19:2
Ayah 19:2
ذِكْرُ رَحْمَتِ رَبِّكَ عَبْدَهُۥ زَكَرِيَّآ
ذِكْرُ
dhik'ru
(A) mention
رَحْمَتِ
raḥmati
(of the) Mercy
رَبِّكَ
rabbika
(of) your Lord
عَبْدَهُۥ
ʿabdahu
(to) His servant
زَكَرِيَّآ
zakariyyā
Zakariya
[This is] a mention of the mercy of your Lord to His servant Zechariah

19:3
Ayah 19:3
إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥ نِدَآءً خَفِيًّا
إِذْ
idh
When
نَادَىٰ
nādā
he called
رَبَّهُۥ
rabbahu
(to) his Lord
نِدَآءً
nidāan
a call
خَفِيًّا
khafiyyan
secret
When he called to his Lord a private call [i.e., supplication].

19:4
Ayah 19:4
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى وَهَنَ ٱلْعَظْمُ مِنِّى وَٱشْتَعَلَ ٱلرَّأْسُ شَيْبًا وَلَمْ أَكُنۢ بِدُعَآئِكَ رَبِّ شَقِيًّا
قَالَ
qāla
He said
رَبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
إِنِّى
innī
Indeed, [I]
وَهَنَ
wahana
(have) weakened
ٱلْعَظْمُ
l-ʿaẓmu
my bones
مِنِّى
minnī
my bones
وَٱشْتَعَلَ
wa-ish'taʿala
and flared
ٱلرَّأْسُ
l-rasu
(my) head
شَيْبًا
shayban
(with) white
وَلَمْ
walam
and not
أَكُنۢ
akun
I have been
بِدُعَآئِكَ
biduʿāika
in (my) supplication (to) You
رَبِّ
rabbi
my Lord
شَقِيًّا
shaqiyyan
unblessed
He said, "My Lord, indeed my bones have weakened, and my head has filled1 with white, and never have I been in my supplication to You, my Lord, unhappy [i.e., disappointed].

19:5
Ayah 19:5
وَإِنِّى خِفْتُ ٱلْمَوَٰلِىَ مِن وَرَآءِى وَكَانَتِ ٱمْرَأَتِى عَاقِرًا فَهَبْ لِى مِن لَّدُنكَ وَلِيًّا
وَإِنِّى
wa-innī
And indeed, I
خِفْتُ
khif'tu
[I] fear
ٱلْمَوَٰلِىَ
l-mawāliya
the successors
مِن
min
after me
وَرَآءِى
warāī
after me
وَكَانَتِ
wakānati
and is
ٱمْرَأَتِى
im'ra-atī
my wife
عَاقِرًا
ʿāqiran
barren
فَهَبْ
fahab
So give
لِى
[to] me
مِن
min
from
لَّدُنكَ
ladunka
Yourself
وَلِيًّا
waliyyan
an heir
And indeed, I fear the successors1 after me, and my wife has been barren, so give me from Yourself an heir

19:6
Ayah 19:6
يَرِثُنِى وَيَرِثُ مِنْ ءَالِ يَعْقُوبَ ۖ وَٱجْعَلْهُ رَبِّ رَضِيًّا
يَرِثُنِى
yarithunī
Who will inherit me
وَيَرِثُ
wayarithu
and inherit
مِنْ
min
from
ءَالِ
āli
(the) family
يَعْقُوبَ
yaʿqūba
(of) Yaqub
وَٱجْعَلْهُ
wa-ij'ʿalhu
And make him
رَبِّ
rabbi
my Lord
رَضِيًّا
raḍiyyan
pleasing
Who will inherit me1 and inherit from the family of Jacob. And make him, my Lord, pleasing [to You]."

19:7
Ayah 19:7
يَـٰزَكَرِيَّآ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَـٰمٍ ٱسْمُهُۥ يَحْيَىٰ لَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُۥ مِن قَبْلُ سَمِيًّا
يَـٰزَكَرِيَّآ
yāzakariyyā
O Zakariya
إِنَّا
innā
Indeed, We
نُبَشِّرُكَ
nubashiruka
[We] give you glad tidings
بِغُلَـٰمٍ
bighulāmin
of a boy
ٱسْمُهُۥ
us'muhu
his name
يَحْيَىٰ
yaḥyā
(will be) Yahya
لَمْ
lam
not
نَجْعَل
najʿal
We (have) assigned
لَّهُۥ
lahu
[for] it
مِن
min
before
قَبْلُ
qablu
before
سَمِيًّا
samiyyan
(this) name
[He was told],1 "O Zechariah, indeed We give you good tidings of a boy whose name will be John. We have not assigned to any before [this] name."

19:8
Ayah 19:8
قَالَ رَبِّ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لِى غُلَـٰمٌ وَكَانَتِ ٱمْرَأَتِى عَاقِرًا وَقَدْ بَلَغْتُ مِنَ ٱلْكِبَرِ عِتِيًّا
قَالَ

He said
رَبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
أَنَّىٰ
annā
How
يَكُونُ
yakūnu
can
لِى
I have
غُلَـٰمٌ
ghulāmun
a boy
وَكَانَتِ
wakānati
while is
ٱمْرَأَتِى
im'ra-atī
my wife
عَاقِرًا
ʿāqiran
barren
وَقَدْ
waqad
and indeed
بَلَغْتُ
balaghtu
I have reached
مِنَ
mina
of
ٱلْكِبَرِ
l-kibari
the old age
عِتِيًّا
ʿitiyyan
extreme
He said, "My Lord, how will I have a boy when my wife has been barren and I have reached extreme old age?"

19:9
Ayah 19:9
قَالَ كَذَٰلِكَ قَالَ رَبُّكَ هُوَ عَلَىَّ هَيِّنٌ وَقَدْ خَلَقْتُكَ مِن قَبْلُ وَلَمْ تَكُ شَيْـًٔا
قَالَ

He said
كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhālika
Thus
قَالَ
qāla
said
رَبُّكَ
rabbuka
your Lord
هُوَ
huwa
'It
عَلَىَّ
ʿalayya
(is) easy for Me
هَيِّنٌ
hayyinun
(is) easy for Me
وَقَدْ
waqad
and certainly
خَلَقْتُكَ
khalaqtuka
I (have) created you
مِن
min
before
قَبْلُ
qablu
before
وَلَمْ
walam
while not
تَكُ
taku
you were
شَيْـًٔا
shayan
anything.'
[An angel] said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, for I created you before, while you were nothing.'"

19:10
Ayah 19:10
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱجْعَل لِّىٓ ءَايَةً ۚ قَالَ ءَايَتُكَ أَلَّا تُكَلِّمَ ٱلنَّاسَ ثَلَـٰثَ لَيَالٍ سَوِيًّا
قَالَ

He said
رَبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
ٱجْعَل
ij'ʿal
Make
لِّىٓ
for me
ءَايَةً
āyatan
a sign
قَالَ
qāla
He said
ءَايَتُكَ
āyatuka
Your sign
أَلَّا
allā
(is) that not
تُكَلِّمَ
tukallima
you will speak
ٱلنَّاسَ
l-nāsa
(to) the people
ثَلَـٰثَ
thalātha
(for) three
لَيَالٍ
layālin
nights
سَوِيًّا
sawiyyan
sound
[Zechariah] said, "My Lord, make for me a sign." He said, "Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three nights, [being] sound."1

19:11
Ayah 19:11
فَخَرَجَ عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ مِنَ ٱلْمِحْرَابِ فَأَوْحَىٰٓ إِلَيْهِمْ أَن سَبِّحُوا۟ بُكْرَةً وَعَشِيًّا
فَخَرَجَ
fakharaja
Then he came out
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
to
قَوْمِهِۦ
qawmihi
his people
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلْمِحْرَابِ
l-miḥ'rābi
the prayer chamber
فَأَوْحَىٰٓ
fa-awḥā
and he signaled
إِلَيْهِمْ
ilayhim
to them
أَن
an
to
سَبِّحُوا۟
sabbiḥū
glorify (Allah)
بُكْرَةً
buk'ratan
(in) the morning
وَعَشِيًّا
waʿashiyyan
and (in) the evening
So he came out to his people from the prayer chamber and signaled to them to exalt [Allāh] in the morning and afternoon.

