17:1
Ayah 17:1
سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَسْرَىٰ بِعَبْدِهِۦ لَيْلًا مِّنَ ٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ إِلَى ٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْأَقْصَا ٱلَّذِى بَـٰرَكْنَا حَوْلَهُۥ لِنُرِيَهُۥ مِنْ ءَايَـٰتِنَآ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْبَصِيرُ
سُبْحَـٰنَ
sub'ḥāna
Exalted
ٱلَّذِىٓ
alladhī
(is) the One Who
أَسْرَىٰ
asrā
took
بِعَبْدِهِۦ
biʿabdihi
His servant
لَيْلًا
laylan
(by) night
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱلْمَسْجِدِ
l-masjidi
Al-Masjid Al-Haraam
ٱلْحَرَامِ
l-ḥarāmi
Al-Masjid Al-Haraam
إِلَى
ilā
to
ٱلْمَسْجِدِ
l-masjidi
Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa
ٱلْأَقْصَا
l-aqṣā
Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
which
بَـٰرَكْنَا
bāraknā
We blessed
حَوْلَهُۥ
ḥawlahu
its surroundings
لِنُرِيَهُۥ
linuriyahu
that We may show him
مِنْ
min
of
ءَايَـٰتِنَآ
āyātinā
Our Signs
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed He
هُوَ
huwa
He
ٱلسَّمِيعُ
l-samīʿu
(is) the All-Hearer
ٱلْبَصِيرُ
l-baṣīru
the All-Seer
Exalted1 is He who took His Servant [i.e., Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ)] by night from al-Masjid al-Ḥarām to al-Masjid al-Aqṣā,2 whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing,3 the Seeing.4

17:2
Ayah 17:2
وَءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ هُدًى لِّبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ أَلَّا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ مِن دُونِى وَكِيلًا
وَءَاتَيْنَا
waātaynā
And We gave
مُوسَى
mūsā
Musa
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ
l-kitāba
the Book
وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ
wajaʿalnāhu
and made it
هُدًى
hudan
a guidance
لِّبَنِىٓ
libanī
for the Children
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
is'rāīla
(of) Israel
أَلَّا
allā
That not
تَتَّخِذُوا۟
tattakhidhū
you take
مِن
min
other than Me
دُونِى
dūnī
other than Me
وَكِيلًا
wakīlan
(as) a Disposer of affairs
And We gave Moses the Scripture and made it a guidance for the Children of Israel that you not take other than Me as Disposer of affairs,1

17:3
Ayah 17:3
ذُرِّيَّةَ مَنْ حَمَلْنَا مَعَ نُوحٍ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَبْدًا شَكُورًا
ذُرِّيَّةَ
dhurriyyata
Offsprings
مَنْ
man
(of one) who
حَمَلْنَا
ḥamalnā
We carried
مَعَ
maʿa
with
نُوحٍ
nūḥin
Nuh
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, he
كَانَ
kāna
was
عَبْدًا
ʿabdan
a servant
شَكُورًا
shakūran
grateful
O descendants of those We carried [in the ship] with Noah. Indeed, he was a grateful servant.

17:4
Ayah 17:4
وَقَضَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَتُفْسِدُنَّ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مَرَّتَيْنِ وَلَتَعْلُنَّ عُلُوًّا كَبِيرًا
وَقَضَيْنَآ
waqaḍaynā
And We decreed
إِلَىٰ
ilā
for
بَنِىٓ
banī
(the) Children
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
is'rāīla
(of) Israel
فِى
in
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
l-kitābi
the Book
لَتُفْسِدُنَّ
latuf'sidunna
Surely you will cause corruption
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
مَرَّتَيْنِ
marratayni
twice
وَلَتَعْلُنَّ
walataʿlunna
and surely you will reach
عُلُوًّا
ʿuluwwan
haughtiness
كَبِيرًا
kabīran
great
And We conveyed1 to the Children of Israel in the Scripture that, "You will surely cause corruption on the earth twice, and you will surely reach [a degree of] great haughtiness."

17:5
Ayah 17:5
فَإِذَا جَآءَ وَعْدُ أُولَىٰهُمَا بَعَثْنَا عَلَيْكُمْ عِبَادًا لَّنَآ أُو۟لِى بَأْسٍ شَدِيدٍ فَجَاسُوا۟ خِلَـٰلَ ٱلدِّيَارِ ۚ وَكَانَ وَعْدًا مَّفْعُولًا
فَإِذَا
fa-idhā
So when
جَآءَ
jāa
came
وَعْدُ
waʿdu
(the) promise
أُولَىٰهُمَا
ūlāhumā
(for) the first of the two
بَعَثْنَا
baʿathnā
We raised
عَلَيْكُمْ
ʿalaykum
against you
عِبَادًا
ʿibādan
servants
لَّنَآ
lanā
of Ours
أُو۟لِى
ulī
those of great military might
بَأْسٍ
basin
those of great military might
شَدِيدٍ
shadīdin
those of great military might
فَجَاسُوا۟
fajāsū
and they entered
خِلَـٰلَ
khilāla
the inner most part
ٱلدِّيَارِ
l-diyāri
(of) the homes
وَكَانَ
wakāna
and (it) was
وَعْدًا
waʿdan
a promise
مَّفْعُولًا
mafʿūlan
fulfilled
So when the [time of] promise came for the first of them,1 We sent against you servants of Ours - those of great military might, and they probed [even] into the homes,2 and it was a promise fulfilled.

17:6
Ayah 17:6
ثُمَّ رَدَدْنَا لَكُمُ ٱلْكَرَّةَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَأَمْدَدْنَـٰكُم بِأَمْوَٰلٍ وَبَنِينَ وَجَعَلْنَـٰكُمْ أَكْثَرَ نَفِيرًا
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
رَدَدْنَا
radadnā
We gave back
لَكُمُ
lakumu
to you
ٱلْكَرَّةَ
l-karata
the return victory
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
over them
وَأَمْدَدْنَـٰكُم
wa-amdadnākum
And We reinforced you
بِأَمْوَٰلٍ
bi-amwālin
with the wealth
وَبَنِينَ
wabanīna
and sons
وَجَعَلْنَـٰكُمْ
wajaʿalnākum
and made you
أَكْثَرَ
akthara
more
نَفِيرًا
nafīran
numerous
Then We gave back to you a return victory over them. And We reinforced you with wealth and sons and made you more numerous in manpower.

17:7
Ayah 17:7
إِنْ أَحْسَنتُمْ أَحْسَنتُمْ لِأَنفُسِكُمْ ۖ وَإِنْ أَسَأْتُمْ فَلَهَا ۚ فَإِذَا جَآءَ وَعْدُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ لِيَسُـۥٓـُٔوا۟ وُجُوهَكُمْ وَلِيَدْخُلُوا۟ ٱلْمَسْجِدَ كَمَا دَخَلُوهُ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَلِيُتَبِّرُوا۟ مَا عَلَوْا۟ تَتْبِيرًا
إِنْ
in
If
أَحْسَنتُمْ
aḥsantum
you do good
أَحْسَنتُمْ
aḥsantum
you do good
لِأَنفُسِكُمْ
li-anfusikum
for yourselves
وَإِنْ
wa-in
and if
أَسَأْتُمْ
asatum
you do evil
فَلَهَا
falahā
then it is for it
فَإِذَا
fa-idhā
So when
جَآءَ
jāa
came
وَعْدُ
waʿdu
promise
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
l-ākhirati
the last
لِيَسُـۥٓـُٔوا۟
liyasūū
to sadden
وُجُوهَكُمْ
wujūhakum
your faces
وَلِيَدْخُلُوا۟
waliyadkhulū
and to enter
ٱلْمَسْجِدَ
l-masjida
the Masjid
كَمَا
kamā
just as
دَخَلُوهُ
dakhalūhu
they (had) entered it
أَوَّلَ
awwala
first
مَرَّةٍ
marratin
time
وَلِيُتَبِّرُوا۟
waliyutabbirū
and to destroy
مَا
what
عَلَوْا۟
ʿalaw
they had conquered
تَتْبِيرًا
tatbīran
(with) destruction
[And said], "If you do good, you do good for yourselves; and if you do evil, [you do it] to them [i.e., yourselves]." Then when the final [i.e., second] promise came, [We sent your enemies] to sadden your faces and to enter the masjid [i.e., the temple in Jerusalem], as they entered it the first time, and to destroy what they had taken over with [total] destruction.

17:8
Ayah 17:8
عَسَىٰ رَبُّكُمْ أَن يَرْحَمَكُمْ ۚ وَإِنْ عُدتُّمْ عُدْنَا ۘ وَجَعَلْنَا جَهَنَّمَ لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ حَصِيرًا
عَسَىٰ
ʿasā
(It) may be
رَبُّكُمْ
rabbukum
that your Lord
أَن
an
that your Lord
يَرْحَمَكُمْ
yarḥamakum
(may) have mercy upon you
وَإِنْ
wa-in
But if
عُدتُّمْ
ʿudttum
you return
عُدْنَا
ʿud'nā
We will return
وَجَعَلْنَا
wajaʿalnā
And We have made
جَهَنَّمَ
jahannama
Hell
لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
lil'kāfirīna
for the disbelievers
حَصِيرًا
ḥaṣīran
a prison-bed
[Then Allāh said], "It is expected, [if you repent], that your Lord will have mercy upon you. But if you return [to sin], We will return [to punishment]. And We have made Hell, for the disbelievers, a prison-bed."

17:9
Ayah 17:9
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ يَهْدِى لِلَّتِى هِىَ أَقْوَمُ وَيُبَشِّرُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ أَنَّ لَهُمْ أَجْرًا كَبِيرًا
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
this
ٱلْقُرْءَانَ
l-qur'āna
the Quran
يَهْدِى
yahdī
guides
لِلَّتِى
lillatī
to that
هِىَ
hiya
which
أَقْوَمُ
aqwamu
(is) most straight
وَيُبَشِّرُ
wayubashiru
and gives glad tidings
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
l-mu'minīna
to the believers
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
يَعْمَلُونَ
yaʿmalūna
do
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ
l-ṣāliḥāti
the righteous deeds
أَنَّ
anna
that
لَهُمْ
lahum
for them
أَجْرًا
ajran
(is) a reward
كَبِيرًا
kabīran
great
Indeed, this Qur’ān guides to that which is most suitable and gives good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a great reward

17:10
Ayah 17:10
وَأَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ أَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا
وَأَنَّ
wa-anna
And that
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
لَا
(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūna
believe
بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
bil-ākhirati
in the Hereafter
أَعْتَدْنَا
aʿtadnā
We have prepared
لَهُمْ
lahum
for them
عَذَابًا
ʿadhāban
a punishment
أَلِيمًا
alīman
painful
And that those who do not believe in the Hereafter - We have prepared for them a painful punishment.

17:11
Ayah 17:11
وَيَدْعُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ بِٱلشَّرِّ دُعَآءَهُۥ بِٱلْخَيْرِ ۖ وَكَانَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ عَجُولًا
وَيَدْعُ
wayadʿu
And prays
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ
l-insānu
the man
بِٱلشَّرِّ
bil-shari
for evil
دُعَآءَهُۥ
duʿāahu
(as) he prays
بِٱلْخَيْرِ
bil-khayri
for the good
وَكَانَ
wakāna
And is
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ
l-insānu
the man
عَجُولًا
ʿajūlan
ever hasty
And man supplicates for evil [when angry] as he supplicates for good, and man is ever hasty.1

17:12
Ayah 17:12
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ ءَايَتَيْنِ ۖ فَمَحَوْنَآ ءَايَةَ ٱلَّيْلِ وَجَعَلْنَآ ءَايَةَ ٱلنَّهَارِ مُبْصِرَةً لِّتَبْتَغُوا۟ فَضْلًا مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَلِتَعْلَمُوا۟ عَدَدَ ٱلسِّنِينَ وَٱلْحِسَابَ ۚ وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ فَصَّلْنَـٰهُ تَفْصِيلًا
وَجَعَلْنَا
wajaʿalnā
And We have made
ٱلَّيْلَ
al-layla
the night
وَٱلنَّهَارَ
wal-nahāra
and the day
ءَايَتَيْنِ
āyatayni
(as) two signs
فَمَحَوْنَآ
famaḥawnā
Then We erased
ءَايَةَ
āyata
(the) sign
ٱلَّيْلِ
al-layli
(of) the night
وَجَعَلْنَآ
wajaʿalnā
and We made
ءَايَةَ
āyata
(the) sign
ٱلنَّهَارِ
l-nahāri
(of) the day
مُبْصِرَةً
mub'ṣiratan
visible
لِّتَبْتَغُوا۟
litabtaghū
that you may seek
فَضْلًا
faḍlan
bounty
مِّن
min
from
رَّبِّكُمْ
rabbikum
your Lord
وَلِتَعْلَمُوا۟
walitaʿlamū
and that you may know
عَدَدَ
ʿadada
(the) number
ٱلسِّنِينَ
l-sinīna
(of) the years
وَٱلْحِسَابَ
wal-ḥisāba
and the account
وَكُلَّ
wakulla
And every
شَىْءٍ
shayin
thing
فَصَّلْنَـٰهُ
faṣṣalnāhu
We have explained it
تَفْصِيلًا
tafṣīlan
(in) detail
And We have made the night and day two signs, and We erased the sign of the night and made the sign of the day visible1 that you may seek bounty from your Lord and may know the number of years and the account [of time]. And everything We have set out in detail.

17:13
Ayah 17:13
وَكُلَّ إِنسَـٰنٍ أَلْزَمْنَـٰهُ طَـٰٓئِرَهُۥ فِى عُنُقِهِۦ ۖ وَنُخْرِجُ لَهُۥ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ كِتَـٰبًا يَلْقَىٰهُ مَنشُورًا
وَكُلَّ
wakulla
And (for) every
إِنسَـٰنٍ
insānin
man
أَلْزَمْنَـٰهُ
alzamnāhu
We have fastened to him
طَـٰٓئِرَهُۥ
ṭāirahu
his fate
فِى
in
عُنُقِهِۦ
ʿunuqihi
his neck
وَنُخْرِجُ
wanukh'riju
and We will bring forth
لَهُۥ
lahu
for him
يَوْمَ
yawma
(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ
l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
كِتَـٰبًا
kitāban
a record
يَلْقَىٰهُ
yalqāhu
which he will find
مَنشُورًا
manshūran
wide open
And [for] every person We have imposed his fate upon his neck,1 and We will produce for him on the Day of Resurrection a record which he will encounter spread open.

