshipped anything other than Him, neither we nor our fathers, nor would we have forbidden anything through other than Him." Thus did those do before them. So is there upon the messengers except [the duty of] clear notification?

16:36
Ayah 16:36
وَلَقَدْ بَعَثْنَا فِى كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ رَّسُولًا أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱجْتَنِبُوا۟ ٱلطَّـٰغُوتَ ۖ فَمِنْهُم مَّنْ هَدَى ٱللَّهُ وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ حَقَّتْ عَلَيْهِ ٱلضَّلَـٰلَةُ ۚ فَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And certainly
بَعَثْنَا
baʿathnā
We sent
فِى
into
كُلِّ
kulli
every
أُمَّةٍ
ummatin
nation
رَّسُولًا
rasūlan
a Messenger
أَنِ
ani
that
ٱعْبُدُوا۟
uʿ'budū
Worship
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
وَٱجْتَنِبُوا۟
wa-ij'tanibū
and avoid
ٱلطَّـٰغُوتَ
l-ṭāghūta
the false deities
فَمِنْهُم
famin'hum
Then among them
مَّنْ
man
(were some) whom
هَدَى
hadā
Allah guided
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah guided
وَمِنْهُم
wamin'hum
and among them
مَّنْ
man
(were) some
حَقَّتْ
ḥaqqat
was justified
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhi
on them
ٱلضَّلَـٰلَةُ
l-ḍalālatu
the straying
فَسِيرُوا۟
fasīrū
So travel
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
فَٱنظُرُوا۟
fa-unẓurū
and see
كَيْفَ
kayfa
how
كَانَ
kāna
was
عَـٰقِبَةُ
ʿāqibatu
the end
ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
l-mukadhibīna
(of) the deniers
And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], "Worship Allāh and avoid ṭāghūt."1 And among them were those whom Allāh guided, and among them were those upon whom error was [deservedly] decreed. So proceed [i.e., travel] through the earth and observe how was the end of the deniers.

16:37
Ayah 16:37
إِن تَحْرِصْ عَلَىٰ هُدَىٰهُمْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى مَن يُضِلُّ ۖ وَمَا لَهُم مِّن نَّـٰصِرِينَ
إِن
in
If
تَحْرِصْ
taḥriṣ
you desire
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
[for]
هُدَىٰهُمْ
hudāhum
their guidance
فَإِنَّ
fa-inna
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
لَا
(will) not
يَهْدِى
yahdī
guide
مَن
man
whom
يُضِلُّ
yuḍillu
He lets go astray
وَمَا
wamā
and not (are)
لَهُم
lahum
for them
مِّن
min
any
نَّـٰصِرِينَ
nāṣirīna
helpers
[Even] if you should strive for their guidance, [O Muḥammad], indeed, Allāh does not guide those He sends astray,1 and they will have no helpers.

16:38
Ayah 16:38
وَأَقْسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَـٰنِهِمْ ۙ لَا يَبْعَثُ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَمُوتُ ۚ بَلَىٰ وَعْدًا عَلَيْهِ حَقًّا وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
وَأَقْسَمُوا۟
wa-aqsamū
And they swear
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
by Allah
جَهْدَ
jahda
strongest
أَيْمَـٰنِهِمْ
aymānihim
(of) their oaths
لَا
Allah will not resurrect
يَبْعَثُ
yabʿathu
Allah will not resurrect
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah will not resurrect
مَن
man
(one) who
يَمُوتُ
yamūtu
dies
بَلَىٰ
balā
Nay
وَعْدًا
waʿdan
(it is) a promise
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhi
upon Him
حَقًّا
ḥaqqan
(in) truth
وَلَـٰكِنَّ
walākinna
but
أَكْثَرَ
akthara
most
ٱلنَّاسِ
l-nāsi
(of) the mankind
لَا
(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūna
know
And they swear by Allāh their strongest oaths [that] Allāh will not resurrect one who dies. But yes - [it is] a true promise [binding] upon Him, but most of the people do not know.

16:39
Ayah 16:39
لِيُبَيِّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يَخْتَلِفُونَ فِيهِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ كَـٰذِبِينَ
لِيُبَيِّنَ
liyubayyina
That He will make clear
لَهُمُ
lahumu
to them
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
that
يَخْتَلِفُونَ
yakhtalifūna
they differ
فِيهِ
fīhi
wherein
وَلِيَعْلَمَ
waliyaʿlama
and that may know
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوٓا۟
kafarū
disbelieved
أَنَّهُمْ
annahum
that they
كَانُوا۟
kānū
were
كَـٰذِبِينَ
kādhibīna
liars
[It is] so He will make clear to them [the truth of] that wherein they differ and so those who have disbelieved may know that they were liars.

16:40
Ayah 16:40
إِنَّمَا قَوْلُنَا لِشَىْءٍ إِذَآ أَرَدْنَـٰهُ أَن نَّقُولَ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُ
إِنَّمَا
innamā
Only
قَوْلُنَا
qawlunā
Our Word
لِشَىْءٍ
lishayin
to a thing
إِذَآ
idhā
when
أَرَدْنَـٰهُ
aradnāhu
We intend it
أَن
an
(is) that
نَّقُولَ
naqūla
We say
لَهُۥ
lahu
to it
كُن
kun
Be
فَيَكُونُ
fayakūnu
and it is
Indeed, Our word to a thing when We intend it is but that We say to it, "Be," and it is.

16:41
Ayah 16:41
وَٱلَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا۟ فِى ٱللَّهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا۟ لَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُمْ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً ۖ وَلَأَجْرُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
And those who
هَاجَرُوا۟
hājarū
emigrated
فِى
in (the way)
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
مِنۢ
min
after
بَعْدِ
baʿdi
after
مَا
[what]
ظُلِمُوا۟
ẓulimū
they were wronged
لَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُمْ
lanubawwi-annahum
surely We will give them position
فِى
in
ٱلدُّنْيَا
l-dun'yā
the world
حَسَنَةً
ḥasanatan
good
وَلَأَجْرُ
wala-ajru
but surely the reward
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
l-ākhirati
(of) the Hereafter
أَكْبَرُ
akbaru
(is) greater
لَوْ
law
if
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they
يَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūna
know
And those who emigrated for [the cause of] Allāh after they had been wronged - We will surely settle them in this world in a good place; but the reward of the Hereafter is greater, if only they could know.

16:42
Ayah 16:42
ٱلَّذِينَ صَبَرُوا۟ وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
Those who
صَبَرُوا۟
ṣabarū
(are) patient
وَعَلَىٰ
waʿalā
and on
رَبِّهِمْ
rabbihim
their Lord
يَتَوَكَّلُونَ
yatawakkalūna
they put their trust
[They are] those who endured patiently and upon their Lord relied.

16:43
Ayah 16:43
وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ إِلَّا رِجَالًا نُّوحِىٓ إِلَيْهِمْ ۚ فَسْـَٔلُوٓا۟ أَهْلَ ٱلذِّكْرِ إِن كُنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
وَمَآ
wamā
And not
أَرْسَلْنَا
arsalnā
We sent
مِن
min
before you
قَبْلِكَ
qablika
before you
إِلَّا
illā
except
رِجَالًا
rijālan
men
نُّوحِىٓ
nūḥī
We revealed
إِلَيْهِمْ
ilayhim
to them
فَسْـَٔلُوٓا۟
fasalū
so ask
أَهْلَ
ahla
(the) people
ٱلذِّكْرِ
l-dhik'ri
(of) the Reminder
إِن
in
if
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you
لَا
(do) not
تَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūna
know
And We sent not before you except men to whom We revealed [Our message]. So ask the people of the message [i.e., former scriptures] if you do not know.

16:44
Ayah 16:44
بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ وَٱلزُّبُرِ ۗ وَأَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ٱلذِّكْرَ لِتُبَيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ مَا نُزِّلَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ
bil-bayināti
With the clear proofs
وَٱلزُّبُرِ
wal-zuburi
and the Books
وَأَنزَلْنَآ
wa-anzalnā
And We sent down
إِلَيْكَ
ilayka
to you
ٱلذِّكْرَ
l-dhik'ra
the Remembrance
لِتُبَيِّنَ
litubayyina
that you may make clear
لِلنَّاسِ
lilnnāsi
to the mankind
مَا
what
نُزِّلَ
nuzzila
has been sent down
إِلَيْهِمْ
ilayhim
to them
وَلَعَلَّهُمْ
walaʿallahum
and that they may
يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
yatafakkarūna
reflect
[We sent them] with clear proofs and written ordinances. And We revealed to you the message [i.e., the Qur’ān] that you may make clear to the people what was sent down to them and that they might give thought.

16:45
Ayah 16:45
أَفَأَمِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مَكَرُوا۟ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ أَن يَخْسِفَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ أَوْ يَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ
أَفَأَمِنَ
afa-amina
Do then feel secure
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
مَكَرُوا۟
makarū
plotted
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ
l-sayiāti
the evil deeds
أَن
an
that
يَخْسِفَ
yakhsifa
Allah will cave
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah will cave
بِهِمُ
bihimu
with them
ٱلْأَرْضَ
l-arḍa
the earth
أَوْ
aw
or
يَأْتِيَهُمُ
yatiyahumu
will come to them
ٱلْعَذَابُ
l-ʿadhābu
the punishment
مِنْ
min
from
حَيْثُ
ḥaythu
where
لَا
not
يَشْعُرُونَ
yashʿurūna
they perceive
Then, do those who have planned evil deeds feel secure that Allāh will not cause the earth to swallow them or that the punishment will not come upon them from where they do not perceive?

16:46
Ayah 16:46
أَوْ يَأْخُذَهُمْ فِى تَقَلُّبِهِمْ فَمَا هُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ
أَوْ
aw
Or
يَأْخُذَهُمْ
yakhudhahum
that He may seize them
فِى
in
تَقَلُّبِهِمْ
taqallubihim
their going to and fro
فَمَا
famā
then not
هُم
hum
they
بِمُعْجِزِينَ
bimuʿ'jizīna
will be able to escape
Or that He would not seize them during their [usual] activity, and they could not cause failure [i.e., escape from Him]?

16:47
Ayah 16:47
أَوْ يَأْخُذَهُمْ عَلَىٰ تَخَوُّفٍ فَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ لَرَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ
أَوْ
aw
Or
يَأْخُذَهُمْ
yakhudhahum
that He may seize them
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
with
تَخَوُّفٍ
takhawwufin
a gradual wasting
فَإِنَّ
fa-inna
But indeed
رَبَّكُمْ
rabbakum
your Lord
لَرَءُوفٌ
laraūfun
(is) surely Full of Kindness
رَّحِيمٌ
raḥīmun
Most Merciful
Or that He would not seize them gradually [in a state of dread]?1 But indeed, your Lord is Kind and Merciful.2

16:48
Ayah 16:48
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ مِن شَىْءٍ يَتَفَيَّؤُا۟ ظِلَـٰلُهُۥ عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَٱلشَّمَآئِلِ سُجَّدًا لِّلَّهِ وَهُمْ دَٰخِرُونَ
أَوَلَمْ
awalam
Have not
يَرَوْا۟
yaraw
they seen
إِلَىٰ
ilā
[towards]
مَا
what
خَلَقَ
khalaqa
Allah has created
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah has created
مِن
min
from
شَىْءٍ
shayin
a thing
يَتَفَيَّؤُا۟
yatafayya-u
Incline
ظِلَـٰلُهُۥ
ẓilāluhu
their shadows
عَنِ
ʿani
to
ٱلْيَمِينِ
l-yamīni
the right
وَٱلشَّمَآئِلِ
wal-shamāili
and to the left
سُجَّدًا
sujjadan
prostrating
لِّلَّهِ
lillahi
to Allah
وَهُمْ
wahum
while they
دَٰخِرُونَ
dākhirūna
(are) humble
Have they not considered what things Allāh has created? Their shadows incline to the right and to the left, prostrating to Allāh, while they [i.e., those creations] are humble.