19:12
Ayah 19:12
يَـٰيَحْيَىٰ خُذِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ بِقُوَّةٍ ۖ وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلْحُكْمَ صَبِيًّا
يَـٰيَحْيَىٰ
yāyaḥyā
O Yahya
خُذِ
khudhi
Hold
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ
l-kitāba
the Scripture
بِقُوَّةٍ
biquwwatin
with strength
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ
waātaynāhu
And We gave him
ٱلْحُكْمَ
l-ḥuk'ma
[the] wisdom
صَبِيًّا
ṣabiyyan
(when he was) a child
[Allāh said], "O John, take the Scripture [i.e., adhere to it] with determination." And We gave him judgement [while yet] a boy

19:13
Ayah 19:13
وَحَنَانًا مِّن لَّدُنَّا وَزَكَوٰةً ۖ وَكَانَ تَقِيًّا
وَحَنَانًا
waḥanānan
And affection
مِّن
min
from
لَّدُنَّا
ladunnā
Us
وَزَكَوٰةً
wazakatan
and purity
وَكَانَ
wakāna
and he was
تَقِيًّا
taqiyyan
righteous
And affection from Us and purity, and he was fearing of Allāh

19:14
Ayah 19:14
وَبَرًّۢا بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ وَلَمْ يَكُن جَبَّارًا عَصِيًّا
وَبَرًّۢا
wabarran
And dutiful
بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ
biwālidayhi
to his parents
وَلَمْ
walam
and not
يَكُن
yakun
he was
جَبَّارًا
jabbāran
a tyrant
عَصِيًّا
ʿaṣiyyan
disobedient
And dutiful to his parents, and he was not a disobedient tyrant.

19:15
Ayah 19:15
وَسَلَـٰمٌ عَلَيْهِ يَوْمَ وُلِدَ وَيَوْمَ يَمُوتُ وَيَوْمَ يُبْعَثُ حَيًّا
وَسَلَـٰمٌ
wasalāmun
And peace be
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhi
upon him
يَوْمَ
yawma
(the) day
وُلِدَ
wulida
he was born
وَيَوْمَ
wayawma
and (the) day
يَمُوتُ
yamūtu
he dies
وَيَوْمَ
wayawma
and (the) day
يُبْعَثُ
yub'ʿathu
he will be raised
حَيًّا
ḥayyan
alive
And peace be upon him the day he was born and the day he dies and the day he is raised alive.

19:16
Ayah 19:16
وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مَرْيَمَ إِذِ ٱنتَبَذَتْ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا مَكَانًا شَرْقِيًّا
وَٱذْكُرْ
wa-udh'kur
And mention
فِى
in
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
l-kitābi
the Book
مَرْيَمَ
maryama
Maryam
إِذِ
idhi
when
ٱنتَبَذَتْ
intabadhat
she withdrew
مِنْ
min
from
أَهْلِهَا
ahlihā
her family
مَكَانًا
makānan
(to) a place
شَرْقِيًّا
sharqiyyan
eastern
And mention, [O Muḥammad], in the Book [the story of] Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east.

19:17
Ayah 19:17
فَٱتَّخَذَتْ مِن دُونِهِمْ حِجَابًا فَأَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْهَا رُوحَنَا فَتَمَثَّلَ لَهَا بَشَرًا سَوِيًّا
فَٱتَّخَذَتْ
fa-ittakhadhat
Then she took
مِن
min
from them
دُونِهِمْ
dūnihim
from them
حِجَابًا
ḥijāban
a screen
فَأَرْسَلْنَآ
fa-arsalnā
Then We sent
إِلَيْهَا
ilayhā
to her
رُوحَنَا
rūḥanā
Our Spirit
فَتَمَثَّلَ
fatamathala
then he assumed for her the likeness
لَهَا
lahā
then he assumed for her the likeness
بَشَرًا
basharan
(of) a man
سَوِيًّا
sawiyyan
well-proportioned
And she took, in seclusion from them, a screen. Then We sent to her Our Angel [i.e., Gabriel], and he represented himself to her as a well-proportioned man.

19:18
Ayah 19:18
قَالَتْ إِنِّىٓ أَعُوذُ بِٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ مِنكَ إِن كُنتَ تَقِيًّا
قَالَتْ
qālat
She said
إِنِّىٓ
innī
Indeed, I
أَعُوذُ
aʿūdhu
[I] seek refuge
بِٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
bil-raḥmāni
with the Most Gracious
مِنكَ
minka
from you
إِن
in
if
كُنتَ
kunta
you are
تَقِيًّا
taqiyyan
God fearing
She said, "Indeed, I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from you, [so leave me], if you should be fearing of Allāh."

19:19
Ayah 19:19
قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ رَسُولُ رَبِّكِ لِأَهَبَ لَكِ غُلَـٰمًا زَكِيًّا
قَالَ
qāla
He said
إِنَّمَآ
innamā
Only
أَنَا۠
anā
I am
رَسُولُ
rasūlu
a Messenger
رَبِّكِ
rabbiki
(from) your Lord
لِأَهَبَ
li-ahaba
that I (may) bestow
لَكِ
laki
on you
غُلَـٰمًا
ghulāman
a son
زَكِيًّا
zakiyyan
pure
He said, "I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you [news of] a pure boy [i.e., son]."

19:20
Ayah 19:20
قَالَتْ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لِى غُلَـٰمٌ وَلَمْ يَمْسَسْنِى بَشَرٌ وَلَمْ أَكُ بَغِيًّا
قَالَتْ

She said
أَنَّىٰ
annā
How
يَكُونُ
yakūnu
can be
لِى
for me
غُلَـٰمٌ
ghulāmun
a son
وَلَمْ
walam
when not
يَمْسَسْنِى
yamsasnī
has touched me
بَشَرٌ
basharun
a man
وَلَمْ
walam
and not
أَكُ
aku
I am
بَغِيًّا
baghiyyan
unchaste
She said, "How can I have a boy while no man has touched me and I have not been unchaste?"

19:21
Ayah 19:21
قَالَ كَذَٰلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكِ هُوَ عَلَىَّ هَيِّنٌ ۖ وَلِنَجْعَلَهُۥٓ ءَايَةً لِّلنَّاسِ وَرَحْمَةً مِّنَّا ۚ وَكَانَ أَمْرًا مَّقْضِيًّا
قَالَ

He said
كَذَٰلِكِ
kadhāliki
Thus
قَالَ
qāla
said
رَبُّكِ
rabbuki
your Lord
هُوَ
huwa
'It
عَلَىَّ
ʿalayya
(is) for Me
هَيِّنٌ
hayyinun
easy
وَلِنَجْعَلَهُۥٓ
walinajʿalahu
and so that We will make him
ءَايَةً
āyatan
a sign
لِّلنَّاسِ
lilnnāsi
for the mankind
وَرَحْمَةً
waraḥmatan
and a Mercy
مِّنَّا
minnā
from Us
وَكَانَ
wakāna
And (it) is
أَمْرًا
amran
a matter
مَّقْضِيًّا
maqḍiyyan
decreed.'
He said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter [already] decreed.'"

19:22
Ayah 19:22
۞ فَحَمَلَتْهُ فَٱنتَبَذَتْ بِهِۦ مَكَانًا قَصِيًّا
فَحَمَلَتْهُ
faḥamalathu
So she conceived him
فَٱنتَبَذَتْ
fa-intabadhat
and she withdrew
بِهِۦ
bihi
with him
مَكَانًا
makānan
(to) a place
قَصِيًّا
qaṣiyyan
remote
So she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a remote place.

19:23
Ayah 19:23
فَأَجَآءَهَا ٱلْمَخَاضُ إِلَىٰ جِذْعِ ٱلنَّخْلَةِ قَالَتْ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى مِتُّ قَبْلَ هَـٰذَا وَكُنتُ نَسْيًا مَّنسِيًّا
فَأَجَآءَهَا
fa-ajāahā
Then drove her
ٱلْمَخَاضُ
l-makhāḍu
the pains of childbirth
إِلَىٰ
ilā
to
جِذْعِ
jidh'ʿi
(the) trunk
ٱلنَّخْلَةِ
l-nakhlati
(of) the date-palm
قَالَتْ
qālat
She said
يَـٰلَيْتَنِى
yālaytanī
O! I wish
مِتُّ
mittu
I (had) died
قَبْلَ
qabla
before
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
this
وَكُنتُ
wakuntu
and I was
نَسْيًا
nasyan
(in) oblivion
مَّنسِيًّا
mansiyyan
forgotten
And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, "Oh, I wish I had died before this and was in oblivion, forgotten."

19:24
Ayah 19:24
فَنَادَىٰهَا مِن تَحْتِهَآ أَلَّا تَحْزَنِى قَدْ جَعَلَ رَبُّكِ تَحْتَكِ سَرِيًّا
فَنَادَىٰهَا
fanādāhā
So cried to her
مِن
min
from
تَحْتِهَآ
taḥtihā
beneath her
أَلَّا
allā
That (do) not
تَحْزَنِى
taḥzanī
grieve
قَدْ
qad
verily
جَعَلَ
jaʿala
(has) placed
رَبُّكِ
rabbuki
your Lord
تَحْتَكِ
taḥtaki
beneath you
سَرِيًّا
sariyyan
a stream
But he1 called her from below her, "Do not grieve; your Lord has provided beneath you a stream.

