21:1
Ayah 21:1
ٱقْتَرَبَ لِلنَّاسِ حِسَابُهُمْ وَهُمْ فِى غَفْلَةٍ مُّعْرِضُونَ
ٱقْتَرَبَ
iq'taraba
(Has) approached
لِلنَّاسِ
lilnnāsi
for [the] mankind
حِسَابُهُمْ
ḥisābuhum
their account
وَهُمْ
wahum
while they
فِى
(are) in
غَفْلَةٍ
ghaflatin
heedlessness
مُّعْرِضُونَ
muʿ'riḍūna
turning away
[The time of] their account has approached for the people, while they are in heedlessness turning away.

21:2
Ayah 21:2
مَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍ مِّن رَّبِّهِم مُّحْدَثٍ إِلَّا ٱسْتَمَعُوهُ وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَ
مَا
Not
يَأْتِيهِم
yatīhim
comes to them
مِّن
min
of
ذِكْرٍ
dhik'rin
a Reminder
مِّن
min
from
رَّبِّهِم
rabbihim
their Lord
مُّحْدَثٍ
muḥ'dathin
anew
إِلَّا
illā
except
ٱسْتَمَعُوهُ
is'tamaʿūhu
they listen to it
وَهُمْ
wahum
while they
يَلْعَبُونَ
yalʿabūna
(are at) play
No mention [i.e., revelation] comes to them anew from their Lord except that they listen to it while they are at play

21:3
Ayah 21:3
لَاهِيَةً قُلُوبُهُمْ ۗ وَأَسَرُّوا۟ ٱلنَّجْوَى ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ هَلْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ ۖ أَفَتَأْتُونَ ٱلسِّحْرَ وَأَنتُمْ تُبْصِرُونَ
لَاهِيَةً
lāhiyatan
Distracted
قُلُوبُهُمْ
qulūbuhum
their hearts
وَأَسَرُّوا۟
wa-asarrū
And they conceal
ٱلنَّجْوَى
l-najwā
the private conversation
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
ظَلَمُوا۟
ẓalamū
[they] wronged
هَلْ
hal
Is
هَـٰذَآ
hādhā
this
إِلَّا
illā
except
بَشَرٌ
basharun
a human being
مِّثْلُكُمْ
mith'lukum
like you
أَفَتَأْتُونَ
afatatūna
So would you approach
ٱلسِّحْرَ
l-siḥ'ra
the magic
وَأَنتُمْ
wa-antum
while you
تُبْصِرُونَ
tub'ṣirūna
see (it)
With their hearts distracted. And those who do wrong conceal their private conversation, [saying], "Is this [Prophet] except a human being like you? So would you approach magic while you are aware [of it]?"

21:4
Ayah 21:4
قَالَ رَبِّى يَعْلَمُ ٱلْقَوْلَ فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
قَالَ
qāla
He said
رَبِّى
rabbī
My Lord
يَعْلَمُ
yaʿlamu
knows
ٱلْقَوْلَ
l-qawla
the word
فِى
in
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāi
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
wal-arḍi
and the earth
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
And He
ٱلسَّمِيعُ
l-samīʿu
(is) the All-Hearer
ٱلْعَلِيمُ
l-ʿalīmu
the All-Knower
He [the Prophet (ﷺ)] said, "My Lord knows whatever is said throughout the heaven and earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing."

21:5
Ayah 21:5
بَلْ قَالُوٓا۟ أَضْغَـٰثُ أَحْلَـٰمٍۭ بَلِ ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ بَلْ هُوَ شَاعِرٌ فَلْيَأْتِنَا بِـَٔايَةٍ كَمَآ أُرْسِلَ ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
بَلْ
bal
Nay
قَالُوٓا۟
qālū
they say
أَضْغَـٰثُ
aḍghāthu
Muddled
أَحْلَـٰمٍۭ
aḥlāmin
dreams
بَلِ
bali
nay
ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ
if'tarāhu
he (has) invented it
بَلْ
bal
nay
هُوَ
huwa
he
شَاعِرٌ
shāʿirun
(is) a poet
فَلْيَأْتِنَا
falyatinā
So let him bring us
بِـَٔايَةٍ
biāyatin
a sign
كَمَآ
kamā
like what
أُرْسِلَ
ur'sila
was sent
ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
l-awalūna
(to) the former
But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]."

21:6
Ayah 21:6
مَآ ءَامَنَتْ قَبْلَهُم مِّن قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْنَـٰهَآ ۖ أَفَهُمْ يُؤْمِنُونَ
مَآ
Not
ءَامَنَتْ
āmanat
believed
قَبْلَهُم
qablahum
before them
مِّن
min
any
قَرْيَةٍ
qaryatin
town
أَهْلَكْنَـٰهَآ
ahlaknāhā
which We destroyed
أَفَهُمْ
afahum
so will they
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūna
believe
Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them,1 so will they believe?

21:7
Ayah 21:7
وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ إِلَّا رِجَالًا نُّوحِىٓ إِلَيْهِمْ ۖ فَسْـَٔلُوٓا۟ أَهْلَ ٱلذِّكْرِ إِن كُنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
وَمَآ
wamā
And not
أَرْسَلْنَا
arsalnā
We sent
قَبْلَكَ
qablaka
before you
إِلَّا
illā
except
رِجَالًا
rijālan
men
نُّوحِىٓ
nūḥī
We revealed
إِلَيْهِمْ
ilayhim
to them
فَسْـَٔلُوٓا۟
fasalū
So ask
أَهْلَ
ahla
(the) people
ٱلذِّكْرِ
l-dhik'ri
(of) the Reminder
إِن
in
if
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you
لَا
(do) not
تَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūna
know
And We sent not before you, [O Muḥammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message [i.e., former scriptures] if you do not know.

21:8
Ayah 21:8
وَمَا جَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ جَسَدًا لَّا يَأْكُلُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ خَـٰلِدِينَ
وَمَا
wamā
And not
جَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ
jaʿalnāhum
We made them
جَسَدًا
jasadan
bodies
لَّا
not
يَأْكُلُونَ
yakulūna
eating
ٱلطَّعَامَ
l-ṭaʿāma
the food
وَمَا
wamā
and not
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they were
خَـٰلِدِينَ
khālidīna
immortals
And We did not make them [i.e., the prophets] forms not eating food,1 nor were they immortal [on earth].

21:9
Ayah 21:9
ثُمَّ صَدَقْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْوَعْدَ فَأَنجَيْنَـٰهُمْ وَمَن نَّشَآءُ وَأَهْلَكْنَا ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
صَدَقْنَـٰهُمُ
ṣadaqnāhumu
We fulfilled (for) them
ٱلْوَعْدَ
l-waʿda
the promise
فَأَنجَيْنَـٰهُمْ
fa-anjaynāhum
and We saved them
وَمَن
waman
and whom
نَّشَآءُ
nashāu
We willed
وَأَهْلَكْنَا
wa-ahlaknā
and We destroyed
ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ
l-mus'rifīna
the transgressors
Then1 We fulfilled for them the promise, and We saved them and whom We willed and destroyed the transgressors.

21:10
Ayah 21:10
لَقَدْ أَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكُمْ كِتَـٰبًا فِيهِ ذِكْرُكُمْ ۖ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
لَقَدْ
laqad
Indeed
أَنزَلْنَآ
anzalnā
We (have) sent down
إِلَيْكُمْ
ilaykum
to you
كِتَـٰبًا
kitāban
a Book
فِيهِ
fīhi
in it
ذِكْرُكُمْ
dhik'rukum
(is) your mention
أَفَلَا
afalā
Then will not
تَعْقِلُونَ
taʿqilūna
you use reason
We have certainly sent down to you a Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] in which is your mention.1 Then will you not reason?

21:11
Ayah 21:11
وَكَمْ قَصَمْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ كَانَتْ ظَالِمَةً وَأَنشَأْنَا بَعْدَهَا قَوْمًا ءَاخَرِينَ
وَكَمْ
wakam
And how many
قَصَمْنَا
qaṣamnā
We (have) shattered
مِن
min
of
قَرْيَةٍ
qaryatin
a town
كَانَتْ
kānat
(that) was
ظَالِمَةً
ẓālimatan
unjust
وَأَنشَأْنَا
wa-anshanā
and We produced
بَعْدَهَا
baʿdahā
after them
قَوْمًا
qawman
another people
ءَاخَرِينَ
ākharīna
another people
And how many a city which was unjust1 have We shattered and produced after it another people.

21:12
Ayah 21:12
فَلَمَّآ أَحَسُّوا۟ بَأْسَنَآ إِذَا هُم مِّنْهَا يَرْكُضُونَ
فَلَمَّآ
falammā
Then when
أَحَسُّوا۟
aḥassū
they perceived
بَأْسَنَآ
basanā
Our torment
إِذَا
idhā
behold
هُم
hum
they
مِّنْهَا
min'hā
from it
يَرْكُضُونَ
yarkuḍūna
were fleeing
And when they [i.e., its inhabitants] perceived Our punishment, at once they fled from it.

21:13
Ayah 21:13
لَا تَرْكُضُوا۟ وَٱرْجِعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَآ أُتْرِفْتُمْ فِيهِ وَمَسَـٰكِنِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُسْـَٔلُونَ
لَا
Flee not
تَرْكُضُوا۟
tarkuḍū
Flee not
وَٱرْجِعُوٓا۟
wa-ir'jiʿū
but return
إِلَىٰ
ilā
to
مَآ
what
أُتْرِفْتُمْ
ut'rif'tum
you were given luxury
فِيهِ
fīhi
in it
وَمَسَـٰكِنِكُمْ
wamasākinikum
and to your homes
لَعَلَّكُمْ
laʿallakum
so that you may
تُسْـَٔلُونَ
tus'alūna
be questioned
[Some angels said], "Do not flee but return to where you were given luxury and to your homes - perhaps you will be questioned."1

21:14
Ayah 21:14
قَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ
قَالُوا۟
qālū
They said
يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ
yāwaylanā
O woe to us
إِنَّا
innā
Indeed, [we]
كُنَّا
kunnā
we were
ظَـٰلِمِينَ
ẓālimīna
wrongdoers
They said, "O woe to us! Indeed, we were wrongdoers."

21:15
Ayah 21:15
فَمَا زَالَت تِّلْكَ دَعْوَىٰهُمْ حَتَّىٰ جَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ حَصِيدًا خَـٰمِدِينَ
فَمَا
famā
Then not
زَالَت
zālat
ceased
تِّلْكَ
til'ka
[this]
دَعْوَىٰهُمْ
daʿwāhum
their cry
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattā
until
جَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ
jaʿalnāhum
We made them
حَصِيدًا
ḥaṣīdan
reaped
خَـٰمِدِينَ
khāmidīna
extinct
And that declaration of theirs did not cease until We made them [as] a harvest [mowed down], extinguished [like a fire].