17:14
Ayah 17:14
ٱقْرَأْ كِتَـٰبَكَ كَفَىٰ بِنَفْسِكَ ٱلْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكَ حَسِيبًا
ٱقْرَأْ
iq'ra
Read
كِتَـٰبَكَ
kitābaka
your record
كَفَىٰ
kafā
Sufficient
بِنَفْسِكَ
binafsika
(is) yourself
ٱلْيَوْمَ
l-yawma
today
عَلَيْكَ
ʿalayka
against you
حَسِيبًا
ḥasīban
(as) accountant
[It will be said], "Read your record. Sufficient is yourself against you this Day as accountant."

17:15
Ayah 17:15
مَّنِ ٱهْتَدَىٰ فَإِنَّمَا يَهْتَدِى لِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَإِنَّمَا يَضِلُّ عَلَيْهَا ۚ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ ۗ وَمَا كُنَّا مُعَذِّبِينَ حَتَّىٰ نَبْعَثَ رَسُولًا
مَّنِ
mani
Whoever
ٱهْتَدَىٰ
ih'tadā
(is) guided
فَإِنَّمَا
fa-innamā
then only
يَهْتَدِى
yahtadī
he is guided
لِنَفْسِهِۦ
linafsihi
for his soul
وَمَن
waman
And whoever
ضَلَّ
ḍalla
goes astray
فَإِنَّمَا
fa-innamā
then only
يَضِلُّ
yaḍillu
he goes astray
عَلَيْهَا
ʿalayhā
against it
وَلَا
walā
And not
تَزِرُ
taziru
will bear
وَازِرَةٌ
wāziratun
a bearer of burden
وِزْرَ
wiz'ra
burden
أُخْرَىٰ
ukh'rā
(of) another
وَمَا
wamā
And not
كُنَّا
kunnā
We
مُعَذِّبِينَ
muʿadhibīna
are to punish
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattā
until
نَبْعَثَ
nabʿatha
We have sent
رَسُولًا
rasūlan
a Messenger
Whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] his soul. And whoever errs only errs against it. And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And never would We punish until We sent a messenger.

17:16
Ayah 17:16
وَإِذَآ أَرَدْنَآ أَن نُّهْلِكَ قَرْيَةً أَمَرْنَا مُتْرَفِيهَا فَفَسَقُوا۟ فِيهَا فَحَقَّ عَلَيْهَا ٱلْقَوْلُ فَدَمَّرْنَـٰهَا تَدْمِيرًا
وَإِذَآ
wa-idhā
And when
أَرَدْنَآ
aradnā
We intend
أَن
an
that
نُّهْلِكَ
nuh'lika
We destroy
قَرْيَةً
qaryatan
a town
أَمَرْنَا
amarnā
We order
مُتْرَفِيهَا
mut'rafīhā
its wealthy people
فَفَسَقُوا۟
fafasaqū
but they defiantly disobey
فِيهَا
fīhā
therein
فَحَقَّ
faḥaqqa
so (is) proved true
عَلَيْهَا
ʿalayhā
against it
ٱلْقَوْلُ
l-qawlu
the word
فَدَمَّرْنَـٰهَا
fadammarnāhā
and We destroy it
تَدْمِيرًا
tadmīran
(with) destruction
And when We intend to destroy a city, We command its affluent1 but they defiantly disobey therein; so the word [i.e., deserved decree] comes into effect upon it, and We destroy it with [complete] destruction.

17:17
Ayah 17:17
وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِنَ ٱلْقُرُونِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ نُوحٍ ۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِرَبِّكَ بِذُنُوبِ عِبَادِهِۦ خَبِيرًۢا بَصِيرًا
وَكَمْ
wakam
And how many
أَهْلَكْنَا
ahlaknā
We destroyed
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلْقُرُونِ
l-qurūni
the generations
مِنۢ
min
after
بَعْدِ
baʿdi
after
نُوحٍ
nūḥin
Nuh
وَكَفَىٰ
wakafā
And sufficient
بِرَبِّكَ
birabbika
(is) your Lord
بِذُنُوبِ
bidhunūbi
concerning the sins
عِبَادِهِۦ
ʿibādihi
(of) His servants
خَبِيرًۢا
khabīran
All-Aware
بَصِيرًا
baṣīran
All-Seer
And how many have We destroyed from the generations after Noah. And sufficient is your Lord, concerning the sins of His servants, as Aware and Seeing.

17:18
Ayah 17:18
مَّن كَانَ يُرِيدُ ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ عَجَّلْنَا لَهُۥ فِيهَا مَا نَشَآءُ لِمَن نُّرِيدُ ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَا لَهُۥ جَهَنَّمَ يَصْلَىٰهَا مَذْمُومًا مَّدْحُورًا
مَّن
man
Whoever
كَانَ
kāna
should
يُرِيدُ
yurīdu
desire
ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ
l-ʿājilata
the immediate
عَجَّلْنَا
ʿajjalnā
We hasten
لَهُۥ
lahu
for him
فِيهَا
fīhā
in it
مَا
what
نَشَآءُ
nashāu
We will
لِمَن
liman
to whom
نُّرِيدُ
nurīdu
We intend
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
جَعَلْنَا
jaʿalnā
We have made
لَهُۥ
lahu
for him
جَهَنَّمَ
jahannama
Hell
يَصْلَىٰهَا
yaṣlāhā
he will burn
مَذْمُومًا
madhmūman
disgraced
مَّدْحُورًا
madḥūran
rejected
Whoever should desire the immediate1 - We hasten for him from it what We will to whom We intend. Then We have made for him Hell, which he will [enter to] burn, censured and banished.

17:19
Ayah 17:19
وَمَنْ أَرَادَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ وَسَعَىٰ لَهَا سَعْيَهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ كَانَ سَعْيُهُم مَّشْكُورًا
وَمَنْ
waman
And whoever
أَرَادَ
arāda
desires
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ
l-ākhirata
the Hereafter
وَسَعَىٰ
wasaʿā
and exerts
لَهَا
lahā
for it
سَعْيَهَا
saʿyahā
the effort
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
while he
مُؤْمِنٌ
mu'minun
(is) a believer
فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
fa-ulāika
then those
كَانَ
kāna
[are]
سَعْيُهُم
saʿyuhum
their effort
مَّشْكُورًا
mashkūran
(is) appreciated
But whoever desires the Hereafter and exerts the effort due to it while he is a believer - it is those whose effort is ever appreciated [by Allāh].

17:20
Ayah 17:20
كُلًّا نُّمِدُّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ وَهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ مِنْ عَطَآءِ رَبِّكَ ۚ وَمَا كَانَ عَطَآءُ رَبِّكَ مَحْظُورًا
كُلًّا
kullan
(To) each
نُّمِدُّ
numiddu
We extend
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
hāulāi
(to) these
وَهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
wahāulāi
and (to) these
مِنْ
min
from
عَطَآءِ
ʿaṭāi
(the) gift
رَبِّكَ
rabbika
(of) your Lord
وَمَا
wamā
And not
كَانَ
kāna
is
عَطَآءُ
ʿaṭāu
(the) gift
رَبِّكَ
rabbika
(of) your Lord
مَحْظُورًا
maḥẓūran
restricted
To each [category] We extend - to these and to those - from the gift of your Lord. And never has the gift of your Lord been restricted.

17:21
Ayah 17:21
ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ فَضَّلْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ ۚ وَلَلْـَٔاخِرَةُ أَكْبَرُ دَرَجَـٰتٍ وَأَكْبَرُ تَفْضِيلًا
ٱنظُرْ
unẓur
See
كَيْفَ
kayfa
how
فَضَّلْنَا
faḍḍalnā
We preferred
بَعْضَهُمْ
baʿḍahum
some of them
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
over
بَعْضٍ
baʿḍin
others
وَلَلْـَٔاخِرَةُ
walalākhiratu
And surely the Hereafter
أَكْبَرُ
akbaru
(is) greater
دَرَجَـٰتٍ
darajātin
(in) degrees
وَأَكْبَرُ
wa-akbaru
and greater
تَفْضِيلًا
tafḍīlan
(in) excellence
Look how We have favored [in provision] some of them over others. But the Hereafter is greater in degrees [of difference] and greater in distinction.

17:22
Ayah 17:22
لَّا تَجْعَلْ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَقْعُدَ مَذْمُومًا مَّخْذُولًا
لَّا
(Do) not
تَجْعَلْ
tajʿal
make
مَعَ
maʿa
with
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
إِلَـٰهًا
ilāhan
god
ءَاخَرَ
ākhara
another
فَتَقْعُدَ
fataqʿuda
lest you will sit
مَذْمُومًا
madhmūman
disgraced
مَّخْذُولًا
makhdhūlan
forsaken
Do not make [as equal] with Allāh another deity and [thereby] become censured and forsaken.

17:23
Ayah 17:23
۞ وَقَضَىٰ رَبُّكَ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ إِيَّاهُ وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ إِحْسَـٰنًا ۚ إِمَّا يَبْلُغَنَّ عِندَكَ ٱلْكِبَرَ أَحَدُهُمَآ أَوْ كِلَاهُمَا فَلَا تَقُل لَّهُمَآ أُفٍّ وَلَا تَنْهَرْهُمَا وَقُل لَّهُمَا قَوْلًا كَرِيمًا
وَقَضَىٰ
waqaḍā
And has decreed
رَبُّكَ
rabbuka
your Lord
أَلَّا
allā
that (do) not
تَعْبُدُوٓا۟
taʿbudū
worship
إِلَّآ
illā
except
إِيَّاهُ
iyyāhu
Him Alone
وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ
wabil-wālidayni
and to the parents
إِحْسَـٰنًا
iḥ'sānan
(be) good
إِمَّا
immā
Whether
يَبْلُغَنَّ
yablughanna
reach
عِندَكَ
ʿindaka
with you
ٱلْكِبَرَ
l-kibara
the old age
أَحَدُهُمَآ
aḥaduhumā
one of them
أَوْ
aw
or
كِلَاهُمَا
kilāhumā
both of them
فَلَا
falā
then (do) not
تَقُل
taqul
say
لَّهُمَآ
lahumā
to both of them
أُفٍّ
uffin
a word of disrespect
وَلَا
walā
and (do) not
تَنْهَرْهُمَا
tanharhumā
repel them
وَقُل
waqul
but speak
لَّهُمَا
lahumā
to them
قَوْلًا
qawlan
a word
كَرِيمًا
karīman
noble
And your Lord has decreed that you worship not except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff,"1 and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.

17:24
Ayah 17:24
وَٱخْفِضْ لَهُمَا جَنَاحَ ٱلذُّلِّ مِنَ ٱلرَّحْمَةِ وَقُل رَّبِّ ٱرْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِى صَغِيرًا
وَٱخْفِضْ
wa-ikh'fiḍ
And lower
لَهُمَا
lahumā
to them
جَنَاحَ
janāḥa
(the) wing
ٱلذُّلِّ
l-dhuli
(of) humility
مِنَ
mina
(out) of
ٱلرَّحْمَةِ
l-raḥmati
[the] mercy
وَقُل
waqul
and say
رَّبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
ٱرْحَمْهُمَا
ir'ḥamhumā
Have mercy on both of them
كَمَا
kamā
as
رَبَّيَانِى
rabbayānī
they brought me up
صَغِيرًا
ṣaghīran
(when I was) small
And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small."

17:25
Ayah 17:25
رَّبُّكُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا فِى نُفُوسِكُمْ ۚ إِن تَكُونُوا۟ صَـٰلِحِينَ فَإِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لِلْأَوَّٰبِينَ غَفُورًا
رَّبُّكُمْ
rabbukum
Your Lord
أَعْلَمُ
aʿlamu
(is) most knowing
بِمَا
bimā
of what
فِى
(is) in
نُفُوسِكُمْ
nufūsikum
yourselves
إِن
in
If
تَكُونُوا۟
takūnū
you are
صَـٰلِحِينَ
ṣāliḥīna
righteous
فَإِنَّهُۥ
fa-innahu
then indeed, He
كَانَ
kāna
is
لِلْأَوَّٰبِينَ
lil'awwābīna
to those who often turn (to Him)
غَفُورًا
ghafūran
Most Forgiving
Your Lord is most knowing of what is within yourselves. If you should be righteous [in intention] - then indeed He is ever, to the often returning [to Him], Forgiving.1

17:26
Ayah 17:26
وَءَاتِ ذَا ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ حَقَّهُۥ وَٱلْمِسْكِينَ وَٱبْنَ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَلَا تُبَذِّرْ تَبْذِيرًا
وَءَاتِ
waāti
And give
ذَا
dhā
the relatives
ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ
l-qur'bā
the relatives
حَقَّهُۥ
ḥaqqahu
his right
وَٱلْمِسْكِينَ
wal-mis'kīna
and the needy
وَٱبْنَ
wa-ib'na
and the wayfarer
ٱلسَّبِيلِ
l-sabīli
and the wayfarer
وَلَا
walā
and (do) not
تُبَذِّرْ
tubadhir
spend
تَبْذِيرًا
tabdhīran
wastefully
And give the relative his right, and [also] the poor and the traveler, and do not spend wastefully.1

17:27
Ayah 17:27
إِنَّ ٱلْمُبَذِّرِينَ كَانُوٓا۟ إِخْوَٰنَ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ ۖ وَكَانَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ لِرَبِّهِۦ كَفُورًا
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلْمُبَذِّرِينَ
l-mubadhirīna
the spendthrifts
كَانُوٓا۟
kānū
are
إِخْوَٰنَ
ikh'wāna
brothers
ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ
l-shayāṭīni
(of) the devils
وَكَانَ
wakāna
And is
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ
l-shayṭānu
the Shaitaan
لِرَبِّهِۦ
lirabbihi
to his Lord
كَفُورًا
kafūran
ungrateful
Indeed, the wasteful are brothers of the devils, and ever has Satan been to his Lord ungrateful.

