23:1
Ayah 23:1
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
قَدْ
qad
Indeed
أَفْلَحَ
aflaḥa
successful
ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
l-mu'minūna
(are) the believers
Certainly will the believers have succeeded:

23:2
Ayah 23:2
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى صَلَاتِهِمْ خَـٰشِعُونَ
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
Those who
هُمْ
hum
[they]
فِى
during
صَلَاتِهِمْ
ṣalātihim
their prayers
خَـٰشِعُونَ
khāshiʿūna
(are) humbly submissive
They who are during their prayer humbly intent

23:3
Ayah 23:3
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَنِ ٱللَّغْوِ مُعْرِضُونَ
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
Those who
هُمْ
hum
[they]
عَنِ
ʿani
from
ٱللَّغْوِ
l-laghwi
the vain talk
مُعْرِضُونَ
muʿ'riḍūna
turn away
And they who turn away from ill speech

23:4
Ayah 23:4
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِلزَّكَوٰةِ فَـٰعِلُونَ
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
Those who
هُمْ
hum
[they]
لِلزَّكَوٰةِ
lilzzakati
of purification works
فَـٰعِلُونَ
fāʿilūna
(are) doers
And they who are observant of zakāh

23:5
Ayah 23:5
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَـٰفِظُونَ
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
And those who
هُمْ
hum
[they]
لِفُرُوجِهِمْ
lifurūjihim
of their modesty
حَـٰفِظُونَ
ḥāfiẓūna
(are) guardians
And they who guard their private parts

23:6
Ayah 23:6
إِلَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَزْوَٰجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَـٰنُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ
إِلَّا
illā
Except
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalā
from
أَزْوَٰجِهِمْ
azwājihim
their spouses
أَوْ
aw
or
مَا
what
مَلَكَتْ
malakat
possess
أَيْمَـٰنُهُمْ
aymānuhum
their right hands
فَإِنَّهُمْ
fa-innahum
then indeed, they
غَيْرُ
ghayru
(are) not
مَلُومِينَ
malūmīna
blameworthy
Except from their wives or those their right hands possess,1 for indeed, they will not be blamed -

23:7
Ayah 23:7
فَمَنِ ٱبْتَغَىٰ وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْعَادُونَ
فَمَنِ
famani
Then whoever
ٱبْتَغَىٰ
ib'taghā
seeks
وَرَآءَ
warāa
beyond
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
that
فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
fa-ulāika
then those
هُمُ
humu
[they]
ٱلْعَادُونَ
l-ʿādūna
(are) the transgressors
But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors -

23:8
Ayah 23:8
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِأَمَـٰنَـٰتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَٰعُونَ
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
And those who
هُمْ
hum
[they]
لِأَمَـٰنَـٰتِهِمْ
li-amānātihim
of their trusts
وَعَهْدِهِمْ
waʿahdihim
and their promise(s)
رَٰعُونَ
rāʿūna
(are) observers
And they who are to their trusts and their promises attentive

23:9
Ayah 23:9
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَوَٰتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
And those who
هُمْ
hum
[they]
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
over
صَلَوَٰتِهِمْ
ṣalawātihim
their prayers
يُحَافِظُونَ
yuḥāfiẓūna
they guard
And they who carefully maintain their prayers -

23:10
Ayah 23:10
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْوَٰرِثُونَ
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
Those
هُمُ
humu
[they]
ٱلْوَٰرِثُونَ
l-wārithūna
(are) the inheritors
Those are the inheritors

23:11
Ayah 23:11
ٱلَّذِينَ يَرِثُونَ ٱلْفِرْدَوْسَ هُمْ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
Who
يَرِثُونَ
yarithūna
will inherit
ٱلْفِرْدَوْسَ
l-fir'dawsa
the Paradise
هُمْ
hum
They
فِيهَا
fīhā
therein
خَـٰلِدُونَ
khālidūna
(will) abide forever
Who will inherit al-Firdaus.1 They will abide therein eternally.