21:16
Ayah 21:16
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَـٰعِبِينَ
وَمَا
wamā
And not
خَلَقْنَا
khalaqnā
We created
ٱلسَّمَآءَ
l-samāa
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَ
wal-arḍa
and the earth
وَمَا
wamā
and what
بَيْنَهُمَا
baynahumā
(is) between them
لَـٰعِبِينَ
lāʿibīna
(for) playing
And We did not create the heaven and earth and that between them in play.

21:17
Ayah 21:17
لَوْ أَرَدْنَآ أَن نَّتَّخِذَ لَهْوًا لَّٱتَّخَذْنَـٰهُ مِن لَّدُنَّآ إِن كُنَّا فَـٰعِلِينَ
لَوْ
law
If
أَرَدْنَآ
aradnā
We intended
أَن
an
that
نَّتَّخِذَ
nattakhidha
We take
لَهْوًا
lahwan
a pastime
لَّٱتَّخَذْنَـٰهُ
la-ittakhadhnāhu
surely We (could have) taken it
مِن
min
from
لَّدُنَّآ
ladunnā
Us
إِن
in
if
كُنَّا
kunnā
We were
فَـٰعِلِينَ
fāʿilīna
doers
Had We intended to take a diversion,1 We could have taken it from [what is] with Us - if [indeed] We were to do so.

21:18
Ayah 21:18
بَلْ نَقْذِفُ بِٱلْحَقِّ عَلَى ٱلْبَـٰطِلِ فَيَدْمَغُهُۥ فَإِذَا هُوَ زَاهِقٌ ۚ وَلَكُمُ ٱلْوَيْلُ مِمَّا تَصِفُونَ
بَلْ
bal
Nay
نَقْذِفُ
naqdhifu
We hurl
بِٱلْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqi
the truth
عَلَى
ʿalā
against
ٱلْبَـٰطِلِ
l-bāṭili
[the] falsehood
فَيَدْمَغُهُۥ
fayadmaghuhu
and it breaks its head
فَإِذَا
fa-idhā
behold
هُوَ
huwa
it (is)
زَاهِقٌ
zāhiqun
vanishing
وَلَكُمُ
walakumu
And for you
ٱلْوَيْلُ
l-waylu
(is) destruction
مِمَّا
mimmā
for what
تَصِفُونَ
taṣifūna
you ascribe
Rather, We dash the truth upon falsehood, and it destroys it,1 and thereupon it departs. And for you is destruction from that which you describe.2

21:19
Ayah 21:19
وَلَهُۥ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَمَنْ عِندَهُۥ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِهِۦ وَلَا يَسْتَحْسِرُونَ
وَلَهُۥ
walahu
And to Him (belongs)
مَن
man
whoever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
wal-arḍi
and the earth
وَمَنْ
waman
And (those) who
عِندَهُۥ
ʿindahu
(are) near Him
لَا
not
يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
yastakbirūna
they are arrogant
عَنْ
ʿan
to
عِبَادَتِهِۦ
ʿibādatihi
worship Him
وَلَا
walā
and not
يَسْتَحْسِرُونَ
yastaḥsirūna
they tire
To Him belongs whoever is in the heavens and the earth. And those near Him [i.e., the angels] are not prevented by arrogance from His worship, nor do they tire.

21:20
Ayah 21:20
يُسَبِّحُونَ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ لَا يَفْتُرُونَ
يُسَبِّحُونَ
yusabbiḥūna
They glorify (Him)
ٱلَّيْلَ
al-layla
[the] night
وَٱلنَّهَارَ
wal-nahāra
and [the] day
لَا
not
يَفْتُرُونَ
yafturūna
they slacken
They exalt [Him] night and day [and] do not slacken.

21:21
Ayah 21:21
أَمِ ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَةً مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ هُمْ يُنشِرُونَ
أَمِ
ami
Or
ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟
ittakhadhū
(have) they taken
ءَالِهَةً
ālihatan
gods
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
هُمْ
hum
they
يُنشِرُونَ
yunshirūna
raise (the dead)
Or have they [i.e., men] taken for themselves gods from the earth who resurrect [the dead]?

21:22
Ayah 21:22
لَوْ كَانَ فِيهِمَآ ءَالِهَةٌ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ لَفَسَدَتَا ۚ فَسُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَرْشِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
لَوْ
law
If
كَانَ
kāna
(there) were
فِيهِمَآ
fīhimā
in both of them
ءَالِهَةٌ
ālihatun
gods
إِلَّا
illā
besides
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
لَفَسَدَتَا
lafasadatā
surely they (would) have been ruined
فَسُبْحَـٰنَ
fasub'ḥāna
So glorified
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(is) Allah
رَبِّ
rabbi
Lord
ٱلْعَرْشِ
l-ʿarshi
(of) the Throne
عَمَّا
ʿammā
(above) what
يَصِفُونَ
yaṣifūna
they attribute
Had there been within them [i.e., the heavens and earth] gods besides Allāh, they both would have been ruined. So exalted is Allāh, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe.

21:23
Ayah 21:23
لَا يُسْـَٔلُ عَمَّا يَفْعَلُ وَهُمْ يُسْـَٔلُونَ
لَا
Not
يُسْـَٔلُ
yus'alu
He (can) be questioned
عَمَّا
ʿammā
about what
يَفْعَلُ
yafʿalu
He does
وَهُمْ
wahum
but they
يُسْـَٔلُونَ
yus'alūna
will be questioned
He is not questioned about what He does, but they will be questioned.

21:24
Ayah 21:24
أَمِ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ ءَالِهَةً ۖ قُلْ هَاتُوا۟ بُرْهَـٰنَكُمْ ۖ هَـٰذَا ذِكْرُ مَن مَّعِىَ وَذِكْرُ مَن قَبْلِى ۗ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ٱلْحَقَّ ۖ فَهُم مُّعْرِضُونَ
أَمِ
ami
Or
ٱتَّخَذُوا۟
ittakhadhū
(have) they taken
مِن
min
besides Him
دُونِهِۦٓ
dūnihi
besides Him
ءَالِهَةً
ālihatan
gods
قُلْ
qul
Say
هَاتُوا۟
hātū
Bring
بُرْهَـٰنَكُمْ
bur'hānakum
your proof
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
This
ذِكْرُ
dhik'ru
(is) a Reminder
مَن
man
(for those) who
مَّعِىَ
maʿiya
(are) with me
وَذِكْرُ
wadhik'ru
and a Reminder
مَن
man
(for those) who
قَبْلِى
qablī
(were) before me
بَلْ
bal
But
أَكْثَرُهُمْ
aktharuhum
most of them
لَا
(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūna
know
ٱلْحَقَّ
l-ḥaqa
the truth
فَهُم
fahum
so they
مُّعْرِضُونَ
muʿ'riḍūna
(are) averse
Or have they taken gods besides Him? Say, [O Muḥammad], "Produce your proof. This [Qur’ān] is the message for those with me and the message of those before me."1 But most of them do not know the truth, so they are turning away.

21:25
Ayah 21:25
وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا نُوحِىٓ إِلَيْهِ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۠ فَٱعْبُدُونِ
وَمَآ
wamā
And not
أَرْسَلْنَا
arsalnā
We sent
مِن
min
before you
قَبْلِكَ
qablika
before you
مِن
min
any
رَّسُولٍ
rasūlin
Messenger
إِلَّا
illā
but
نُوحِىٓ
nūḥī
We reveal(ed)
إِلَيْهِ
ilayhi
to him
أَنَّهُۥ
annahu
that [He]
لَآ
(There is) no
إِلَـٰهَ
ilāha
god
إِلَّآ
illā
except
أَنَا۠
anā
Me
فَٱعْبُدُونِ
fa-uʿ'budūni
so worship Me
And We sent not before you any messenger except We revealed to him that, "There is no deity except Me, so worship Me."

21:26
Ayah 21:26
وَقَالُوا۟ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَلَدًا ۗ سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ ۚ بَلْ عِبَادٌ مُّكْرَمُونَ
وَقَالُوا۟
waqālū
And they say
ٱتَّخَذَ
ittakhadha
Has taken
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ
l-raḥmānu
the Most Gracious
وَلَدًا
waladan
a son
سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ
sub'ḥānahu
Glorified is He
بَلْ
bal
Nay
عِبَادٌ
ʿibādun
(they are) slaves
مُّكْرَمُونَ
muk'ramūna
honored
And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken a son." Exalted is He! Rather, they1 are [but] honored servants.

21:27
Ayah 21:27
لَا يَسْبِقُونَهُۥ بِٱلْقَوْلِ وَهُم بِأَمْرِهِۦ يَعْمَلُونَ
لَا
Not
يَسْبِقُونَهُۥ
yasbiqūnahu
they (can) precede Him
بِٱلْقَوْلِ
bil-qawli
in word
وَهُم
wahum
and they
بِأَمْرِهِۦ
bi-amrihi
by His command
يَعْمَلُونَ
yaʿmalūna
act
They cannot precede Him in word, and they act by His command.

21:28
Ayah 21:28
يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَلَا يَشْفَعُونَ إِلَّا لِمَنِ ٱرْتَضَىٰ وَهُم مِّنْ خَشْيَتِهِۦ مُشْفِقُونَ
يَعْلَمُ
yaʿlamu
He knows
مَا
what
بَيْنَ
bayna
(is) before them
أَيْدِيهِمْ
aydīhim
(is) before them
وَمَا
wamā
and what
خَلْفَهُمْ
khalfahum
(is) behind them
وَلَا
walā
and not
يَشْفَعُونَ
yashfaʿūna
they (can) intercede
إِلَّا
illā
except
لِمَنِ
limani
for whom
ٱرْتَضَىٰ
ir'taḍā
He approves
وَهُم
wahum
And they
مِّنْ
min
from
خَشْيَتِهِۦ
khashyatihi
fear of Him
مُشْفِقُونَ
mush'fiqūna
stand in awe
He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them,1 and they cannot intercede except on behalf of one whom He approves. And they, from fear of Him, are apprehensive.