17:28
Ayah 17:28
وَإِمَّا تُعْرِضَنَّ عَنْهُمُ ٱبْتِغَآءَ رَحْمَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّكَ تَرْجُوهَا فَقُل لَّهُمْ قَوْلًا مَّيْسُورًا
وَإِمَّا
wa-immā
And if
تُعْرِضَنَّ
tuʿ'riḍanna
you turn away
عَنْهُمُ
ʿanhumu
from them
ٱبْتِغَآءَ
ib'tighāa
seeking
رَحْمَةٍ
raḥmatin
mercy
مِّن
min
from
رَّبِّكَ
rabbika
your Lord
تَرْجُوهَا
tarjūhā
which you expect
فَقُل
faqul
then say
لَّهُمْ
lahum
to them
قَوْلًا
qawlan
a word
مَّيْسُورًا
maysūran
gentle
And if you [must] turn away from them [i.e., the needy] awaiting mercy from your Lord which you expect,1 then speak to them a gentle word.

17:29
Ayah 17:29
وَلَا تَجْعَلْ يَدَكَ مَغْلُولَةً إِلَىٰ عُنُقِكَ وَلَا تَبْسُطْهَا كُلَّ ٱلْبَسْطِ فَتَقْعُدَ مَلُومًا مَّحْسُورًا
وَلَا
walā
And (do) not
تَجْعَلْ
tajʿal
make
يَدَكَ
yadaka
your hand
مَغْلُولَةً
maghlūlatan
chained
إِلَىٰ
ilā
to
عُنُقِكَ
ʿunuqika
your neck
وَلَا
walā
and not
تَبْسُطْهَا
tabsuṭ'hā
extend it
كُلَّ
kulla
(to its) utmost
ٱلْبَسْطِ
l-basṭi
reach
فَتَقْعُدَ
fataqʿuda
so that you sit
مَلُومًا
malūman
blameworthy
مَّحْسُورًا
maḥsūran
insolvent
And do not make your hand [as] chained to your neck1 or extend it completely2 and [thereby] become blamed and insolvent.

17:30
Ayah 17:30
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَبْسُطُ ٱلرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَقْدِرُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ بِعِبَادِهِۦ خَبِيرًۢا بَصِيرًا
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
رَبَّكَ
rabbaka
your Lord
يَبْسُطُ
yabsuṭu
extends
ٱلرِّزْقَ
l-riz'qa
the provision
لِمَن
liman
for whom
يَشَآءُ
yashāu
He wills
وَيَقْدِرُ
wayaqdiru
and straitens
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, He
كَانَ
kāna
is
بِعِبَادِهِۦ
biʿibādihi
of His slaves
خَبِيرًۢا
khabīran
All-Aware
بَصِيرًا
baṣīran
All-Seer
Indeed, your Lord extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]. Indeed He is ever, concerning His servants, Aware and Seeing.

17:31
Ayah 17:31
وَلَا تَقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَوْلَـٰدَكُمْ خَشْيَةَ إِمْلَـٰقٍ ۖ نَّحْنُ نَرْزُقُهُمْ وَإِيَّاكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ قَتْلَهُمْ كَانَ خِطْـًٔا كَبِيرًا
وَلَا
walā
And (do) not
تَقْتُلُوٓا۟
taqtulū
kill
أَوْلَـٰدَكُمْ
awlādakum
your children
خَشْيَةَ
khashyata
(for) fear
إِمْلَـٰقٍ
im'lāqin
(of) poverty
نَّحْنُ
naḥnu
We
نَرْزُقُهُمْ
narzuquhum
(We) provide for them
وَإِيَّاكُمْ
wa-iyyākum
and for you
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
قَتْلَهُمْ
qatlahum
their killing
كَانَ
kāna
is
خِطْـًٔا
khiṭ'an
a sin
كَبِيرًا
kabīran
great
And do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We provide for them and for you. Indeed, their killing is ever a great sin.

17:32
Ayah 17:32
وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا۟ ٱلزِّنَىٰٓ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَـٰحِشَةً وَسَآءَ سَبِيلًا
وَلَا
walā
And (do) not
تَقْرَبُوا۟
taqrabū
go near
ٱلزِّنَىٰٓ
l-zinā
adultery
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, it
كَانَ
kāna
is
فَـٰحِشَةً
fāḥishatan
an immorality
وَسَآءَ
wasāa
and (an) evil
سَبِيلًا
sabīlan
way
And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse.1 Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a way.

17:33
Ayah 17:33
وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا۟ ٱلنَّفْسَ ٱلَّتِى حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ ۗ وَمَن قُتِلَ مَظْلُومًا فَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا لِوَلِيِّهِۦ سُلْطَـٰنًا فَلَا يُسْرِف فِّى ٱلْقَتْلِ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مَنصُورًا
وَلَا
walā
And (do) not
تَقْتُلُوا۟
taqtulū
kill
ٱلنَّفْسَ
l-nafsa
the soul
ٱلَّتِى
allatī
which
حَرَّمَ
ḥarrama
Allah has forbidden
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah has forbidden
إِلَّا
illā
except
بِٱلْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqi
by right
وَمَن
waman
And whoever
قُتِلَ
qutila
(is) killed
مَظْلُومًا
maẓlūman
wrongfully
فَقَدْ
faqad
verily
جَعَلْنَا
jaʿalnā
We have made
لِوَلِيِّهِۦ
liwaliyyihi
for his heir
سُلْطَـٰنًا
sul'ṭānan
an authority
فَلَا
falā
but not
يُسْرِف
yus'rif
he should exceed
فِّى
in
ٱلْقَتْلِ
l-qatli
the killing
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, he
كَانَ
kāna
is
مَنصُورًا
manṣūran
helped
And do not kill the soul [i.e., person] which Allāh has forbidden, except by right.1 And whoever is killed unjustly - We have given his heir authority,2 but let him not exceed limits in [the matter of] taking life. Indeed, he has been supported [by the law].

17:34
Ayah 17:34
وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا۟ مَالَ ٱلْيَتِيمِ إِلَّا بِٱلَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُ حَتَّىٰ يَبْلُغَ أَشُدَّهُۥ ۚ وَأَوْفُوا۟ بِٱلْعَهْدِ ۖ إِنَّ ٱلْعَهْدَ كَانَ مَسْـُٔولًا
وَلَا
walā
And (do) not
تَقْرَبُوا۟
taqrabū
come near
مَالَ
māla
(the) wealth
ٱلْيَتِيمِ
l-yatīmi
(of) the orphan
إِلَّا
illā
except
بِٱلَّتِى
bi-allatī
with what
هِىَ
hiya
[it] is
أَحْسَنُ
aḥsanu
best
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattā
until
يَبْلُغَ
yablugha
he reaches
أَشُدَّهُۥ
ashuddahu
his maturity
وَأَوْفُوا۟
wa-awfū
And fulfil
بِٱلْعَهْدِ
bil-ʿahdi
the covenant
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلْعَهْدَ
l-ʿahda
the covenant
كَانَ
kāna
will be
مَسْـُٔولًا
masūlan
questioned
And do not approach the property of an orphan, except in the way that is best,1 until he reaches maturity. And fulfill [every] commitment. Indeed, the commitment is ever [that about which one will be] questioned.

17:35
Ayah 17:35
وَأَوْفُوا۟ ٱلْكَيْلَ إِذَا كِلْتُمْ وَزِنُوا۟ بِٱلْقِسْطَاسِ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ وَأَحْسَنُ تَأْوِيلًا
وَأَوْفُوا۟
wa-awfū
And give full
ٱلْكَيْلَ
l-kayla
[the] measure
إِذَا
idhā
when
كِلْتُمْ
kil'tum
you measure
وَزِنُوا۟
wazinū
and weigh
بِٱلْقِسْطَاسِ
bil-qis'ṭāsi
with the balance
ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمِ
l-mus'taqīmi
the straight
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
That
خَيْرٌ
khayrun
(is) good
وَأَحْسَنُ
wa-aḥsanu
and best
تَأْوِيلًا
tawīlan
(in) result
And give full measure when you measure, and weigh with an even [i.e., honest] balance. That is the best [way] and best in result.

17:36
Ayah 17:36
وَلَا تَقْفُ مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلْمٌ ۚ إِنَّ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَٱلْبَصَرَ وَٱلْفُؤَادَ كُلُّ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ كَانَ عَنْهُ مَسْـُٔولًا
وَلَا
walā
And (do) not
تَقْفُ
taqfu
pursue
مَا
what
لَيْسَ
laysa
not
لَكَ
laka
you have
بِهِۦ
bihi
of it
عِلْمٌ
ʿil'mun
any knowledge
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلسَّمْعَ
l-samʿa
the hearing
وَٱلْبَصَرَ
wal-baṣara
and the sight
وَٱلْفُؤَادَ
wal-fuāda
and the heart
كُلُّ
kullu
all
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
those
كَانَ
kāna
will be
عَنْهُ
ʿanhu
[about it]
مَسْـُٔولًا
masūlan
questioned
And do not pursue1 that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart - about all those [one] will be questioned.

17:37
Ayah 17:37
وَلَا تَمْشِ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مَرَحًا ۖ إِنَّكَ لَن تَخْرِقَ ٱلْأَرْضَ وَلَن تَبْلُغَ ٱلْجِبَالَ طُولًا
وَلَا
walā
And (do) not
تَمْشِ
tamshi
walk
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
مَرَحًا
maraḥan
(with) insolence
إِنَّكَ
innaka
Indeed, you
لَن
lan
will never
تَخْرِقَ
takhriqa
tear
ٱلْأَرْضَ
l-arḍa
the earth
وَلَن
walan
and will never
تَبْلُغَ
tablugha
reach
ٱلْجِبَالَ
l-jibāla
the mountains
طُولًا
ṭūlan
(in) height
And do not walk upon the earth exultantly. Indeed, you will never tear the earth [apart], and you will never reach the mountains in height.1

17:38
Ayah 17:38
كُلُّ ذَٰلِكَ كَانَ سَيِّئُهُۥ عِندَ رَبِّكَ مَكْرُوهًا
كُلُّ
kullu
All
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
that
كَانَ
kāna
is
سَيِّئُهُۥ
sayyi-uhu
[its] evil
عِندَ
ʿinda
near
رَبِّكَ
rabbika
your Lord
مَكْرُوهًا
makrūhan
hateful
All that [i.e., the aforementioned] - its evil is ever, in the sight of your Lord, detested.

17:39
Ayah 17:39
ذَٰلِكَ مِمَّآ أَوْحَىٰٓ إِلَيْكَ رَبُّكَ مِنَ ٱلْحِكْمَةِ ۗ وَلَا تَجْعَلْ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتُلْقَىٰ فِى جَهَنَّمَ مَلُومًا مَّدْحُورًا
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
That
مِمَّآ
mimmā
(is) from what
أَوْحَىٰٓ
awḥā
(was) revealed
إِلَيْكَ
ilayka
to you
رَبُّكَ
rabbuka
(from) your Lord
مِنَ
mina
of
ٱلْحِكْمَةِ
l-ḥik'mati
the wisdom
وَلَا
walā
And (do) not
تَجْعَلْ
tajʿal
make
مَعَ
maʿa
with
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
إِلَـٰهًا
ilāhan
god
ءَاخَرَ
ākhara
other
فَتُلْقَىٰ
fatul'qā
lest you should be thrown
فِى
in
جَهَنَّمَ
jahannama
Hell
مَلُومًا
malūman
blameworthy
مَّدْحُورًا
madḥūran
abandoned
That is from what your Lord has revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], of wisdom. And, [O mankind], do not make [as equal] with Allāh another deity, lest you be thrown into Hell, blamed and banished.

17:40
Ayah 17:40
أَفَأَصْفَىٰكُمْ رَبُّكُم بِٱلْبَنِينَ وَٱتَّخَذَ مِنَ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ إِنَـٰثًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ لَتَقُولُونَ قَوْلًا عَظِيمًا
أَفَأَصْفَىٰكُمْ
afa-aṣfākum
Then has your Lord chosen (for) you
رَبُّكُم
rabbukum
Then has your Lord chosen (for) you
بِٱلْبَنِينَ
bil-banīna
sons
وَٱتَّخَذَ
wa-ittakhadha
and He has taken
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ
l-malāikati
the Angels
إِنَـٰثًا
ināthan
daughters
إِنَّكُمْ
innakum
Indeed, you
لَتَقُولُونَ
lataqūlūna
surely say
قَوْلًا
qawlan
a word
عَظِيمًا
ʿaẓīman
grave
Then, has your Lord chosen you for [having] sons and taken [i.e., adopted] from among the angels daughters? Indeed, you say a grave saying.

17:41
Ayah 17:41
وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَا فِى هَـٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانِ لِيَذَّكَّرُوا۟ وَمَا يَزِيدُهُمْ إِلَّا نُفُورًا
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And verily
صَرَّفْنَا
ṣarrafnā
We have explained
فِى
in
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
this
ٱلْقُرْءَانِ
l-qur'āni
the Quran
لِيَذَّكَّرُوا۟
liyadhakkarū
that they may take heed
وَمَا
wamā
but not
يَزِيدُهُمْ
yazīduhum
it increases them
إِلَّا
illā
except
نُفُورًا
nufūran
(in) aversion
And We have certainly diversified [the contents] in this Qur’ān that they [i.e., mankind] may be reminded, but it does not increase them [i.e., the disbelievers] except in aversion.

17:42
Ayah 17:42
قُل لَّوْ كَانَ مَعَهُۥٓ ءَالِهَةٌ كَمَا يَقُولُونَ إِذًا لَّٱبْتَغَوْا۟ إِلَىٰ ذِى ٱلْعَرْشِ سَبِيلًا
قُل
qul
Say
لَّوْ
law
If
كَانَ
kāna
(there) were
مَعَهُۥٓ
maʿahu
with Him
ءَالِهَةٌ
ālihatun
gods
كَمَا
kamā
as
يَقُولُونَ
yaqūlūna
they say
إِذًا
idhan
then
لَّٱبْتَغَوْا۟
la-ib'taghaw
surely they (would) have sought
إِلَىٰ
ilā
to
ذِى
dhī
(the) Owner
ٱلْعَرْشِ
l-ʿarshi
(of) the Throne
سَبِيلًا
sabīlan
a way
Say, [O Muḥammad], "If there had been with Him [other] gods, as they say, then they [each] would have sought to the Owner of the Throne a way."1

17:43
Ayah 17:43
سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يَقُولُونَ عُلُوًّا كَبِيرًا
سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ
sub'ḥānahu
Glorified is He
وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ
wataʿālā
and Exalted is He
عَمَّا
ʿammā
above what
يَقُولُونَ
yaqūlūna
they say
عُلُوًّا
ʿuluwwan
(by) height
كَبِيرًا
kabīran
great
Exalted is He and high above what they say by great sublimity.