23:12
Ayah 23:12
وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن سُلَـٰلَةٍ مِّن طِينٍ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And indeed
خَلَقْنَا
khalaqnā
We created
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ
l-insāna
the humankind
مِن
min
from
سُلَـٰلَةٍ
sulālatin
an essence
مِّن
min
of
طِينٍ
ṭīnin
clay
And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay.

23:13
Ayah 23:13
ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَـٰهُ نُطْفَةً فِى قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
جَعَلْنَـٰهُ
jaʿalnāhu
We placed him
نُطْفَةً
nuṭ'fatan
(as) a semen-drop
فِى
in
قَرَارٍ
qarārin
a resting place
مَّكِينٍ
makīnin
firm
Then We placed him as a sperm-drop1 in a firm lodging [i.e., the womb].

23:14
Ayah 23:14
ثُمَّ خَلَقْنَا ٱلنُّطْفَةَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقْنَا ٱلْعَلَقَةَ مُضْغَةً فَخَلَقْنَا ٱلْمُضْغَةَ عِظَـٰمًا فَكَسَوْنَا ٱلْعِظَـٰمَ لَحْمًا ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَـٰهُ خَلْقًا ءَاخَرَ ۚ فَتَبَارَكَ ٱللَّهُ أَحْسَنُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقِينَ
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
خَلَقْنَا
khalaqnā
We created
ٱلنُّطْفَةَ
l-nuṭ'fata
the semen-drop
عَلَقَةً
ʿalaqatan
(into) a clinging substance
فَخَلَقْنَا
fakhalaqnā
then We created
ٱلْعَلَقَةَ
l-ʿalaqata
the clinging substance
مُضْغَةً
muḍ'ghatan
(into) an embryonic lump
فَخَلَقْنَا
fakhalaqnā
then We created
ٱلْمُضْغَةَ
l-muḍ'ghata
the embryonic lump
عِظَـٰمًا
ʿiẓāman
(into) bones
فَكَسَوْنَا
fakasawnā
then We clothed
ٱلْعِظَـٰمَ
l-ʿiẓāma
the bones
لَحْمًا
laḥman
(with) flesh
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
أَنشَأْنَـٰهُ
anshanāhu
We produce it
خَلْقًا
khalqan
(as) a creation
ءَاخَرَ
ākhara
another
فَتَبَارَكَ
fatabāraka
So blessed is
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
أَحْسَنُ
aḥsanu
(the) Best
ٱلْخَـٰلِقِينَ
l-khāliqīna
(of) the Creators
Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allāh, the best of creators.1

23:15
Ayah 23:15
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُم بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ لَمَيِّتُونَ
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
إِنَّكُم
innakum
indeed, you
بَعْدَ
baʿda
after
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
that
لَمَيِّتُونَ
lamayyitūna
surely (will) die
Then indeed, after that you are to die.

23:16
Ayah 23:16
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ تُبْعَثُونَ
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
إِنَّكُمْ
innakum
indeed, you
يَوْمَ
yawma
(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ
l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
تُبْعَثُونَ
tub'ʿathūna
will be resurrected
Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, will be resurrected.

23:17
Ayah 23:17
وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعَ طَرَآئِقَ وَمَا كُنَّا عَنِ ٱلْخَلْقِ غَـٰفِلِينَ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And indeed
خَلَقْنَا
khalaqnā
We (have) created
فَوْقَكُمْ
fawqakum
above you
سَبْعَ
sabʿa
seven
طَرَآئِقَ
ṭarāiqa
paths
وَمَا
wamā
and not
كُنَّا
kunnā
We are
عَنِ
ʿani
of
ٱلْخَلْقِ
l-khalqi
the creation
غَـٰفِلِينَ
ghāfilīna
unaware
And We have created above you seven layered heavens, and never have We been of [Our] creation unaware.

23:18
Ayah 23:18
وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۢ بِقَدَرٍ فَأَسْكَنَّـٰهُ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰ ذَهَابٍۭ بِهِۦ لَقَـٰدِرُونَ
وَأَنزَلْنَا
wa-anzalnā
And We send down
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāi
the sky
مَآءًۢ
māan
water
بِقَدَرٍ
biqadarin
in (due) measure
فَأَسْكَنَّـٰهُ
fa-askannāhu
then We cause it to settle
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
وَإِنَّا
wa-innā
And indeed, We
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
on
ذَهَابٍۭ
dhahābin
taking it away
بِهِۦ
bihi
taking it away
لَقَـٰدِرُونَ
laqādirūna
surely (are) Able
And We have sent down rain from the sky in a measured amount and settled it in the earth. And indeed, We are Able to take it away.