21:29
Ayah 21:29
۞ وَمَن يَقُلْ مِنْهُمْ إِنِّىٓ إِلَـٰهٌ مِّن دُونِهِۦ فَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِيهِ جَهَنَّمَ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
وَمَن
waman
And whoever
يَقُلْ
yaqul
says
مِنْهُمْ
min'hum
of them
إِنِّىٓ
innī
Indeed, I am
إِلَـٰهٌ
ilāhun
a god
مِّن
min
besides Him
دُونِهِۦ
dūnihi
besides Him
فَذَٰلِكَ
fadhālika
Then that
نَجْزِيهِ
najzīhi
We will recompense
جَهَنَّمَ
jahannama
(with) Hell
كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhālika
Thus
نَجْزِى
najzī
We recompense
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīna
the wrongdoers
And whoever of them should say, "Indeed, I am a god besides Him" - that one We would recompense with Hell. Thus do We recompense the wrongdoers.

21:30
Ayah 21:30
أَوَلَمْ يَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ كَانَتَا رَتْقًا فَفَتَقْنَـٰهُمَا ۖ وَجَعَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمَآءِ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ حَىٍّ ۖ أَفَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
أَوَلَمْ
awalam
Do not
يَرَ
yara
see
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوٓا۟
kafarū
disbelieved
أَنَّ
anna
that
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَ
wal-arḍa
and the earth
كَانَتَا
kānatā
were
رَتْقًا
ratqan
a joined entity
فَفَتَقْنَـٰهُمَا
fafataqnāhumā
then We parted them
وَجَعَلْنَا
wajaʿalnā
and We made
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلْمَآءِ
l-māi
[the] water
كُلَّ
kulla
every
شَىْءٍ
shayin
living thing
حَىٍّ
ḥayyin
living thing
أَفَلَا
afalā
Then will not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūna
they believe
Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and then We separated them and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe?

21:31
Ayah 21:31
وَجَعَلْنَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ رَوَٰسِىَ أَن تَمِيدَ بِهِمْ وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا فِجَاجًا سُبُلًا لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ
وَجَعَلْنَا
wajaʿalnā
And We (have) placed
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
رَوَٰسِىَ
rawāsiya
firmly set mountains
أَن
an
lest
تَمِيدَ
tamīda
it (should) shake
بِهِمْ
bihim
with them
وَجَعَلْنَا
wajaʿalnā
and We made
فِيهَا
fīhā
therein
فِجَاجًا
fijājan
broad passes
سُبُلًا
subulan
(as) ways
لَّعَلَّهُمْ
laʿallahum
so that they may
يَهْتَدُونَ
yahtadūna
(be) guided
And We placed within the earth firmly set mountains, lest it should shift with them, and We made therein [mountain] passes [as] roads that they might be guided.

21:32
Ayah 21:32
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ سَقْفًا مَّحْفُوظًا ۖ وَهُمْ عَنْ ءَايَـٰتِهَا مُعْرِضُونَ
وَجَعَلْنَا
wajaʿalnā
And We made
ٱلسَّمَآءَ
l-samāa
the sky
سَقْفًا
saqfan
a roof
مَّحْفُوظًا
maḥfūẓan
protected
وَهُمْ
wahum
But they
عَنْ
ʿan
from
ءَايَـٰتِهَا
āyātihā
its Signs
مُعْرِضُونَ
muʿ'riḍūna
turn away
And We made the sky a protected ceiling, but they, from its signs,1 are turning away.

21:33
Ayah 21:33
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ وَٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَ ۖ كُلٌّ فِى فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
And He
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
(is) the One Who
خَلَقَ
khalaqa
created
ٱلَّيْلَ
al-layla
the night
وَٱلنَّهَارَ
wal-nahāra
and the day
وَٱلشَّمْسَ
wal-shamsa
and the sun
وَٱلْقَمَرَ
wal-qamara
and the moon
كُلٌّ
kullun
each
فِى
in
فَلَكٍ
falakin
an orbit
يَسْبَحُونَ
yasbaḥūna
floating
And it is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming.

21:34
Ayah 21:34
وَمَا جَعَلْنَا لِبَشَرٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ ٱلْخُلْدَ ۖ أَفَإِي۟ن مِّتَّ فَهُمُ ٱلْخَـٰلِدُونَ
وَمَا
wamā
And not
جَعَلْنَا
jaʿalnā
We made
لِبَشَرٍ
libasharin
for any man
مِّن
min
before you
قَبْلِكَ
qablika
before you
ٱلْخُلْدَ
l-khul'da
[the] immortality
أَفَإِي۟ن
afa-in
so if
مِّتَّ
mitta
you die
فَهُمُ
fahumu
then (would) they
ٱلْخَـٰلِدُونَ
l-khālidūna
live forever
And We did not grant to any man before you eternity [on earth]; so if you die - would they be eternal?

21:35
Ayah 21:35
كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَآئِقَةُ ٱلْمَوْتِ ۗ وَنَبْلُوكُم بِٱلشَّرِّ وَٱلْخَيْرِ فِتْنَةً ۖ وَإِلَيْنَا تُرْجَعُونَ
كُلُّ
kullu
Every
نَفْسٍ
nafsin
soul
ذَآئِقَةُ
dhāiqatu
(will) taste
ٱلْمَوْتِ
l-mawti
[the] death
وَنَبْلُوكُم
wanablūkum
And We test you
بِٱلشَّرِّ
bil-shari
with [the] bad
وَٱلْخَيْرِ
wal-khayri
and [the] good
فِتْنَةً
fit'natan
(as) a trial
وَإِلَيْنَا
wa-ilaynā
and to Us
تُرْجَعُونَ
tur'jaʿūna
you will be returned
Every soul will taste death. And We test you with evil and with good as trial; and to Us you will be returned.

21:36
Ayah 21:36
وَإِذَا رَءَاكَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِن يَتَّخِذُونَكَ إِلَّا هُزُوًا أَهَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى يَذْكُرُ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ وَهُم بِذِكْرِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ هُمْ كَـٰفِرُونَ
وَإِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
رَءَاكَ
raāka
they see you
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوٓا۟
kafarū
disbelieve
إِن
in
not
يَتَّخِذُونَكَ
yattakhidhūnaka
they take you
إِلَّا
illā
except
هُزُوًا
huzuwan
(in) ridicule
أَهَـٰذَا
ahādhā
Is this
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
the one who
يَذْكُرُ
yadhkuru
mentions
ءَالِهَتَكُمْ
ālihatakum
your gods
وَهُم
wahum
And they
بِذِكْرِ
bidhik'ri
at (the) mention
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
l-raḥmāni
(of) the Most Gracious
هُمْ
hum
[they]
كَـٰفِرُونَ
kāfirūna
(are) disbelievers
And when those who disbelieve see you, [O Muḥammad], they take you not except in ridicule, [saying], "Is this the one who mentions [i.e., insults] your gods?" And they are, at the mention of the Most Merciful, disbelievers.

21:37
Ayah 21:37
خُلِقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مِنْ عَجَلٍ ۚ سَأُو۟رِيكُمْ ءَايَـٰتِى فَلَا تَسْتَعْجِلُونِ
خُلِقَ
khuliqa
Is created
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ
l-insānu
the man
مِنْ
min
of
عَجَلٍ
ʿajalin
haste
سَأُو۟رِيكُمْ
sa-urīkum
I will show you
ءَايَـٰتِى
āyātī
My Signs
فَلَا
falā
so (do) not
تَسْتَعْجِلُونِ
tastaʿjilūni
ask Me to hasten
Man was created of haste [i.e., impatience]. I will show you My signs [i.e., vengeance], so do not impatiently urge Me.

21:38
Ayah 21:38
وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
وَيَقُولُونَ
wayaqūlūna
And they say
مَتَىٰ
matā
When (will be fulfilled)
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
this
ٱلْوَعْدُ
l-waʿdu
promise
إِن
in
if
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you are
صَـٰدِقِينَ
ṣādiqīna
truthful
And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?"

21:39
Ayah 21:39
لَوْ يَعْلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ حِينَ لَا يَكُفُّونَ عَن وُجُوهِهِمُ ٱلنَّارَ وَلَا عَن ظُهُورِهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ
لَوْ
law
If
يَعْلَمُ
yaʿlamu
knew
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieved
حِينَ
ḥīna
(the) time
لَا
(when) not
يَكُفُّونَ
yakuffūna
they will avert
عَن
ʿan
from
وُجُوهِهِمُ
wujūhihimu
their faces
ٱلنَّارَ
l-nāra
the Fire
وَلَا
walā
and not
عَن
ʿan
from
ظُهُورِهِمْ
ẓuhūrihim
their backs
وَلَا
walā
and not
هُمْ
hum
they
يُنصَرُونَ
yunṣarūna
will be helped
If those who disbelieved but knew the time when they will not avert the Fire from their faces or from their backs and they will not be aided...1

21:40
Ayah 21:40
بَلْ تَأْتِيهِم بَغْتَةً فَتَبْهَتُهُمْ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ رَدَّهَا وَلَا هُمْ يُنظَرُونَ
بَلْ
bal
Nay
تَأْتِيهِم
tatīhim
it will come to them
بَغْتَةً
baghtatan
unexpectedly
فَتَبْهَتُهُمْ
fatabhatuhum
and bewilder them
فَلَا
falā
then not
يَسْتَطِيعُونَ
yastaṭīʿūna
they will be able
رَدَّهَا
raddahā
to repel it
وَلَا
walā
and not
هُمْ
hum
they
يُنظَرُونَ
yunẓarūna
will be given respite
Rather, it will come to them unexpectedly and bewilder them, and they will not be able to repel it, nor will they be reprieved.

21:41
Ayah 21:41
وَلَقَدِ ٱسْتُهْزِئَ بِرُسُلٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَحَاقَ بِٱلَّذِينَ سَخِرُوا۟ مِنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
وَلَقَدِ
walaqadi
And verily
ٱسْتُهْزِئَ
us'tuh'zi-a
were mocked
بِرُسُلٍ
birusulin
Messengers
مِّن
min
before you
قَبْلِكَ
qablika
before you
فَحَاقَ
faḥāqa
then surrounded
بِٱلَّذِينَ
bi-alladhīna
those who
سَخِرُوا۟
sakhirū
mocked
مِنْهُم
min'hum
from them
مَّا
what
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they used
بِهِۦ
bihi
at it
يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
yastahziūna
(to) mock
And already were messengers ridiculed before you, but those who mocked them were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.

21:42
Ayah 21:42
قُلْ مَن يَكْلَؤُكُم بِٱلَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ مِنَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۗ بَلْ هُمْ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّهِم مُّعْرِضُونَ
قُلْ
qul
Say
مَن
man
Who
يَكْلَؤُكُم
yakla-ukum
(can) protect you
بِٱلَّيْلِ
bi-al-layli
in the night
وَٱلنَّهَارِ
wal-nahāri
and the day
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ
l-raḥmāni
the Most Gracious
بَلْ
bal
Yet
هُمْ
hum
they
عَن
ʿan
from
ذِكْرِ
dhik'ri
(the) remembrance
رَبِّهِم
rabbihim
(of) their Lord
مُّعْرِضُونَ
muʿ'riḍūna
turn away
Say, "Who can protect you at night or by day from the Most Merciful?" But they are, from the remembrance of their Lord, turning away.