17:44
Ayah 17:44
تُسَبِّحُ لَهُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتُ ٱلسَّبْعُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ وَمَن فِيهِنَّ ۚ وَإِن مِّن شَىْءٍ إِلَّا يُسَبِّحُ بِحَمْدِهِۦ وَلَـٰكِن لَّا تَفْقَهُونَ تَسْبِيحَهُمْ ۗ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ حَلِيمًا غَفُورًا
تُسَبِّحُ
tusabbiḥu
Glorify
لَهُ
lahu
[to] Him
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتُ
l-samāwātu
the seven heavens
ٱلسَّبْعُ
l-sabʿu
the seven heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضُ
wal-arḍu
and the earth
وَمَن
waman
and whatever
فِيهِنَّ
fīhinna
(is) in them
وَإِن
wa-in
And (there is) not
مِّن
min
any
شَىْءٍ
shayin
thing
إِلَّا
illā
except
يُسَبِّحُ
yusabbiḥu
glorifies
بِحَمْدِهِۦ
biḥamdihi
His Praise
وَلَـٰكِن
walākin
but
لَّا
not
تَفْقَهُونَ
tafqahūna
you understand
تَسْبِيحَهُمْ
tasbīḥahum
their glorification
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, He
كَانَ
kāna
is
حَلِيمًا
ḥalīman
Ever-Forbearing
غَفُورًا
ghafūran
Oft-Forgiving
The seven heavens and the earth and whatever is in them exalt Him. And there is not a thing except that it exalts [Allāh] by His praise, but you do not understand their [way of] exalting. Indeed, He is ever Forbearing1 and Forgiving.

17:45
Ayah 17:45
وَإِذَا قَرَأْتَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ جَعَلْنَا بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ حِجَابًا مَّسْتُورًا
وَإِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
قَرَأْتَ
qarata
you recite
ٱلْقُرْءَانَ
l-qur'āna
the Quran
جَعَلْنَا
jaʿalnā
We place
بَيْنَكَ
baynaka
between you
وَبَيْنَ
wabayna
and between
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
لَا
(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūna
believe
بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
bil-ākhirati
in the Hereafter
حِجَابًا
ḥijāban
a barrier
مَّسْتُورًا
mastūran
hidden
And when you recite the Qur’ān, We put between you and those who do not believe in the Hereafter a concealed partition.1

17:46
Ayah 17:46
وَجَعَلْنَا عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ أَكِنَّةً أَن يَفْقَهُوهُ وَفِىٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَقْرًا ۚ وَإِذَا ذَكَرْتَ رَبَّكَ فِى ٱلْقُرْءَانِ وَحْدَهُۥ وَلَّوْا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَدْبَـٰرِهِمْ نُفُورًا
وَجَعَلْنَا
wajaʿalnā
And We have placed
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
over
قُلُوبِهِمْ
qulūbihim
their hearts
أَكِنَّةً
akinnatan
coverings
أَن
an
lest
يَفْقَهُوهُ
yafqahūhu
they understand it
وَفِىٓ
wafī
and in
ءَاذَانِهِمْ
ādhānihim
their ears
وَقْرًا
waqran
deafness
وَإِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
ذَكَرْتَ
dhakarta
you mention
رَبَّكَ
rabbaka
your Lord
فِى
in
ٱلْقُرْءَانِ
l-qur'āni
the Quran
وَحْدَهُۥ
waḥdahu
Alone
وَلَّوْا۟
wallaw
they turn
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalā
on
أَدْبَـٰرِهِمْ
adbārihim
their backs
نُفُورًا
nufūran
(in) aversion
And We have placed over their hearts coverings, lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And when you mention your Lord alone in the Qur’ān, they turn back in aversion.

17:47
Ayah 17:47
نَّحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَسْتَمِعُونَ بِهِۦٓ إِذْ يَسْتَمِعُونَ إِلَيْكَ وَإِذْ هُمْ نَجْوَىٰٓ إِذْ يَقُولُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ إِن تَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا رَجُلًا مَّسْحُورًا
نَّحْنُ
naḥnu
We
أَعْلَمُ
aʿlamu
know best
بِمَا
bimā
[of] what
يَسْتَمِعُونَ
yastamiʿūna
they listen
بِهِۦٓ
bihi
to [it]
إِذْ
idh
when
يَسْتَمِعُونَ
yastamiʿūna
they listen
إِلَيْكَ
ilayka
to you
وَإِذْ
wa-idh
and when
هُمْ
hum
they
نَجْوَىٰٓ
najwā
(are) in private conversation
إِذْ
idh
when
يَقُولُ
yaqūlu
say
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
l-ẓālimūna
the wrongdoers
إِن
in
Not
تَتَّبِعُونَ
tattabiʿūna
you follow
إِلَّا
illā
but
رَجُلًا
rajulan
a man
مَّسْحُورًا
masḥūran
bewitched
We are most knowing of how they listen to it when they listen to you and [of] when they are in private conversation, when the wrongdoers say, "You follow not but a man affected by magic."

17:48
Ayah 17:48
ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ ضَرَبُوا۟ لَكَ ٱلْأَمْثَالَ فَضَلُّوا۟ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ سَبِيلًا
ٱنظُرْ
unẓur
See
كَيْفَ
kayfa
how
ضَرَبُوا۟
ḍarabū
they put forth
لَكَ
laka
for you
ٱلْأَمْثَالَ
l-amthāla
the examples
فَضَلُّوا۟
faḍallū
but they have gone astray
فَلَا
falā
so not
يَسْتَطِيعُونَ
yastaṭīʿūna
they can
سَبِيلًا
sabīlan
(find) a way
Look how they strike for you comparisons;1 but they have strayed, so they cannot [find] a way.

17:49
Ayah 17:49
وَقَالُوٓا۟ أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَـٰمًا وَرُفَـٰتًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ خَلْقًا جَدِيدًا
وَقَالُوٓا۟
waqālū
And they say
أَءِذَا
a-idhā
Is it when
كُنَّا
kunnā
we are
عِظَـٰمًا
ʿiẓāman
bones
وَرُفَـٰتًا
warufātan
and crumbled particles
أَءِنَّا
a-innā
will we
لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
lamabʿūthūna
surely (be) resurrected
خَلْقًا
khalqan
(as) a creation
جَدِيدًا
jadīdan
new
And they say, "When we are bones and crumbled particles, will we [truly] be resurrected as a new creation?"

17:50
Ayah 17:50
۞ قُلْ كُونُوا۟ حِجَارَةً أَوْ حَدِيدًا
قُلْ
qul
Say
كُونُوا۟
kūnū
Be
حِجَارَةً
ḥijāratan
stones
أَوْ
aw
or
حَدِيدًا
ḥadīdan
iron
Say, "Be you stones or iron1

17:51
Ayah 17:51
أَوْ خَلْقًا مِّمَّا يَكْبُرُ فِى صُدُورِكُمْ ۚ فَسَيَقُولُونَ مَن يُعِيدُنَا ۖ قُلِ ٱلَّذِى فَطَرَكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ ۚ فَسَيُنْغِضُونَ إِلَيْكَ رُءُوسَهُمْ وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هُوَ ۖ قُلْ عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَكُونَ قَرِيبًا
أَوْ
aw
Or
خَلْقًا
khalqan
a creation
مِّمَّا
mimmā
of what
يَكْبُرُ
yakburu
(is) great
فِى
in
صُدُورِكُمْ
ṣudūrikum
your breasts
فَسَيَقُولُونَ
fasayaqūlūna
Then they will say
مَن
man
Who
يُعِيدُنَا
yuʿīdunā
will restore us
قُلِ
quli
Say
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
He Who
فَطَرَكُمْ
faṭarakum
created you
أَوَّلَ
awwala
(the) first
مَرَّةٍ
marratin
time
فَسَيُنْغِضُونَ
fasayun'ghiḍūna
Then they will shake
إِلَيْكَ
ilayka
at you
رُءُوسَهُمْ
ruūsahum
their heads
وَيَقُولُونَ
wayaqūlūna
and they say
مَتَىٰ
matā
When (will)
هُوَ
huwa
it (be)
قُلْ
qul
Say
عَسَىٰٓ
ʿasā
Perhaps
أَن
an
that
يَكُونَ
yakūna
(it) will be
قَرِيبًا
qarīban
soon
Or [any] creation of that which is great1 within your breasts." And they will say, "Who will restore us?" Say, "He who brought you forth the first time." Then they will nod their heads toward you2 and say, "When is that?" Say, "Perhaps it will be soon -

17:52
Ayah 17:52
يَوْمَ يَدْعُوكُمْ فَتَسْتَجِيبُونَ بِحَمْدِهِۦ وَتَظُنُّونَ إِن لَّبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
يَوْمَ
yawma
(On) the Day
يَدْعُوكُمْ
yadʿūkum
He will call you
فَتَسْتَجِيبُونَ
fatastajībūna
and you will respond
بِحَمْدِهِۦ
biḥamdihi
with His Praise
وَتَظُنُّونَ
wataẓunnūna
and you will think
إِن
in
not
لَّبِثْتُمْ
labith'tum
you had remained
إِلَّا
illā
except
قَلِيلًا
qalīlan
a little (while)
On the Day He will call you and you will respond with praise of Him and think that you had not remained [in the world] except for a little."

17:53
Ayah 17:53
وَقُل لِّعِبَادِى يَقُولُوا۟ ٱلَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُ ۚ إِنَّ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ يَنزَغُ بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ كَانَ لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ عَدُوًّا مُّبِينًا
وَقُل
waqul
And say
لِّعِبَادِى
liʿibādī
to My slaves
يَقُولُوا۟
yaqūlū
(to) say
ٱلَّتِى
allatī
that
هِىَ
hiya
which
أَحْسَنُ
aḥsanu
(is) best
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ
l-shayṭāna
the Shaitaan
يَنزَغُ
yanzaghu
sows discord
بَيْنَهُمْ
baynahum
between them
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ
l-shayṭāna
the Shaitaan
كَانَ
kāna
is
لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ
lil'insāni
to the man
عَدُوًّا
ʿaduwwan
an enemy
مُّبِينًا
mubīnan
clear
And tell My servants to say that which is best. Indeed, Satan induces [dissension] among them. Indeed Satan is ever, to mankind, a clear enemy.

17:54
Ayah 17:54
رَّبُّكُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِكُمْ ۖ إِن يَشَأْ يَرْحَمْكُمْ أَوْ إِن يَشَأْ يُعَذِّبْكُمْ ۚ وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَـٰكَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَكِيلًا
رَّبُّكُمْ
rabbukum
Your Lord
أَعْلَمُ
aʿlamu
(is) most knowing
بِكُمْ
bikum
of you
إِن
in
If
يَشَأْ
yasha
He wills
يَرْحَمْكُمْ
yarḥamkum
He will have mercy on you
أَوْ
aw
or
إِن
in
if
يَشَأْ
yasha
He wills
يُعَذِّبْكُمْ
yuʿadhib'kum
He will punish you
وَمَآ
wamā
And not
أَرْسَلْنَـٰكَ
arsalnāka
We have sent you
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
over them
وَكِيلًا
wakīlan
(as) a guardian
Your Lord is most knowing of you. If He wills, He will have mercy upon you; or if He wills, He will punish you. And We have not sent you, [O Muḥammad], over them as a manager.

17:55
Ayah 17:55
وَرَبُّكَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ وَلَقَدْ فَضَّلْنَا بَعْضَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ ۖ وَءَاتَيْنَا دَاوُۥدَ زَبُورًا
وَرَبُّكَ
warabbuka
And your Lord
أَعْلَمُ
aʿlamu
(is) most knowing
بِمَن
biman
of whoever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
wal-arḍi
and the earth
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And verily
فَضَّلْنَا
faḍḍalnā
We have preferred
بَعْضَ
baʿḍa
some
ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ
l-nabiyīna
(of) the Prophets
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
to
بَعْضٍ
baʿḍin
others
وَءَاتَيْنَا
waātaynā
And We gave
دَاوُۥدَ
dāwūda
Dawood
زَبُورًا
zabūran
Zaboor
And your Lord is most knowing of whoever is in the heavens and the earth. And We have made some of the prophets exceed others [in various ways], and to David We gave the book [of Psalms].

17:56
Ayah 17:56
قُلِ ٱدْعُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ زَعَمْتُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ فَلَا يَمْلِكُونَ كَشْفَ ٱلضُّرِّ عَنكُمْ وَلَا تَحْوِيلًا
قُلِ
quli
Say
ٱدْعُوا۟
id'ʿū
Call
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those whom
زَعَمْتُم
zaʿamtum
you claimed
مِّن
min
besides Him
دُونِهِۦ
dūnihi
besides Him
فَلَا
falā
[then] not
يَمْلِكُونَ
yamlikūna
they have power
كَشْفَ
kashfa
(to) remove
ٱلضُّرِّ
l-ḍuri
the misfortunes
عَنكُمْ
ʿankum
from you
وَلَا
walā
and not
تَحْوِيلًا
taḥwīlan
(to) transfer (it)
Say, "Invoke those you have claimed [as gods] besides Him, for they do not possess the [ability for] removal of adversity from you or [for its] transfer [to someone else]."

17:57
Ayah 17:57
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ يَبْتَغُونَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمُ ٱلْوَسِيلَةَ أَيُّهُمْ أَقْرَبُ وَيَرْجُونَ رَحْمَتَهُۥ وَيَخَافُونَ عَذَابَهُۥٓ ۚ إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ كَانَ مَحْذُورًا
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
Those
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
whom
يَدْعُونَ
yadʿūna
they call
يَبْتَغُونَ
yabtaghūna
seek
إِلَىٰ
ilā
to
رَبِّهِمُ
rabbihimu
their Lord
ٱلْوَسِيلَةَ
l-wasīlata
the means of access
أَيُّهُمْ
ayyuhum
which of them
أَقْرَبُ
aqrabu
(is) nearest
وَيَرْجُونَ
wayarjūna
and they hope
رَحْمَتَهُۥ
raḥmatahu
(for) His mercy
وَيَخَافُونَ
wayakhāfūna
and fear
عَذَابَهُۥٓ
ʿadhābahu
His punishment
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
عَذَابَ
ʿadhāba
(the) punishment
رَبِّكَ
rabbika
(of) your Lord
كَانَ
kāna
is
مَحْذُورًا
maḥdhūran
(ever) feared
Those whom they invoke1 seek means of access to their Lord, [striving as to] which of them would be nearest, and they hope for His mercy and fear His punishment. Indeed, the punishment of your Lord is ever feared.