16:49
Ayah 16:49
وَلِلَّهِ يَسْجُدُ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِن دَآبَّةٍ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ وَهُمْ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
وَلِلَّهِ
walillahi
And to Allah
يَسْجُدُ
yasjudu
prostrate
مَا
whatever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَمَا
wamā
and whatever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
مِن
min
of
دَآبَّةٍ
dābbatin
moving creatures
وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ
wal-malāikatu
and the Angels
وَهُمْ
wahum
and they
لَا
(are) not
يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
yastakbirūna
arrogant
And to Allāh prostrates whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth of creatures, and the angels [as well], and they are not arrogant.

16:50
Ayah 16:50
يَخَافُونَ رَبَّهُم مِّن فَوْقِهِمْ وَيَفْعَلُونَ مَا يُؤْمَرُونَ ۩
يَخَافُونَ
yakhāfūna
They fear
رَبَّهُم
rabbahum
their Lord
مِّن
min
above them
فَوْقِهِمْ
fawqihim
above them
وَيَفْعَلُونَ
wayafʿalūna
and they do
مَا
what
يُؤْمَرُونَ
yu'marūna
they are commanded
They fear their Lord above them, and they do what they are commanded.

16:51
Ayah 16:51
۞ وَقَالَ ٱللَّهُ لَا تَتَّخِذُوٓا۟ إِلَـٰهَيْنِ ٱثْنَيْنِ ۖ إِنَّمَا هُوَ إِلَـٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ ۖ فَإِيَّـٰىَ فَٱرْهَبُونِ
وَقَالَ
waqāla
And Allah has said
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
And Allah has said
لَا
(Do) not
تَتَّخِذُوٓا۟
tattakhidhū
take
إِلَـٰهَيْنِ
ilāhayni
[two] gods
ٱثْنَيْنِ
ith'nayni
two
إِنَّمَا
innamā
only
هُوَ
huwa
He
إِلَـٰهٌ
ilāhun
(is) God
وَٰحِدٌ
wāḥidun
One
فَإِيَّـٰىَ
fa-iyyāya
so Me Alone
فَٱرْهَبُونِ
fa-ir'habūni
you fear [Me]
And Allāh has said, "Do not take for yourselves two1 deities. He [i.e., Allāh] is but one God, so fear only Me."

16:52
Ayah 16:52
وَلَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَهُ ٱلدِّينُ وَاصِبًا ۚ أَفَغَيْرَ ٱللَّهِ تَتَّقُونَ
وَلَهُۥ
walahu
And to Him (belongs)
مَا
whatever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
wal-arḍi
and the earth
وَلَهُ
walahu
and to Him
ٱلدِّينُ
l-dīnu
(is due) the worship
وَاصِبًا
wāṣiban
constantly
أَفَغَيْرَ
afaghayra
Then is it other (than)
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
تَتَّقُونَ
tattaqūna
you fear
And to Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth, and to Him is [due] worship constantly. Then is it other than Allāh that you fear?

16:53
Ayah 16:53
وَمَا بِكُم مِّن نِّعْمَةٍ فَمِنَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ ثُمَّ إِذَا مَسَّكُمُ ٱلضُّرُّ فَإِلَيْهِ تَجْـَٔرُونَ
وَمَا
wamā
And whatever
بِكُم
bikum
you have
مِّن
min
of
نِّعْمَةٍ
niʿ'matin
favor
فَمِنَ
famina
(is) from
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
إِذَا
idhā
when
مَسَّكُمُ
massakumu
touches you
ٱلضُّرُّ
l-ḍuru
the adversity
فَإِلَيْهِ
fa-ilayhi
then to Him
تَجْـَٔرُونَ
tajarūna
you cry for help
And whatever you have of favor - it is from Allāh. Then when adversity touches you, to Him you cry for help.

16:54
Ayah 16:54
ثُمَّ إِذَا كَشَفَ ٱلضُّرَّ عَنكُمْ إِذَا فَرِيقٌ مِّنكُم بِرَبِّهِمْ يُشْرِكُونَ
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
إِذَا
idhā
when
كَشَفَ
kashafa
He removes
ٱلضُّرَّ
l-ḍura
the adversity
عَنكُمْ
ʿankum
from you
إِذَا
idhā
behold
فَرِيقٌ
farīqun
A group
مِّنكُم
minkum
of you
بِرَبِّهِمْ
birabbihim
with their Lord
يُشْرِكُونَ
yush'rikūna
associate others
Then when He removes the adversity from you, at once a party of you associates others with their Lord

16:55
Ayah 16:55
لِيَكْفُرُوا۟ بِمَآ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمْ ۚ فَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ ۖ فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ
لِيَكْفُرُوا۟
liyakfurū
So as to deny
بِمَآ
bimā
that which
ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمْ
ātaynāhum
We have given them
فَتَمَتَّعُوا۟
fatamattaʿū
Then enjoy yourselves
فَسَوْفَ
fasawfa
soon
تَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūna
you will know
So they will deny what We have given them. Then enjoy yourselves, for you are going to know.

16:56
Ayah 16:56
وَيَجْعَلُونَ لِمَا لَا يَعْلَمُونَ نَصِيبًا مِّمَّا رَزَقْنَـٰهُمْ ۗ تَٱللَّهِ لَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ عَمَّا كُنتُمْ تَفْتَرُونَ
وَيَجْعَلُونَ
wayajʿalūna
And they assign
لِمَا
limā
to what
لَا
not
يَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūna
they know
نَصِيبًا
naṣīban
a portion
مِّمَّا
mimmā
of what
رَزَقْنَـٰهُمْ
razaqnāhum
We have provided them
تَٱللَّهِ
tal-lahi
By Allah
لَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ
latus'alunna
surely you will be asked
عَمَّا
ʿammā
about what
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you used (to)
تَفْتَرُونَ
taftarūna
invent
And they assign to what they do not know1 [i.e., false deities] a portion of that which We have provided them. By Allāh, you will surely be questioned about what you used to invent.

16:57
Ayah 16:57
وَيَجْعَلُونَ لِلَّهِ ٱلْبَنَـٰتِ سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ ۙ وَلَهُم مَّا يَشْتَهُونَ
وَيَجْعَلُونَ
wayajʿalūna
And they assign
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
to Allah
ٱلْبَنَـٰتِ
l-banāti
daughters
سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ
sub'ḥānahu
Glory be to Him
وَلَهُم
walahum
And for them
مَّا
(is) what
يَشْتَهُونَ
yashtahūna
they desire
And they attribute to Allāh daughters1 - exalted is He - and for them is what they desire [i.e., sons].

16:58
Ayah 16:58
وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُم بِٱلْأُنثَىٰ ظَلَّ وَجْهُهُۥ مُسْوَدًّا وَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ
وَإِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
بُشِّرَ
bushira
is given good news
أَحَدُهُم
aḥaduhum
(to) one of them
بِٱلْأُنثَىٰ
bil-unthā
of a female
ظَلَّ
ẓalla
turns
وَجْهُهُۥ
wajhuhu
his face
مُسْوَدًّا
mus'waddan
dark
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
and he
كَظِيمٌ
kaẓīmun
suppresses grief
And when one of them is informed of [the birth of] a female, his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief.

16:59
Ayah 16:59
يَتَوَٰرَىٰ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ مِن سُوٓءِ مَا بُشِّرَ بِهِۦٓ ۚ أَيُمْسِكُهُۥ عَلَىٰ هُونٍ أَمْ يَدُسُّهُۥ فِى ٱلتُّرَابِ ۗ أَلَا سَآءَ مَا يَحْكُمُونَ
يَتَوَٰرَىٰ
yatawārā
He hides himself
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلْقَوْمِ
l-qawmi
the people
مِن
min
(because) of
سُوٓءِ
sūi
the evil
مَا
of what
بُشِّرَ
bushira
he has been given good news
بِهِۦٓ
bihi
about
أَيُمْسِكُهُۥ
ayum'sikuhu
Should he keep it
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
in
هُونٍ
hūnin
humiliation
أَمْ
am
or
يَدُسُّهُۥ
yadussuhu
bury it
فِى
in
ٱلتُّرَابِ
l-turābi
the dust
أَلَا
alā
Unquestionably
سَآءَ
sāa
evil
مَا
(is) what
يَحْكُمُونَ
yaḥkumūna
they decide
He hides himself from the people because of the ill of which he has been informed. Should he keep it in humiliation or bury it in the ground? Unquestionably, evil is what they decide.

16:60
Ayah 16:60
لِلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ مَثَلُ ٱلسَّوْءِ ۖ وَلِلَّهِ ٱلْمَثَلُ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ
لِلَّذِينَ
lilladhīna
For those who
لَا
(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūna
believe
بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
bil-ākhirati
in the Hereafter
مَثَلُ
mathalu
(is) a similitude
ٱلسَّوْءِ
l-sawi
(of) the evil
وَلِلَّهِ
walillahi
and for Allah
ٱلْمَثَلُ
l-mathalu
(is) the similitude
ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ
l-aʿlā
the Highest
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
And He
ٱلْعَزِيزُ
l-ʿazīzu
(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلْحَكِيمُ
l-ḥakīmu
All-Wise
For those who do not believe in the Hereafter is the description [i.e., an attribute] of evil;1 and for Allāh is the highest attribute. And He is Exalted in Might, the Wise.

16:61
Ayah 16:61
وَلَوْ يُؤَاخِذُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلنَّاسَ بِظُلْمِهِم مَّا تَرَكَ عَلَيْهَا مِن دَآبَّةٍ وَلَـٰكِن يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى ۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهُمْ لَا يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ سَاعَةً ۖ وَلَا يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ
وَلَوْ
walaw
And if
يُؤَاخِذُ
yuākhidhu
Allah were to seize
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah were to seize
ٱلنَّاسَ
l-nāsa
the mankind
بِظُلْمِهِم
biẓul'mihim
for their wrongdoing
مَّا
not
تَرَكَ
taraka
He (would) have left
عَلَيْهَا
ʿalayhā
upon it
مِن
min
any
دَآبَّةٍ
dābbatin
moving creature
وَلَـٰكِن
walākin
but
يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ
yu-akhiruhum
He defers them
إِلَىٰٓ
ilā
for
أَجَلٍ
ajalin
a term
مُّسَمًّى
musamman
appointed
فَإِذَا
fa-idhā
Then when
جَآءَ
jāa
comes
أَجَلُهُمْ
ajaluhum
their terms
لَا
not
يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ
yastakhirūna
they (will) remain behind
سَاعَةً
sāʿatan
an hour
وَلَا
walā
and not
يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ
yastaqdimūna
they can advance (it)
And if Allāh were to impose blame on the people for their wrongdoing, He would not have left upon it [i.e., the earth] any creature, but He defers them for a specified term. And when their term has come, they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it].