19:25
Ayah 19:25
وَهُزِّىٓ إِلَيْكِ بِجِذْعِ ٱلنَّخْلَةِ تُسَـٰقِطْ عَلَيْكِ رُطَبًا جَنِيًّا
وَهُزِّىٓ
wahuzzī
And shake
إِلَيْكِ
ilayki
towards you
بِجِذْعِ
bijidh'ʿi
(the) trunk
ٱلنَّخْلَةِ
l-nakhlati
(of) the date-palm
تُسَـٰقِطْ
tusāqiṭ
it will drop
عَلَيْكِ
ʿalayki
upon you
رُطَبًا
ruṭaban
fresh dates
جَنِيًّا
janiyyan
ripe
And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates.

19:26
Ayah 19:26
فَكُلِى وَٱشْرَبِى وَقَرِّى عَيْنًا ۖ فَإِمَّا تَرَيِنَّ مِنَ ٱلْبَشَرِ أَحَدًا فَقُولِىٓ إِنِّى نَذَرْتُ لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ صَوْمًا فَلَنْ أُكَلِّمَ ٱلْيَوْمَ إِنسِيًّا
فَكُلِى
fakulī
So eat
وَٱشْرَبِى
wa-ish'rabī
and drink
وَقَرِّى
waqarrī
and cool
عَيْنًا
ʿaynan
(your) eyes
فَإِمَّا
fa-immā
And if
تَرَيِنَّ
tarayinna
you see
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلْبَشَرِ
l-bashari
human being
أَحَدًا
aḥadan
anyone
فَقُولِىٓ
faqūlī
then say
إِنِّى
innī
Indeed, I
نَذَرْتُ
nadhartu
[I] have vowed
لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
lilrraḥmāni
to the Most Gracious
صَوْمًا
ṣawman
a fast
فَلَنْ
falan
so not
أُكَلِّمَ
ukallima
I will speak
ٱلْيَوْمَ
l-yawma
today
إِنسِيًّا
insiyyan
(to any) human being
So eat and drink and be contented. And if you see from among humanity anyone, say, 'Indeed, I have vowed to the Most Merciful abstention, so I will not speak today to [any] man.'"

19:27
Ayah 19:27
فَأَتَتْ بِهِۦ قَوْمَهَا تَحْمِلُهُۥ ۖ قَالُوا۟ يَـٰمَرْيَمُ لَقَدْ جِئْتِ شَيْـًٔا فَرِيًّا
فَأَتَتْ
fa-atat
Then she came
بِهِۦ
bihi
with him
قَوْمَهَا
qawmahā
(to) her people
تَحْمِلُهُۥ
taḥmiluhu
carrying him
قَالُوا۟
qālū
They said
يَـٰمَرْيَمُ
yāmaryamu
O Maryam
لَقَدْ
laqad
Certainly
جِئْتِ
ji'ti
you (have) brought
شَيْـًٔا
shayan
an amazing thing
فَرِيًّا
fariyyan
an amazing thing
Then she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, "O Mary, you have certainly done a thing unprecedented.

19:28
Ayah 19:28
يَـٰٓأُخْتَ هَـٰرُونَ مَا كَانَ أَبُوكِ ٱمْرَأَ سَوْءٍ وَمَا كَانَتْ أُمُّكِ بَغِيًّا
يَـٰٓأُخْتَ
yāukh'ta
O sister
هَـٰرُونَ
hārūna
(of) Harun
مَا
Not
كَانَ
kāna
was
أَبُوكِ
abūki
your father
ٱمْرَأَ
im'ra-a
an evil man
سَوْءٍ
sawin
an evil man
وَمَا
wamā
and not
كَانَتْ
kānat
was
أُمُّكِ
ummuki
your mother
بَغِيًّا
baghiyyan
unchaste
O sister [i.e., descendant] of Aaron, your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste."

19:29
Ayah 19:29
فَأَشَارَتْ إِلَيْهِ ۖ قَالُوا۟ كَيْفَ نُكَلِّمُ مَن كَانَ فِى ٱلْمَهْدِ صَبِيًّا
فَأَشَارَتْ
fa-ashārat
Then she pointed
إِلَيْهِ
ilayhi
to him
قَالُوا۟
qālū
They said
كَيْفَ
kayfa
How
نُكَلِّمُ
nukallimu
(can) we speak
مَن
man
(to one) who
كَانَ
kāna
is
فِى
in
ٱلْمَهْدِ
l-mahdi
the cradle
صَبِيًّا
ṣabiyyan
a child
So she pointed to him. They said, "How can we speak to one who is in the cradle a child?"

19:30
Ayah 19:30
قَالَ إِنِّى عَبْدُ ٱللَّهِ ءَاتَىٰنِىَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَجَعَلَنِى نَبِيًّا
قَالَ
qāla
He said
إِنِّى
innī
Indeed, I am
عَبْدُ
ʿabdu
a slave
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
ءَاتَىٰنِىَ
ātāniya
He gave me
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ
l-kitāba
the Scripture
وَجَعَلَنِى
wajaʿalanī
and made me
نَبِيًّا
nabiyyan
a Prophet
[Jesus] said, "Indeed, I am the servant of Allāh. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.

19:31
Ayah 19:31
وَجَعَلَنِى مُبَارَكًا أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُ وَأَوْصَـٰنِى بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَٱلزَّكَوٰةِ مَا دُمْتُ حَيًّا
وَجَعَلَنِى
wajaʿalanī
And He (has) made me
مُبَارَكًا
mubārakan
blessed
أَيْنَ
ayna
wherever
مَا
wherever
كُنتُ
kuntu
I am
وَأَوْصَـٰنِى
wa-awṣānī
and has enjoined (on) me
بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ
bil-ṣalati
[of] the prayer
وَٱلزَّكَوٰةِ
wal-zakati
and zakah
مَا
as long as I am
دُمْتُ
dum'tu
as long as I am
حَيًّا
ḥayyan
alive
And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakāh as long as I remain alive

19:32
Ayah 19:32
وَبَرًّۢا بِوَٰلِدَتِى وَلَمْ يَجْعَلْنِى جَبَّارًا شَقِيًّا
وَبَرًّۢا
wabarran
And dutiful
بِوَٰلِدَتِى
biwālidatī
to my mother
وَلَمْ
walam
and not
يَجْعَلْنِى
yajʿalnī
He (has) made me
جَبَّارًا
jabbāran
insolent
شَقِيًّا
shaqiyyan
unblessed
And [made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant.

19:33
Ayah 19:33
وَٱلسَّلَـٰمُ عَلَىَّ يَوْمَ وُلِدتُّ وَيَوْمَ أَمُوتُ وَيَوْمَ أُبْعَثُ حَيًّا
وَٱلسَّلَـٰمُ
wal-salāmu
And peace (be)
عَلَىَّ
ʿalayya
on me
يَوْمَ
yawma
(the) day
وُلِدتُّ
wulidttu
I was born
وَيَوْمَ
wayawma
and (the) day
أَمُوتُ
amūtu
I will die
وَيَوْمَ
wayawma
and (the) Day
أُبْعَثُ
ub'ʿathu
I will be raised
حَيًّا
ḥayyan
alive
And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive."

19:34
Ayah 19:34
ذَٰلِكَ عِيسَى ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ ۚ قَوْلَ ٱلْحَقِّ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَ
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
That
عِيسَى
ʿīsā
(was) Isa
ٱبْنُ
ub'nu
(the) son
مَرْيَمَ
maryama
(of) Maryam
قَوْلَ
qawla
a statement
ٱلْحَقِّ
l-ḥaqi
(of) truth
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
that which
فِيهِ
fīhi
about it
يَمْتَرُونَ
yamtarūna
they dispute
That is Jesus, the son of Mary - the word of truth about which they are in dispute.

19:35
Ayah 19:35
مَا كَانَ لِلَّهِ أَن يَتَّخِذَ مِن وَلَدٍ ۖ سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥٓ ۚ إِذَا قَضَىٰٓ أَمْرًا فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُ
مَا
Not
كَانَ
kāna
(it) is
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
for Allah
أَن
an
that
يَتَّخِذَ
yattakhidha
He should take
مِن
min
any son
وَلَدٍ
waladin
any son
سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥٓ
sub'ḥānahu
Glory be to Him
إِذَا
idhā
When
قَضَىٰٓ
qaḍā
He decrees
أَمْرًا
amran
a matter
فَإِنَّمَا
fa-innamā
then only
يَقُولُ
yaqūlu
He says
لَهُۥ
lahu
to it
كُن
kun
Be
فَيَكُونُ
fayakūnu
and it is
It is not [befitting] for Allāh to take a son; exalted is He!1 When He decrees an affair, He only says to it, "Be," and it is.

19:36
Ayah 19:36
وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ رَبِّى وَرَبُّكُمْ فَٱعْبُدُوهُ ۚ هَـٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ
وَإِنَّ
wa-inna
And indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
رَبِّى
rabbī
(is) my Lord
وَرَبُّكُمْ
warabbukum
and your Lord
فَٱعْبُدُوهُ
fa-uʿ'budūhu
so worship Him
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
This
صِرَٰطٌ
ṣirāṭun
(is) a path
مُّسْتَقِيمٌ
mus'taqīmun
straight
[Jesus said], "And indeed, Allāh is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path."