17:58
Ayah 17:58
وَإِن مِّن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا نَحْنُ مُهْلِكُوهَا قَبْلَ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ أَوْ مُعَذِّبُوهَا عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا ۚ كَانَ ذَٰلِكَ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مَسْطُورًا
وَإِن
wa-in
And not
مِّن
min
(is) any
قَرْيَةٍ
qaryatin
town
إِلَّا
illā
but
نَحْنُ
naḥnu
We
مُهْلِكُوهَا
muh'likūhā
(will) destroy it
قَبْلَ
qabla
before
يَوْمِ
yawmi
(the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ
l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
أَوْ
aw
or
مُعَذِّبُوهَا
muʿadhibūhā
punish it
عَذَابًا
ʿadhāban
with a punishment
شَدِيدًا
shadīdan
severe
كَانَ
kāna
That is
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
That is
فِى
in
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
l-kitābi
the Book
مَسْطُورًا
masṭūran
written
And there is no city but that We will destroy it1 before the Day of Resurrection or punish it with a severe punishment. That has ever been in the Register2 inscribed.

17:59
Ayah 17:59
وَمَا مَنَعَنَآ أَن نُّرْسِلَ بِٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ إِلَّآ أَن كَذَّبَ بِهَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ ۚ وَءَاتَيْنَا ثَمُودَ ٱلنَّاقَةَ مُبْصِرَةً فَظَلَمُوا۟ بِهَا ۚ وَمَا نُرْسِلُ بِٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ إِلَّا تَخْوِيفًا
وَمَا
wamā
And not
مَنَعَنَآ
manaʿanā
stopped Us
أَن
an
that
نُّرْسِلَ
nur'sila
We send
بِٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ
bil-āyāti
the Signs
إِلَّآ
illā
except
أَن
an
that
كَذَّبَ
kadhaba
denied
بِهَا
bihā
them
ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
l-awalūna
the former (people)
وَءَاتَيْنَا
waātaynā
And We gave
ثَمُودَ
thamūda
Thamud
ٱلنَّاقَةَ
l-nāqata
the she-camel
مُبْصِرَةً
mub'ṣiratan
(as) a visible sign
فَظَلَمُوا۟
faẓalamū
but they wronged
بِهَا
bihā
her
وَمَا
wamā
And not
نُرْسِلُ
nur'silu
We send
بِٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ
bil-āyāti
the Signs
إِلَّا
illā
except
تَخْوِيفًا
takhwīfan
(as) a warning
And nothing has prevented Us from sending signs [i.e., miracles] except that the former peoples denied them. And We gave Thamūd the she-camel as a visible sign, but they wronged her. And We send not the signs except as a warning.

17:60
Ayah 17:60
وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لَكَ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ أَحَاطَ بِٱلنَّاسِ ۚ وَمَا جَعَلْنَا ٱلرُّءْيَا ٱلَّتِىٓ أَرَيْنَـٰكَ إِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِّلنَّاسِ وَٱلشَّجَرَةَ ٱلْمَلْعُونَةَ فِى ٱلْقُرْءَانِ ۚ وَنُخَوِّفُهُمْ فَمَا يَزِيدُهُمْ إِلَّا طُغْيَـٰنًا كَبِيرًا
وَإِذْ
wa-idh
And when
قُلْنَا
qul'nā
We said
لَكَ
laka
to you
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
رَبَّكَ
rabbaka
your Lord
أَحَاطَ
aḥāṭa
has encompassed
بِٱلنَّاسِ
bil-nāsi
the mankind
وَمَا
wamā
And not
جَعَلْنَا
jaʿalnā
We made
ٱلرُّءْيَا
l-ru'yā
the vision
ٱلَّتِىٓ
allatī
which
أَرَيْنَـٰكَ
araynāka
We showed you
إِلَّا
illā
except
فِتْنَةً
fit'natan
(as) a trial
لِّلنَّاسِ
lilnnāsi
for mankind
وَٱلشَّجَرَةَ
wal-shajarata
and the tree
ٱلْمَلْعُونَةَ
l-malʿūnata
the accursed
فِى
in
ٱلْقُرْءَانِ
l-qur'āni
the Quran
وَنُخَوِّفُهُمْ
wanukhawwifuhum
And We threaten them
فَمَا
famā
but not
يَزِيدُهُمْ
yazīduhum
it increases them
إِلَّا
illā
except
طُغْيَـٰنًا
ṭugh'yānan
(in) transgression
كَبِيرًا
kabīran
great
And [remember, O Muḥammad], when We told you, "Indeed, your Lord has encompassed the people."1 And We did not make the sight which We showed you2 except as a trial for the people, as was the accursed tree [mentioned] in the Qur’ān. And We threaten [i.e., warn] them, but it increases them not except in great transgression.

17:61
Ayah 17:61
وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ ٱسْجُدُوا۟ لِـَٔادَمَ فَسَجَدُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ قَالَ ءَأَسْجُدُ لِمَنْ خَلَقْتَ طِينًا
وَإِذْ
wa-idh
And when
قُلْنَا
qul'nā
We said
لِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ
lil'malāikati
to the Angels
ٱسْجُدُوا۟
us'judū
Prostrate
لِـَٔادَمَ
liādama
to Adam
فَسَجَدُوٓا۟
fasajadū
So they prostrated
إِلَّآ
illā
except
إِبْلِيسَ
ib'līsa
Iblis
قَالَ
qāla
He said
ءَأَسْجُدُ
a-asjudu
Shall I prostrate
لِمَنْ
liman
to (one) whom
خَلَقْتَ
khalaqta
You created
طِينًا
ṭīnan
(from) clay
And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam," and they prostrated, except for Iblees.1 He said, "Should I prostrate to one You created from clay?"

17:62
Ayah 17:62
قَالَ أَرَءَيْتَكَ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كَرَّمْتَ عَلَىَّ لَئِنْ أَخَّرْتَنِ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ لَأَحْتَنِكَنَّ ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥٓ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
قَالَ
qāla
He said
أَرَءَيْتَكَ
ara-aytaka
Do You see
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
this
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
whom
كَرَّمْتَ
karramta
You have honored
عَلَىَّ
ʿalayya
above me
لَئِنْ
la-in
If
أَخَّرْتَنِ
akhartani
You give me respite
إِلَىٰ
ilā
till
يَوْمِ
yawmi
(the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ
l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
لَأَحْتَنِكَنَّ
la-aḥtanikanna
I will surely destroy
ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥٓ
dhurriyyatahu
his offspring
إِلَّا
illā
except
قَلِيلًا
qalīlan
a few
[Iblees] said, "Do You see this one whom You have honored above me? If You delay me [i.e., my death] until the Day of Resurrection, I will surely destroy1 his descendants, except for a few."

17:63
Ayah 17:63
قَالَ ٱذْهَبْ فَمَن تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ فَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ جَزَآؤُكُمْ جَزَآءً مَّوْفُورًا
قَالَ
qāla
He said
ٱذْهَبْ
idh'hab
Go
فَمَن
faman
and whoever
تَبِعَكَ
tabiʿaka
follows you
مِنْهُمْ
min'hum
among them
فَإِنَّ
fa-inna
then indeed
جَهَنَّمَ
jahannama
Hell
جَزَآؤُكُمْ
jazāukum
(is) your recompense
جَزَآءً
jazāan
a recompense
مَّوْفُورًا
mawfūran
ample
[Allāh] said, "Go, for whoever of them follows you, indeed Hell will be the recompense of [all of] you - an ample recompense.

17:64
Ayah 17:64
وَٱسْتَفْزِزْ مَنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتَ مِنْهُم بِصَوْتِكَ وَأَجْلِبْ عَلَيْهِم بِخَيْلِكَ وَرَجِلِكَ وَشَارِكْهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَمْوَٰلِ وَٱلْأَوْلَـٰدِ وَعِدْهُمْ ۚ وَمَا يَعِدُهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ إِلَّا غُرُورًا
وَٱسْتَفْزِزْ
wa-is'tafziz
And incite
مَنِ
mani
whoever
ٱسْتَطَعْتَ
is'taṭaʿta
you can
مِنْهُم
min'hum
among them
بِصَوْتِكَ
biṣawtika
with your voice
وَأَجْلِبْ
wa-ajlib
and assault
عَلَيْهِم
ʿalayhim
[on] them
بِخَيْلِكَ
bikhaylika
with your cavalry
وَرَجِلِكَ
warajilika
and infantry
وَشَارِكْهُمْ
washārik'hum
and be a partner
فِى
in
ٱلْأَمْوَٰلِ
l-amwāli
the wealth
وَٱلْأَوْلَـٰدِ
wal-awlādi
and the children
وَعِدْهُمْ
waʿid'hum
and promise them
وَمَا
wamā
And not
يَعِدُهُمُ
yaʿiduhumu
promises them
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ
l-shayṭānu
the Shaitaan
إِلَّا
illā
except
غُرُورًا
ghurūran
delusion
And incite [to senselessness] whoever you can among them with your voice and assault them with your horses and foot soldiers and become a partner in their wealth and their children and promise them." But Satan does not promise them except delusion.

17:65
Ayah 17:65
إِنَّ عِبَادِى لَيْسَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَـٰنٌ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِرَبِّكَ وَكِيلًا
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
عِبَادِى
ʿibādī
My slaves
لَيْسَ
laysa
not
لَكَ
laka
for you
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
over them
سُلْطَـٰنٌ
sul'ṭānun
any authority
وَكَفَىٰ
wakafā
And sufficient
بِرَبِّكَ
birabbika
(is) your Lord
وَكِيلًا
wakīlan
(as) a Guardian
Indeed, over My [believing] servants there is for you no authority. And sufficient is your Lord as Disposer of affairs.1

17:66
Ayah 17:66
رَّبُّكُمُ ٱلَّذِى يُزْجِى لَكُمُ ٱلْفُلْكَ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ لِتَبْتَغُوا۟ مِن فَضْلِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ بِكُمْ رَحِيمًا
رَّبُّكُمُ
rabbukumu
Your Lord
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
(is) the One Who
يُزْجِى
yuz'jī
drives
لَكُمُ
lakumu
for you
ٱلْفُلْكَ
l-ful'ka
the ship
فِى
in
ٱلْبَحْرِ
l-baḥri
the sea
لِتَبْتَغُوا۟
litabtaghū
that you may seek
مِن
min
of
فَضْلِهِۦٓ
faḍlihi
His Bounty
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, He
كَانَ
kāna
is
بِكُمْ
bikum
to you
رَحِيمًا
raḥīman
Ever Merciful
It is your Lord who drives the ship for you through the sea that you may seek of His bounty. Indeed, He is ever, to you, Merciful.

17:67
Ayah 17:67
وَإِذَا مَسَّكُمُ ٱلضُّرُّ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ ضَلَّ مَن تَدْعُونَ إِلَّآ إِيَّاهُ ۖ فَلَمَّا نَجَّىٰكُمْ إِلَى ٱلْبَرِّ أَعْرَضْتُمْ ۚ وَكَانَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ كَفُورًا
وَإِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
مَسَّكُمُ
massakumu
touches you
ٱلضُّرُّ
l-ḍuru
the hardship
فِى
in
ٱلْبَحْرِ
l-baḥri
the sea
ضَلَّ
ḍalla
lost
مَن
man
(are) who
تَدْعُونَ
tadʿūna
you call
إِلَّآ
illā
except
إِيَّاهُ
iyyāhu
Him Alone
فَلَمَّا
falammā
But when
نَجَّىٰكُمْ
najjākum
He delivers you
إِلَى
ilā
to
ٱلْبَرِّ
l-bari
the land
أَعْرَضْتُمْ
aʿraḍtum
you turn away
وَكَانَ
wakāna
And is
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ
l-insānu
man
كَفُورًا
kafūran
ungrateful
And when adversity touches you at sea, lost are [all] those you invoke except for Him. But when He delivers you to the land, you turn away [from Him]. And ever is man ungrateful.

17:68
Ayah 17:68
أَفَأَمِنتُمْ أَن يَخْسِفَ بِكُمْ جَانِبَ ٱلْبَرِّ أَوْ يُرْسِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ حَاصِبًا ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُوا۟ لَكُمْ وَكِيلًا
أَفَأَمِنتُمْ
afa-amintum
Do you then feel secure
أَن
an
that (not)
يَخْسِفَ
yakhsifa
He will cause to swallow
بِكُمْ
bikum
you
جَانِبَ
jāniba
side
ٱلْبَرِّ
l-bari
(of) the land
أَوْ
aw
or
يُرْسِلَ
yur'sila
send
عَلَيْكُمْ
ʿalaykum
against you
حَاصِبًا
ḥāṣiban
a storm of stones
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
لَا
not
تَجِدُوا۟
tajidū
you will find
لَكُمْ
lakum
for you
وَكِيلًا
wakīlan
a guardian
Then do you feel secure that [instead] He will not cause a part of the land to swallow you or send against you a storm of stones? Then you would not find for yourselves an advocate.