21:43
Ayah 21:43
أَمْ لَهُمْ ءَالِهَةٌ تَمْنَعُهُم مِّن دُونِنَا ۚ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَلَا هُم مِّنَّا يُصْحَبُونَ
أَمْ
am
Or
لَهُمْ
lahum
have they
ءَالِهَةٌ
ālihatun
gods
تَمْنَعُهُم
tamnaʿuhum
(to) defend them
مِّن
min
from
دُونِنَا
dūninā
Us
لَا
Not
يَسْتَطِيعُونَ
yastaṭīʿūna
they are able
نَصْرَ
naṣra
(to) help
أَنفُسِهِمْ
anfusihim
themselves
وَلَا
walā
and not
هُم
hum
they
مِّنَّا
minnā
from Us
يُصْحَبُونَ
yuṣ'ḥabūna
can be protected
Or do they have gods to defend them other than Us? They are unable [even] to help themselves, nor can they be protected from Us.

21:44
Ayah 21:44
بَلْ مَتَّعْنَا هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ وَءَابَآءَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ طَالَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْعُمُرُ ۗ أَفَلَا يَرَوْنَ أَنَّا نَأْتِى ٱلْأَرْضَ نَنقُصُهَا مِنْ أَطْرَافِهَآ ۚ أَفَهُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ
بَلْ
bal
Nay
مَتَّعْنَا
mattaʿnā
We gave provision
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
hāulāi
(to) these
وَءَابَآءَهُمْ
waābāahum
and their fathers
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattā
until
طَالَ
ṭāla
grew long
عَلَيْهِمُ
ʿalayhimu
for them
ٱلْعُمُرُ
l-ʿumuru
the life
أَفَلَا
afalā
Then do not
يَرَوْنَ
yarawna
they see
أَنَّا
annā
that We
نَأْتِى
natī
We come
ٱلْأَرْضَ
l-arḍa
(to) the land
نَنقُصُهَا
nanquṣuhā
We reduce it
مِنْ
min
from
أَطْرَافِهَآ
aṭrāfihā
its borders
أَفَهُمُ
afahumu
So is (it) they
ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ
l-ghālibūna
(who will be) overcoming
But, [on the contrary], We have provided good things for these [disbelievers] and their fathers until life was prolonged for them. Then do they not see that We set upon the land, reducing it from its borders?1 Is it they who will overcome?

21:45
Ayah 21:45
قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أُنذِرُكُم بِٱلْوَحْىِ ۚ وَلَا يَسْمَعُ ٱلصُّمُّ ٱلدُّعَآءَ إِذَا مَا يُنذَرُونَ
قُلْ
qul
Say
إِنَّمَآ
innamā
Only
أُنذِرُكُم
undhirukum
I warn you
بِٱلْوَحْىِ
bil-waḥyi
by the revelation
وَلَا
walā
But not
يَسْمَعُ
yasmaʿu
hear
ٱلصُّمُّ
l-ṣumu
the deaf
ٱلدُّعَآءَ
l-duʿāa
the call
إِذَا
idhā
when
مَا
when
يُنذَرُونَ
yundharūna
they are warned
Say, "I only warn you by revelation." But the deaf do not hear the call when they are warned.

21:46
Ayah 21:46
وَلَئِن مَّسَّتْهُمْ نَفْحَةٌ مِّنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّكَ لَيَقُولُنَّ يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ
وَلَئِن
wala-in
And if
مَّسَّتْهُمْ
massathum
touches them
نَفْحَةٌ
nafḥatun
a whiff
مِّنْ
min
of
عَذَابِ
ʿadhābi
(the) punishment
رَبِّكَ
rabbika
(of) your Lord
لَيَقُولُنَّ
layaqūlunna
surely they will say
يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ
yāwaylanā
O woe to us
إِنَّا
innā
Indeed, we
كُنَّا
kunnā
[we] were
ظَـٰلِمِينَ
ẓālimīna
wrongdoers
And if [as much as] a whiff of the punishment of your Lord should touch them, they would surely say, "O woe to us! Indeed, we have been wrongdoers."

21:47
Ayah 21:47
وَنَضَعُ ٱلْمَوَٰزِينَ ٱلْقِسْطَ لِيَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ فَلَا تُظْلَمُ نَفْسٌ شَيْـًٔا ۖ وَإِن كَانَ مِثْقَالَ حَبَّةٍ مِّنْ خَرْدَلٍ أَتَيْنَا بِهَا ۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِنَا حَـٰسِبِينَ
وَنَضَعُ
wanaḍaʿu
And We set
ٱلْمَوَٰزِينَ
l-mawāzīna
the scales
ٱلْقِسْطَ
l-qis'ṭa
(of) the justice
لِيَوْمِ
liyawmi
for (the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ
l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
فَلَا
falā
so not
تُظْلَمُ
tuẓ'lamu
will be wronged
نَفْسٌ
nafsun
any soul
شَيْـًٔا
shayan
(in) anything
وَإِن
wa-in
And if
كَانَ
kāna
(there) be
مِثْقَالَ
mith'qāla
weight
حَبَّةٍ
ḥabbatin
(of) a seed
مِّنْ
min
of
خَرْدَلٍ
khardalin
a mustard
أَتَيْنَا
ataynā
We will bring
بِهَا
bihā
[with] it
وَكَفَىٰ
wakafā
And sufficient
بِنَا
binā
(are) We
حَـٰسِبِينَ
ḥāsibīna
(as) Reckoners
And We place the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be treated unjustly at all. And if there is [even] the weight of a mustard seed,1 We will bring it forth. And sufficient are We as accountant.

21:48
Ayah 21:48
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ ٱلْفُرْقَانَ وَضِيَآءً وَذِكْرًا لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And verily
ءَاتَيْنَا
ātaynā
We gave
مُوسَىٰ
mūsā
Musa
وَهَـٰرُونَ
wahārūna
and Harun
ٱلْفُرْقَانَ
l-fur'qāna
the Criterion
وَضِيَآءً
waḍiyāan
and a light
وَذِكْرًا
wadhik'ran
and a Reminder
لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
lil'muttaqīna
for the righteous
And We had already given Moses and Aaron the criterion and a light and a reminder1 for the righteous

21:49
Ayah 21:49
ٱلَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلْغَيْبِ وَهُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّاعَةِ مُشْفِقُونَ
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
Those who
يَخْشَوْنَ
yakhshawna
fear
رَبَّهُم
rabbahum
their Lord
بِٱلْغَيْبِ
bil-ghaybi
in the unseen
وَهُم
wahum
and they
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلسَّاعَةِ
l-sāʿati
the Hour
مُشْفِقُونَ
mush'fiqūna
(are) afraid
Who fear their Lord unseen,1 while they are of the Hour apprehensive.

21:50
Ayah 21:50
وَهَـٰذَا ذِكْرٌ مُّبَارَكٌ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ ۚ أَفَأَنتُمْ لَهُۥ مُنكِرُونَ
وَهَـٰذَا
wahādhā
And this
ذِكْرٌ
dhik'run
(is) a Reminder
مُّبَارَكٌ
mubārakun
blessed
أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ
anzalnāhu
which We (have) revealed
أَفَأَنتُمْ
afa-antum
Then are you
لَهُۥ
lahu
of it
مُنكِرُونَ
munkirūna
rejecters
And this [Qur’ān] is a blessed message which We have sent down. Then are you with it unacquainted?1

21:51
Ayah 21:51
۞ وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَآ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ رُشْدَهُۥ مِن قَبْلُ وَكُنَّا بِهِۦ عَـٰلِمِينَ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And verily
ءَاتَيْنَآ
ātaynā
We gave
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
ib'rāhīma
Ibrahim
رُشْدَهُۥ
rush'dahu
his guidance
مِن
min
before
قَبْلُ
qablu
before
وَكُنَّا
wakunnā
and We were
بِهِۦ
bihi
about him
عَـٰلِمِينَ
ʿālimīna
Well-Knowing
And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before,1 and We were of him well-Knowing

21:52
Ayah 21:52
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَا هَـٰذِهِ ٱلتَّمَاثِيلُ ٱلَّتِىٓ أَنتُمْ لَهَا عَـٰكِفُونَ
إِذْ
idh
When
قَالَ
qāla
he said
لِأَبِيهِ
li-abīhi
to his father
وَقَوْمِهِۦ
waqawmihi
and his people
مَا
What
هَـٰذِهِ
hādhihi
(are) these
ٱلتَّمَاثِيلُ
l-tamāthīlu
[the] statues
ٱلَّتِىٓ
allatī
which
أَنتُمْ
antum
you
لَهَا
lahā
to it
عَـٰكِفُونَ
ʿākifūna
(are) devoted
When he said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoted?"

21:53
Ayah 21:53
قَالُوا۟ وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا لَهَا عَـٰبِدِينَ
قَالُوا۟
qālū
They said
وَجَدْنَآ
wajadnā
We found
ءَابَآءَنَا
ābāanā
our forefathers
لَهَا
lahā
of them
عَـٰبِدِينَ
ʿābidīna
worshippers
They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them."

21:54
Ayah 21:54
قَالَ لَقَدْ كُنتُمْ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُمْ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ
قَالَ
qāla
He said
لَقَدْ
laqad
Verily
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you are
أَنتُمْ
antum
[you]
وَءَابَآؤُكُمْ
waābāukum
and your forefathers
فِى
(were) in
ضَلَـٰلٍ
ḍalālin
an error
مُّبِينٍ
mubīnin
manifest
He said, "You were certainly, you and your fathers, in manifest error."

21:55
Ayah 21:55
قَالُوٓا۟ أَجِئْتَنَا بِٱلْحَقِّ أَمْ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱللَّـٰعِبِينَ
قَالُوٓا۟
qālū
They said
أَجِئْتَنَا
aji'tanā
Have you come to us
بِٱلْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqi
with the truth
أَمْ
am
or
أَنتَ
anta
you
مِنَ
mina
(are) of
ٱللَّـٰعِبِينَ
l-lāʿibīna
those who play
They said, "Have you come to us with truth, or are you of those who jest?"