16:62
Ayah 16:62
وَيَجْعَلُونَ لِلَّهِ مَا يَكْرَهُونَ وَتَصِفُ أَلْسِنَتُهُمُ ٱلْكَذِبَ أَنَّ لَهُمُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۖ لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّ لَهُمُ ٱلنَّارَ وَأَنَّهُم مُّفْرَطُونَ
وَيَجْعَلُونَ
wayajʿalūna
And they assign
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
to Allah
مَا
what
يَكْرَهُونَ
yakrahūna
they dislike
وَتَصِفُ
wataṣifu
and assert
أَلْسِنَتُهُمُ
alsinatuhumu
their tongues
ٱلْكَذِبَ
l-kadhiba
the lie
أَنَّ
anna
that
لَهُمُ
lahumu
for them
ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ
l-ḥus'nā
(is) the best
لَا
No
جَرَمَ
jarama
doubt
أَنَّ
anna
that
لَهُمُ
lahumu
for them
ٱلنَّارَ
l-nāra
(is) the Fire
وَأَنَّهُم
wa-annahum
and that they
مُّفْرَطُونَ
muf'raṭūna
(will) be abandoned
And they attribute to Allāh that which they dislike [i.e., daughters], and their tongues assert the lie that they will have the best [from Him]. Assuredly, they will have the Fire, and they will be [therein] neglected.1

16:63
Ayah 16:63
تَٱللَّهِ لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَمٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ فَهُوَ وَلِيُّهُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
تَٱللَّهِ
tal-lahi
By Allah
لَقَدْ
laqad
certainly
أَرْسَلْنَآ
arsalnā
We have sent
إِلَىٰٓ
ilā
to
أُمَمٍ
umamin
nations
مِّن
min
before you
قَبْلِكَ
qablika
before you
فَزَيَّنَ
fazayyana
but made fair-seeming
لَهُمُ
lahumu
to them
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ
l-shayṭānu
the Shaitaan
أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ
aʿmālahum
their deeds
فَهُوَ
fahuwa
So he
وَلِيُّهُمُ
waliyyuhumu
(is) their ally
ٱلْيَوْمَ
l-yawma
today
وَلَهُمْ
walahum
and for them
عَذَابٌ
ʿadhābun
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٌ
alīmun
painful
By Allāh, We did certainly send [messengers] to nations before you, but Satan made their deeds attractive to them. And he is their [i.e., the disbelievers] ally today [as well], and they will have a painful punishment.

16:64
Ayah 16:64
وَمَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ إِلَّا لِتُبَيِّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ فِيهِ ۙ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ
وَمَآ
wamā
And not
أَنزَلْنَا
anzalnā
We revealed
عَلَيْكَ
ʿalayka
to you
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ
l-kitāba
the Book
إِلَّا
illā
except
لِتُبَيِّنَ
litubayyina
that you make clear
لَهُمُ
lahumu
to them
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
that which
ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟
ikh'talafū
they differed
فِيهِ
fīhi
in it
وَهُدًى
wahudan
and (as) a guidance
وَرَحْمَةً
waraḥmatan
and mercy
لِّقَوْمٍ
liqawmin
for a people
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūna
who believe
And We have not revealed to you the Book, [O Muḥammad], except for you to make clear to them that wherein they have differed and as guidance and mercy for a people who believe.

16:65
Ayah 16:65
وَٱللَّهُ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَأَحْيَا بِهِ ٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَآ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَسْمَعُونَ
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
أَنزَلَ
anzala
has sent down
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāi
the sky
مَآءً
māan
water
فَأَحْيَا
fa-aḥyā
then gives life
بِهِ
bihi
by it
ٱلْأَرْضَ
l-arḍa
(to) the earth
بَعْدَ
baʿda
after
مَوْتِهَآ
mawtihā
its death
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
فِى
in
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
that
لَـَٔايَةً
laāyatan
(is) surely a Sign
لِّقَوْمٍ
liqawmin
for a people
يَسْمَعُونَ
yasmaʿūna
who listen
And Allāh has sent down rain from the sky and given life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who listen.

16:66
Ayah 16:66
وَإِنَّ لَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ لَعِبْرَةً ۖ نُّسْقِيكُم مِّمَّا فِى بُطُونِهِۦ مِنۢ بَيْنِ فَرْثٍ وَدَمٍ لَّبَنًا خَالِصًا سَآئِغًا لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَ
وَإِنَّ
wa-inna
And indeed
لَكُمْ
lakum
for you
فِى
in
ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ
l-anʿāmi
the cattle
لَعِبْرَةً
laʿib'ratan
(is) a lesson
نُّسْقِيكُم
nus'qīkum
We give you to drink
مِّمَّا
mimmā
from what
فِى
(is) in
بُطُونِهِۦ
buṭūnihi
their bellies
مِنۢ
min
from
بَيْنِ
bayni
between
فَرْثٍ
farthin
bowels
وَدَمٍ
wadamin
and blood
لَّبَنًا
labanan
milk
خَالِصًا
khāliṣan
pure
سَآئِغًا
sāighan
palatable
لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَ
lilshāribīna
to the drinkers
And indeed, for you in grazing livestock is a lesson. We give you drink from what is in their bellies - between excretion and blood - pure milk, palatable to drinkers.

16:67
Ayah 16:67
وَمِن ثَمَرَٰتِ ٱلنَّخِيلِ وَٱلْأَعْنَـٰبِ تَتَّخِذُونَ مِنْهُ سَكَرًا وَرِزْقًا حَسَنًا ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ
وَمِن
wamin
And from
ثَمَرَٰتِ
thamarāti
fruits
ٱلنَّخِيلِ
l-nakhīli
the date-palm
وَٱلْأَعْنَـٰبِ
wal-aʿnābi
and the grapes
تَتَّخِذُونَ
tattakhidhūna
you take
مِنْهُ
min'hu
from it
سَكَرًا
sakaran
intoxicant
وَرِزْقًا
wariz'qan
and a provision
حَسَنًا
ḥasanan
good
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
فِى
in
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
that
لَـَٔايَةً
laāyatan
(is) surely a Sign
لِّقَوْمٍ
liqawmin
for a people
يَعْقِلُونَ
yaʿqilūna
who use reason
And from the fruits of the palm trees and grapevines you take intoxicant and good provision.1 Indeed in that is a sign for a people who reason.

16:68
Ayah 16:68
وَأَوْحَىٰ رَبُّكَ إِلَى ٱلنَّحْلِ أَنِ ٱتَّخِذِى مِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا وَمِنَ ٱلشَّجَرِ وَمِمَّا يَعْرِشُونَ
وَأَوْحَىٰ
wa-awḥā
And inspired
رَبُّكَ
rabbuka
your Lord
إِلَى
ilā
to
ٱلنَّحْلِ
l-naḥli
the bee
أَنِ
ani
[that]
ٱتَّخِذِى
ittakhidhī
Take
مِنَ
mina
among
ٱلْجِبَالِ
l-jibāli
the mountains
بُيُوتًا
buyūtan
houses
وَمِنَ
wamina
and among
ٱلشَّجَرِ
l-shajari
the trees
وَمِمَّا
wamimmā
and in what
يَعْرِشُونَ
yaʿrishūna
they construct
And your Lord inspired to the bee, "Take for yourself among the mountains, houses [i.e., hives], and among the trees and [in] that which they construct.

16:69
Ayah 16:69
ثُمَّ كُلِى مِن كُلِّ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ فَٱسْلُكِى سُبُلَ رَبِّكِ ذُلُلًا ۚ يَخْرُجُ مِنۢ بُطُونِهَا شَرَابٌ مُّخْتَلِفٌ أَلْوَٰنُهُۥ فِيهِ شِفَآءٌ لِّلنَّاسِ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
كُلِى
kulī
eat
مِن
min
from
كُلِّ
kulli
all
ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ
l-thamarāti
the fruits
فَٱسْلُكِى
fa-us'lukī
and follow
سُبُلَ
subula
(the) ways
رَبِّكِ
rabbiki
(of) your Lord
ذُلُلًا
dhululan
made smooth
يَخْرُجُ
yakhruju
Comes forth
مِنۢ
min
from
بُطُونِهَا
buṭūnihā
their bellies
شَرَابٌ
sharābun
a drink
مُّخْتَلِفٌ
mukh'talifun
(of) varying
أَلْوَٰنُهُۥ
alwānuhu
colors
فِيهِ
fīhi
in it
شِفَآءٌ
shifāon
(is) a healing
لِّلنَّاسِ
lilnnāsi
for the mankind
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
فِى
in
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
that
لَـَٔايَةً
laāyatan
(is) surely a Sign
لِّقَوْمٍ
liqawmin
for a people
يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
yatafakkarūna
who reflect
Then eat from all the fruits1 and follow the ways of your Lord laid down [for you]." There emerges from their bellies a drink, varying in colors, in which there is healing for people. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.

16:70
Ayah 16:70
وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ ثُمَّ يَتَوَفَّىٰكُمْ ۚ وَمِنكُم مَّن يُرَدُّ إِلَىٰٓ أَرْذَلِ ٱلْعُمُرِ لِكَىْ لَا يَعْلَمَ بَعْدَ عِلْمٍ شَيْـًٔا ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ قَدِيرٌ
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
خَلَقَكُمْ
khalaqakum
created you
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
يَتَوَفَّىٰكُمْ
yatawaffākum
will cause you to die
وَمِنكُم
waminkum
And among you
مَّن
man
(is one) who
يُرَدُّ
yuraddu
is sent back
إِلَىٰٓ
ilā
to
أَرْذَلِ
ardhali
the worst
ٱلْعُمُرِ
l-ʿumuri
(of) the age
لِكَىْ
likay
so that
لَا
not
يَعْلَمَ
yaʿlama
he will know
بَعْدَ
baʿda
after
عِلْمٍ
ʿil'min
knowledge
شَيْـًٔا
shayan
a thing
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
عَلِيمٌ
ʿalīmun
(is) All-Knowing
قَدِيرٌ
qadīrun
All-Powerful
And Allāh created you; then He will take you in death. And among you is he who is reversed to the most decrepit [old] age so that he will not know, after [having had] knowledge, a thing. Indeed, Allāh is Knowing and Competent.

16:71
Ayah 16:71
وَٱللَّهُ فَضَّلَ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ فِى ٱلرِّزْقِ ۚ فَمَا ٱلَّذِينَ فُضِّلُوا۟ بِرَآدِّى رِزْقِهِمْ عَلَىٰ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَـٰنُهُمْ فَهُمْ فِيهِ سَوَآءٌ ۚ أَفَبِنِعْمَةِ ٱللَّهِ يَجْحَدُونَ
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
فَضَّلَ
faḍḍala
has favored
بَعْضَكُمْ
baʿḍakum
some of you
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
over
بَعْضٍ
baʿḍin
others
فِى
in
ٱلرِّزْقِ
l-riz'qi
[the] provision
فَمَا
famā
But not
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
فُضِّلُوا۟
fuḍḍilū
were favored
بِرَآدِّى
birāddī
would hand over
رِزْقِهِمْ
riz'qihim
their provision
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
to
مَا
whom
مَلَكَتْ
malakat
possess
أَيْمَـٰنُهُمْ
aymānuhum
their right hands
فَهُمْ
fahum
so (that) they
فِيهِ
fīhi
(are) in it
سَوَآءٌ
sawāon
equal
أَفَبِنِعْمَةِ
afabiniʿ'mati
Then is it the Favor
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
of Allah
يَجْحَدُونَ
yajḥadūna
they reject
And Allāh has favored some of you over others in provision. But those who were favored [i.e., given more] would not hand over their provision to those whom their right hands possess [i.e., slaves] so they would be equal to them therein.1 Then is it the favor of Allāh they reject?