17:69
Ayah 17:69
أَمْ أَمِنتُمْ أَن يُعِيدَكُمْ فِيهِ تَارَةً أُخْرَىٰ فَيُرْسِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ قَاصِفًا مِّنَ ٱلرِّيحِ فَيُغْرِقَكُم بِمَا كَفَرْتُمْ ۙ ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُوا۟ لَكُمْ عَلَيْنَا بِهِۦ تَبِيعًا
أَمْ
am
Or
أَمِنتُمْ
amintum
do you feel secure
أَن
an
that (not)
يُعِيدَكُمْ
yuʿīdakum
He will send you back
فِيهِ
fīhi
into it
تَارَةً
tāratan
another time
أُخْرَىٰ
ukh'rā
another time
فَيُرْسِلَ
fayur'sila
and send
عَلَيْكُمْ
ʿalaykum
upon you
قَاصِفًا
qāṣifan
a hurricane
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلرِّيحِ
l-rīḥi
the wind
فَيُغْرِقَكُم
fayugh'riqakum
and drown you
بِمَا
bimā
because
كَفَرْتُمْ
kafartum
you disbelieved
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
لَا
not
تَجِدُوا۟
tajidū
you will find
لَكُمْ
lakum
for you
عَلَيْنَا
ʿalaynā
against Us
بِهِۦ
bihi
therein
تَبِيعًا
tabīʿan
an avenger
Or do you feel secure that He will not send you back into it [i.e., the sea] another time and send upon you a hurricane of wind and drown you for what you denied?1 Then you would not find for yourselves against Us an avenger.2

17:70
Ayah 17:70
۞ وَلَقَدْ كَرَّمْنَا بَنِىٓ ءَادَمَ وَحَمَلْنَـٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ وَرَزَقْنَـٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ وَفَضَّلْنَـٰهُمْ عَلَىٰ كَثِيرٍ مِّمَّنْ خَلَقْنَا تَفْضِيلًا
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And certainly
كَرَّمْنَا
karramnā
We have honored
بَنِىٓ
banī
(the) children of Adam
ءَادَمَ
ādama
(the) children of Adam
وَحَمَلْنَـٰهُمْ
waḥamalnāhum
and We carried them
فِى
on
ٱلْبَرِّ
l-bari
the land
وَٱلْبَحْرِ
wal-baḥri
and the sea
وَرَزَقْنَـٰهُم
warazaqnāhum
and We have provided them
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ
l-ṭayibāti
the good things
وَفَضَّلْنَـٰهُمْ
wafaḍḍalnāhum
and We preferred them
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
over
كَثِيرٍ
kathīrin
many
مِّمَّنْ
mimman
of those whom
خَلَقْنَا
khalaqnā
We have created
تَفْضِيلًا
tafḍīlan
(with) preference
And We have certainly honored the children of Adam and carried them on the land and sea and provided for them of the good things and preferred them over much of what We have created, with [definite] preference.

17:71
Ayah 17:71
يَوْمَ نَدْعُوا۟ كُلَّ أُنَاسٍۭ بِإِمَـٰمِهِمْ ۖ فَمَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ يَقْرَءُونَ كِتَـٰبَهُمْ وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ فَتِيلًا
يَوْمَ
yawma
(The) Day
نَدْعُوا۟
nadʿū
We will call
كُلَّ
kulla
all
أُنَاسٍۭ
unāsin
human beings
بِإِمَـٰمِهِمْ
bi-imāmihim
with their record
فَمَنْ
faman
then whoever
أُوتِىَ
ūtiya
is given
كِتَـٰبَهُۥ
kitābahu
his record
بِيَمِينِهِۦ
biyamīnihi
in his right hand
فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
fa-ulāika
then those
يَقْرَءُونَ
yaqraūna
will read
كِتَـٰبَهُمْ
kitābahum
their records
وَلَا
walā
and not
يُظْلَمُونَ
yuẓ'lamūna
they will be wronged
فَتِيلًا
fatīlan
(even as much as) a hair on a date seed
[Mention, O Muḥammad], the Day We will call forth every people with their record [of deeds].1 Then whoever is given his record in his right hand - those will read their records, and injustice will not be done to them, [even] as much as a thread [inside the date seed].

17:72
Ayah 17:72
وَمَن كَانَ فِى هَـٰذِهِۦٓ أَعْمَىٰ فَهُوَ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ أَعْمَىٰ وَأَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا
وَمَن
waman
And whoever
كَانَ
kāna
is
فِى
in
هَـٰذِهِۦٓ
hādhihi
this (world)
أَعْمَىٰ
aʿmā
blind
فَهُوَ
fahuwa
then he
فِى
in
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
l-ākhirati
the Hereafter
أَعْمَىٰ
aʿmā
(will be) blind
وَأَضَلُّ
wa-aḍallu
and more astray
سَبِيلًا
sabīlan
(from the) path
And whoever is blind1 in this [life] will be blind in the Hereafter and more astray in way.

17:73
Ayah 17:73
وَإِن كَادُوا۟ لَيَفْتِنُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ لِتَفْتَرِىَ عَلَيْنَا غَيْرَهُۥ ۖ وَإِذًا لَّٱتَّخَذُوكَ خَلِيلًا
وَإِن
wa-in
And indeed
كَادُوا۟
kādū
they were about (to)
لَيَفْتِنُونَكَ
layaftinūnaka
tempt you away
عَنِ
ʿani
from
ٱلَّذِىٓ
alladhī
that which
أَوْحَيْنَآ
awḥaynā
We revealed
إِلَيْكَ
ilayka
to you
لِتَفْتَرِىَ
litaftariya
that you invent
عَلَيْنَا
ʿalaynā
about Us
غَيْرَهُۥ
ghayrahu
other (than) it
وَإِذًا
wa-idhan
And then
لَّٱتَّخَذُوكَ
la-ittakhadhūka
surely they would take you
خَلِيلًا
khalīlan
(as) a friend
And indeed, they were about to tempt you away from that which We revealed to you in order to [make] you invent about Us something else; and then they would have taken you as a friend.

17:74
Ayah 17:74
وَلَوْلَآ أَن ثَبَّتْنَـٰكَ لَقَدْ كِدتَّ تَرْكَنُ إِلَيْهِمْ شَيْـًٔا قَلِيلًا
وَلَوْلَآ
walawlā
And if not
أَن
an
[that]
ثَبَّتْنَـٰكَ
thabbatnāka
We (had) strengthened you
لَقَدْ
laqad
certainly
كِدتَّ
kidtta
you almost
تَرْكَنُ
tarkanu
(would) have inclined
إِلَيْهِمْ
ilayhim
to them
شَيْـًٔا
shayan
(in) something
قَلِيلًا
qalīlan
a little
And if We had not strengthened you, you would have almost inclined to them a little.

17:75
Ayah 17:75
إِذًا لَّأَذَقْنَـٰكَ ضِعْفَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ وَضِعْفَ ٱلْمَمَاتِ ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُ لَكَ عَلَيْنَا نَصِيرًا
إِذًا
idhan
Then
لَّأَذَقْنَـٰكَ
la-adhaqnāka
We (would) have made you taste
ضِعْفَ
ḍiʿ'fa
double
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
l-ḥayati
(in) the life
وَضِعْفَ
waḍiʿ'fa
and double
ٱلْمَمَاتِ
l-mamāti
(after) the death
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
لَا
not
تَجِدُ
tajidu
you (would) have found
لَكَ
laka
for you
عَلَيْنَا
ʿalaynā
against Us
نَصِيرًا
naṣīran
any helper
Then [if you had], We would have made you taste double [punishment in] life and double [after] death. Then you would not find for yourself against Us a helper.

17:76
Ayah 17:76
وَإِن كَادُوا۟ لَيَسْتَفِزُّونَكَ مِنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ لِيُخْرِجُوكَ مِنْهَا ۖ وَإِذًا لَّا يَلْبَثُونَ خِلَـٰفَكَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
وَإِن
wa-in
And indeed
كَادُوا۟
kādū
they were about
لَيَسْتَفِزُّونَكَ
layastafizzūnaka
(to) scare you
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the land
لِيُخْرِجُوكَ
liyukh'rijūka
that they evict you
مِنْهَا
min'hā
from it
وَإِذًا
wa-idhan
But then
لَّا
not
يَلْبَثُونَ
yalbathūna
they (would) have stayed
خِلَـٰفَكَ
khilāfaka
after you
إِلَّا
illā
except
قَلِيلًا
qalīlan
a little
And indeed, they were about to provoke [i.e., drive] you from the land [i.e., Makkah] to evict you therefrom. And then [when they do], they will not remain [there] after you, except for a little.1

17:77
Ayah 17:77
سُنَّةَ مَن قَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ مِن رُّسُلِنَا ۖ وَلَا تَجِدُ لِسُنَّتِنَا تَحْوِيلًا
سُنَّةَ
sunnata
(Such is Our) Way
مَن
man
(for) whom
قَدْ
qad
[verily]
أَرْسَلْنَا
arsalnā
We sent
قَبْلَكَ
qablaka
before you
مِن
min
of
رُّسُلِنَا
rusulinā
Our Messengers
وَلَا
walā
And not
تَجِدُ
tajidu
you will find
لِسُنَّتِنَا
lisunnatinā
(in) Our way
تَحْوِيلًا
taḥwīlan
any alteration
[That is Our] established way for those We had sent before you of Our messengers; and you will not find in Our way any alteration.

17:78
Ayah 17:78
أَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ لِدُلُوكِ ٱلشَّمْسِ إِلَىٰ غَسَقِ ٱلَّيْلِ وَقُرْءَانَ ٱلْفَجْرِ ۖ إِنَّ قُرْءَانَ ٱلْفَجْرِ كَانَ مَشْهُودًا
أَقِمِ
aqimi
Establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
l-ṣalata
the prayer
لِدُلُوكِ
lidulūki
at the decline
ٱلشَّمْسِ
l-shamsi
(of) the sun
إِلَىٰ
ilā
till
غَسَقِ
ghasaqi
(the) darkness
ٱلَّيْلِ
al-layli
(of) the night
وَقُرْءَانَ
waqur'āna
and Quran
ٱلْفَجْرِ
l-fajri
at dawn
إِنَّ
inna
indeed
قُرْءَانَ
qur'āna
the Quran
ٱلْفَجْرِ
l-fajri
(at) the dawn
كَانَ
kāna
is
مَشْهُودًا
mashhūdan
ever witnessed
Establish prayer at the decline of the sun [from its meridian] until the darkness of the night1 and [also] the Qur’ān [i.e., recitation] of dawn.2 Indeed, the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed.

17:79
Ayah 17:79
وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَتَهَجَّدْ بِهِۦ نَافِلَةً لَّكَ عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَبْعَثَكَ رَبُّكَ مَقَامًا مَّحْمُودًا
وَمِنَ
wamina
And from
ٱلَّيْلِ
al-layli
the night
فَتَهَجَّدْ
fatahajjad
arise from sleep for prayer
بِهِۦ
bihi
with it
نَافِلَةً
nāfilatan
(as) additional
لَّكَ
laka
for you
عَسَىٰٓ
ʿasā
it may be
أَن
an
that
يَبْعَثَكَ
yabʿathaka
will raise you
رَبُّكَ
rabbuka
your Lord
مَقَامًا
maqāman
(to) a station
مَّحْمُودًا
maḥmūdan
praiseworthy
And from [part of] the night, pray1 with it [i.e., recitation of the Qur’ān] as additional [worship] for you; it is expected that2 your Lord will resurrect you to a praised station.3

17:80
Ayah 17:80
وَقُل رَّبِّ أَدْخِلْنِى مُدْخَلَ صِدْقٍ وَأَخْرِجْنِى مُخْرَجَ صِدْقٍ وَٱجْعَل لِّى مِن لَّدُنكَ سُلْطَـٰنًا نَّصِيرًا
وَقُل
waqul
And say
رَّبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
أَدْخِلْنِى
adkhil'nī
Cause me to enter
مُدْخَلَ
mud'khala
an entrance
صِدْقٍ
ṣid'qin
sound
وَأَخْرِجْنِى
wa-akhrij'nī
and cause me to exit
مُخْرَجَ
mukh'raja
an exit
صِدْقٍ
ṣid'qin
sound
وَٱجْعَل
wa-ij'ʿal
and make
لِّى
for me
مِن
min
from
لَّدُنكَ
ladunka
near You
سُلْطَـٰنًا
sul'ṭānan
an authority
نَّصِيرًا
naṣīran
helping
And say, "My Lord, cause me to enter a sound entrance1 and to exit a sound exit2 and grant me from Yourself a supporting authority."

17:81
Ayah 17:81
وَقُلْ جَآءَ ٱلْحَقُّ وَزَهَقَ ٱلْبَـٰطِلُ ۚ إِنَّ ٱلْبَـٰطِلَ كَانَ زَهُوقًا
وَقُلْ
waqul
And say
جَآءَ
jāa
Has come
ٱلْحَقُّ
l-ḥaqu
the truth
وَزَهَقَ
wazahaqa
and perished
ٱلْبَـٰطِلُ
l-bāṭilu
the falsehood
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلْبَـٰطِلَ
l-bāṭila
the falsehood
كَانَ
kāna
is
زَهُوقًا
zahūqan
(bound) to perish
And say, "Truth has come, and falsehood has departed. Indeed is falsehood, [by nature], ever bound to depart."

17:82
Ayah 17:82
وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ ٱلْقُرْءَانِ مَا هُوَ شِفَآءٌ وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۙ وَلَا يَزِيدُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا خَسَارًا
وَنُنَزِّلُ
wanunazzilu
And We reveal
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلْقُرْءَانِ
l-qur'āni
the Quran
مَا
that
هُوَ
huwa
it
شِفَآءٌ
shifāon
(is) a healing
وَرَحْمَةٌ
waraḥmatun
and a mercy
لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
lil'mu'minīna
for the believers
وَلَا
walā
but not
يَزِيدُ
yazīdu
it increases
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīna
the wrongdoers
إِلَّا
illā
except
خَسَارًا
khasāran
(in) loss
And We send down of the Qur’ān that which is healing and mercy for the believers, but it does not increase the wrongdoers except in loss.

17:83
Ayah 17:83
وَإِذَآ أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَى ٱلْإِنسَـٰنِ أَعْرَضَ وَنَـَٔا بِجَانِبِهِۦ ۖ وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلشَّرُّ كَانَ يَـُٔوسًا
وَإِذَآ
wa-idhā
And when
أَنْعَمْنَا
anʿamnā
We bestow favor
عَلَى
ʿalā
on
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنِ
l-insāni
man
أَعْرَضَ
aʿraḍa
he turns away
وَنَـَٔا
wanaā
and becomes remote
بِجَانِبِهِۦ
bijānibihi
on his side
وَإِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
مَسَّهُ
massahu
touches him
ٱلشَّرُّ
l-sharu
the evil
كَانَ
kāna
he is
يَـُٔوسًا
yaūsan
(in) despair
And when We bestow favor upon man [i.e., the disbeliever], he turns away and distances himself; and when evil touches him, he is ever despairing.