19:37
Ayah 19:37
فَٱخْتَلَفَ ٱلْأَحْزَابُ مِنۢ بَيْنِهِمْ ۖ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن مَّشْهَدِ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
فَٱخْتَلَفَ
fa-ikh'talafa
But differed
ٱلْأَحْزَابُ
l-aḥzābu
the sects
مِنۢ
min
from among them
بَيْنِهِمْ
baynihim
from among them
فَوَيْلٌ
fawaylun
so woe
لِّلَّذِينَ
lilladhīna
to those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieve
مِن
min
from
مَّشْهَدِ
mashhadi
(the) witnessing
يَوْمٍ
yawmin
(of) a Day
عَظِيمٍ
ʿaẓīmin
great
Then the factions differed [concerning Jesus] from among them, so woe to those who disbelieved - from the scene of a tremendous Day.

19:38
Ayah 19:38
أَسْمِعْ بِهِمْ وَأَبْصِرْ يَوْمَ يَأْتُونَنَا ۖ لَـٰكِنِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ ٱلْيَوْمَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ
أَسْمِعْ
asmiʿ
How they will hear
بِهِمْ
bihim
How they will hear
وَأَبْصِرْ
wa-abṣir
and how (they will) see
يَوْمَ
yawma
(the) Day
يَأْتُونَنَا
yatūnanā
they will come to Us
لَـٰكِنِ
lākini
but
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
l-ẓālimūna
the wrongdoers
ٱلْيَوْمَ
l-yawma
today
فِى
(are) in
ضَلَـٰلٍ
ḍalālin
error
مُّبِينٍ
mubīnin
clear
How [clearly] they will hear and see the Day they come to Us, but the wrongdoers today are in clear error.

19:39
Ayah 19:39
وَأَنذِرْهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْحَسْرَةِ إِذْ قُضِىَ ٱلْأَمْرُ وَهُمْ فِى غَفْلَةٍ وَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
وَأَنذِرْهُمْ
wa-andhir'hum
And warn them
يَوْمَ
yawma
(of the) Day
ٱلْحَسْرَةِ
l-ḥasrati
(of) the Regret
إِذْ
idh
when
قُضِىَ
quḍiya
has been decided
ٱلْأَمْرُ
l-amru
the matter
وَهُمْ
wahum
And they
فِى
(are) in
غَفْلَةٍ
ghaflatin
heedlessness
وَهُمْ
wahum
and they
لَا
(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūna
believe
And warn them, [O Muḥammad], of the Day of Regret, when the matter will be concluded;1 and [yet], they are in [a state of] heedlessness, and they do not believe.

19:40
Ayah 19:40
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَرِثُ ٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَنْ عَلَيْهَا وَإِلَيْنَا يُرْجَعُونَ
إِنَّا
innā
Indeed, We
نَحْنُ
naḥnu
[We]
نَرِثُ
narithu
[We] will inherit
ٱلْأَرْضَ
l-arḍa
the earth
وَمَنْ
waman
and whoever
عَلَيْهَا
ʿalayhā
(is) on it
وَإِلَيْنَا
wa-ilaynā
and to Us
يُرْجَعُونَ
yur'jaʿūna
they will be returned
Indeed, it is We who will inherit the earth and whoever is on it, and to Us they will be returned.

19:41
Ayah 19:41
وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صِدِّيقًا نَّبِيًّا
وَٱذْكُرْ
wa-udh'kur
And mention
فِى
in
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
l-kitābi
the Book
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
ib'rāhīma
Ibrahim
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, he
كَانَ
kāna
was
صِدِّيقًا
ṣiddīqan
a man of truth
نَّبِيًّا
nabiyyan
a Prophet
And mention in the Book [the story of] Abraham. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet.

19:42
Ayah 19:42
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ يَـٰٓأَبَتِ لِمَ تَعْبُدُ مَا لَا يَسْمَعُ وَلَا يُبْصِرُ وَلَا يُغْنِى عَنكَ شَيْـًٔا
إِذْ

When
قَالَ
qāla
he said
لِأَبِيهِ
li-abīhi
to his father
يَـٰٓأَبَتِ
yāabati
O my father
لِمَ
lima
Why
تَعْبُدُ
taʿbudu
(do) you worship
مَا
that which
لَا
not
يَسْمَعُ
yasmaʿu
hears
وَلَا
walā
and not
يُبْصِرُ
yub'ṣiru
sees
وَلَا
walā
and not
يُغْنِى
yugh'nī
benefits
عَنكَ
ʿanka
[to] you
شَيْـًٔا
shayan
(in) anything
[Mention] when he said to his father, "O my father, why do you worship that which does not hear and does not see and will not benefit you at all?

19:43
Ayah 19:43
يَـٰٓأَبَتِ إِنِّى قَدْ جَآءَنِى مِنَ ٱلْعِلْمِ مَا لَمْ يَأْتِكَ فَٱتَّبِعْنِىٓ أَهْدِكَ صِرَٰطًا سَوِيًّا
يَـٰٓأَبَتِ
yāabati
O my father
إِنِّى
innī
Indeed, [I]
قَدْ
qad
verily
جَآءَنِى
jāanī
(has) come to me
مِنَ
mina
of
ٱلْعِلْمِ
l-ʿil'mi
the knowledge
مَا
what
لَمْ
lam
not
يَأْتِكَ
yatika
came to you
فَٱتَّبِعْنِىٓ
fa-ittabiʿ'nī
so follow me
أَهْدِكَ
ahdika
I will guide you
صِرَٰطًا
ṣirāṭan
(to) the path
سَوِيًّا
sawiyyan
even
O my father, indeed there has come to me of knowledge that which has not come to you, so follow me; I will guide you to an even path.

19:44
Ayah 19:44
يَـٰٓأَبَتِ لَا تَعْبُدِ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ ۖ إِنَّ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ كَانَ لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ عَصِيًّا
يَـٰٓأَبَتِ
yāabati
O my father
لَا
(Do) not
تَعْبُدِ
taʿbudi
worship
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ
l-shayṭāna
the Shaitaan
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ
l-shayṭāna
the Shaitaan
كَانَ
kāna
is
لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
lilrraḥmāni
to the Most Gracious
عَصِيًّا
ʿaṣiyyan
disobedient
O my father, do not worship [i.e., obey] Satan. Indeed Satan has ever been, to the Most Merciful, disobedient.

19:45
Ayah 19:45
يَـٰٓأَبَتِ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يَمَسَّكَ عَذَابٌ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ فَتَكُونَ لِلشَّيْطَـٰنِ وَلِيًّا
يَـٰٓأَبَتِ
yāabati
O my father
إِنِّىٓ
innī
Indeed, I
أَخَافُ
akhāfu
[I] fear
أَن
an
that
يَمَسَّكَ
yamassaka
will touch you
عَذَابٌ
ʿadhābun
a punishment
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
l-raḥmāni
the Most Gracious
فَتَكُونَ
fatakūna
so you would be
لِلشَّيْطَـٰنِ
lilshayṭāni
to the Shaitaan
وَلِيًّا
waliyyan
a friend
O my father, indeed I fear that there will touch you a punishment from the Most Merciful so you would be to Satan a companion [in Hellfire]."

19:46
Ayah 19:46
قَالَ أَرَاغِبٌ أَنتَ عَنْ ءَالِهَتِى يَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ ۖ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ لَأَرْجُمَنَّكَ ۖ وَٱهْجُرْنِى مَلِيًّا
قَالَ
qāla
He said
أَرَاغِبٌ
arāghibun
Do you hate
أَنتَ
anta
Do you hate
عَنْ
ʿan
(from)
ءَالِهَتِى
ālihatī
my gods
يَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ
yāib'rāhīmu
O Ibrahim
لَئِن
la-in
Surely, if
لَّمْ
lam
not
تَنتَهِ
tantahi
you desist
لَأَرْجُمَنَّكَ
la-arjumannaka
surely, I will stone you
وَٱهْجُرْنِى
wa-uh'jur'nī
so leave me
مَلِيًّا
maliyyan
(for) a prolonged time
[His father] said, "Have you no desire for my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I will surely stone you, so avoid me a prolonged time."

19:47
Ayah 19:47
قَالَ سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَيْكَ ۖ سَأَسْتَغْفِرُ لَكَ رَبِّىٓ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ بِى حَفِيًّا
قَالَ
qāla
He said
سَلَـٰمٌ
salāmun
Peace (be)
عَلَيْكَ
ʿalayka
on you
سَأَسْتَغْفِرُ
sa-astaghfiru
I will ask forgiveness
لَكَ
laka
for you
رَبِّىٓ
rabbī
(from) my Lord
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, He
كَانَ
kāna
is
بِى
to me
حَفِيًّا
ḥafiyyan
Ever Gracious
[Abraham] said, "Peace [i.e., safety] will be upon you.1 I will ask forgiveness for you of my Lord. Indeed, He is ever gracious to me.