16:72
Ayah 16:72
وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا وَجَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنْ أَزْوَٰجِكُم بَنِينَ وَحَفَدَةً وَرَزَقَكُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ ۚ أَفَبِٱلْبَـٰطِلِ يُؤْمِنُونَ وَبِنِعْمَتِ ٱللَّهِ هُمْ يَكْفُرُونَ
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
جَعَلَ
jaʿala
(has) made
لَكُم
lakum
for you
مِّنْ
min
from
أَنفُسِكُمْ
anfusikum
yourselves
أَزْوَٰجًا
azwājan
spouses
وَجَعَلَ
wajaʿala
and has made
لَكُم
lakum
for you
مِّنْ
min
from
أَزْوَٰجِكُم
azwājikum
your spouses
بَنِينَ
banīna
sons
وَحَفَدَةً
waḥafadatan
and grandsons
وَرَزَقَكُم
warazaqakum
and has provided for you
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ
l-ṭayibāti
the good things
أَفَبِٱلْبَـٰطِلِ
afabil-bāṭili
Then in falsehood do
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūna
they believe
وَبِنِعْمَتِ
wabiniʿ'mati
and the Favor
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
of Allah
هُمْ
hum
they
يَكْفُرُونَ
yakfurūna
disbelieve
And Allāh has made for you from yourselves mates and has made for you from your mates sons and grandchildren and has provided for you from the good things. Then in falsehood do they believe and in the favor of Allāh they disbelieve?

16:73
Ayah 16:73
وَيَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَمْلِكُ لَهُمْ رِزْقًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ
وَيَعْبُدُونَ
wayaʿbudūna
And they worship
مِن
min
other than
دُونِ
dūni
other than
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
مَا
which
لَا
not
يَمْلِكُ
yamliku
possesses
لَهُمْ
lahum
for them
رِزْقًا
riz'qan
any provision
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
wal-arḍi
and the earth
شَيْـًٔا
shayan
[anything]
وَلَا
walā
and not
يَسْتَطِيعُونَ
yastaṭīʿūna
they are able
And they worship besides Allāh that which does not possess for them [the power of] provision from the heavens and the earth at all, and [in fact], they are unable.

16:74
Ayah 16:74
فَلَا تَضْرِبُوا۟ لِلَّهِ ٱلْأَمْثَالَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
فَلَا
falā
So (do) not
تَضْرِبُوا۟
taḍribū
put forth
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
for Allah
ٱلْأَمْثَالَ
l-amthāla
the similitude
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
يَعْلَمُ
yaʿlamu
knows
وَأَنتُمْ
wa-antum
and you
لَا
(do) not
تَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūna
know
So do not assert similarities to Allāh.1 Indeed, Allāh knows and you do not know.

16:75
Ayah 16:75
۞ ضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلًا عَبْدًا مَّمْلُوكًا لَّا يَقْدِرُ عَلَىٰ شَىْءٍ وَمَن رَّزَقْنَـٰهُ مِنَّا رِزْقًا حَسَنًا فَهُوَ يُنفِقُ مِنْهُ سِرًّا وَجَهْرًا ۖ هَلْ يَسْتَوُۥنَ ۚ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ۚ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
ضَرَبَ
ḍaraba
Allah sets forth
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah sets forth
مَثَلًا
mathalan
the example
عَبْدًا
ʿabdan
(of) a slave
مَّمْلُوكًا
mamlūkan
(who is) owned
لَّا
not
يَقْدِرُ
yaqdiru
he has power
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
on
شَىْءٍ
shayin
anything
وَمَن
waman
and (one) whom
رَّزَقْنَـٰهُ
razaqnāhu
We provided him
مِنَّا
minnā
from Us
رِزْقًا
riz'qan
a provision
حَسَنًا
ḥasanan
good
فَهُوَ
fahuwa
so he
يُنفِقُ
yunfiqu
spends
مِنْهُ
min'hu
from it
سِرًّا
sirran
secretly
وَجَهْرًا
wajahran
and publicly
هَلْ
hal
Can
يَسْتَوُۥنَ
yastawūna
they be equal
ٱلْحَمْدُ
l-ḥamdu
All praise
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
(is) for Allah
بَلْ
bal
Nay
أَكْثَرُهُمْ
aktharuhum
but most of them
لَا
(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūna
know
Allāh presents an example: a slave [who is] owned and unable to do a thing and he to whom We have provided from Us good provision, so he spends from it secretly and publicly. Can they be equal? Praise to Allāh! But most of them do not know.

16:76
Ayah 16:76
وَضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلًا رَّجُلَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَآ أَبْكَمُ لَا يَقْدِرُ عَلَىٰ شَىْءٍ وَهُوَ كَلٌّ عَلَىٰ مَوْلَىٰهُ أَيْنَمَا يُوَجِّههُّ لَا يَأْتِ بِخَيْرٍ ۖ هَلْ يَسْتَوِى هُوَ وَمَن يَأْمُرُ بِٱلْعَدْلِ ۙ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ
وَضَرَبَ
waḍaraba
And Allah sets forth
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
And Allah sets forth
مَثَلًا
mathalan
an example
رَّجُلَيْنِ
rajulayni
(of) two men
أَحَدُهُمَآ
aḥaduhumā
one of them
أَبْكَمُ
abkamu
(is) dumb
لَا
not
يَقْدِرُ
yaqdiru
he has power
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
on
شَىْءٍ
shayin
anything
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
while he
كَلٌّ
kallun
(is) a burden
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
on
مَوْلَىٰهُ
mawlāhu
his master
أَيْنَمَا
aynamā
Wherever
يُوَجِّههُّ
yuwajjihhu
he directs him
لَا
not
يَأْتِ
yati
he comes
بِخَيْرٍ
bikhayrin
with any good
هَلْ
hal
Is
يَسْتَوِى
yastawī
equal
هُوَ
huwa
he
وَمَن
waman
and (the one) who
يَأْمُرُ
yamuru
commands
بِٱلْعَدْلِ
bil-ʿadli
[of] justice
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
and he
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
(is) on
صِرَٰطٍ
ṣirāṭin
a path
مُّسْتَقِيمٍ
mus'taqīmin
straight
And Allāh presents an example of two men, one of them dumb and unable to do a thing, while he is a burden to his guardian. Wherever he directs him, he brings no good. Is he equal to one who commands justice, while he is on a straight path?

16:77
Ayah 16:77
وَلِلَّهِ غَيْبُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَمَآ أَمْرُ ٱلسَّاعَةِ إِلَّا كَلَمْحِ ٱلْبَصَرِ أَوْ هُوَ أَقْرَبُ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
وَلِلَّهِ
walillahi
And to Allah (belongs)
غَيْبُ
ghaybu
(the) unseen
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti
(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
wal-arḍi
and the earth
وَمَآ
wamā
And not
أَمْرُ
amru
(is the) matter
ٱلسَّاعَةِ
l-sāʿati
(of) the Hour
إِلَّا
illā
but
كَلَمْحِ
kalamḥi
as a twinkling
ٱلْبَصَرِ
l-baṣari
(of) the eye
أَوْ
aw
or
هُوَ
huwa
it
أَقْرَبُ
aqrabu
(is) nearer
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
on
كُلِّ
kulli
every
شَىْءٍ
shayin
thing
قَدِيرٌ
qadīrun
(is) All-Powerful
And to Allāh belongs the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth. And the command for the Hour is not but as a glance of the eye or even nearer. Indeed, Allāh is over all things competent.

16:78
Ayah 16:78
وَٱللَّهُ أَخْرَجَكُم مِّنۢ بُطُونِ أُمَّهَـٰتِكُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ شَيْـًٔا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَ وَٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةَ ۙ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
أَخْرَجَكُم
akhrajakum
brought you forth
مِّنۢ
min
from
بُطُونِ
buṭūni
the wombs
أُمَّهَـٰتِكُمْ
ummahātikum
(of) your mothers
لَا
not
تَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūna
knowing
شَيْـًٔا
shayan
anything
وَجَعَلَ
wajaʿala
and made
لَكُمُ
lakumu
for you
ٱلسَّمْعَ
l-samʿa
the hearing
وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَ
wal-abṣāra
and the sight
وَٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةَ
wal-afidata
and the hearts
لَعَلَّكُمْ
laʿallakum
so that you may
تَشْكُرُونَ
tashkurūna
give thanks
And Allāh has extracted you from the wombs of your mothers not knowing a thing, and He made for you hearing and vision and hearts [i.e., intellect] that perhaps you would be grateful.

16:79
Ayah 16:79
أَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَى ٱلطَّيْرِ مُسَخَّرَٰتٍ فِى جَوِّ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَا يُمْسِكُهُنَّ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ
أَلَمْ
alam
Do not
يَرَوْا۟
yaraw
they see
إِلَى
ilā
towards
ٱلطَّيْرِ
l-ṭayri
the birds
مُسَخَّرَٰتٍ
musakharātin
controlled
فِى
in
جَوِّ
jawwi
the midst
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāi
(of) the sky
مَا
None
يُمْسِكُهُنَّ
yum'sikuhunna
holds them up
إِلَّا
illā
except
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
فِى
in
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
that
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ
laāyātin
(are) Signs
لِّقَوْمٍ
liqawmin
for a people
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūna
who believe
Do they not see the birds controlled in the atmosphere of the sky? None holds them up except Allāh. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.

16:80
Ayah 16:80
وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنۢ بُيُوتِكُمْ سَكَنًا وَجَعَلَ لَكُم مِّن جُلُودِ ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ بُيُوتًا تَسْتَخِفُّونَهَا يَوْمَ ظَعْنِكُمْ وَيَوْمَ إِقَامَتِكُمْ ۙ وَمِنْ أَصْوَافِهَا وَأَوْبَارِهَا وَأَشْعَارِهَآ أَثَـٰثًا وَمَتَـٰعًا إِلَىٰ حِينٍ
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
جَعَلَ
jaʿala
(has) made
لَكُم
lakum
for you
مِّنۢ
min
[from]
بُيُوتِكُمْ
buyūtikum
your homes
سَكَنًا
sakanan
a resting place
وَجَعَلَ
wajaʿala
and made
لَكُم
lakum
for you
مِّن
min
from
جُلُودِ
julūdi
the hides
ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ
l-anʿāmi
(of) the cattle
بُيُوتًا
buyūtan
tents
تَسْتَخِفُّونَهَا
tastakhiffūnahā
which you find light
يَوْمَ
yawma
(on) the day
ظَعْنِكُمْ
ẓaʿnikum
(of) your travel
وَيَوْمَ
wayawma
and the day
إِقَامَتِكُمْ
iqāmatikum
(of) your encampment
وَمِنْ
wamin
and from
أَصْوَافِهَا
aṣwāfihā
their wool
وَأَوْبَارِهَا
wa-awbārihā
and their fur
وَأَشْعَارِهَآ
wa-ashʿārihā
and their hair
أَثَـٰثًا
athāthan
(is) furnishing
وَمَتَـٰعًا
wamatāʿan
and a provision
إِلَىٰ
ilā
for
حِينٍ
ḥīnin
a time
And Allāh has made for you from your homes a place of rest and made for you from the hides of the animals tents which you find light on your day of travel and your day of encampment; and from their wool, fur and hair is furnishing and enjoyment [i.e., provision] for a time.