17:84
Ayah 17:84
قُلْ كُلٌّ يَعْمَلُ عَلَىٰ شَاكِلَتِهِۦ فَرَبُّكُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ هُوَ أَهْدَىٰ سَبِيلًا
قُلْ
qul
Say
كُلٌّ
kullun
Each
يَعْمَلُ
yaʿmalu
works
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
on
شَاكِلَتِهِۦ
shākilatihi
his manner
فَرَبُّكُمْ
farabbukum
but your Lord
أَعْلَمُ
aʿlamu
(is) most knowing
بِمَنْ
biman
of who
هُوَ
huwa
[he]
أَهْدَىٰ
ahdā
(is) best guided
سَبِيلًا
sabīlan
(in) way
Say, "Each works according to his manner, but your Lord is most knowing of who is best guided in way."

17:85
Ayah 17:85
وَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلرُّوحِ ۖ قُلِ ٱلرُّوحُ مِنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّى وَمَآ أُوتِيتُم مِّنَ ٱلْعِلْمِ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
وَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَ
wayasalūnaka
And they ask you
عَنِ
ʿani
concerning
ٱلرُّوحِ
l-rūḥi
the soul
قُلِ
quli
Say
ٱلرُّوحُ
l-rūḥu
The soul
مِنْ
min
(is) of
أَمْرِ
amri
(the) affair
رَبِّى
rabbī
(of) my Lord
وَمَآ
wamā
And not
أُوتِيتُم
ūtītum
you have been given
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلْعِلْمِ
l-ʿil'mi
the knowledge
إِلَّا
illā
except
قَلِيلًا
qalīlan
a little
And they ask you, [O Muḥammad], about the soul. Say, "The soul is of the affair [i.e., concern] of my Lord. And you [i.e., mankind] have not been given of knowledge except a little."

17:86
Ayah 17:86
وَلَئِن شِئْنَا لَنَذْهَبَنَّ بِٱلَّذِىٓ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُ لَكَ بِهِۦ عَلَيْنَا وَكِيلًا
وَلَئِن
wala-in
And if
شِئْنَا
shi'nā
We willed
لَنَذْهَبَنَّ
lanadhhabanna
We (would) have surely taken away
بِٱلَّذِىٓ
bi-alladhī
that which
أَوْحَيْنَآ
awḥaynā
We have revealed
إِلَيْكَ
ilayka
to you
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
لَا
not
تَجِدُ
tajidu
you would find
لَكَ
laka
for you
بِهِۦ
bihi
concerning it
عَلَيْنَا
ʿalaynā
against Us
وَكِيلًا
wakīlan
any advocate
And if We willed, We could surely do away with that which We revealed to you. Then you would not find for yourself concerning it an advocate against Us.

17:87
Ayah 17:87
إِلَّا رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّ فَضْلَهُۥ كَانَ عَلَيْكَ كَبِيرًا
إِلَّا
illā
Except
رَحْمَةً
raḥmatan
a mercy
مِّن
min
from
رَّبِّكَ
rabbika
your Lord
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
فَضْلَهُۥ
faḍlahu
His Bounty
كَانَ
kāna
is
عَلَيْكَ
ʿalayka
upon you
كَبِيرًا
kabīran
great
Except [We have left it with you] as a mercy from your Lord. Indeed, His favor upon you has ever been great.

17:88
Ayah 17:88
قُل لَّئِنِ ٱجْتَمَعَتِ ٱلْإِنسُ وَٱلْجِنُّ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يَأْتُوا۟ بِمِثْلِ هَـٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانِ لَا يَأْتُونَ بِمِثْلِهِۦ وَلَوْ كَانَ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ ظَهِيرًا
قُل
qul
Say
لَّئِنِ
la-ini
If
ٱجْتَمَعَتِ
ij'tamaʿati
gathered
ٱلْإِنسُ
l-insu
the mankind
وَٱلْجِنُّ
wal-jinu
and the jinn
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalā
to
أَن
an
[that]
يَأْتُوا۟
yatū
bring
بِمِثْلِ
bimith'li
the like
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
(of) this
ٱلْقُرْءَانِ
l-qur'āni
Quran
لَا
not
يَأْتُونَ
yatūna
they (could) bring
بِمِثْلِهِۦ
bimith'lihi
the like of it
وَلَوْ
walaw
even if
كَانَ
kāna
were
بَعْضُهُمْ
baʿḍuhum
some of them
لِبَعْضٍ
libaʿḍin
to some others
ظَهِيرًا
ẓahīran
assistants
Say, "If mankind and the jinn gathered in order to produce the like of this Qur’ān, they could not produce the like of it, even if they were to each other assistants."

17:89
Ayah 17:89
وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَا لِلنَّاسِ فِى هَـٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانِ مِن كُلِّ مَثَلٍ فَأَبَىٰٓ أَكْثَرُ ٱلنَّاسِ إِلَّا كُفُورًا
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And verily
صَرَّفْنَا
ṣarrafnā
We have explained
لِلنَّاسِ
lilnnāsi
to mankind
فِى
in
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
this
ٱلْقُرْءَانِ
l-qur'āni
Quran
مِن
min
from
كُلِّ
kulli
every
مَثَلٍ
mathalin
example
فَأَبَىٰٓ
fa-abā
but refused
أَكْثَرُ
aktharu
most
ٱلنَّاسِ
l-nāsi
(of) the mankind
إِلَّا
illā
except
كُفُورًا
kufūran
disbelief
And We have certainly diversified for the people in this Qur’ān from every [kind of] example, but most of the people refused except disbelief.

17:90
Ayah 17:90
وَقَالُوا۟ لَن نُّؤْمِنَ لَكَ حَتَّىٰ تَفْجُرَ لَنَا مِنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ يَنۢبُوعًا
وَقَالُوا۟
waqālū
And they say
لَن
lan
Never
نُّؤْمِنَ
nu'mina
we will believe
لَكَ
laka
in you
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattā
until
تَفْجُرَ
tafjura
you cause to gush forth
لَنَا
lanā
for us
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
يَنۢبُوعًا
yanbūʿan
a spring
And they say, "We will not believe you until you break open for us from the ground a spring

17:91
Ayah 17:91
أَوْ تَكُونَ لَكَ جَنَّةٌ مِّن نَّخِيلٍ وَعِنَبٍ فَتُفَجِّرَ ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرَ خِلَـٰلَهَا تَفْجِيرًا
أَوْ
aw
Or
تَكُونَ
takūna
you have
لَكَ
laka
for you
جَنَّةٌ
jannatun
a garden
مِّن
min
of
نَّخِيلٍ
nakhīlin
date-palms
وَعِنَبٍ
waʿinabin
and grapes
فَتُفَجِّرَ
fatufajjira
and cause to gush forth
ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرَ
l-anhāra
the rivers
خِلَـٰلَهَا
khilālahā
within them
تَفْجِيرًا
tafjīran
abundantly
Or [until] you have a garden of palm trees and grapes and make rivers gush forth within them in force [and abundance]

17:92
Ayah 17:92
أَوْ تُسْقِطَ ٱلسَّمَآءَ كَمَا زَعَمْتَ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًا أَوْ تَأْتِىَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ قَبِيلًا
أَوْ
aw
Or
تُسْقِطَ
tus'qiṭa
you cause to fall
ٱلسَّمَآءَ
l-samāa
the sky
كَمَا
kamā
as
زَعَمْتَ
zaʿamta
you have claimed
عَلَيْنَا
ʿalaynā
upon us
كِسَفًا
kisafan
(in) pieces
أَوْ
aw
or
تَأْتِىَ
tatiya
you bring
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
Allah
وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ
wal-malāikati
and the Angels
قَبِيلًا
qabīlan
before (us)
Or you make the heaven fall upon us in fragments as you have claimed or you bring Allāh and the angels before [us]

17:93
Ayah 17:93
أَوْ يَكُونَ لَكَ بَيْتٌ مِّن زُخْرُفٍ أَوْ تَرْقَىٰ فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَلَن نُّؤْمِنَ لِرُقِيِّكَ حَتَّىٰ تُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْنَا كِتَـٰبًا نَّقْرَؤُهُۥ ۗ قُلْ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّى هَلْ كُنتُ إِلَّا بَشَرًا رَّسُولًا
أَوْ
aw
Or
يَكُونَ
yakūna
is
لَكَ
laka
for you
بَيْتٌ
baytun
a house
مِّن
min
of
زُخْرُفٍ
zukh'rufin
ornament
أَوْ
aw
or
تَرْقَىٰ
tarqā
you ascend
فِى
into
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāi
the sky
وَلَن
walan
And never
نُّؤْمِنَ
nu'mina
we will believe
لِرُقِيِّكَ
liruqiyyika
in your ascension
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattā
until
تُنَزِّلَ
tunazzila
you bring down
عَلَيْنَا
ʿalaynā
to us
كِتَـٰبًا
kitāban
a book
نَّقْرَؤُهُۥ
naqra-uhu
we could read it
قُلْ
qul
Say
سُبْحَانَ
sub'ḥāna
Glorified (is)
رَبِّى
rabbī
my Lord
هَلْ
hal
What
كُنتُ
kuntu
am I
إِلَّا
illā
but
بَشَرًا
basharan
a human
رَّسُولًا
rasūlan
a Messenger
Or you have a house of ornament [i.e., gold] or you ascend into the sky. And [even then], we will not believe in your ascension until you bring down to us a book we may read." Say, "Exalted is my Lord! Was I ever but a human messenger?"

17:94
Ayah 17:94
وَمَا مَنَعَ ٱلنَّاسَ أَن يُؤْمِنُوٓا۟ إِذْ جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوٓا۟ أَبَعَثَ ٱللَّهُ بَشَرًا رَّسُولًا
وَمَا
wamā
And what
مَنَعَ
manaʿa
prevented
ٱلنَّاسَ
l-nāsa
the people
أَن
an
that
يُؤْمِنُوٓا۟
yu'minū
they believe
إِذْ
idh
when
جَآءَهُمُ
jāahumu
came to them
ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
l-hudā
the guidance
إِلَّآ
illā
except
أَن
an
that
قَالُوٓا۟
qālū
they said
أَبَعَثَ
abaʿatha
Has Allah sent
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Has Allah sent
بَشَرًا
basharan
a human
رَّسُولًا
rasūlan
Messenger
And what prevented the people from believing when guidance came to them except that they said, "Has Allāh sent a human messenger?"

17:95
Ayah 17:95
قُل لَّوْ كَانَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مَلَـٰٓئِكَةٌ يَمْشُونَ مُطْمَئِنِّينَ لَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَلَكًا رَّسُولًا
قُل
qul
Say
لَّوْ
law
If
كَانَ
kāna
(there) were
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
مَلَـٰٓئِكَةٌ
malāikatun
Angels
يَمْشُونَ
yamshūna
walking
مُطْمَئِنِّينَ
muṭ'ma-innīna
securely
لَنَزَّلْنَا
lanazzalnā
surely We (would) have sent down
عَلَيْهِم
ʿalayhim
to them
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāi
the heaven
مَلَكًا
malakan
an Angel
رَّسُولًا
rasūlan
(as) a Messenger
Say, "If there were upon the earth angels walking securely,1 We would have sent down to them from the heaven an angel [as a] messenger."

17:96
Ayah 17:96
قُلْ كَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدًۢا بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ بِعِبَادِهِۦ خَبِيرًۢا بَصِيرًا
قُلْ
qul
Say
كَفَىٰ
kafā
Sufficient is
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
Allah
شَهِيدًۢا
shahīdan
(as) a witness
بَيْنِى
baynī
between me
وَبَيْنَكُمْ
wabaynakum
and between you
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, He
كَانَ
kāna
is
بِعِبَادِهِۦ
biʿibādihi
of His slaves
خَبِيرًۢا
khabīran
All-Aware
بَصِيرًا
baṣīran
All-Seer
Say, "Sufficient is Allāh as Witness between me and you. Indeed He is ever, concerning His servants, Aware and Seeing."

17:97
Ayah 17:97
وَمَن يَهْدِ ٱللَّهُ فَهُوَ ٱلْمُهْتَدِ ۖ وَمَن يُضْلِلْ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءَ مِن دُونِهِۦ ۖ وَنَحْشُرُهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ عُمْيًا وَبُكْمًا وَصُمًّا ۖ مَّأْوَىٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ ۖ كُلَّمَا خَبَتْ زِدْنَـٰهُمْ سَعِيرًا
وَمَن
waman
And whoever
يَهْدِ
yahdi
Allah guides
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah guides
فَهُوَ
fahuwa
then he (is)
ٱلْمُهْتَدِ
l-muh'tadi
the guided one
وَمَن
waman
and whoever
يُضْلِلْ
yuḍ'lil
He lets go astray
فَلَن
falan
then never
تَجِدَ
tajida
you will find
لَهُمْ
lahum
for them
أَوْلِيَآءَ
awliyāa
protectors
مِن
min
besides Him
دُونِهِۦ
dūnihi
besides Him
وَنَحْشُرُهُمْ
wanaḥshuruhum
And We will gather them
يَوْمَ
yawma
(on) the Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ
l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
on
وُجُوهِهِمْ
wujūhihim
their faces
عُمْيًا
ʿum'yan
blind
وَبُكْمًا
wabuk'man
and dumb
وَصُمًّا
waṣumman
and deaf
مَّأْوَىٰهُمْ
mawāhum
Their abode
جَهَنَّمُ
jahannamu
(is) Hell
كُلَّمَا
kullamā
every time
خَبَتْ
khabat
it subsides
زِدْنَـٰهُمْ
zid'nāhum
We (will) increase (for) them
سَعِيرًا
saʿīran
the blazing fire
And whoever Allāh guides - he is the [rightly] guided; and whoever He sends astray1 - you will never find for them protectors besides Him, and We will gather them on the Day of Resurrection [fallen] on their faces - blind, dumb and deaf. Their refuge is Hell; every time it subsides, We increase [for] them blazing fire.