19:48
Ayah 19:48
وَأَعْتَزِلُكُمْ وَمَا تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَأَدْعُوا۟ رَبِّى عَسَىٰٓ أَلَّآ أَكُونَ بِدُعَآءِ رَبِّى شَقِيًّا
وَأَعْتَزِلُكُمْ
wa-aʿtazilukum
And I will leave you
وَمَا
wamā
and what
تَدْعُونَ
tadʿūna
you invoke
مِن
min
besides
دُونِ
dūni
besides
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
وَأَدْعُوا۟
wa-adʿū
and I will invoke
رَبِّى
rabbī
my Lord
عَسَىٰٓ
ʿasā
May be
أَلَّآ
allā
that not
أَكُونَ
akūna
I will be
بِدُعَآءِ
biduʿāi
in invocation
رَبِّى
rabbī
(to) my Lord
شَقِيًّا
shaqiyyan
unblessed
And I will leave you and those you invoke other than Allāh and will invoke1 my Lord. I expect that I will not be in invocation to my Lord unhappy [i.e., disappointed]."

19:49
Ayah 19:49
فَلَمَّا ٱعْتَزَلَهُمْ وَمَا يَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَهَبْنَا لَهُۥٓ إِسْحَـٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ ۖ وَكُلًّا جَعَلْنَا نَبِيًّا
فَلَمَّا
falammā
So when
ٱعْتَزَلَهُمْ
iʿ'tazalahum
he left them
وَمَا
wamā
and what
يَعْبُدُونَ
yaʿbudūna
they worshipped
مِن
min
besides Allah
دُونِ
dūni
besides Allah
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
besides Allah
وَهَبْنَا
wahabnā
[and] We bestowed
لَهُۥٓ
lahu
[to] him
إِسْحَـٰقَ
is'ḥāqa
Isaac
وَيَعْقُوبَ
wayaʿqūba
and Yaqub
وَكُلًّا
wakullan
and each (of them)
جَعَلْنَا
jaʿalnā
We made
نَبِيًّا
nabiyyan
a Prophet
So when he had left them and those they worshipped other than Allāh, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each [of them] We made a prophet.

19:50
Ayah 19:50
وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُم مِّن رَّحْمَتِنَا وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ عَلِيًّا
وَوَهَبْنَا
wawahabnā
And We bestowed
لَهُم
lahum
to them
مِّن
min
of
رَّحْمَتِنَا
raḥmatinā
Our Mercy
وَجَعَلْنَا
wajaʿalnā
and We made
لَهُمْ
lahum
for them
لِسَانَ
lisāna
a truthful mention
صِدْقٍ
ṣid'qin
a truthful mention
عَلِيًّا
ʿaliyyan
high
And We gave them of Our mercy, and We made for them a mention [i.e., reputation] of high honor.

19:51
Ayah 19:51
وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مُوسَىٰٓ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مُخْلَصًا وَكَانَ رَسُولًا نَّبِيًّا
وَٱذْكُرْ
wa-udh'kur
And mention
فِى
in
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
l-kitābi
the Book
مُوسَىٰٓ
mūsā
Musa
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, he
كَانَ
kāna
was
مُخْلَصًا
mukh'laṣan
chosen
وَكَانَ
wakāna
and was
رَسُولًا
rasūlan
a Messenger
نَّبِيًّا
nabiyyan
a Prophet
And mention in the Book, Moses. Indeed, he was chosen, and he was a messenger and a prophet.1

19:52
Ayah 19:52
وَنَـٰدَيْنَـٰهُ مِن جَانِبِ ٱلطُّورِ ٱلْأَيْمَنِ وَقَرَّبْنَـٰهُ نَجِيًّا
وَنَـٰدَيْنَـٰهُ
wanādaynāhu
And We called him
مِن
min
from
جَانِبِ
jānibi
(the) side
ٱلطُّورِ
l-ṭūri
(of) the Mount
ٱلْأَيْمَنِ
l-aymani
the right
وَقَرَّبْنَـٰهُ
waqarrabnāhu
and brought him near
نَجِيًّا
najiyyan
(for) conversation
And We called him from the side of the mount1 at [his] right and brought him near, confiding [to him].

19:53
Ayah 19:53
وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥ مِن رَّحْمَتِنَآ أَخَاهُ هَـٰرُونَ نَبِيًّا
وَوَهَبْنَا
wawahabnā
And We bestowed
لَهُۥ
lahu
[to] him
مِن
min
from
رَّحْمَتِنَآ
raḥmatinā
Our Mercy
أَخَاهُ
akhāhu
his brother
هَـٰرُونَ
hārūna
Harun
نَبِيًّا
nabiyyan
a Prophet
And We gave him out of Our mercy his brother Aaron as a prophet.

19:54
Ayah 19:54
وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ إِسْمَـٰعِيلَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صَادِقَ ٱلْوَعْدِ وَكَانَ رَسُولًا نَّبِيًّا
وَٱذْكُرْ
wa-udh'kur
And mention
فِى
in
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
l-kitābi
the Book
إِسْمَـٰعِيلَ
is'māʿīla
Ishmael
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, he
كَانَ
kāna
was
صَادِقَ
ṣādiqa
true
ٱلْوَعْدِ
l-waʿdi
(to his) promise
وَكَانَ
wakāna
and was
رَسُولًا
rasūlan
a Messenger
نَّبِيًّا
nabiyyan
a Prophet
And mention in the Book, Ishmael. Indeed, he was true to his promise, and he was a messenger and a prophet.

19:55
Ayah 19:55
وَكَانَ يَأْمُرُ أَهْلَهُۥ بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَٱلزَّكَوٰةِ وَكَانَ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦ مَرْضِيًّا
وَكَانَ
wakāna
And he used
يَأْمُرُ
yamuru
(to) enjoin
أَهْلَهُۥ
ahlahu
(on) his people
بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ
bil-ṣalati
the prayer
وَٱلزَّكَوٰةِ
wal-zakati
and zakah
وَكَانَ
wakāna
and was
عِندَ
ʿinda
near
رَبِّهِۦ
rabbihi
his Lord
مَرْضِيًّا
marḍiyyan
pleasing
And he used to enjoin on his people prayer and zakāh and was to his Lord pleasing [i.e., accepted by Him].

19:56
Ayah 19:56
وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ إِدْرِيسَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صِدِّيقًا نَّبِيًّا
وَٱذْكُرْ
wa-udh'kur
And mention
فِى
in
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
l-kitābi
the Book
إِدْرِيسَ
id'rīsa
Idris
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, he
كَانَ
kāna
was
صِدِّيقًا
ṣiddīqan
truthful
نَّبِيًّا
nabiyyan
a Prophet
And mention in the Book, Idrees. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet.

19:57
Ayah 19:57
وَرَفَعْنَـٰهُ مَكَانًا عَلِيًّا
وَرَفَعْنَـٰهُ
warafaʿnāhu
And We raised him
مَكَانًا
makānan
(to) a position
عَلِيًّا
ʿaliyyan
high
And We raised him to a high station.

19:58
Ayah 19:58
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ مِن ذُرِّيَّةِ ءَادَمَ وَمِمَّنْ حَمَلْنَا مَعَ نُوحٍ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّةِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ وَمِمَّنْ هَدَيْنَا وَٱجْتَبَيْنَآ ۚ إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ خَرُّوا۟ سُجَّدًا وَبُكِيًّا ۩
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
Those
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
(were) the ones whom
أَنْعَمَ
anʿama
Allah bestowed favor
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah bestowed favor
عَلَيْهِم
ʿalayhim
upon them
مِّنَ
mina
from (among)
ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ
l-nabiyīna
the Prophets
مِن
min
of
ذُرِّيَّةِ
dhurriyyati
(the) offspring
ءَادَمَ
ādama
(of) Adam
وَمِمَّنْ
wamimman
and of those
حَمَلْنَا
ḥamalnā
We carried
مَعَ
maʿa
with
نُوحٍ
nūḥin
Nuh
وَمِن
wamin
and of
ذُرِّيَّةِ
dhurriyyati
(the) offspring
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
ib'rāhīma
(of) Ibrahim
وَإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
wa-is'rāīla
and Israel
وَمِمَّنْ
wamimman
and of (those) whom
هَدَيْنَا
hadaynā
We guided
وَٱجْتَبَيْنَآ
wa-ij'tabaynā
and We chose
إِذَا
idhā
When
تُتْلَىٰ
tut'lā
were recited
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
to them
ءَايَـٰتُ
āyātu
(the) Verses
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
l-raḥmāni
(of) the Most Gracious
خَرُّوا۟
kharrū
they fell
سُجَّدًا
sujjadan
prostrating
وَبُكِيًّا
wabukiyyan
and weeping
Those were the ones upon whom Allāh bestowed favor from among the prophets of the descendants of Adam and of those We carried [in the ship] with Noah, and of the descendants of Abraham and Israel [i.e., Jacob], and of those whom We guided and chose. When the verses of the Most Merciful were recited to them, they fell in prostration and weeping.