16:81
Ayah 16:81
وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّمَّا خَلَقَ ظِلَـٰلًا وَجَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ أَكْنَـٰنًا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمْ سَرَٰبِيلَ تَقِيكُمُ ٱلْحَرَّ وَسَرَٰبِيلَ تَقِيكُم بَأْسَكُمْ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُتِمُّ نِعْمَتَهُۥ عَلَيْكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُسْلِمُونَ
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
جَعَلَ
jaʿala
(has) made
لَكُم
lakum
for you
مِّمَّا
mimmā
from what
خَلَقَ
khalaqa
He created
ظِلَـٰلًا
ẓilālan
shades
وَجَعَلَ
wajaʿala
and (has) made
لَكُم
lakum
for you
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱلْجِبَالِ
l-jibāli
the mountains
أَكْنَـٰنًا
aknānan
shelters
وَجَعَلَ
wajaʿala
and (has) made
لَكُمْ
lakum
for you
سَرَٰبِيلَ
sarābīla
garments
تَقِيكُمُ
taqīkumu
to protect you
ٱلْحَرَّ
l-ḥara
(from) the heat
وَسَرَٰبِيلَ
wasarābīla
and garments
تَقِيكُم
taqīkum
to protect you
بَأْسَكُمْ
basakum
from your (mutual) violence
كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhālika
Thus
يُتِمُّ
yutimmu
He completes
نِعْمَتَهُۥ
niʿ'matahu
His Favor
عَلَيْكُمْ
ʿalaykum
upon you
لَعَلَّكُمْ
laʿallakum
so that you may
تُسْلِمُونَ
tus'limūna
submit
And Allāh has made for you, from that which He has created, shadows [i.e., shade] and has made for you from the mountains, shelters and has made for you garments which protect you from the heat and garments [i.e., coats of mail] which protect you from your [enemy in] battle. Thus does He complete His favor upon you that you might submit [to Him].

16:82
Ayah 16:82
فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْبَلَـٰغُ ٱلْمُبِينُ
فَإِن
fa-in
Then, if
تَوَلَّوْا۟
tawallaw
they turn away
فَإِنَّمَا
fa-innamā
then only
عَلَيْكَ
ʿalayka
upon you
ٱلْبَلَـٰغُ
l-balāghu
(is) the conveyance
ٱلْمُبِينُ
l-mubīnu
the clear
But if they turn away, [O Muḥammad] - then only upon you is [responsibility for] clear notification.

16:83
Ayah 16:83
يَعْرِفُونَ نِعْمَتَ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ يُنكِرُونَهَا وَأَكْثَرُهُمُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ
يَعْرِفُونَ
yaʿrifūna
They recognize
نِعْمَتَ
niʿ'mata
(the) Favor
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
يُنكِرُونَهَا
yunkirūnahā
they deny it
وَأَكْثَرُهُمُ
wa-aktharuhumu
And most of them
ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ
l-kāfirūna
(are) the disbelievers
They recognize the favor of Allāh; then they deny it. And most of them are disbelievers.

16:84
Ayah 16:84
وَيَوْمَ نَبْعَثُ مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ شَهِيدًا ثُمَّ لَا يُؤْذَنُ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَلَا هُمْ يُسْتَعْتَبُونَ
وَيَوْمَ
wayawma
And the Day
نَبْعَثُ
nabʿathu
We will resurrect
مِن
min
from
كُلِّ
kulli
every
أُمَّةٍ
ummatin
nation
شَهِيدًا
shahīdan
a witness
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
لَا
not
يُؤْذَنُ
yu'dhanu
will be permitted
لِلَّذِينَ
lilladhīna
to those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieved
وَلَا
walā
and not
هُمْ
hum
they
يُسْتَعْتَبُونَ
yus'taʿtabūna
will be asked to make amends
And [mention] the Day when We will resurrect from every nation a witness [i.e., their prophet]. Then it will not be permitted to the disbelievers [to apologize or make excuses], nor will they be asked to appease [Allāh].

16:85
Ayah 16:85
وَإِذَا رَءَا ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ فَلَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنظَرُونَ
وَإِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
رَءَا
raā
(will) see
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
ظَلَمُوا۟
ẓalamū
wronged
ٱلْعَذَابَ
l-ʿadhāba
the punishment
فَلَا
falā
then not
يُخَفَّفُ
yukhaffafu
it will be lightened
عَنْهُمْ
ʿanhum
for them
وَلَا
walā
and not
هُمْ
hum
they
يُنظَرُونَ
yunẓarūna
will be given respite
And when those who wronged see the punishment, it will not be lightened for them, nor will they be reprieved.

16:86
Ayah 16:86
وَإِذَا رَءَا ٱلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا۟ شُرَكَآءَهُمْ قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ شُرَكَآؤُنَا ٱلَّذِينَ كُنَّا نَدْعُوا۟ مِن دُونِكَ ۖ فَأَلْقَوْا۟ إِلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقَوْلَ إِنَّكُمْ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ
وَإِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
رَءَا
raā
(will) see
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
أَشْرَكُوا۟
ashrakū
associated partners with Allah
شُرَكَآءَهُمْ
shurakāahum
their partners
قَالُوا۟
qālū
They will say
رَبَّنَا
rabbanā
Our Lord
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
hāulāi
these
شُرَكَآؤُنَا
shurakāunā
(are) our partners
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those whom
كُنَّا
kunnā
we used to
نَدْعُوا۟
nadʿū
invoke
مِن
min
besides You
دُونِكَ
dūnika
besides You
فَأَلْقَوْا۟
fa-alqaw
But they (will) throw back
إِلَيْهِمُ
ilayhimu
at them
ٱلْقَوْلَ
l-qawla
(their) word
إِنَّكُمْ
innakum
Indeed, you
لَكَـٰذِبُونَ
lakādhibūna
(are) surely liars
And when those who associated others with Allāh see their "partners," they will say, "Our Lord, these are our partners [to You] whom we used to invoke [in worship] besides You." But they will throw at them the statement, "Indeed, you are liars."

16:87
Ayah 16:87
وَأَلْقَوْا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلسَّلَمَ ۖ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ
وَأَلْقَوْا۟
wa-alqaw
And they (will) offer
إِلَى
ilā
to
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
يَوْمَئِذٍ
yawma-idhin
(on) that Day
ٱلسَّلَمَ
l-salama
the submission
وَضَلَّ
waḍalla
and (is) lost
عَنْهُم
ʿanhum
from them
مَّا
what
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they used (to)
يَفْتَرُونَ
yaftarūna
invent
And they will impart to Allāh that Day [their] submission, and lost from them is what they used to invent.

16:88
Ayah 16:88
ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ زِدْنَـٰهُمْ عَذَابًا فَوْقَ ٱلْعَذَابِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يُفْسِدُونَ
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
And those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieved
وَصَدُّوا۟
waṣaddū
and hindered
عَن
ʿan
from
سَبِيلِ
sabīli
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
زِدْنَـٰهُمْ
zid'nāhum
We will increase them
عَذَابًا
ʿadhāban
(in) punishment
فَوْقَ
fawqa
over
ٱلْعَذَابِ
l-ʿadhābi
punishment
بِمَا
bimā
because
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they used (to)
يُفْسِدُونَ
yuf'sidūna
spread corruption
Those who disbelieved and averted [others] from the way of Allāh - We will increase them in punishment over [their] punishment for what corruption they were causing.

16:89
Ayah 16:89
وَيَوْمَ نَبْعَثُ فِى كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ شَهِيدًا عَلَيْهِم مِّنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ ۖ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ شَهِيدًا عَلَىٰ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ ۚ وَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ تِبْيَـٰنًا لِّكُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ
وَيَوْمَ
wayawma
And the Day
نَبْعَثُ
nabʿathu
We will resurrect
فِى
among
كُلِّ
kulli
every
أُمَّةٍ
ummatin
nation
شَهِيدًا
shahīdan
a witness
عَلَيْهِم
ʿalayhim
over them
مِّنْ
min
from
أَنفُسِهِمْ
anfusihim
themselves
وَجِئْنَا
waji'nā
And We (will) bring
بِكَ
bika
you
شَهِيدًا
shahīdan
(as) a witness
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
over
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
hāulāi
these
وَنَزَّلْنَا
wanazzalnā
And We sent down
عَلَيْكَ
ʿalayka
to you
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ
l-kitāba
the Book
تِبْيَـٰنًا
tib'yānan
(as) a clarification
لِّكُلِّ
likulli
of every
شَىْءٍ
shayin
thing
وَهُدًى
wahudan
and a guidance
وَرَحْمَةً
waraḥmatan
and mercy
وَبُشْرَىٰ
wabush'rā
and glad tidings
لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ
lil'mus'limīna
for the Muslims
And [mention] the Day when We will resurrect among every nation a witness over them from themselves [i.e., their prophet]. And We will bring you, [O Muḥammad], as a witness over these [i.e., your nation]. And We have sent down to you the Book as clarification for all things and as guidance and mercy and good tidings for the Muslims.1

16:90
Ayah 16:90
۞ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَأْمُرُ بِٱلْعَدْلِ وَٱلْإِحْسَـٰنِ وَإِيتَآئِ ذِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَيَنْهَىٰ عَنِ ٱلْفَحْشَآءِ وَٱلْمُنكَرِ وَٱلْبَغْىِ ۚ يَعِظُكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
يَأْمُرُ
yamuru
commands
بِٱلْعَدْلِ
bil-ʿadli
justice
وَٱلْإِحْسَـٰنِ
wal-iḥ'sāni
and the good
وَإِيتَآئِ
waītāi
and giving
ذِى
dhī
(to) relatives
ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ
l-qur'bā
(to) relatives
وَيَنْهَىٰ
wayanhā
and forbids
عَنِ
ʿani
[from]
ٱلْفَحْشَآءِ
l-faḥshāi
the immorality
وَٱلْمُنكَرِ
wal-munkari
and the bad
وَٱلْبَغْىِ
wal-baghyi
and the oppression
يَعِظُكُمْ
yaʿiẓukum
He admonishes you
لَعَلَّكُمْ
laʿallakum
so that you may
تَذَكَّرُونَ
tadhakkarūna
take heed
Indeed, Allāh orders justice and good conduct and giving [help] to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded.

16:91
Ayah 16:91
وَأَوْفُوا۟ بِعَهْدِ ٱللَّهِ إِذَا عَـٰهَدتُّمْ وَلَا تَنقُضُوا۟ ٱلْأَيْمَـٰنَ بَعْدَ تَوْكِيدِهَا وَقَدْ جَعَلْتُمُ ٱللَّهَ عَلَيْكُمْ كَفِيلًا ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ
وَأَوْفُوا۟
wa-awfū
And fulfil
بِعَهْدِ
biʿahdi
the covenant
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
إِذَا
idhā
when
عَـٰهَدتُّمْ
ʿāhadttum
you have taken a covenant
وَلَا
walā
and (do) not
تَنقُضُوا۟
tanquḍū
break
ٱلْأَيْمَـٰنَ
l-aymāna
oaths
بَعْدَ
baʿda
after
تَوْكِيدِهَا
tawkīdihā
their confirmation
وَقَدْ
waqad
while verily
جَعَلْتُمُ
jaʿaltumu
you have made
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
عَلَيْكُمْ
ʿalaykum
over you
كَفِيلًا
kafīlan
a surety
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
يَعْلَمُ
yaʿlamu
knows
مَا
what
تَفْعَلُونَ
tafʿalūna
you do
And fulfill the covenant of Allāh when you have taken it, [O believers], and do not break oaths after their confirmation while you have made Allāh, over you, a security [i.e., witness]. Indeed, Allāh knows what you do.