17:98
Ayah 17:98
ذَٰلِكَ جَزَآؤُهُم بِأَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا وَقَالُوٓا۟ أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَـٰمًا وَرُفَـٰتًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ خَلْقًا جَدِيدًا
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
That
جَزَآؤُهُم
jazāuhum
(is) their recompense
بِأَنَّهُمْ
bi-annahum
because they
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieved
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا
biāyātinā
in Our Verses
وَقَالُوٓا۟
waqālū
and said
أَءِذَا
a-idhā
When
كُنَّا
kunnā
we are
عِظَـٰمًا
ʿiẓāman
bones
وَرُفَـٰتًا
warufātan
and crumbled particles
أَءِنَّا
a-innā
will we
لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
lamabʿūthūna
surely (be) resurrected
خَلْقًا
khalqan
(as) a creation
جَدِيدًا
jadīdan
new
That is their recompense because they disbelieved in Our verses and said, "When we are bones and crumbled particles, will we [truly] be resurrected [in] a new creation?"

17:99
Ayah 17:99
۞ أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ قَادِرٌ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يَخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُمْ وَجَعَلَ لَهُمْ أَجَلًا لَّا رَيْبَ فِيهِ فَأَبَى ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ إِلَّا كُفُورًا
أَوَلَمْ
awalam
Do not
يَرَوْا۟
yaraw
they see
أَنَّ
anna
that
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
the One Who
خَلَقَ
khalaqa
created
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَ
wal-arḍa
and the earth
قَادِرٌ
qādirun
(is) Able
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalā
[on]
أَن
an
to
يَخْلُقَ
yakhluqa
create
مِثْلَهُمْ
mith'lahum
the like of them
وَجَعَلَ
wajaʿala
And He has made
لَهُمْ
lahum
for them
أَجَلًا
ajalan
a term
لَّا
no
رَيْبَ
rayba
doubt
فِيهِ
fīhi
in it
فَأَبَى
fa-abā
But refused
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
l-ẓālimūna
the wrongdoers
إِلَّا
illā
except
كُفُورًا
kufūran
disbelief
Do they not see that Allāh, who created the heavens and earth, is [the one] Able to create the likes of them? And He has appointed for them a term, about which there is no doubt. But the wrongdoers refuse except disbelief.

17:100
Ayah 17:100
قُل لَّوْ أَنتُمْ تَمْلِكُونَ خَزَآئِنَ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّىٓ إِذًا لَّأَمْسَكْتُمْ خَشْيَةَ ٱلْإِنفَاقِ ۚ وَكَانَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ قَتُورًا
قُل
qul
Say
لَّوْ
law
If
أَنتُمْ
antum
you
تَمْلِكُونَ
tamlikūna
possess
خَزَآئِنَ
khazāina
the treasures
رَحْمَةِ
raḥmati
(of) the Mercy
رَبِّىٓ
rabbī
(of) my Lord
إِذًا
idhan
then
لَّأَمْسَكْتُمْ
la-amsaktum
surely you would withhold
خَشْيَةَ
khashyata
(out of) fear
ٱلْإِنفَاقِ
l-infāqi
(of) spending
وَكَانَ
wakāna
And is
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ
l-insānu
man
قَتُورًا
qatūran
stingy
Say [to them], "If you possessed the depositories of the mercy of my Lord, then you would withhold out of fear of spending." And ever has man been stingy.

17:101
Ayah 17:101
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ تِسْعَ ءَايَـٰتٍۭ بَيِّنَـٰتٍ ۖ فَسْـَٔلْ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ إِذْ جَآءَهُمْ فَقَالَ لَهُۥ فِرْعَوْنُ إِنِّى لَأَظُنُّكَ يَـٰمُوسَىٰ مَسْحُورًا
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And certainly
ءَاتَيْنَا
ātaynā
We had given
مُوسَىٰ
mūsā
Musa
تِسْعَ
tis'ʿa
nine
ءَايَـٰتٍۭ
āyātin
Signs
بَيِّنَـٰتٍ
bayyinātin
clear
فَسْـَٔلْ
fasal
so ask
بَنِىٓ
banī
(the) Children of Israel
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
is'rāīla
(the) Children of Israel
إِذْ
idh
when
جَآءَهُمْ
jāahum
he came to them
فَقَالَ
faqāla
then said
لَهُۥ
lahu
to him
فِرْعَوْنُ
fir'ʿawnu
Firaun
إِنِّى
innī
Indeed, I
لَأَظُنُّكَ
la-aẓunnuka
[I] think you
يَـٰمُوسَىٰ
yāmūsā
O Musa
مَسْحُورًا
masḥūran
(you are) bewitched
And We had certainly given Moses nine evident signs, so ask the Children of Israel [about] when he came to them and Pharaoh said to him, "Indeed I think, O Moses, that you are affected by magic."

17:102
Ayah 17:102
قَالَ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ مَآ أَنزَلَ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ إِلَّا رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ بَصَآئِرَ وَإِنِّى لَأَظُنُّكَ يَـٰفِرْعَوْنُ مَثْبُورًا
قَالَ
qāla
He said
لَقَدْ
laqad
Verily
عَلِمْتَ
ʿalim'ta
you have known
مَآ
none
أَنزَلَ
anzala
has sent down
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
hāulāi
these
إِلَّا
illā
except
رَبُّ
rabbu
(the) Lord
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti
(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
wal-arḍi
and the earth
بَصَآئِرَ
baṣāira
(as) evidence
وَإِنِّى
wa-innī
and indeed, I
لَأَظُنُّكَ
la-aẓunnuka
[I] surely think you
يَـٰفِرْعَوْنُ
yāfir'ʿawnu
O Firaun
مَثْبُورًا
mathbūran
(you are) destroyed
[Moses] said, "You have already known that none has sent down these [signs] except the Lord of the heavens and the earth as evidence, and indeed I think,1 O Pharaoh, that you are destroyed."

17:103
Ayah 17:103
فَأَرَادَ أَن يَسْتَفِزَّهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ فَأَغْرَقْنَـٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ جَمِيعًا
فَأَرَادَ
fa-arāda
So he intended
أَن
an
to
يَسْتَفِزَّهُم
yastafizzahum
drive them out
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the land
فَأَغْرَقْنَـٰهُ
fa-aghraqnāhu
but We drowned him
وَمَن
waman
and who
مَّعَهُۥ
maʿahu
(were) with him
جَمِيعًا
jamīʿan
all
So he intended to drive them from the land, but We drowned him and those with him all together.

17:104
Ayah 17:104
وَقُلْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ لِبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ ٱسْكُنُوا۟ ٱلْأَرْضَ فَإِذَا جَآءَ وَعْدُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ جِئْنَا بِكُمْ لَفِيفًا
وَقُلْنَا
waqul'nā
And We said
مِنۢ
min
after him
بَعْدِهِۦ
baʿdihi
after him
لِبَنِىٓ
libanī
to the Children of Israel
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
is'rāīla
to the Children of Israel
ٱسْكُنُوا۟
us'kunū
Dwell
ٱلْأَرْضَ
l-arḍa
(in) the land
فَإِذَا
fa-idhā
then when
جَآءَ
jāa
comes
وَعْدُ
waʿdu
(the) promise
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
l-ākhirati
(of) the Hereafter
جِئْنَا
ji'nā
We will bring
بِكُمْ
bikum
you
لَفِيفًا
lafīfan
(as) a mixed crowd
And We said after him [i.e., Pharaoh] to the Children of Israel, "Dwell in the land, and when there comes the promise [i.e., appointment] of the Hereafter, We will bring you forth in [one] gathering."

17:105
Ayah 17:105
وَبِٱلْحَقِّ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ وَبِٱلْحَقِّ نَزَلَ ۗ وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَـٰكَ إِلَّا مُبَشِّرًا وَنَذِيرًا
وَبِٱلْحَقِّ
wabil-ḥaqi
And with the truth
أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ
anzalnāhu
We sent it down
وَبِٱلْحَقِّ
wabil-ḥaqi
and with the truth
نَزَلَ
nazala
it descended
وَمَآ
wamā
And not
أَرْسَلْنَـٰكَ
arsalnāka
We sent you
إِلَّا
illā
except
مُبَشِّرًا
mubashiran
(as) a bearer of glad tidings
وَنَذِيرًا
wanadhīran
and a warner
And with the truth We have sent it [i.e., the Qur’ān] down, and with the truth it has descended. And We have not sent you, [O Muḥammad], except as a bringer of good tidings and a warner.

17:106
Ayah 17:106
وَقُرْءَانًا فَرَقْنَـٰهُ لِتَقْرَأَهُۥ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ عَلَىٰ مُكْثٍ وَنَزَّلْنَـٰهُ تَنزِيلًا
وَقُرْءَانًا
waqur'ānan
And the Quran
فَرَقْنَـٰهُ
faraqnāhu
We have divided
لِتَقْرَأَهُۥ
litaqra-ahu
that you might recite it
عَلَى
ʿalā
to
ٱلنَّاسِ
l-nāsi
the people
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
at
مُكْثٍ
muk'thin
intervals
وَنَزَّلْنَـٰهُ
wanazzalnāhu
And We have revealed it
تَنزِيلًا
tanzīlan
(in) stages
And [it is] a Qur’ān which We have separated [by intervals] that you might recite it to the people over a prolonged period. And We have sent it down progressively.

17:107
Ayah 17:107
قُلْ ءَامِنُوا۟ بِهِۦٓ أَوْ لَا تُؤْمِنُوٓا۟ ۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْعِلْمَ مِن قَبْلِهِۦٓ إِذَا يُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ يَخِرُّونَ لِلْأَذْقَانِ سُجَّدًا
قُلْ
qul
Say
ءَامِنُوا۟
āminū
Believe
بِهِۦٓ
bihi
in it
أَوْ
aw
or
لَا
(do) not
تُؤْمِنُوٓا۟
tu'minū
believe
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
أُوتُوا۟
ūtū
were given
ٱلْعِلْمَ
l-ʿil'ma
the knowledge
مِن
min
before it
قَبْلِهِۦٓ
qablihi
before it
إِذَا
idhā
when
يُتْلَىٰ
yut'lā
it is recited
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
to them
يَخِرُّونَ
yakhirrūna
they fall
لِلْأَذْقَانِ
lil'adhqāni
on their faces
سُجَّدًا
sujjadan
(in) prostration
Say, "Believe in it or do not believe." Indeed, those who were given knowledge before it1 - when it is recited to them, they fall upon their faces in prostration,

17:108
Ayah 17:108
وَيَقُولُونَ سُبْحَـٰنَ رَبِّنَآ إِن كَانَ وَعْدُ رَبِّنَا لَمَفْعُولًا
وَيَقُولُونَ
wayaqūlūna
And they say
سُبْحَـٰنَ
sub'ḥāna
Glory be to
رَبِّنَآ
rabbinā
our Lord
إِن
in
Indeed
كَانَ
kāna
is
وَعْدُ
waʿdu
(the) promise
رَبِّنَا
rabbinā
(of) our Lord
لَمَفْعُولًا
lamafʿūlan
surely fulfilled
And they say, "Exalted is our Lord! Indeed, the promise of our Lord has been fulfilled."

17:109
Ayah 17:109
وَيَخِرُّونَ لِلْأَذْقَانِ يَبْكُونَ وَيَزِيدُهُمْ خُشُوعًا ۩
وَيَخِرُّونَ
wayakhirrūna
And they fall
لِلْأَذْقَانِ
lil'adhqāni
on their faces
يَبْكُونَ
yabkūna
weeping
وَيَزِيدُهُمْ
wayazīduhum
and it increases them
خُشُوعًا
khushūʿan
(in) humility
And they fall upon their faces weeping, and it [i.e., the Qur’ān] increases them in humble submission.

17:110
Ayah 17:110
قُلِ ٱدْعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ أَوِ ٱدْعُوا۟ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنَ ۖ أَيًّا مَّا تَدْعُوا۟ فَلَهُ ٱلْأَسْمَآءُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۚ وَلَا تَجْهَرْ بِصَلَاتِكَ وَلَا تُخَافِتْ بِهَا وَٱبْتَغِ بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ سَبِيلًا
قُلِ
quli
Say
ٱدْعُوا۟
id'ʿū
Invoke
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
أَوِ
awi
or
ٱدْعُوا۟
id'ʿū
invoke
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنَ
l-raḥmāna
the Most Gracious
أَيًّا
ayyan
By whatever (name)
مَّا
By whatever (name)
تَدْعُوا۟
tadʿū
you invoke
فَلَهُ
falahu
to Him (belongs)
ٱلْأَسْمَآءُ
l-asmāu
the Most Beautiful Names
ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ
l-ḥus'nā
the Most Beautiful Names
وَلَا
walā
And (do) not
تَجْهَرْ
tajhar
be loud
بِصَلَاتِكَ
biṣalātika
in your prayers
وَلَا
walā
and not
تُخَافِتْ
tukhāfit
be silent
بِهَا
bihā
therein
وَٱبْتَغِ
wa-ib'taghi
but seek
بَيْنَ
bayna
between
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
that
سَبِيلًا
sabīlan
a way
Say, "Call upon Allāh or call upon the Most Merciful [ar-Raḥmān]. Whichever [name] you call - to Him belong the best names." And do not recite [too] loudly in your prayer or [too] quietly but seek between that an [intermediate] way.

17:111
Ayah 17:111
وَقُلِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِى لَمْ يَتَّخِذْ وَلَدًا وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ شَرِيكٌ فِى ٱلْمُلْكِ وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ وَلِىٌّ مِّنَ ٱلذُّلِّ ۖ وَكَبِّرْهُ تَكْبِيرًۢا
وَقُلِ
waquli
And say
ٱلْحَمْدُ
l-ḥamdu
All Praise
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
(is) for Allah
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
the One Who
لَمْ
lam
has not taken
يَتَّخِذْ
yattakhidh
has not taken
وَلَدًا
waladan
a son
وَلَمْ
walam
and not
يَكُن
yakun
is
لَّهُۥ
lahu
for Him
شَرِيكٌ
sharīkun
a partner
فِى
in
ٱلْمُلْكِ
l-mul'ki
the dominion
وَلَمْ
walam
and not
يَكُن
yakun
is
لَّهُۥ
lahu
for Him
وَلِىٌّ
waliyyun
any protector
مِّنَ
mina
out of
ٱلذُّلِّ
l-dhuli
weakness
وَكَبِّرْهُ
wakabbir'hu
And magnify Him
تَكْبِيرًۢا
takbīran
(with all) magnificence
And say, "Praise to Allāh, who has not taken a son and has had no partner in [His] dominion and has no [need of a] protector out of weakness; and glorify Him with [great] glorification."