19:59
Ayah 19:59
۞ فَخَلَفَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌ أَضَاعُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ ٱلشَّهَوَٰتِ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَلْقَوْنَ غَيًّا
فَخَلَفَ
fakhalafa
Then succeeded
مِنۢ
min
after them
بَعْدِهِمْ
baʿdihim
after them
خَلْفٌ
khalfun
successors
أَضَاعُوا۟
aḍāʿū
who neglected
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
l-ṣalata
the prayer
وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟
wa-ittabaʿū
and they followed
ٱلشَّهَوَٰتِ
l-shahawāti
the lusts
فَسَوْفَ
fasawfa
so soon
يَلْقَوْنَ
yalqawna
they will meet
غَيًّا
ghayyan
evil
But there came after them successors [i.e., later generations] who neglected prayer and pursued desires; so they are going to meet evil1 -

19:60
Ayah 19:60
إِلَّا مَن تَابَ وَءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَـٰلِحًا فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ يَدْخُلُونَ ٱلْجَنَّةَ وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ شَيْـًٔا
إِلَّا
illā
Except
مَن
man
(one) who
تَابَ
tāba
repented
وَءَامَنَ
waāmana
and believed
وَعَمِلَ
waʿamila
and did
صَـٰلِحًا
ṣāliḥan
good (deeds)
فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
fa-ulāika
Then those
يَدْخُلُونَ
yadkhulūna
will enter
ٱلْجَنَّةَ
l-janata
Paradise
وَلَا
walā
and not
يُظْلَمُونَ
yuẓ'lamūna
they will be wronged
شَيْـًٔا
shayan
(in) anything
Except those who repent, believe and do righteousness; for those will enter Paradise and will not be wronged at all.

19:61
Ayah 19:61
جَنَّـٰتِ عَدْنٍ ٱلَّتِى وَعَدَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ عِبَادَهُۥ بِٱلْغَيْبِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ وَعْدُهُۥ مَأْتِيًّا
جَنَّـٰتِ
jannāti
Gardens
عَدْنٍ
ʿadnin
(of) Eden
ٱلَّتِى
allatī
which
وَعَدَ
waʿada
promised
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ
l-raḥmānu
the Most Gracious
عِبَادَهُۥ
ʿibādahu
(to) His slaves
بِٱلْغَيْبِ
bil-ghaybi
in the unseen
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, [it]
كَانَ
kāna
is
وَعْدُهُۥ
waʿduhu
His promise
مَأْتِيًّا
matiyyan
sure to come
[Therein are] gardens of perpetual residence which the Most Merciful has promised His servants in the unseen. Indeed, His promise has ever been eminent.1

19:62
Ayah 19:62
لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا إِلَّا سَلَـٰمًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ رِزْقُهُمْ فِيهَا بُكْرَةً وَعَشِيًّا
لَّا
Not
يَسْمَعُونَ
yasmaʿūna
they will hear
فِيهَا
fīhā
therein
لَغْوًا
laghwan
vain talk
إِلَّا
illā
but
سَلَـٰمًا
salāman
peace
وَلَهُمْ
walahum
And for them
رِزْقُهُمْ
riz'quhum
(is) their provision
فِيهَا
fīhā
therein
بُكْرَةً
buk'ratan
morning
وَعَشِيًّا
waʿashiyyan
and evening
They will not hear therein any ill speech - only [greetings of] peace - and they will have their provision therein, morning and afternoon.

19:63
Ayah 19:63
تِلْكَ ٱلْجَنَّةُ ٱلَّتِى نُورِثُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا مَن كَانَ تَقِيًّا
تِلْكَ
til'ka
This
ٱلْجَنَّةُ
l-janatu
(is) Paradise
ٱلَّتِى
allatī
which
نُورِثُ
nūrithu
We give (as) inheritance
مِنْ
min
[of] (to)
عِبَادِنَا
ʿibādinā
Our slaves
مَن
man
(the one) who
كَانَ
kāna
is
تَقِيًّا
taqiyyan
righteous
That is Paradise, which We give as inheritance to those of Our servants who were fearing of Allāh.

19:64
Ayah 19:64
وَمَا نَتَنَزَّلُ إِلَّا بِأَمْرِ رَبِّكَ ۖ لَهُۥ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِينَا وَمَا خَلْفَنَا وَمَا بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ ۚ وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ نَسِيًّا
وَمَا
wamā
And not
نَتَنَزَّلُ
natanazzalu
we descend
إِلَّا
illā
except
بِأَمْرِ
bi-amri
by (the) Command
رَبِّكَ
rabbika
(of) your Lord
لَهُۥ
lahu
To Him (belongs)
مَا
what
بَيْنَ
bayna
(is) before us
أَيْدِينَا
aydīnā
(is) before us
وَمَا
wamā
and what
خَلْفَنَا
khalfanā
(is) behind us
وَمَا
wamā
and what
بَيْنَ
bayna
(is) between
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
that
وَمَا
wamā
And not
كَانَ
kāna
is
رَبُّكَ
rabbuka
your Lord
نَسِيًّا
nasiyyan
forgetful
[Gabriel said],1 "And we [angels] descend not except by the order of your Lord. To Him belongs that before us and that behind us and what is in between. And never is your Lord forgetful -

19:65
Ayah 19:65
رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فَٱعْبُدْهُ وَٱصْطَبِرْ لِعِبَـٰدَتِهِۦ ۚ هَلْ تَعْلَمُ لَهُۥ سَمِيًّا
رَّبُّ
rabbu
Lord
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti
(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
wal-arḍi
and the earth
وَمَا
wamā
and whatever
بَيْنَهُمَا
baynahumā
(is) between both of them
فَٱعْبُدْهُ
fa-uʿ'bud'hu
so worship Him
وَٱصْطَبِرْ
wa-iṣ'ṭabir
and be constant
لِعِبَـٰدَتِهِۦ
liʿibādatihi
in His worship
هَلْ
hal
Do
تَعْلَمُ
taʿlamu
you know
لَهُۥ
lahu
for Him
سَمِيًّا
samiyyan
any similarity
Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them - so worship Him and have patience for His worship. Do you know of any similarity to Him?"

19:66
Ayah 19:66
وَيَقُولُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَءِذَا مَا مِتُّ لَسَوْفَ أُخْرَجُ حَيًّا
وَيَقُولُ
wayaqūlu
And says
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ
l-insānu
[the] man
أَءِذَا
a-idhā
What! When
مَا
What! When
مِتُّ
mittu
I am dead
لَسَوْفَ
lasawfa
surely will
أُخْرَجُ
ukh'raju
I be brought forth
حَيًّا
ḥayyan
alive
And man [i.e., the disbeliever] says, "When I have died, am I going to be brought forth alive?"

19:67
Ayah 19:67
أَوَلَا يَذْكُرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُ مِن قَبْلُ وَلَمْ يَكُ شَيْـًٔا
أَوَلَا
awalā
Does not
يَذْكُرُ
yadhkuru
remember
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ
l-insānu
[the] man
أَنَّا
annā
that We
خَلَقْنَـٰهُ
khalaqnāhu
We created him
مِن
min
before
قَبْلُ
qablu
before
وَلَمْ
walam
while not
يَكُ
yaku
he was
شَيْـًٔا
shayan
anything
Does man not remember that We created him before, while he was nothing?

19:68
Ayah 19:68
فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَحْشُرَنَّهُمْ وَٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَ ثُمَّ لَنُحْضِرَنَّهُمْ حَوْلَ جَهَنَّمَ جِثِيًّا
فَوَرَبِّكَ
fawarabbika
So by your Lord
لَنَحْشُرَنَّهُمْ
lanaḥshurannahum
surely, We will gather them
وَٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَ
wal-shayāṭīna
and the devils
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
لَنُحْضِرَنَّهُمْ
lanuḥ'ḍirannahum
surely, We will bring them
حَوْلَ
ḥawla
around
جَهَنَّمَ
jahannama
Hell
جِثِيًّا
jithiyyan
bent (on) knees
So by your Lord, We will surely gather them and the devils; then We will bring them to be present around Hell upon their knees.1

19:69
Ayah 19:69
ثُمَّ لَنَنزِعَنَّ مِن كُلِّ شِيعَةٍ أَيُّهُمْ أَشَدُّ عَلَى ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ عِتِيًّا
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
لَنَنزِعَنَّ
lananziʿanna
surely, We will drag out
مِن
min
from
كُلِّ
kulli
every
شِيعَةٍ
shīʿatin
sect
أَيُّهُمْ
ayyuhum
those of them
أَشَدُّ
ashaddu
(who were) worst
عَلَى
ʿalā
against
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
l-raḥmāni
the Most Gracious
عِتِيًّا
ʿitiyyan
(in) rebellion
Then We will surely extract from every sect those of them who were worst against the Most Merciful in insolence.