21:56
Ayah 21:56
قَالَ بَل رَّبُّكُمْ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلَّذِى فَطَرَهُنَّ وَأَنَا۠ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّـٰهِدِينَ
قَالَ
qāla
He said
بَل
bal
Nay
رَّبُّكُمْ
rabbukum
your Lord
رَبُّ
rabbu
(is the) Lord
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti
(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
wal-arḍi
and the earth
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
the One Who
فَطَرَهُنَّ
faṭarahunna
created them
وَأَنَا۠
wa-anā
and I am
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
to
ذَٰلِكُم
dhālikum
that
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلشَّـٰهِدِينَ
l-shāhidīna
the witnesses
He said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify.

21:57
Ayah 21:57
وَتَٱللَّهِ لَأَكِيدَنَّ أَصْنَـٰمَكُم بَعْدَ أَن تُوَلُّوا۟ مُدْبِرِينَ
وَتَٱللَّهِ
watal-lahi
And by Allah
لَأَكِيدَنَّ
la-akīdanna
surely, I will plan
أَصْنَـٰمَكُم
aṣnāmakum
(against) your idols
بَعْدَ
baʿda
after
أَن
an
[that]
تُوَلُّوا۟
tuwallū
you go away
مُدْبِرِينَ
mud'birīna
turning (your) backs
And [I swear] by Allāh, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away."

21:58
Ayah 21:58
فَجَعَلَهُمْ جُذَٰذًا إِلَّا كَبِيرًا لَّهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِ يَرْجِعُونَ
فَجَعَلَهُمْ
fajaʿalahum
So he made them
جُذَٰذًا
judhādhan
(into) pieces
إِلَّا
illā
except
كَبِيرًا
kabīran
a large (one)
لَّهُمْ
lahum
of them
لَعَلَّهُمْ
laʿallahum
so that they may
إِلَيْهِ
ilayhi
to it
يَرْجِعُونَ
yarjiʿūna
return
So he made them into fragments, except a large one among them, that they might return to it [and question].

21:59
Ayah 21:59
قَالُوا۟ مَن فَعَلَ هَـٰذَا بِـَٔالِهَتِنَآ إِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
قَالُوا۟
qālū
They said
مَن
man
Who
فَعَلَ
faʿala
(has) done
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
this
بِـَٔالِهَتِنَآ
biālihatinā
to our gods
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, he
لَمِنَ
lamina
(is) of
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīna
the wrongdoers
They said, "Who has done this to our gods? Indeed, he is of the wrongdoers."

21:60
Ayah 21:60
قَالُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا فَتًى يَذْكُرُهُمْ يُقَالُ لَهُۥٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمُ
قَالُوا۟
qālū
They said
سَمِعْنَا
samiʿ'nā
We heard
فَتًى
fatan
a youth
يَذْكُرُهُمْ
yadhkuruhum
mention them
يُقَالُ
yuqālu
he is called
لَهُۥٓ
lahu
he is called
إِبْرَٰهِيمُ
ib'rāhīmu
Ibrahim
They said, "We heard a young man mention them who is called Abraham."

21:61
Ayah 21:61
قَالُوا۟ فَأْتُوا۟ بِهِۦ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْيُنِ ٱلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَشْهَدُونَ
قَالُوا۟
qālū
They said
فَأْتُوا۟
fatū
Then bring
بِهِۦ
bihi
him
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalā
before
أَعْيُنِ
aʿyuni
(the) eyes
ٱلنَّاسِ
l-nāsi
(of) the people
لَعَلَّهُمْ
laʿallahum
so that they may
يَشْهَدُونَ
yashhadūna
bear witness
They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people that they may testify."1

21:62
Ayah 21:62
قَالُوٓا۟ ءَأَنتَ فَعَلْتَ هَـٰذَا بِـَٔالِهَتِنَا يَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ
قَالُوٓا۟
qālū
They said
ءَأَنتَ
a-anta
Have you
فَعَلْتَ
faʿalta
done
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
this
بِـَٔالِهَتِنَا
biālihatinā
to our gods
يَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ
yāib'rāhīmu
O Ibrahim
They said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham?"

21:63
Ayah 21:63
قَالَ بَلْ فَعَلَهُۥ كَبِيرُهُمْ هَـٰذَا فَسْـَٔلُوهُمْ إِن كَانُوا۟ يَنطِقُونَ
قَالَ
qāla
He said
بَلْ
bal
Nay
فَعَلَهُۥ
faʿalahu
(some doer) did it
كَبِيرُهُمْ
kabīruhum
Their chief
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
(is) this
فَسْـَٔلُوهُمْ
fasalūhum
So ask them
إِن
in
if
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they (can)
يَنطِقُونَ
yanṭiqūna
speak
He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak."

21:64
Ayah 21:64
فَرَجَعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ فَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ أَنتُمُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
فَرَجَعُوٓا۟
farajaʿū
So they returned
إِلَىٰٓ
ilā
to
أَنفُسِهِمْ
anfusihim
themselves
فَقَالُوٓا۟
faqālū
and said
إِنَّكُمْ
innakum
Indeed, you
أَنتُمُ
antumu
[you]
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
l-ẓālimūna
(are) the wrongdoers
So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers."

21:65
Ayah 21:65
ثُمَّ نُكِسُوا۟ عَلَىٰ رُءُوسِهِمْ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ مَا هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ يَنطِقُونَ
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
نُكِسُوا۟
nukisū
they were turned
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
on
رُءُوسِهِمْ
ruūsihim
their heads
لَقَدْ
laqad
Verily
عَلِمْتَ
ʿalim'ta
you know
مَا
not
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
hāulāi
these
يَنطِقُونَ
yanṭiqūna
(can) speak
Then they reversed themselves,1 [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!"

21:66
Ayah 21:66
قَالَ أَفَتَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَنفَعُكُمْ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا يَضُرُّكُمْ
قَالَ
qāla
He said
أَفَتَعْبُدُونَ
afataʿbudūna
Then do you worship
مِن
min
besides
دُونِ
dūni
besides
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
مَا
what
لَا
(does) not
يَنفَعُكُمْ
yanfaʿukum
benefit you
شَيْـًٔا
shayan
(in) anything
وَلَا
walā
and not
يَضُرُّكُمْ
yaḍurrukum
harms you
He said, "Then do you worship instead of Allāh that which does not benefit you at all or harm you?

21:67
Ayah 21:67
أُفٍّ لَّكُمْ وَلِمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
أُفٍّ
uffin
Uff
لَّكُمْ
lakum
to you
وَلِمَا
walimā
and to what
تَعْبُدُونَ
taʿbudūna
you worship
مِن
min
besides
دُونِ
dūni
besides
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
أَفَلَا
afalā
Then will not
تَعْقِلُونَ
taʿqilūna
you use reason
Uff1 to you and to what you worship instead of Allāh. Then will you not use reason?"

21:68
Ayah 21:68
قَالُوا۟ حَرِّقُوهُ وَٱنصُرُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ فَـٰعِلِينَ
قَالُوا۟
qālū
They said
حَرِّقُوهُ
ḥarriqūhu
Burn him
وَٱنصُرُوٓا۟
wa-unṣurū
and support
ءَالِهَتَكُمْ
ālihatakum
your gods
إِن
in
if
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you are
فَـٰعِلِينَ
fāʿilīna
doers
They said, "Burn him and support your gods - if you are to act."

21:69
Ayah 21:69
قُلْنَا يَـٰنَارُ كُونِى بَرْدًا وَسَلَـٰمًا عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
قُلْنَا
qul'nā
We said
يَـٰنَارُ
yānāru
O fire
كُونِى
kūnī
Be
بَرْدًا
bardan
cool[ness]
وَسَلَـٰمًا
wasalāman
and safe[ty]
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalā
for
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
ib'rāhīma
Ibrahim
We [i.e., Allāh] said, "O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham."

21:70
Ayah 21:70
وَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْأَخْسَرِينَ
وَأَرَادُوا۟
wa-arādū
And they intended
بِهِۦ
bihi
for him
كَيْدًا
kaydan
a plan
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمُ
fajaʿalnāhumu
but We made them
ٱلْأَخْسَرِينَ
l-akhsarīna
the greatest losers
And they intended for him a plan [i.e., harm], but We made them the greatest losers.

21:71
Ayah 21:71
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَلُوطًا إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلَّتِى بَـٰرَكْنَا فِيهَا لِلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ
wanajjaynāhu
And We delivered him
وَلُوطًا
walūṭan
and Lut
إِلَى
ilā
to
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the land
ٱلَّتِى
allatī
which
بَـٰرَكْنَا
bāraknā
We (had) blessed
فِيهَا
fīhā
[in it]
لِلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
lil'ʿālamīna
for the worlds
And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds [i.e., peoples].

21:72
Ayah 21:72
وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥٓ إِسْحَـٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ نَافِلَةً ۖ وَكُلًّا جَعَلْنَا صَـٰلِحِينَ
وَوَهَبْنَا
wawahabnā
And We bestowed
لَهُۥٓ
lahu
on him
إِسْحَـٰقَ
is'ḥāqa
Isaac
وَيَعْقُوبَ
wayaʿqūba
and Yaqub
نَافِلَةً
nāfilatan
(in) addition
وَكُلًّا
wakullan
and all
جَعَلْنَا
jaʿalnā
We made
صَـٰلِحِينَ
ṣāliḥīna
righteous
And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous.

21:73
Ayah 21:73
وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ أَئِمَّةً يَهْدُونَ بِأَمْرِنَا وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْهِمْ فِعْلَ ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ وَإِقَامَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَإِيتَآءَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةِ ۖ وَكَانُوا۟ لَنَا عَـٰبِدِينَ
وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ
wajaʿalnāhum
And We made them
أَئِمَّةً
a-immatan
leaders
يَهْدُونَ
yahdūna
they guide
بِأَمْرِنَا
bi-amrinā
by Our Command
وَأَوْحَيْنَآ
wa-awḥaynā
And We inspired
إِلَيْهِمْ
ilayhim
to them
فِعْلَ
fiʿ'la
(the) doing
ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ
l-khayrāti
(of) good deeds
وَإِقَامَ
wa-iqāma
and establishment
ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ
l-ṣalati
(of) the prayer
وَإِيتَآءَ
waītāa
and giving
ٱلزَّكَوٰةِ
l-zakati
(of) zakah
وَكَانُوا۟
wakānū
and they were
لَنَا
lanā
of Us
عَـٰبِدِينَ
ʿābidīna
worshippers
And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakāh; and they were worshippers of Us.