16:92
Ayah 16:92
وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّتِى نَقَضَتْ غَزْلَهَا مِنۢ بَعْدِ قُوَّةٍ أَنكَـٰثًا تَتَّخِذُونَ أَيْمَـٰنَكُمْ دَخَلًۢا بَيْنَكُمْ أَن تَكُونَ أُمَّةٌ هِىَ أَرْبَىٰ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ ۚ إِنَّمَا يَبْلُوكُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِهِۦ ۚ وَلَيُبَيِّنَنَّ لَكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ مَا كُنتُمْ فِيهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَ
وَلَا
walā
And (do) not
تَكُونُوا۟
takūnū
be
كَٱلَّتِى
ka-allatī
like her who
نَقَضَتْ
naqaḍat
untwists
غَزْلَهَا
ghazlahā
her spun yarn
مِنۢ
min
after
بَعْدِ
baʿdi
after
قُوَّةٍ
quwwatin
strength
أَنكَـٰثًا
ankāthan
(into) untwisted strands
تَتَّخِذُونَ
tattakhidhūna
you take
أَيْمَـٰنَكُمْ
aymānakum
your oaths
دَخَلًۢا
dakhalan
(as) a deception
بَيْنَكُمْ
baynakum
between you
أَن
an
because
تَكُونَ
takūna
is
أُمَّةٌ
ummatun
a community
هِىَ
hiya
[it]
أَرْبَىٰ
arbā
more numerous
مِنْ
min
than
أُمَّةٍ
ummatin
(another) community
إِنَّمَا
innamā
Only
يَبْلُوكُمُ
yablūkumu
Allah tests you
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah tests you
بِهِۦ
bihi
by it
وَلَيُبَيِّنَنَّ
walayubayyinanna
And He will make clear
لَكُمْ
lakum
to you
يَوْمَ
yawma
(on) the Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ
l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
مَا
what
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you used (to)
فِيهِ
fīhi
in it
تَخْتَلِفُونَ
takhtalifūna
differ
And do not be like she who untwisted her spun thread after it was strong [by] taking your oaths as [means of] deceit between you because one community is more plentiful [in number or wealth] than another community.1 Allāh only tries you thereby. And He will surely make clear to you on the Day of Resurrection that over which you used to differ.

16:93
Ayah 16:93
وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَجَعَلَكُمْ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً وَلَـٰكِن يُضِلُّ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَلَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ عَمَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
وَلَوْ
walaw
And if
شَآءَ
shāa
Allah (had) willed
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah (had) willed
لَجَعَلَكُمْ
lajaʿalakum
surely He (could) have made you
أُمَّةً
ummatan
a nation
وَٰحِدَةً
wāḥidatan
one
وَلَـٰكِن
walākin
but
يُضِلُّ
yuḍillu
He lets go astray
مَن
man
whom
يَشَآءُ
yashāu
He wills
وَيَهْدِى
wayahdī
and guides
مَن
man
whom
يَشَآءُ
yashāu
He wills
وَلَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ
walatus'alunna
And surely you will be questioned
عَمَّا
ʿammā
about what
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you used (to)
تَعْمَلُونَ
taʿmalūna
do
And if Allāh had willed, He could have made you [of] one religion, but He sends astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills.1 And you will surely be questioned about what you used to do.

16:94
Ayah 16:94
وَلَا تَتَّخِذُوٓا۟ أَيْمَـٰنَكُمْ دَخَلًۢا بَيْنَكُمْ فَتَزِلَّ قَدَمٌۢ بَعْدَ ثُبُوتِهَا وَتَذُوقُوا۟ ٱلسُّوٓءَ بِمَا صَدَدتُّمْ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ وَلَكُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ
وَلَا
walā
And (do) not
تَتَّخِذُوٓا۟
tattakhidhū
take
أَيْمَـٰنَكُمْ
aymānakum
your oaths
دَخَلًۢا
dakhalan
(as) a deception
بَيْنَكُمْ
baynakum
between you
فَتَزِلَّ
fatazilla
lest, should slip
قَدَمٌۢ
qadamun
a foot
بَعْدَ
baʿda
after
ثُبُوتِهَا
thubūtihā
it is firmly planted
وَتَذُوقُوا۟
watadhūqū
and you would taste
ٱلسُّوٓءَ
l-sūa
the evil
بِمَا
bimā
for what
صَدَدتُّمْ
ṣadadttum
you hindered
عَن
ʿan
from
سَبِيلِ
sabīli
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَلَكُمْ
walakum
and for you
عَذَابٌ
ʿadhābun
(is) a punishment
عَظِيمٌ
ʿaẓīmun
great
And do not take your oaths as [means of] deceit between you, lest a foot slip after it was [once] firm, and you would taste evil [in this world] for what [people] you diverted from the way of Allāh,1 and you would have [in the Hereafter] a great punishment.

16:95
Ayah 16:95
وَلَا تَشْتَرُوا۟ بِعَهْدِ ٱللَّهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا ۚ إِنَّمَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
وَلَا
walā
And (do) not
تَشْتَرُوا۟
tashtarū
exchange
بِعَهْدِ
biʿahdi
the covenant
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
ثَمَنًا
thamanan
(for) a price
قَلِيلًا
qalīlan
little
إِنَّمَا
innamā
Indeed, what
عِندَ
ʿinda
(is) with
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
هُوَ
huwa
it
خَيْرٌ
khayrun
(is) better
لَّكُمْ
lakum
for you
إِن
in
if
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you were (to)
تَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūna
know
And do not exchange the covenant of Allāh for a small price. Indeed, what is with Allāh is best for you, if only you could know.
— The Clear Quran, Dr. Mustafa Khattab
16:96
Ayah 16:96
مَا عِندَكُمْ يَنفَدُ ۖ وَمَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ بَاقٍ ۗ وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ صَبَرُوٓا۟ أَجْرَهُم بِأَحْسَنِ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
مَا
Whatever
عِندَكُمْ
ʿindakum
(is) with you
يَنفَدُ
yanfadu
will be exhausted
وَمَا
wamā
and whatever
عِندَ
ʿinda
(is) with
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
بَاقٍ
bāqin
(will) be remaining
وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّ
walanajziyanna
And surely We will pay
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
صَبَرُوٓا۟
ṣabarū
(are) patient
أَجْرَهُم
ajrahum
their reward
بِأَحْسَنِ
bi-aḥsani
to (the) best
مَا
(of) what
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they used (to)
يَعْمَلُونَ
yaʿmalūna
do
Whatever you have will end, but what Allāh has is lasting. And We will surely give those who were patient their reward according to the best of what they used to do.

16:97
Ayah 16:97
مَنْ عَمِلَ صَـٰلِحًا مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنثَىٰ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَلَنُحْيِيَنَّهُۥ حَيَوٰةً طَيِّبَةً ۖ وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْرَهُم بِأَحْسَنِ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
مَنْ
man
Whoever
عَمِلَ
ʿamila
does
صَـٰلِحًا
ṣāliḥan
righteous deeds
مِّن
min
whether
ذَكَرٍ
dhakarin
male
أَوْ
aw
or
أُنثَىٰ
unthā
female
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
while he
مُؤْمِنٌ
mu'minun
(is) a believer
فَلَنُحْيِيَنَّهُۥ
falanuḥ'yiyannahu
then surely We will give him life
حَيَوٰةً
ḥayatan
a life
طَيِّبَةً
ṭayyibatan
good
وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْ
walanajziyannahum
and We will pay them
أَجْرَهُم
ajrahum
their reward
بِأَحْسَنِ
bi-aḥsani
to (the) best
مَا
of what
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they used (to)
يَعْمَلُونَ
yaʿmalūna
do
Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do.

16:98
Ayah 16:98
فَإِذَا قَرَأْتَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ فَٱسْتَعِذْ بِٱللَّهِ مِنَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ ٱلرَّجِيمِ
فَإِذَا
fa-idhā
So when
قَرَأْتَ
qarata
you recite
ٱلْقُرْءَانَ
l-qur'āna
the Quran
فَٱسْتَعِذْ
fa-is'taʿidh
seek refuge
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
in Allah
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ
l-shayṭāni
the Shaitaan
ٱلرَّجِيمِ
l-rajīmi
the accursed
So when you recite the Qur’ān, [first] seek refuge in Allāh from Satan, the expelled [from His mercy].

16:99
Ayah 16:99
إِنَّهُۥ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ سُلْطَـٰنٌ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed he
لَيْسَ
laysa
not
لَهُۥ
lahu
for him
سُلْطَـٰنٌ
sul'ṭānun
(is) any authority
عَلَى
ʿalā
on
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanū
believe
وَعَلَىٰ
waʿalā
and upon
رَبِّهِمْ
rabbihim
their Lord
يَتَوَكَّلُونَ
yatawakkalūna
they put their trust
Indeed, there is for him no authority over those who have believed and rely upon their Lord.

16:100
Ayah 16:100
إِنَّمَا سُلْطَـٰنُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يَتَوَلَّوْنَهُۥ وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِهِۦ مُشْرِكُونَ
إِنَّمَا
innamā
Only
سُلْطَـٰنُهُۥ
sul'ṭānuhu
his authority
عَلَى
ʿalā
(is) over
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
يَتَوَلَّوْنَهُۥ
yatawallawnahu
take him as an ally
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
and those who
هُم
hum
[they]
بِهِۦ
bihi
with Him
مُشْرِكُونَ
mush'rikūna
associate partners
His authority is only over those who take him as an ally and those who through him associate others with Allāh.

16:101
Ayah 16:101
وَإِذَا بَدَّلْنَآ ءَايَةً مَّكَانَ ءَايَةٍ ۙ وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُنَزِّلُ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُفْتَرٍۭ ۚ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
وَإِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
بَدَّلْنَآ
baddalnā
We substitute
ءَايَةً
āyatan
a Verse
مَّكَانَ
makāna
(in) place
ءَايَةٍ
āyatin
(of) a Verse
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
and Allah
أَعْلَمُ
aʿlamu
(is) most knowing
بِمَا
bimā
of what
يُنَزِّلُ
yunazzilu
He sends down
قَالُوٓا۟
qālū
they say
إِنَّمَآ
innamā
Only
أَنتَ
anta
you
مُفْتَرٍۭ
muf'tarin
(are) an inventor
بَلْ
bal
Nay
أَكْثَرُهُمْ
aktharuhum
most of them
لَا
(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūna
know
And when We substitute a verse in place of a verse - and Allāh is most knowing of what He sends down - they say, "You, [O Muḥammad], are but an inventor [of lies]." But most of them do not know.

16:102
Ayah 16:102
قُلْ نَزَّلَهُۥ رُوحُ ٱلْقُدُسِ مِن رَّبِّكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ لِيُثَبِّتَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَهُدًى وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ
قُلْ
qul
Say
نَزَّلَهُۥ
nazzalahu
Has brought it down
رُوحُ
rūḥu
the Holy Spirit
ٱلْقُدُسِ
l-qudusi
the Holy Spirit
مِن
min
from
رَّبِّكَ
rabbika
your Lord
بِٱلْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqi
in truth
لِيُثَبِّتَ
liyuthabbita
to make firm
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanū
believe
وَهُدًى
wahudan
and (as) a guidance
وَبُشْرَىٰ
wabush'rā
and glad tidings
لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ
lil'mus'limīna
to the Muslims
Say, [O Muḥammad], "The Pure Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] has brought it down from your Lord in truth to make firm those who believe and as guidance and good tidings to the Muslims."

16:103
Ayah 16:103
وَلَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ إِنَّمَا يُعَلِّمُهُۥ بَشَرٌ ۗ لِّسَانُ ٱلَّذِى يُلْحِدُونَ إِلَيْهِ أَعْجَمِىٌّ وَهَـٰذَا لِسَانٌ عَرَبِىٌّ مُّبِينٌ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And certainly
نَعْلَمُ
naʿlamu
We know
أَنَّهُمْ
annahum
that they
يَقُولُونَ
yaqūlūna
say
إِنَّمَا
innamā
Only
يُعَلِّمُهُۥ
yuʿallimuhu
teaches him
بَشَرٌ
basharun
a human being
لِّسَانُ
lisānu
(The) tongue
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
(of) the one
يُلْحِدُونَ
yul'ḥidūna
they refer
إِلَيْهِ
ilayhi
to him
أَعْجَمِىٌّ
aʿjamiyyun
(is) foreign
وَهَـٰذَا
wahādhā
while this
لِسَانٌ
lisānun
(is) a language
عَرَبِىٌّ
ʿarabiyyun
Arabic
مُّبِينٌ
mubīnun
clear
And We certainly know that they say, "It is only a human being who teaches him [i.e., the Prophet (ﷺ)]." The tongue of the one they refer to is foreign,1 and this [recitation, i.e., Qur’ān] is [in] a clear Arabic language.