19:70
Ayah 19:70
ثُمَّ لَنَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ أَوْلَىٰ بِهَا صِلِيًّا
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
لَنَحْنُ
lanaḥnu
surely, We
أَعْلَمُ
aʿlamu
know best
بِٱلَّذِينَ
bi-alladhīna
[of] those who
هُمْ
hum
[they]
أَوْلَىٰ
awlā
(are) most worthy
بِهَا
bihā
therein
صِلِيًّا
ṣiliyyan
(of) being burnt
Then, surely it is We who are most knowing of those most worthy of burning therein.

19:71
Ayah 19:71
وَإِن مِّنكُمْ إِلَّا وَارِدُهَا ۚ كَانَ عَلَىٰ رَبِّكَ حَتْمًا مَّقْضِيًّا
وَإِن
wa-in
And (there is) not
مِّنكُمْ
minkum
(any) of you
إِلَّا
illā
but
وَارِدُهَا
wāriduhā
(will be) passing over it
كَانَ
kāna
(This) is
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
upon
رَبِّكَ
rabbika
your Lord
حَتْمًا
ḥatman
an inevitability
مَّقْضِيًّا
maqḍiyyan
decreed
And there is none of you except he will come to it.1 This is upon your Lord an inevitability decreed.

19:72
Ayah 19:72
ثُمَّ نُنَجِّى ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوا۟ وَّنَذَرُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ فِيهَا جِثِيًّا
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
نُنَجِّى
nunajjī
We will deliver
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
ٱتَّقَوا۟
ittaqaw
feared (Allah)
وَّنَذَرُ
wanadharu
and We will leave
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīna
the wrongdoers
فِيهَا
fīhā
therein
جِثِيًّا
jithiyyan
bent (on) knees
Then We will save those who feared Allāh and leave the wrongdoers within it, on their knees.

19:73
Ayah 19:73
وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَـٰتُنَا بَيِّنَـٰتٍ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَىُّ ٱلْفَرِيقَيْنِ خَيْرٌ مَّقَامًا وَأَحْسَنُ نَدِيًّا
وَإِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
تُتْلَىٰ
tut'lā
are recited
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
to them
ءَايَـٰتُنَا
āyātunā
Our Verses
بَيِّنَـٰتٍ
bayyinātin
clear
قَالَ
qāla
say
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieved
لِلَّذِينَ
lilladhīna
to those who
ءَامَنُوٓا۟
āmanū
believed
أَىُّ
ayyu
Which
ٱلْفَرِيقَيْنِ
l-farīqayni
(of) the two groups
خَيْرٌ
khayrun
(is) better
مَّقَامًا
maqāman
(in) position
وَأَحْسَنُ
wa-aḥsanu
and best
نَدِيًّا
nadiyyan
(in) assembly
And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Which of [our] two parties is best in position and best in association?"1

19:74
Ayah 19:74
وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّن قَرْنٍ هُمْ أَحْسَنُ أَثَـٰثًا وَرِءْيًا
وَكَمْ
wakam
And how many
أَهْلَكْنَا
ahlaknā
We destroyed
قَبْلَهُم
qablahum
before them
مِّن
min
of
قَرْنٍ
qarnin
a generation
هُمْ
hum
they
أَحْسَنُ
aḥsanu
(were) better
أَثَـٰثًا
athāthan
(in) possessions
وَرِءْيًا
wari'yan
and appearance
And how many a generation have We destroyed before them who were better in possessions and [outward] appearance?

19:75
Ayah 19:75
قُلْ مَن كَانَ فِى ٱلضَّلَـٰلَةِ فَلْيَمْدُدْ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ مَدًّا ۚ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا رَأَوْا۟ مَا يُوعَدُونَ إِمَّا ٱلْعَذَابَ وَإِمَّا ٱلسَّاعَةَ فَسَيَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ هُوَ شَرٌّ مَّكَانًا وَأَضْعَفُ جُندًا
قُلْ
qul
Say
مَن
man
Whoever
كَانَ
kāna
is
فِى
in
ٱلضَّلَـٰلَةِ
l-ḍalālati
[the] error
فَلْيَمْدُدْ
falyamdud
then surely will extend
لَهُ
lahu
for him
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ
l-raḥmānu
the Most Gracious
مَدًّا
maddan
an extension
حَتَّىٰٓ
ḥattā
until
إِذَا
idhā
when
رَأَوْا۟
ra-aw
they see
مَا
what
يُوعَدُونَ
yūʿadūna
they were promised
إِمَّا
immā
either
ٱلْعَذَابَ
l-ʿadhāba
the punishment
وَإِمَّا
wa-immā
or
ٱلسَّاعَةَ
l-sāʿata
the Hour
فَسَيَعْلَمُونَ
fasayaʿlamūna
then they will know
مَنْ
man
who
هُوَ
huwa
[he]
شَرٌّ
sharrun
(is) worst
مَّكَانًا
makānan
(in) position
وَأَضْعَفُ
wa-aḍʿafu
and weaker
جُندًا
jundan
(in) forces
Say, "Whoever is in error - let the Most Merciful extend for him an extension [in wealth and time] until, when they see that which they were promised - either punishment [in this world] or the Hour [of resurrection] - they will come to know who is worst in position and weaker in soldiers."

19:76
Ayah 19:76
وَيَزِيدُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱهْتَدَوْا۟ هُدًى ۗ وَٱلْبَـٰقِيَـٰتُ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتُ خَيْرٌ عِندَ رَبِّكَ ثَوَابًا وَخَيْرٌ مَّرَدًّا
وَيَزِيدُ
wayazīdu
And Allah increases
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
And Allah increases
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
ٱهْتَدَوْا۟
ih'tadaw
accept guidance
هُدًى
hudan
(in) guidance
وَٱلْبَـٰقِيَـٰتُ
wal-bāqiyātu
And the everlasting
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتُ
l-ṣāliḥātu
good deeds
خَيْرٌ
khayrun
(are) better
عِندَ
ʿinda
near
رَبِّكَ
rabbika
your Lord
ثَوَابًا
thawāban
(for) reward
وَخَيْرٌ
wakhayrun
and better
مَّرَدًّا
maraddan
(for) return
And Allāh increases those who were guided, in guidance, and the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord1 for reward and better for recourse.

19:77
Ayah 19:77
أَفَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى كَفَرَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا وَقَالَ لَأُوتَيَنَّ مَالًا وَوَلَدًا
أَفَرَءَيْتَ
afara-ayta
Then, have you seen
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
he who
كَفَرَ
kafara
disbelieved
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا
biāyātinā
in Our Verses
وَقَالَ
waqāla
and said
لَأُوتَيَنَّ
laūtayanna
Surely, I will be given
مَالًا
mālan
wealth
وَوَلَدًا
wawaladan
and children
Then, have you seen he who disbelieved in Our verses and said, "I will surely be given wealth and children [in the next life]"?

19:78
Ayah 19:78
أَطَّلَعَ ٱلْغَيْبَ أَمِ ٱتَّخَذَ عِندَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ عَهْدًا
أَطَّلَعَ
aṭṭalaʿa
Has he looked
ٱلْغَيْبَ
l-ghayba
(into) the unseen
أَمِ
ami
or
ٱتَّخَذَ
ittakhadha
has he taken
عِندَ
ʿinda
from
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
l-raḥmāni
the Most Gracious
عَهْدًا
ʿahdan
a promise
Has he looked into the unseen, or has he taken from the Most Merciful a promise?

19:79
Ayah 19:79
كَلَّا ۚ سَنَكْتُبُ مَا يَقُولُ وَنَمُدُّ لَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ مَدًّا
كَلَّا
kallā
Nay
سَنَكْتُبُ
sanaktubu
We will record
مَا
what
يَقُولُ
yaqūlu
he says
وَنَمُدُّ
wanamuddu
and We will extend
لَهُۥ
lahu
for him
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلْعَذَابِ
l-ʿadhābi
the punishment
مَدًّا
maddan
extensively
No! We will record what he says and extend [i.e., increase] for him from the punishment extensively.

19:80
Ayah 19:80
وَنَرِثُهُۥ مَا يَقُولُ وَيَأْتِينَا فَرْدًا
وَنَرِثُهُۥ
wanarithuhu
And We will inherit (from) him
مَا
what
يَقُولُ
yaqūlu
he says
وَيَأْتِينَا
wayatīnā
and he will come to Us
فَرْدًا
fardan
alone
And We will inherit him [in] what he mentions,1 and he will come to Us alone.

19:81
Ayah 19:81
وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ءَالِهَةً لِّيَكُونُوا۟ لَهُمْ عِزًّا
وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟
wa-ittakhadhū
And they have taken
مِن
min
besides Allah
دُونِ
dūni
besides Allah
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
besides Allah
ءَالِهَةً
ālihatan
gods
لِّيَكُونُوا۟
liyakūnū
that they may be
لَهُمْ
lahum
for them
عِزًّا
ʿizzan
an honor
And they have taken besides Allāh [false] deities that they would be for them [a source of] honor.