21:74
Ayah 21:74
وَلُوطًا ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ حُكْمًا وَعِلْمًا وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلْقَرْيَةِ ٱلَّتِى كَانَت تَّعْمَلُ ٱلْخَبَـٰٓئِثَ ۗ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمَ سَوْءٍ فَـٰسِقِينَ
وَلُوطًا
walūṭan
And (to) Lut
ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ
ātaynāhu
We gave him
حُكْمًا
ḥuk'man
judgment
وَعِلْمًا
waʿil'man
and knowledge
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ
wanajjaynāhu
and We saved him
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلْقَرْيَةِ
l-qaryati
the town
ٱلَّتِى
allatī
which
كَانَت
kānat
was
تَّعْمَلُ
taʿmalu
doing
ٱلْخَبَـٰٓئِثَ
l-khabāitha
wicked deeds
إِنَّهُمْ
innahum
Indeed, they
كَانُوا۟
kānū
were
قَوْمَ
qawma
a people
سَوْءٍ
sawin
evil
فَـٰسِقِينَ
fāsiqīna
defiantly disobedient
And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient.

21:75
Ayah 21:75
وَأَدْخَلْنَـٰهُ فِى رَحْمَتِنَآ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
وَأَدْخَلْنَـٰهُ
wa-adkhalnāhu
And We admitted him
فِى
into
رَحْمَتِنَآ
raḥmatinā
Our Mercy
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, he
مِنَ
mina
(was) of
ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
l-ṣāliḥīna
the righteous
And We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was of the righteous.

21:76
Ayah 21:76
وَنُوحًا إِذْ نَادَىٰ مِن قَبْلُ فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ فَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
وَنُوحًا
wanūḥan
And Nuh
إِذْ
idh
when
نَادَىٰ
nādā
he called
مِن
min
before
قَبْلُ
qablu
before
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا
fa-is'tajabnā
so We responded
لَهُۥ
lahu
to him
فَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ
fanajjaynāhu
and We saved him
وَأَهْلَهُۥ
wa-ahlahu
and his family
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلْكَرْبِ
l-karbi
the affliction
ٱلْعَظِيمِ
l-ʿaẓīmi
[the] great
And [mention] Noah, when he called [to Allāh]1 before [that time], so We responded to him and saved him and his family from the great affliction [i.e., the flood].

21:77
Ayah 21:77
وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمَ سَوْءٍ فَأَغْرَقْنَـٰهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُ
wanaṣarnāhu
And We helped him
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلْقَوْمِ
l-qawmi
the people
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
who
كَذَّبُوا۟
kadhabū
denied
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ
biāyātinā
Our Signs
إِنَّهُمْ
innahum
Indeed, they
كَانُوا۟
kānū
were
قَوْمَ
qawma
a people
سَوْءٍ
sawin
evil
فَأَغْرَقْنَـٰهُمْ
fa-aghraqnāhum
so We drowned them
أَجْمَعِينَ
ajmaʿīna
all
And We aided [i.e., saved] him from the people who denied Our signs. Indeed, they were a people of evil, so We drowned them, all together.

21:78
Ayah 21:78
وَدَاوُۥدَ وَسُلَيْمَـٰنَ إِذْ يَحْكُمَانِ فِى ٱلْحَرْثِ إِذْ نَفَشَتْ فِيهِ غَنَمُ ٱلْقَوْمِ وَكُنَّا لِحُكْمِهِمْ شَـٰهِدِينَ
وَدَاوُۥدَ
wadāwūda
And Dawud
وَسُلَيْمَـٰنَ
wasulaymāna
and Sulaiman
إِذْ
idh
when
يَحْكُمَانِ
yaḥkumāni
they judged
فِى
concerning
ٱلْحَرْثِ
l-ḥarthi
the field
إِذْ
idh
when
نَفَشَتْ
nafashat
pastured
فِيهِ
fīhi
in it
غَنَمُ
ghanamu
sheep
ٱلْقَوْمِ
l-qawmi
(of) a people
وَكُنَّا
wakunnā
and We were
لِحُكْمِهِمْ
liḥuk'mihim
to their judgment
شَـٰهِدِينَ
shāhidīna
witness
And [mention] David and Solomon, when they judged concerning the field - when the sheep of a people overran it [at night],1 and We were witness to their judgement.

21:79
Ayah 21:79
فَفَهَّمْنَـٰهَا سُلَيْمَـٰنَ ۚ وَكُلًّا ءَاتَيْنَا حُكْمًا وَعِلْمًا ۚ وَسَخَّرْنَا مَعَ دَاوُۥدَ ٱلْجِبَالَ يُسَبِّحْنَ وَٱلطَّيْرَ ۚ وَكُنَّا فَـٰعِلِينَ
فَفَهَّمْنَـٰهَا
fafahhamnāhā
And We gave understanding of it
سُلَيْمَـٰنَ
sulaymāna
(to) Sulaiman
وَكُلًّا
wakullan
and (to) each
ءَاتَيْنَا
ātaynā
We gave
حُكْمًا
ḥuk'man
judgment
وَعِلْمًا
waʿil'man
and knowledge
وَسَخَّرْنَا
wasakharnā
And We subjected
مَعَ
maʿa
with
دَاوُۥدَ
dāwūda
Dawud
ٱلْجِبَالَ
l-jibāla
the mountains
يُسَبِّحْنَ
yusabbiḥ'na
(to) glorify Our praises
وَٱلطَّيْرَ
wal-ṭayra
and the birds
وَكُنَّا
wakunnā
And We were
فَـٰعِلِينَ
fāʿilīna
the Doers
And We gave understanding of it [i.e., the case] to Solomon, and to each [of them] We gave judgement and knowledge. And We subjected the mountains to exalt [Us], along with David and [also] the birds. And We were doing [that].1

21:80
Ayah 21:80
وَعَلَّمْنَـٰهُ صَنْعَةَ لَبُوسٍ لَّكُمْ لِتُحْصِنَكُم مِّنۢ بَأْسِكُمْ ۖ فَهَلْ أَنتُمْ شَـٰكِرُونَ
وَعَلَّمْنَـٰهُ
waʿallamnāhu
And We taught him
صَنْعَةَ
ṣanʿata
(the) making
لَبُوسٍ
labūsin
(of) coats of armor
لَّكُمْ
lakum
for you
لِتُحْصِنَكُم
lituḥ'ṣinakum
to protect you
مِّنۢ
min
from
بَأْسِكُمْ
basikum
your battle
فَهَلْ
fahal
Then will
أَنتُمْ
antum
you
شَـٰكِرُونَ
shākirūna
(be) grateful
And We taught him the fashioning of coats of armor to protect you from your [enemy in] battle. So will you then be grateful?

21:81
Ayah 21:81
وَلِسُلَيْمَـٰنَ ٱلرِّيحَ عَاصِفَةً تَجْرِى بِأَمْرِهِۦٓ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلَّتِى بَـٰرَكْنَا فِيهَا ۚ وَكُنَّا بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَـٰلِمِينَ
وَلِسُلَيْمَـٰنَ
walisulaymāna
And to Sulaiman
ٱلرِّيحَ
l-rīḥa
the wind
عَاصِفَةً
ʿāṣifatan
forcefully
تَجْرِى
tajrī
blowing
بِأَمْرِهِۦٓ
bi-amrihi
by his command
إِلَى
ilā
to
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the land
ٱلَّتِى
allatī
which
بَـٰرَكْنَا
bāraknā
We blessed
فِيهَا
fīhā
[in it]
وَكُنَّا
wakunnā
And We are
بِكُلِّ
bikulli
of every
شَىْءٍ
shayin
thing
عَـٰلِمِينَ
ʿālimīna
Knowers
And to Solomon [We subjected] the wind, blowing forcefully, proceeding by his command toward the land which We had blessed. And We are ever, of all things, Knowing.

21:82
Ayah 21:82
وَمِنَ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ مَن يَغُوصُونَ لَهُۥ وَيَعْمَلُونَ عَمَلًا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَكُنَّا لَهُمْ حَـٰفِظِينَ
وَمِنَ
wamina
And of
ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ
l-shayāṭīni
the devils
مَن
man
(were some) who
يَغُوصُونَ
yaghūṣūna
would dive
لَهُۥ
lahu
for him
وَيَعْمَلُونَ
wayaʿmalūna
and would do
عَمَلًا
ʿamalan
work
دُونَ
dūna
other than
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
that
وَكُنَّا
wakunnā
And We were
لَهُمْ
lahum
of them
حَـٰفِظِينَ
ḥāfiẓīna
Guardians
And of the devils [i.e., jinn] were those who dived for him and did work other than that. And We were of them a guardian.1

21:83
Ayah 21:83
۞ وَأَيُّوبَ إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَسَّنِىَ ٱلضُّرُّ وَأَنتَ أَرْحَمُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ
وَأَيُّوبَ
wa-ayyūba
And Ayub
إِذْ
idh
when
نَادَىٰ
nādā
he called
رَبَّهُۥٓ
rabbahu
(to) his Lord
أَنِّى
annī
Indeed, [I]
مَسَّنِىَ
massaniya
has touched me
ٱلضُّرُّ
l-ḍuru
the adversity
وَأَنتَ
wa-anta
and You
أَرْحَمُ
arḥamu
(are) Most Merciful
ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ
l-rāḥimīna
(of) the Merciful
And [mention] Job, when he called to his Lord, "Indeed, adversity has touched me, and You are the most merciful of the merciful."

21:84
Ayah 21:84
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ فَكَشَفْنَا مَا بِهِۦ مِن ضُرٍّ ۖ وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ أَهْلَهُۥ وَمِثْلَهُم مَّعَهُمْ رَحْمَةً مِّنْ عِندِنَا وَذِكْرَىٰ لِلْعَـٰبِدِينَ
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا
fa-is'tajabnā
So We responded
لَهُۥ
lahu
to him
فَكَشَفْنَا
fakashafnā
and We removed
مَا
what
بِهِۦ
bihi
(was) on him
مِن
min
of
ضُرٍّ
ḍurrin
(the) adversity
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ
waātaynāhu
And We gave him
أَهْلَهُۥ
ahlahu
his family
وَمِثْلَهُم
wamith'lahum
and (the) like thereof
مَّعَهُمْ
maʿahum
with them
رَحْمَةً
raḥmatan
(as) Mercy
مِّنْ
min
from Ourselves
عِندِنَا
ʿindinā
from Ourselves
وَذِكْرَىٰ
wadhik'rā
and a reminder
لِلْعَـٰبِدِينَ
lil'ʿābidīna
for the worshippers
So We responded to him and removed what afflicted him of adversity. And We gave him [back] his family and the like thereof with them as mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers [of Allāh].

21:85
Ayah 21:85
وَإِسْمَـٰعِيلَ وَإِدْرِيسَ وَذَا ٱلْكِفْلِ ۖ كُلٌّ مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
وَإِسْمَـٰعِيلَ
wa-is'māʿīla
And Ishmael
وَإِدْرِيسَ
wa-id'rīsa
and Idris
وَذَا
wadhā
and Dhul-Kifl
ٱلْكِفْلِ
l-kif'li
and Dhul-Kifl
كُلٌّ
kullun
all
مِّنَ
mina
(were) of
ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
l-ṣābirīna
the patient ones
And [mention] Ishmael and Idrees and Dhul-Kifl; all were of the patient.