16:104
Ayah 16:104
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ لَا يَهْدِيهِمُ ٱللَّهُ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
لَا
(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūna
believe
بِـَٔايَـٰتِ
biāyāti
in the Verses
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
لَا
not
يَهْدِيهِمُ
yahdīhimu
Allah will guide them
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah will guide them
وَلَهُمْ
walahum
and for them
عَذَابٌ
ʿadhābun
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٌ
alīmun
painful
Indeed, those who do not believe in the verses of Allāh - Allāh will not guide them, and for them is a painful punishment.

16:105
Ayah 16:105
إِنَّمَا يَفْتَرِى ٱلْكَذِبَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَـٰذِبُونَ
إِنَّمَا
innamā
Only
يَفْتَرِى
yaftarī
they invent
ٱلْكَذِبَ
l-kadhiba
the falsehood
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
لَا
(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūna
believe
بِـَٔايَـٰتِ
biāyāti
in the Verses
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
wa-ulāika
and those
هُمُ
humu
they
ٱلْكَـٰذِبُونَ
l-kādhibūna
(are) the liars
They only invent falsehood who do not believe in the verses of Allāh, and it is those who are the liars.

16:106
Ayah 16:106
مَن كَفَرَ بِٱللَّهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ إِيمَـٰنِهِۦٓ إِلَّا مَنْ أُكْرِهَ وَقَلْبُهُۥ مُطْمَئِنٌّۢ بِٱلْإِيمَـٰنِ وَلَـٰكِن مَّن شَرَحَ بِٱلْكُفْرِ صَدْرًا فَعَلَيْهِمْ غَضَبٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ
مَن
man
Whoever
كَفَرَ
kafara
disbelieves
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
in Allah
مِنۢ
min
after
بَعْدِ
baʿdi
after
إِيمَـٰنِهِۦٓ
īmānihi
his belief
إِلَّا
illā
except
مَنْ
man
(one) who
أُكْرِهَ
uk'riha
is forced
وَقَلْبُهُۥ
waqalbuhu
while his heart
مُطْمَئِنٌّۢ
muṭ'ma-innun
(is) content
بِٱلْإِيمَـٰنِ
bil-īmāni
with the faith
وَلَـٰكِن
walākin
But
مَّن
man
(one) who
شَرَحَ
sharaḥa
opens
بِٱلْكُفْرِ
bil-kuf'ri
to disbelief
صَدْرًا
ṣadran
(his) breast
فَعَلَيْهِمْ
faʿalayhim
then upon them
غَضَبٌ
ghaḍabun
(is) a wrath
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
وَلَهُمْ
walahum
and for them
عَذَابٌ
ʿadhābun
(is) a punishment
عَظِيمٌ
ʿaẓīmun
great
Whoever disbelieves in [i.e., denies] Allāh after his belief...1 except for one who is forced [to renounce his religion] while his heart is secure in faith. But those who [willingly] open their breasts to disbelief, upon them is wrath from Allāh, and for them is a great punishment;

16:107
Ayah 16:107
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمُ ٱسْتَحَبُّوا۟ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا عَلَى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
That (is)
بِأَنَّهُمُ
bi-annahumu
because
ٱسْتَحَبُّوا۟
is'taḥabbū
they preferred
ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ
l-ḥayata
the life
ٱلدُّنْيَا
l-dun'yā
(of) the world
عَلَى
ʿalā
over
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
l-ākhirati
the Hereafter
وَأَنَّ
wa-anna
and that
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
لَا
(does) not
يَهْدِى
yahdī
guide
ٱلْقَوْمَ
l-qawma
the people
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
l-kāfirīna
the disbelievers
That is because they preferred the worldly life over the Hereafter and that Allāh does not guide the disbelieving people.

16:108
Ayah 16:108
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ طَبَعَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ وَسَمْعِهِمْ وَأَبْصَـٰرِهِمْ ۖ وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْغَـٰفِلُونَ
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
Those
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
(are) the ones
طَبَعَ
ṭabaʿa
Allah has set a seal
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah has set a seal
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
over
قُلُوبِهِمْ
qulūbihim
their hearts
وَسَمْعِهِمْ
wasamʿihim
and their hearing
وَأَبْصَـٰرِهِمْ
wa-abṣārihim
and their sight
وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
wa-ulāika
And those
هُمُ
humu
they are
ٱلْغَـٰفِلُونَ
l-ghāfilūna
the heedless
Those are the ones over whose hearts and hearing and vision Allāh has sealed, and it is those who are the heedless.

16:109
Ayah 16:109
لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّهُمْ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ هُمُ ٱلْخَـٰسِرُونَ
لَا
No
جَرَمَ
jarama
doubt
أَنَّهُمْ
annahum
that they
فِى
in
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
l-ākhirati
the Hereafter
هُمُ
humu
[they]
ٱلْخَـٰسِرُونَ
l-khāsirūna
(are) the losers
Assuredly, it is they, in the Hereafter, who will be the losers.

16:110
Ayah 16:110
ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لِلَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا فُتِنُوا۟ ثُمَّ جَـٰهَدُوا۟ وَصَبَرُوٓا۟ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهَا لَغَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
إِنَّ
inna
indeed
رَبَّكَ
rabbaka
your Lord
لِلَّذِينَ
lilladhīna
to those who
هَاجَرُوا۟
hājarū
emigrated
مِنۢ
min
after
بَعْدِ
baʿdi
after
مَا
what
فُتِنُوا۟
futinū
they had been put to trials
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
جَـٰهَدُوا۟
jāhadū
strove hard
وَصَبَرُوٓا۟
waṣabarū
and were patient
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
رَبَّكَ
rabbaka
your Lord
مِنۢ
min
after it
بَعْدِهَا
baʿdihā
after it
لَغَفُورٌ
laghafūrun
surely is Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌ
raḥīmun
Most Merciful
Then, indeed your Lord, to those who emigrated after they had been compelled [to say words of disbelief] and thereafter fought [for the cause of Allāh] and were patient - indeed, your Lord, after that, is Forgiving and Merciful

16:111
Ayah 16:111
۞ يَوْمَ تَأْتِى كُلُّ نَفْسٍ تُجَـٰدِلُ عَن نَّفْسِهَا وَتُوَفَّىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّا عَمِلَتْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ
يَوْمَ
yawma
(On) the Day
تَأْتِى
tatī
(when) will come
كُلُّ
kullu
every
نَفْسٍ
nafsin
soul
تُجَـٰدِلُ
tujādilu
pleading
عَن
ʿan
for
نَّفْسِهَا
nafsihā
itself
وَتُوَفَّىٰ
watuwaffā
and will be paid in full
كُلُّ
kullu
every
نَفْسٍ
nafsin
soul
مَّا
what
عَمِلَتْ
ʿamilat
it did
وَهُمْ
wahum
and they
لَا
(will) not
يُظْلَمُونَ
yuẓ'lamūna
be wronged
On the Day when every soul will come disputing [i.e., pleading] for itself, and every soul will be fully compensated for what it did, and they will not be wronged [i.e., treated unjustly].

16:112
Ayah 16:112
وَضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلًا قَرْيَةً كَانَتْ ءَامِنَةً مُّطْمَئِنَّةً يَأْتِيهَا رِزْقُهَا رَغَدًا مِّن كُلِّ مَكَانٍ فَكَفَرَتْ بِأَنْعُمِ ٱللَّهِ فَأَذَٰقَهَا ٱللَّهُ لِبَاسَ ٱلْجُوعِ وَٱلْخَوْفِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَصْنَعُونَ
وَضَرَبَ
waḍaraba
And Allah sets forth
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
And Allah sets forth
مَثَلًا
mathalan
a similitude
قَرْيَةً
qaryatan
(of) a town
كَانَتْ
kānat
(that) was
ءَامِنَةً
āminatan
secure
مُّطْمَئِنَّةً
muṭ'ma-innatan
and content
يَأْتِيهَا
yatīhā
coming to it
رِزْقُهَا
riz'quhā
its provision
رَغَدًا
raghadan
(in) abundance
مِّن
min
from
كُلِّ
kulli
every
مَكَانٍ
makānin
place
فَكَفَرَتْ
fakafarat
but it denied
بِأَنْعُمِ
bi-anʿumi
(the) Favors of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(the) Favors of Allah
فَأَذَٰقَهَا
fa-adhāqahā
so Allah made it taste
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
so Allah made it taste
لِبَاسَ
libāsa
(the) garb
ٱلْجُوعِ
l-jūʿi
(of) the hunger
وَٱلْخَوْفِ
wal-khawfi
and the fear
بِمَا
bimā
for what
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they used (to)
يَصْنَعُونَ
yaṣnaʿūna
do
And Allāh presents an example: a city [i.e., Makkah] which was safe and secure, its provision coming to it in abundance from every location, but it denied the favors of Allāh. So Allāh made it taste the envelopment of hunger and fear for what they had been doing.

16:113
Ayah 16:113
وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مِّنْهُمْ فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ وَهُمْ ظَـٰلِمُونَ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And certainly
جَآءَهُمْ
jāahum
came to them
رَسُولٌ
rasūlun
a Messenger
مِّنْهُمْ
min'hum
from among them
فَكَذَّبُوهُ
fakadhabūhu
but they denied him
فَأَخَذَهُمُ
fa-akhadhahumu
so seized them
ٱلْعَذَابُ
l-ʿadhābu
the punishment
وَهُمْ
wahum
while they
ظَـٰلِمُونَ
ẓālimūna
(were) wrongdoers
And there had certainly come to them a Messenger from among themselves, but they denied him; so punishment overtook them while they were wrongdoers.

16:114
Ayah 16:114
فَكُلُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ حَلَـٰلًا طَيِّبًا وَٱشْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَتَ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمْ إِيَّاهُ تَعْبُدُونَ
فَكُلُوا۟
fakulū
So eat
مِمَّا
mimmā
of what
رَزَقَكُمُ
razaqakumu
Allah has provided you
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah has provided you
حَلَـٰلًا
ḥalālan
lawful
طَيِّبًا
ṭayyiban
and good
وَٱشْكُرُوا۟
wa-ush'kurū
And be grateful
نِعْمَتَ
niʿ'mata
(for the) Favor
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
إِن
in
if
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
[you]
إِيَّاهُ
iyyāhu
Him Alone
تَعْبُدُونَ
taʿbudūna
you worship
Then eat of what Allāh has provided for you [which is] lawful and good. And be grateful for the favor of Allāh, if it is [indeed] Him that you worship.

16:115
Ayah 16:115
إِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْمَيْتَةَ وَٱلدَّمَ وَلَحْمَ ٱلْخِنزِيرِ وَمَآ أُهِلَّ لِغَيْرِ ٱللَّهِ بِهِۦ ۖ فَمَنِ ٱضْطُرَّ غَيْرَ بَاغٍ وَلَا عَادٍ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
إِنَّمَا
innamā
Only
حَرَّمَ
ḥarrama
He has forbidden
عَلَيْكُمُ
ʿalaykumu
to you
ٱلْمَيْتَةَ
l-maytata
the dead animal
وَٱلدَّمَ
wal-dama
and the blood
وَلَحْمَ
walaḥma
and the flesh
ٱلْخِنزِيرِ
l-khinzīri
(of) the swine
وَمَآ
wamā
and what
أُهِلَّ
uhilla
has been dedicated
لِغَيْرِ
lighayri
to other (than)
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
بِهِۦ
bihi
[with it]
فَمَنِ
famani
But (if) one
ٱضْطُرَّ
uḍ'ṭurra
(is) forced
غَيْرَ
ghayra
without (being)
بَاغٍ
bāghin
disobedient
وَلَا
walā
and not
عَادٍ
ʿādin
a transgressor
فَإِنَّ
fa-inna
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
غَفُورٌ
ghafūrun
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌ
raḥīmun
Most Merciful
He has only forbidden to you dead animals,1 blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allāh. But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit] - then indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.