19:82
Ayah 19:82
كَلَّا ۚ سَيَكْفُرُونَ بِعِبَادَتِهِمْ وَيَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضِدًّا
كَلَّا
kallā
Nay
سَيَكْفُرُونَ
sayakfurūna
they will deny
بِعِبَادَتِهِمْ
biʿibādatihim
their worship (of them)
وَيَكُونُونَ
wayakūnūna
and they will be
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
against them
ضِدًّا
ḍiddan
opponents
No! They [i.e., those "gods"] will deny their worship of them and will be against them opponents [on the Day of Judgement].

19:83
Ayah 19:83
أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَ عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ تَؤُزُّهُمْ أَزًّا
أَلَمْ
alam
Do not
تَرَ
tara
you see
أَنَّآ
annā
that We
أَرْسَلْنَا
arsalnā
[We] have sent
ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَ
l-shayāṭīna
the devils
عَلَى
ʿalā
upon
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
l-kāfirīna
the disbelievers
تَؤُزُّهُمْ
ta-uzzuhum
inciting them
أَزًّا
azzan
(with) incitement
Do you not see that We have sent the devils upon the disbelievers, inciting them [to evil] with [constant] incitement?

19:84
Ayah 19:84
فَلَا تَعْجَلْ عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ إِنَّمَا نَعُدُّ لَهُمْ عَدًّا
فَلَا
falā
So (do) not
تَعْجَلْ
taʿjal
make haste
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
against them
إِنَّمَا
innamā
Only
نَعُدُّ
naʿuddu
We count
لَهُمْ
lahum
for them
عَدًّا
ʿaddan
a number
So be not impatient over them. We only count out [i.e., allow] to them a [limited] number.1

19:85
Ayah 19:85
يَوْمَ نَحْشُرُ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ إِلَى ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ وَفْدًا
يَوْمَ
yawma
(The) Day
نَحْشُرُ
naḥshuru
We will gather
ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
l-mutaqīna
the righteous
إِلَى
ilā
to
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
l-raḥmāni
the Most Gracious
وَفْدًا
wafdan
(as) a delegation
On the Day We will gather the righteous to the Most Merciful as a delegation

19:86
Ayah 19:86
وَنَسُوقُ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ وِرْدًا
وَنَسُوقُ
wanasūqu
And We will drive
ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
l-muj'rimīna
the criminals
إِلَىٰ
ilā
to
جَهَنَّمَ
jahannama
Hell
وِرْدًا
wir'dan
thirsty
And will drive the criminals to Hell in thirst

19:87
Ayah 19:87
لَّا يَمْلِكُونَ ٱلشَّفَـٰعَةَ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱتَّخَذَ عِندَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ عَهْدًا
لَّا
Not
يَمْلِكُونَ
yamlikūna
they will have the power
ٱلشَّفَـٰعَةَ
l-shafāʿata
(of) the intercession
إِلَّا
illā
except
مَنِ
mani
(he) who
ٱتَّخَذَ
ittakhadha
has taken
عِندَ
ʿinda
from
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
l-raḥmāni
the Most Gracious
عَهْدًا
ʿahdan
a covenant
None will have [power of] intercession except he who had taken from the Most Merciful a covenant.1

19:88
Ayah 19:88
وَقَالُوا۟ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَلَدًا
وَقَالُوا۟
waqālū
And they say
ٱتَّخَذَ
ittakhadha
Has taken
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ
l-raḥmānu
the Most Gracious
وَلَدًا
waladan
a son
And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken [for Himself] a son."

19:89
Ayah 19:89
لَّقَدْ جِئْتُمْ شَيْـًٔا إِدًّا
لَّقَدْ
laqad
Verily
جِئْتُمْ
ji'tum
you have put forth
شَيْـًٔا
shayan
a thing
إِدًّا
iddan
atrocious
You have done an atrocious thing.

19:90
Ayah 19:90
تَكَادُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتُ يَتَفَطَّرْنَ مِنْهُ وَتَنشَقُّ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَتَخِرُّ ٱلْجِبَالُ هَدًّا
تَكَادُ
takādu
Almost
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتُ
l-samāwātu
the heavens
يَتَفَطَّرْنَ
yatafaṭṭarna
get torn
مِنْهُ
min'hu
therefrom
وَتَنشَقُّ
watanshaqqu
and splits asunder
ٱلْأَرْضُ
l-arḍu
the earth
وَتَخِرُّ
watakhirru
and collapse
ٱلْجِبَالُ
l-jibālu
the mountain
هَدًّا
haddan
(in) devastation
The heavens almost rupture therefrom and the earth splits open and the mountains collapse in devastation

19:91
Ayah 19:91
أَن دَعَوْا۟ لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ وَلَدًا
أَن
an
That
دَعَوْا۟
daʿaw
they invoke
لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
lilrraḥmāni
to the Most Gracious
وَلَدًا
waladan
a son
That they attribute to the Most Merciful a son.

19:92
Ayah 19:92
وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ أَن يَتَّخِذَ وَلَدًا
وَمَا
wamā
And not
يَنۢبَغِى
yanbaghī
is appropriate
لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
lilrraḥmāni
for the Most Gracious
أَن
an
that
يَتَّخِذَ
yattakhidha
He should take
وَلَدًا
waladan
a son
And it is not appropriate for the Most Merciful that He should take a son.

19:93
Ayah 19:93
إِن كُلُّ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ إِلَّآ ءَاتِى ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ عَبْدًا
إِن
in
Not
كُلُّ
kullu
all
مَن
man
who
فِى
(are) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
wal-arḍi
and the earth
إِلَّآ
illā
but
ءَاتِى
ātī
(will) come
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
l-raḥmāni
(to) the Most Gracious
عَبْدًا
ʿabdan
(as) a slave
There is no one in the heavens and earth but that he comes to the Most Merciful as a servant.

19:94
Ayah 19:94
لَّقَدْ أَحْصَىٰهُمْ وَعَدَّهُمْ عَدًّا
لَّقَدْ
laqad
Verily
أَحْصَىٰهُمْ
aḥṣāhum
He has enumerated them
وَعَدَّهُمْ
waʿaddahum
and counted them
عَدًّا
ʿaddan
a counting
He has enumerated them and counted them a [full] counting.

19:95
Ayah 19:95
وَكُلُّهُمْ ءَاتِيهِ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ فَرْدًا
وَكُلُّهُمْ
wakulluhum
And all of them
ءَاتِيهِ
ātīhi
(will) come (to) Him
يَوْمَ
yawma
(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ
l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
فَرْدًا
fardan
alone
And all of them are coming to Him on the Day of Resurrection alone.

19:96
Ayah 19:96
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ سَيَجْعَلُ لَهُمُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وُدًّا
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanū
believed
وَعَمِلُوا۟
waʿamilū
and did
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ
l-ṣāliḥāti
good deeds
سَيَجْعَلُ
sayajʿalu
will bestow
لَهُمُ
lahumu
for them
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ
l-raḥmānu
the Most Gracious
وُدًّا
wuddan
affection
Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds - the Most Merciful will appoint for them affection.1

19:97
Ayah 19:97
فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَـٰهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لِتُبَشِّرَ بِهِ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ وَتُنذِرَ بِهِۦ قَوْمًا لُّدًّا
فَإِنَّمَا
fa-innamā
So, only
يَسَّرْنَـٰهُ
yassarnāhu
We (have) made it easy
بِلِسَانِكَ
bilisānika
in your tongue
لِتُبَشِّرَ
litubashira
that you may give glad tidings
بِهِ
bihi
with it
ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
l-mutaqīna
(to) the righteous
وَتُنذِرَ
watundhira
and warn
بِهِۦ
bihi
with it
قَوْمًا
qawman
a people
لُّدًّا
luddan
hostile
So, [O Muḥammad], We have only made it [i.e., the Qur’ān] easy in your tongue [i.e., the Arabic language] that you may give good tidings thereby to the righteous and warn thereby a hostile people.

19:98
Ayah 19:98
وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّن قَرْنٍ هَلْ تُحِسُّ مِنْهُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ أَوْ تَسْمَعُ لَهُمْ رِكْزًۢا
وَكَمْ
wakam
And how many
أَهْلَكْنَا
ahlaknā
We (have) destroyed
قَبْلَهُم
qablahum
before them
مِّن
min
of
قَرْنٍ
qarnin
a generation
هَلْ
hal
Can
تُحِسُّ
tuḥissu
you perceive
مِنْهُم
min'hum
of them
مِّنْ
min
any
أَحَدٍ
aḥadin
one
أَوْ
aw
or
تَسْمَعُ
tasmaʿu
hear
لَهُمْ
lahum
from them
رِكْزًۢا
rik'zan
a sound
And how many have We destroyed before them of generations? Do you perceive of them anyone or hear from them a sound?