21:86
Ayah 21:86
وَأَدْخَلْنَـٰهُمْ فِى رَحْمَتِنَآ ۖ إِنَّهُم مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
وَأَدْخَلْنَـٰهُمْ
wa-adkhalnāhum
And We admitted them
فِى
in
رَحْمَتِنَآ
raḥmatinā
Our Mercy
إِنَّهُم
innahum
Indeed, they
مِّنَ
mina
(were) of
ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
l-ṣāliḥīna
the righteous
And We admitted them into Our mercy. Indeed, they were of the righteous.

21:87
Ayah 21:87
وَذَا ٱلنُّونِ إِذ ذَّهَبَ مُغَـٰضِبًا فَظَنَّ أَن لَّن نَّقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ فَنَادَىٰ فِى ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ أَن لَّآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنتَ سُبْحَـٰنَكَ إِنِّى كُنتُ مِنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
وَذَا
wadhā
And Dhun-Nun
ٱلنُّونِ
l-nūni
And Dhun-Nun
إِذ
idh
when
ذَّهَبَ
dhahaba
he went
مُغَـٰضِبًا
mughāḍiban
(while) angry
فَظَنَّ
faẓanna
and thought
أَن
an
that
لَّن
lan
never
نَّقْدِرَ
naqdira
We would decree
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhi
upon him
فَنَادَىٰ
fanādā
Then he called
فِى
in
ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ
l-ẓulumāti
the darkness(es)
أَن
an
that
لَّآ
(There is) no
إِلَـٰهَ
ilāha
god
إِلَّآ
illā
except
أَنتَ
anta
You
سُبْحَـٰنَكَ
sub'ḥānaka
Glory be to You
إِنِّى
innī
Indeed, [I]
كُنتُ
kuntu
I am
مِنَ
mina
of
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīna
the wrongdoers
And [mention] the man of the fish [i.e., Jonah], when he went off in anger1 and thought that We would not decree [anything] upon him.2 And he called out within the darknesses,3 "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers."

21:88
Ayah 21:88
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلْغَمِّ ۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُـۨجِى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا
fa-is'tajabnā
So We responded
لَهُۥ
lahu
to him
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ
wanajjaynāhu
and We saved him
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلْغَمِّ
l-ghami
the distress
وَكَذَٰلِكَ
wakadhālika
And thus
نُـۨجِى
nunjī
We save
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
l-mu'minīna
the believers
So We responded to him and saved him from the distress. And thus do We save the believers.

21:89
Ayah 21:89
وَزَكَرِيَّآ إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥ رَبِّ لَا تَذَرْنِى فَرْدًا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلْوَٰرِثِينَ
وَزَكَرِيَّآ
wazakariyyā
And Zakariya
إِذْ
idh
when
نَادَىٰ
nādā
he called
رَبَّهُۥ
rabbahu
(to) his Lord
رَبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
لَا
(Do) not
تَذَرْنِى
tadharnī
leave me
فَرْدًا
fardan
alone
وَأَنتَ
wa-anta
while You
خَيْرُ
khayru
(are) [the] Best
ٱلْوَٰرِثِينَ
l-wārithīna
(of) the inheritors
And [mention] Zechariah, when he called to his Lord, "My Lord, do not leave me alone [with no heir], while You are the best of inheritors."

21:90
Ayah 21:90
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥ يَحْيَىٰ وَأَصْلَحْنَا لَهُۥ زَوْجَهُۥٓ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ يُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ وَيَدْعُونَنَا رَغَبًا وَرَهَبًا ۖ وَكَانُوا۟ لَنَا خَـٰشِعِينَ
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا
fa-is'tajabnā
So We responded
لَهُۥ
lahu
to him
وَوَهَبْنَا
wawahabnā
and We bestowed
لَهُۥ
lahu
on him
يَحْيَىٰ
yaḥyā
Yahya
وَأَصْلَحْنَا
wa-aṣlaḥnā
and We cured
لَهُۥ
lahu
for him
زَوْجَهُۥٓ
zawjahu
his wife
إِنَّهُمْ
innahum
Indeed, they
كَانُوا۟
kānū
used (to)
يُسَـٰرِعُونَ
yusāriʿūna
hasten
فِى
in
ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ
l-khayrāti
good deeds
وَيَدْعُونَنَا
wayadʿūnanā
and they supplicate to Us
رَغَبًا
raghaban
(in) hope
وَرَهَبًا
warahaban
and fear
وَكَانُوا۟
wakānū
and they were
لَنَا
lanā
to Us
خَـٰشِعِينَ
khāshiʿīna
humbly submissive
So We responded to him, and We gave to him John, and amended for him his wife. Indeed, they used to hasten to good deeds and supplicate1 Us in hope and fear, and they were to Us humbly submissive.

21:91
Ayah 21:91
وَٱلَّتِىٓ أَحْصَنَتْ فَرْجَهَا فَنَفَخْنَا فِيهَا مِن رُّوحِنَا وَجَعَلْنَـٰهَا وَٱبْنَهَآ ءَايَةً لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
وَٱلَّتِىٓ
wa-allatī
And she who
أَحْصَنَتْ
aḥṣanat
guarded
فَرْجَهَا
farjahā
her chastity
فَنَفَخْنَا
fanafakhnā
so We breathed
فِيهَا
fīhā
into her
مِن
min
of
رُّوحِنَا
rūḥinā
Our Spirit
وَجَعَلْنَـٰهَا
wajaʿalnāhā
and We made her
وَٱبْنَهَآ
wa-ib'nahā
and her son
ءَايَةً
āyatan
a sign
لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
lil'ʿālamīna
for the worlds
And [mention] the one who guarded her chastity [i.e., Mary], so We blew into her [garment] through Our angel [i.e., Gabriel], and We made her and her son a sign for the worlds.

21:92
Ayah 21:92
إِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦٓ أُمَّتُكُمْ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً وَأَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمْ فَٱعْبُدُونِ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
هَـٰذِهِۦٓ
hādhihi
this
أُمَّتُكُمْ
ummatukum
(is) your religion
أُمَّةً
ummatan
religion
وَٰحِدَةً
wāḥidatan
one
وَأَنَا۠
wa-anā
and I Am
رَبُّكُمْ
rabbukum
your Lord
فَٱعْبُدُونِ
fa-uʿ'budūni
so worship Me
Indeed this, your religion, is one religion,1 and I am your Lord, so worship Me.

21:93
Ayah 21:93
وَتَقَطَّعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَهُم بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلٌّ إِلَيْنَا رَٰجِعُونَ
وَتَقَطَّعُوٓا۟
wataqaṭṭaʿū
But they cut off
أَمْرَهُم
amrahum
their affair
بَيْنَهُمْ
baynahum
among themselves
كُلٌّ
kullun
all
إِلَيْنَا
ilaynā
to Us
رَٰجِعُونَ
rājiʿūna
(will) return
And [yet] they divided their affair [i.e., that of their religion] among themselves,1 [but] all to Us will return.

21:94
Ayah 21:94
فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَلَا كُفْرَانَ لِسَعْيِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ كَـٰتِبُونَ
فَمَن
faman
Then whoever
يَعْمَلْ
yaʿmal
does
مِنَ
mina
[of]
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ
l-ṣāliḥāti
[the] righteous deeds
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
while he
مُؤْمِنٌ
mu'minun
(is) a believer
فَلَا
falā
then not
كُفْرَانَ
kuf'rāna
(will be) rejected
لِسَعْيِهِۦ
lisaʿyihi
[of] his effort
وَإِنَّا
wa-innā
And indeed, We
لَهُۥ
lahu
of it
كَـٰتِبُونَ
kātibūna
(are) Recorders
So whoever does righteous deeds while he is a believer - no denial will there be for his effort,1 and indeed We [i.e., Our angels], of it, are recorders.

21:95
Ayah 21:95
وَحَرَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْنَـٰهَآ أَنَّهُمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ
وَحَرَٰمٌ
waḥarāmun
And (there is) prohibition
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
upon
قَرْيَةٍ
qaryatin
a city
أَهْلَكْنَـٰهَآ
ahlaknāhā
which We have destroyed
أَنَّهُمْ
annahum
that they
لَا
not
يَرْجِعُونَ
yarjiʿūna
will return
And it is prohibited to [the people of] a city which We have destroyed that they will [ever] return1

21:96
Ayah 21:96
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا فُتِحَتْ يَأْجُوجُ وَمَأْجُوجُ وَهُم مِّن كُلِّ حَدَبٍ يَنسِلُونَ
حَتَّىٰٓ
ḥattā
Until
إِذَا
idhā
when
فُتِحَتْ
futiḥat
has been opened
يَأْجُوجُ
yajūju
(for) the Yajuj
وَمَأْجُوجُ
wamajūju
and Majuj
وَهُم
wahum
and they
مِّن
min
from
كُلِّ
kulli
every
حَدَبٍ
ḥadabin
elevation
يَنسِلُونَ
yansilūna
descend
Until when [the dam of] Gog and Magog has been opened and they, from every elevation, descend

21:97
Ayah 21:97
وَٱقْتَرَبَ ٱلْوَعْدُ ٱلْحَقُّ فَإِذَا هِىَ شَـٰخِصَةٌ أَبْصَـٰرُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَا قَدْ كُنَّا فِى غَفْلَةٍ مِّنْ هَـٰذَا بَلْ كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ
وَٱقْتَرَبَ
wa-iq'taraba
And has approached
ٱلْوَعْدُ
l-waʿdu
the promise
ٱلْحَقُّ
l-ḥaqu
[the] true
فَإِذَا
fa-idhā
then behold
هِىَ
hiya
[it]
شَـٰخِصَةٌ
shākhiṣatun
(are) staring
أَبْصَـٰرُ
abṣāru
(the) eyes
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
(of) those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieved
يَـٰوَيْلَنَا
yāwaylanā
O woe to us
قَدْ
qad
Verily
كُنَّا
kunnā
we had been
فِى
in
غَفْلَةٍ
ghaflatin
heedlessness
مِّنْ
min
of
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
this
بَلْ
bal
nay
كُنَّا
kunnā
we were
ظَـٰلِمِينَ
ẓālimīna
wrongdoers
And [when] the true promise [i.e., the resurrection] has approached; then suddenly the eyes of those who disbelieved will be staring [in horror, while they say], "O woe to us; we had been unmindful of this; rather, we were wrongdoers."