16:116
Ayah 16:116
وَلَا تَقُولُوا۟ لِمَا تَصِفُ أَلْسِنَتُكُمُ ٱلْكَذِبَ هَـٰذَا حَلَـٰلٌ وَهَـٰذَا حَرَامٌ لِّتَفْتَرُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَفْتَرُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ لَا يُفْلِحُونَ
وَلَا
walā
And (do) not
تَقُولُوا۟
taqūlū
say
لِمَا
limā
for that which
تَصِفُ
taṣifu
assert
أَلْسِنَتُكُمُ
alsinatukumu
your tongues
ٱلْكَذِبَ
l-kadhiba
the lie
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
This
حَلَـٰلٌ
ḥalālun
(is) lawful
وَهَـٰذَا
wahādhā
and this
حَرَامٌ
ḥarāmun
(is) forbidden
لِّتَفْتَرُوا۟
litaftarū
so that you invent
عَلَى
ʿalā
about
ٱللَّهِ

ٱلْكَذِبَ
l-kadhiba
the lie
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
يَفْتَرُونَ
yaftarūna
invent
عَلَى
ʿalā
about
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
ٱلْكَذِبَ
l-kadhiba
the lie
لَا
they will not succeed
يُفْلِحُونَ
yuf'liḥūna
they will not succeed
And do not say about what your tongues assert of untruth, "This is lawful and this is unlawful," to invent falsehood about Allāh. Indeed, those who invent falsehood about Allāh will not succeed.

16:117
Ayah 16:117
مَتَـٰعٌ قَلِيلٌ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
مَتَـٰعٌ
matāʿun
An enjoyment
قَلِيلٌ
qalīlun
little
وَلَهُمْ
walahum
and for them
عَذَابٌ
ʿadhābun
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٌ
alīmun
painful
[It is but] a brief enjoyment, and they will have a painful punishment.

16:118
Ayah 16:118
وَعَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ حَرَّمْنَا مَا قَصَصْنَا عَلَيْكَ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ وَمَا ظَلَمْنَـٰهُمْ وَلَـٰكِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ
وَعَلَى
waʿalā
And to
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
هَادُوا۟
hādū
are Jews
حَرَّمْنَا
ḥarramnā
We have forbidden
مَا
what
قَصَصْنَا
qaṣaṣnā
We related
عَلَيْكَ
ʿalayka
to you
مِن
min
before
قَبْلُ
qablu
before
وَمَا
wamā
And not
ظَلَمْنَـٰهُمْ
ẓalamnāhum
We wronged them
وَلَـٰكِن
walākin
but
كَانُوٓا۟
kānū
they used (to)
أَنفُسَهُمْ
anfusahum
themselves
يَظْلِمُونَ
yaẓlimūna
wrong
And to those who are Jews We have prohibited that which We related to you before.1 And We did not wrong them [thereby], but they were wronging themselves.

16:119
Ayah 16:119
ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لِلَّذِينَ عَمِلُوا۟ ٱلسُّوٓءَ بِجَهَـٰلَةٍ ثُمَّ تَابُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ وَأَصْلَحُوٓا۟ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهَا لَغَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
إِنَّ
inna
indeed
رَبَّكَ
rabbaka
your Lord
لِلَّذِينَ
lilladhīna
to those who
عَمِلُوا۟
ʿamilū
did
ٱلسُّوٓءَ
l-sūa
evil
بِجَهَـٰلَةٍ
bijahālatin
in ignorance
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
تَابُوا۟
tābū
repented
مِنۢ
min
after
بَعْدِ
baʿdi
after
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
that
وَأَصْلَحُوٓا۟
wa-aṣlaḥū
and corrected themselves
إِنَّ
inna
indeed
رَبَّكَ
rabbaka
your Lord
مِنۢ
min
after that
بَعْدِهَا
baʿdihā
after that
لَغَفُورٌ
laghafūrun
(is) surely Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌ
raḥīmun
Most Merciful
Then, indeed your Lord, to those who have done wrong out of ignorance and then repent after that and correct themselves - indeed, your Lord, thereafter, is Forgiving and Merciful.

16:120
Ayah 16:120
إِنَّ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ كَانَ أُمَّةً قَانِتًا لِّلَّهِ حَنِيفًا وَلَمْ يَكُ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
ib'rāhīma
Ibrahim
كَانَ
kāna
was
أُمَّةً
ummatan
a nation
قَانِتًا
qānitan
obedient
لِّلَّهِ
lillahi
to Allah
حَنِيفًا
ḥanīfan
upright
وَلَمْ
walam
and not
يَكُ
yaku
he was
مِنَ
mina
of
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
l-mush'rikīna
the polytheists
Indeed, Abraham was a [comprehensive] leader,1 devoutly obedient to Allāh, inclining toward truth, and he was not of those who associate others with Allāh.

16:121
Ayah 16:121
شَاكِرًا لِّأَنْعُمِهِ ۚ ٱجْتَبَىٰهُ وَهَدَىٰهُ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ
شَاكِرًا
shākiran
Thankful
لِّأَنْعُمِهِ
li-anʿumihi
for His favors
ٱجْتَبَىٰهُ
ij'tabāhu
He chose him
وَهَدَىٰهُ
wahadāhu
and guided him
إِلَىٰ
ilā
to
صِرَٰطٍ
ṣirāṭin
the way
مُّسْتَقِيمٍ
mus'taqīmin
straight
[He was] grateful for His favors. He [i.e., Allāh] chose him and guided him to a straight path.

16:122
Ayah 16:122
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً ۖ وَإِنَّهُۥ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ لَمِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ
waātaynāhu
And We gave him
فِى
in
ٱلدُّنْيَا
l-dun'yā
the world
حَسَنَةً
ḥasanatan
good
وَإِنَّهُۥ
wa-innahu
and indeed, he
فِى
in
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
l-ākhirati
the Hereafter
لَمِنَ
lamina
(he) will surely (be) among
ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
l-ṣāliḥīna
the righteous
And We gave him good in this world, and indeed, in the Hereafter he will be among the righteous.

16:123
Ayah 16:123
ثُمَّ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ أَنِ ٱتَّبِعْ مِلَّةَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ حَنِيفًا ۖ وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
أَوْحَيْنَآ
awḥaynā
We revealed
إِلَيْكَ
ilayka
to you
أَنِ
ani
that
ٱتَّبِعْ
ittabiʿ
You follow
مِلَّةَ
millata
(the) religion
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
ib'rāhīma
(of) Ibrahim
حَنِيفًا
ḥanīfan
upright
وَمَا
wamā
and not
كَانَ
kāna
he was
مِنَ
mina
of
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
l-mush'rikīna
the polytheists
Then We revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], to follow the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth; and he was not of those who associate with Allāh.

16:124
Ayah 16:124
إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ ٱلسَّبْتُ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ فِيهِ ۚ وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَيَحْكُمُ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ فِيمَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ
إِنَّمَا
innamā
Only
جُعِلَ
juʿila
was appointed
ٱلسَّبْتُ
l-sabtu
the Sabbath
عَلَى
ʿalā
for
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟
ikh'talafū
differed
فِيهِ
fīhi
in it
وَإِنَّ
wa-inna
And indeed
رَبَّكَ
rabbaka
your Lord
لَيَحْكُمُ
layaḥkumu
will surely judge
بَيْنَهُمْ
baynahum
between them
يَوْمَ
yawma
(on) the Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ
l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
فِيمَا
fīmā
in what
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they used (to)
فِيهِ
fīhi
[in it]
يَخْتَلِفُونَ
yakhtalifūna
differ
The sabbath was only appointed for those who differed over it. And indeed, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ.

16:125
Ayah 16:125
ٱدْعُ إِلَىٰ سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِٱلْحِكْمَةِ وَٱلْمَوْعِظَةِ ٱلْحَسَنَةِ ۖ وَجَـٰدِلْهُم بِٱلَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ ۖ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ
ٱدْعُ
ud'ʿu
Call
إِلَىٰ
ilā
to
سَبِيلِ
sabīli
(the) way
رَبِّكَ
rabbika
(of) your Lord
بِٱلْحِكْمَةِ
bil-ḥik'mati
with the wisdom
وَٱلْمَوْعِظَةِ
wal-mawʿiẓati
and the instruction
ٱلْحَسَنَةِ
l-ḥasanati
the good
وَجَـٰدِلْهُم
wajādil'hum
and discuss with them
بِٱلَّتِى
bi-allatī
in that
هِىَ
hiya
which
أَحْسَنُ
aḥsanu
(is) best
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
رَبَّكَ
rabbaka
your Lord
هُوَ
huwa
He
أَعْلَمُ
aʿlamu
(is) most knowing
بِمَن
biman
of who
ضَلَّ
ḍalla
has strayed
عَن
ʿan
from
سَبِيلِهِۦ
sabīlihi
His way
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
And He
أَعْلَمُ
aʿlamu
(is) most knowing
بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ
bil-muh'tadīna
of the guided ones
Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly] guided.

16:126
Ayah 16:126
وَإِنْ عَاقَبْتُمْ فَعَاقِبُوا۟ بِمِثْلِ مَا عُوقِبْتُم بِهِۦ ۖ وَلَئِن صَبَرْتُمْ لَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لِّلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
وَإِنْ
wa-in
And if
عَاقَبْتُمْ
ʿāqabtum
you retaliate
فَعَاقِبُوا۟
faʿāqibū
then retaliate
بِمِثْلِ
bimith'li
with the like
مَا
of what
عُوقِبْتُم
ʿūqib'tum
you were afflicted
بِهِۦ
bihi
with [it]
وَلَئِن
wala-in
But if
صَبَرْتُمْ
ṣabartum
you are patient
لَهُوَ
lahuwa
surely (it) is
خَيْرٌ
khayrun
better
لِّلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
lilṣṣābirīna
for those who are patient
And if you punish [an enemy, O believers], punish with an equivalent of that with which you were harmed.1 But if you are patient - it is better for those who are patient.

16:127
Ayah 16:127
وَٱصْبِرْ وَمَا صَبْرُكَ إِلَّا بِٱللَّهِ ۚ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا تَكُ فِى ضَيْقٍ مِّمَّا يَمْكُرُونَ
وَٱصْبِرْ
wa-iṣ'bir
And be patient
وَمَا
wamā
and not
صَبْرُكَ
ṣabruka
(is) your patience
إِلَّا
illā
but
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
from Allah
وَلَا
walā
And (do) not
تَحْزَنْ
taḥzan
grieve
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
over them
وَلَا
walā
and (do) not
تَكُ
taku
be
فِى
in
ضَيْقٍ
ḍayqin
distress
مِّمَّا
mimmā
for what
يَمْكُرُونَ
yamkurūna
they plot
And be patient, [O Muḥammad], and your patience is not but through Allāh. And do not grieve over them and do not be in distress over what they conspire.

16:128
Ayah 16:128
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوا۟ وَّٱلَّذِينَ هُم مُّحْسِنُونَ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
مَعَ
maʿa
(is) with
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
ٱتَّقَوا۟
ittaqaw
fear (Him)
وَّٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
and those who
هُم
hum
[they]
مُّحْسِنُونَ
muḥ'sinūna
(are) good-doers
Indeed, Allāh is with those who fear Him and those who are doers of good.