21:98
Ayah 21:98
إِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ حَصَبُ جَهَنَّمَ أَنتُمْ لَهَا وَٰرِدُونَ
إِنَّكُمْ
innakum
Indeed, you
وَمَا
wamā
and what
تَعْبُدُونَ
taʿbudūna
you worship
مِن
min
besides Allah
دُونِ
dūni
besides Allah
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
besides Allah
حَصَبُ
ḥaṣabu
(are) firewood
جَهَنَّمَ
jahannama
(of) Hell
أَنتُمْ
antum
You
لَهَا
lahā
to it
وَٰرِدُونَ
wāridūna
will come
Indeed, you [disbelievers] and what you worship other than Allāh are the firewood of Hell. You will be coming to [enter] it.

21:99
Ayah 21:99
لَوْ كَانَ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ ءَالِهَةً مَّا وَرَدُوهَا ۖ وَكُلٌّ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ
لَوْ
law
If
كَانَ
kāna
were
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
hāulāi
these
ءَالِهَةً
ālihatan
gods
مَّا
not
وَرَدُوهَا
waradūhā
they (would) have come to it
وَكُلٌّ
wakullun
And all
فِيهَا
fīhā
therein
خَـٰلِدُونَ
khālidūna
will abide forever
Had these [false deities] been [actual] gods, they would not have come to it, but all are eternal therein.

21:100
Ayah 21:100
لَهُمْ فِيهَا زَفِيرٌ وَهُمْ فِيهَا لَا يَسْمَعُونَ
لَهُمْ
lahum
For them
فِيهَا
fīhā
therein
زَفِيرٌ
zafīrun
(is) sighing
وَهُمْ
wahum
and they
فِيهَا
fīhā
therein
لَا
not
يَسْمَعُونَ
yasmaʿūna
will hear
For them therein is heavy sighing, and they therein will not hear.

21:101
Ayah 21:101
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ سَبَقَتْ لَهُم مِّنَّا ٱلْحُسْنَىٰٓ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ عَنْهَا مُبْعَدُونَ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those
سَبَقَتْ
sabaqat
has gone forth
لَهُم
lahum
for them
مِّنَّا
minnā
from Us
ٱلْحُسْنَىٰٓ
l-ḥus'nā
the good
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
those
عَنْهَا
ʿanhā
from it
مُبْعَدُونَ
mub'ʿadūna
(will be) removed far
Indeed, those for whom the best [reward] has preceded from Us - they are from it far removed.

21:102
Ayah 21:102
لَا يَسْمَعُونَ حَسِيسَهَا ۖ وَهُمْ فِى مَا ٱشْتَهَتْ أَنفُسُهُمْ خَـٰلِدُونَ
لَا
Not
يَسْمَعُونَ
yasmaʿūna
they will hear
حَسِيسَهَا
ḥasīsahā
(the) slightest sound of it
وَهُمْ
wahum
and they
فِى
in
مَا
what
ٱشْتَهَتْ
ish'tahat
desire
أَنفُسُهُمْ
anfusuhum
their souls
خَـٰلِدُونَ
khālidūna
will abide forever
They will not hear its sound, while they are, in that which their souls desire, abiding eternally.

21:103
Ayah 21:103
لَا يَحْزُنُهُمُ ٱلْفَزَعُ ٱلْأَكْبَرُ وَتَتَلَقَّىٰهُمُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ هَـٰذَا يَوْمُكُمُ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ
لَا
Not
يَحْزُنُهُمُ
yaḥzunuhumu
will grieve them
ٱلْفَزَعُ
l-fazaʿu
the terror
ٱلْأَكْبَرُ
l-akbaru
[the] greatest
وَتَتَلَقَّىٰهُمُ
watatalaqqāhumu
and will meet them
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ
l-malāikatu
the Angels
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
This
يَوْمُكُمُ
yawmukumu
(is) your Day
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
which
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you were
تُوعَدُونَ
tūʿadūna
promised
They will not be grieved by the greatest terror,1 and the angels will meet them, [saying], "This is your Day which you have been promised" -

21:104
Ayah 21:104
يَوْمَ نَطْوِى ٱلسَّمَآءَ كَطَىِّ ٱلسِّجِلِّ لِلْكُتُبِ ۚ كَمَا بَدَأْنَآ أَوَّلَ خَلْقٍ نُّعِيدُهُۥ ۚ وَعْدًا عَلَيْنَآ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا فَـٰعِلِينَ
يَوْمَ
yawma
(The) Day
نَطْوِى
naṭwī
We will fold
ٱلسَّمَآءَ
l-samāa
the heaven
كَطَىِّ
kaṭayyi
like (the) folding
ٱلسِّجِلِّ
l-sijili
(of) a scroll
لِلْكُتُبِ
lil'kutubi
for records
كَمَا
kamā
As
بَدَأْنَآ
badanā
We began
أَوَّلَ
awwala
(the) first
خَلْقٍ
khalqin
creation
نُّعِيدُهُۥ
nuʿīduhu
We will repeat it
وَعْدًا
waʿdan
a promise
عَلَيْنَآ
ʿalaynā
upon Us
إِنَّا
innā
Indeed, We
كُنَّا
kunnā
We are
فَـٰعِلِينَ
fāʿilīna
(the) Doers
The Day when We will fold the heaven like the folding of a [written] sheet for the records. As We began the first creation, We will repeat it. [That is] a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will do it.1

21:105
Ayah 21:105
وَلَقَدْ كَتَبْنَا فِى ٱلزَّبُورِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ٱلذِّكْرِ أَنَّ ٱلْأَرْضَ يَرِثُهَا عِبَادِىَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And verily
كَتَبْنَا
katabnā
We have written
فِى
in
ٱلزَّبُورِ
l-zabūri
the Scripture
مِنۢ
min
after
بَعْدِ
baʿdi
after
ٱلذِّكْرِ
l-dhik'ri
the mention
أَنَّ
anna
that
ٱلْأَرْضَ
l-arḍa
the earth
يَرِثُهَا
yarithuhā
will inherit it
عِبَادِىَ
ʿibādiya
My slaves
ٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَ
l-ṣāliḥūna
the righteous
And We have already written in the book [of Psalms]1 after the [previous] mention2 that the land [of Paradise] is inherited by My righteous servants.

21:106
Ayah 21:106
إِنَّ فِى هَـٰذَا لَبَلَـٰغًا لِّقَوْمٍ عَـٰبِدِينَ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
فِى
in
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
this
لَبَلَـٰغًا
labalāghan
surely is a Message
لِّقَوْمٍ
liqawmin
for a people
عَـٰبِدِينَ
ʿābidīna
worshippers
Indeed, in this [Qur’ān] is notification for a worshipping people.

21:107
Ayah 21:107
وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَـٰكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
وَمَآ
wamā
And not
أَرْسَلْنَـٰكَ
arsalnāka
We have sent you
إِلَّا
illā
but
رَحْمَةً
raḥmatan
(as) a mercy
لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
lil'ʿālamīna
for the worlds
And We have not sent you, [O Muḥammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.

21:108
Ayah 21:108
قُلْ إِنَّمَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ أَنَّمَآ إِلَـٰهُكُمْ إِلَـٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ ۖ فَهَلْ أَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ
قُلْ
qul
Say
إِنَّمَا
innamā
Only
يُوحَىٰٓ
yūḥā
it is revealed
إِلَىَّ
ilayya
to me
أَنَّمَآ
annamā
that
إِلَـٰهُكُمْ
ilāhukum
your god
إِلَـٰهٌ
ilāhun
(is) God
وَٰحِدٌ
wāḥidun
One
فَهَلْ
fahal
so will
أَنتُم
antum
you
مُّسْلِمُونَ
mus'limūna
submit (to Him)
Say, "It is only revealed to me that your god is but one God; so will you be Muslims [in submission to Him]?"

21:109
Ayah 21:109
فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَقُلْ ءَاذَنتُكُمْ عَلَىٰ سَوَآءٍ ۖ وَإِنْ أَدْرِىٓ أَقَرِيبٌ أَم بَعِيدٌ مَّا تُوعَدُونَ
فَإِن
fa-in
But if
تَوَلَّوْا۟
tawallaw
they turn away
فَقُلْ
faqul
then say
ءَاذَنتُكُمْ
ādhantukum
I (have) announced to you
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
equally
سَوَآءٍ
sawāin
equally
وَإِنْ
wa-in
And not
أَدْرِىٓ
adrī
I know
أَقَرِيبٌ
aqarībun
whether is near
أَم
am
or
بَعِيدٌ
baʿīdun
far
مَّا
what
تُوعَدُونَ
tūʿadūna
you are promised
But if they turn away, then say, "I have announced to [all of] you equally.1 And I know not whether near or far is that which you are promised.

21:110
Ayah 21:110
إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْلِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تَكْتُمُونَ
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, He
يَعْلَمُ
yaʿlamu
knows
ٱلْجَهْرَ
l-jahra
the declared
مِنَ
mina
[of]
ٱلْقَوْلِ
l-qawli
[the] speech
وَيَعْلَمُ
wayaʿlamu
and He knows
مَا
what
تَكْتُمُونَ
taktumūna
you conceal
Indeed, He knows what is declared of speech, and He knows what you conceal.

21:111
Ayah 21:111
وَإِنْ أَدْرِى لَعَلَّهُۥ فِتْنَةٌ لَّكُمْ وَمَتَـٰعٌ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ
وَإِنْ
wa-in
And not
أَدْرِى
adrī
I know
لَعَلَّهُۥ
laʿallahu
perhaps it may be
فِتْنَةٌ
fit'natun
a trial
لَّكُمْ
lakum
for you
وَمَتَـٰعٌ
wamatāʿun
and an enjoyment
إِلَىٰ
ilā
for
حِينٍ
ḥīnin
a time
And I know not; perhaps it1 is a trial for you and enjoyment for a time."

21:112
Ayah 21:112
قَـٰلَ رَبِّ ٱحْكُم بِٱلْحَقِّ ۗ وَرَبُّنَا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ ٱلْمُسْتَعَانُ عَلَىٰ مَا تَصِفُونَ
قَـٰلَ
qāla
He said
رَبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
ٱحْكُم
uḥ'kum
judge
بِٱلْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqi
in truth
وَرَبُّنَا
warabbunā
And our Lord
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ
l-raḥmānu
(is) the Most Gracious
ٱلْمُسْتَعَانُ
l-mus'taʿānu
the One Whose help is sought
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
against
مَا
what
تَصِفُونَ
taṣifūna
you attribute
[The Prophet (ﷺ)] has said, "My Lord, judge [between us] in truth. And our Lord is the Most Merciful, the one whose help is sought against that which you describe."1