23:19
Ayah 23:19
فَأَنشَأْنَا لَكُم بِهِۦ جَنَّـٰتٍ مِّن نَّخِيلٍ وَأَعْنَـٰبٍ لَّكُمْ فِيهَا فَوَٰكِهُ كَثِيرَةٌ وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ
فَأَنشَأْنَا
fa-anshanā
Then We produced
لَكُم
lakum
for you
بِهِۦ
bihi
by it
جَنَّـٰتٍ
jannātin
gardens
مِّن
min
of date-palms
نَّخِيلٍ
nakhīlin
of date-palms
وَأَعْنَـٰبٍ
wa-aʿnābin
and grapevines
لَّكُمْ
lakum
for you
فِيهَا
fīhā
in it
فَوَٰكِهُ
fawākihu
(are) fruits
كَثِيرَةٌ
kathīratun
abundant
وَمِنْهَا
wamin'hā
and from them
تَأْكُلُونَ
takulūna
you eat
And We brought forth for you thereby gardens of palm trees and grapevines in which for you are abundant fruits and from which you eat.

23:20
Ayah 23:20
وَشَجَرَةً تَخْرُجُ مِن طُورِ سَيْنَآءَ تَنۢبُتُ بِٱلدُّهْنِ وَصِبْغٍ لِّلْـَٔاكِلِينَ
وَشَجَرَةً
washajaratan
And a tree
تَخْرُجُ
takhruju
(that) springs forth
مِن
min
from
طُورِ
ṭūri
Mount Sinai
سَيْنَآءَ
saynāa
Mount Sinai
تَنۢبُتُ
tanbutu
(which) produces
بِٱلدُّهْنِ
bil-duh'ni
oil
وَصِبْغٍ
waṣib'ghin
and a relish
لِّلْـَٔاكِلِينَ
lil'ākilīna
for those who eat
And [We brought forth] a tree issuing from Mount Sinai which produces oil and food [i.e., olives] for those who eat.

23:21
Ayah 23:21
وَإِنَّ لَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ لَعِبْرَةً ۖ نُّسْقِيكُم مِّمَّا فِى بُطُونِهَا وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَنَـٰفِعُ كَثِيرَةٌ وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ
وَإِنَّ
wa-inna
And indeed
لَكُمْ
lakum
for you
فِى
in
ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ
l-anʿāmi
the cattle
لَعِبْرَةً
laʿib'ratan
surely, (is) a lesson
نُّسْقِيكُم
nus'qīkum
We give you drink
مِّمَّا
mimmā
from what
فِى
(is) in
بُطُونِهَا
buṭūnihā
their bellies
وَلَكُمْ
walakum
and for you
فِيهَا
fīhā
in them
مَنَـٰفِعُ
manāfiʿu
(are) benefits
كَثِيرَةٌ
kathīratun
many
وَمِنْهَا
wamin'hā
and of them
تَأْكُلُونَ
takulūna
you eat
And indeed, for you in livestock is a lesson. We give you drink from that which is in their bellies, and for you in them are numerous benefits, and from them you eat.

23:22
Ayah 23:22
وَعَلَيْهَا وَعَلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ تُحْمَلُونَ
وَعَلَيْهَا
waʿalayhā
And on them
وَعَلَى
waʿalā
and on
ٱلْفُلْكِ
l-ful'ki
[the] ships
تُحْمَلُونَ
tuḥ'malūna
you are carried
And upon them and on ships you are carried.

23:23
Ayah 23:23
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ فَقَالَ يَـٰقَوْمِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَـٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۥٓ ۖ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And verily
أَرْسَلْنَا
arsalnā
We sent
نُوحًا
nūḥan
Nuh
إِلَىٰ
ilā
to
قَوْمِهِۦ
qawmihi
his people
فَقَالَ
faqāla
and he said
يَـٰقَوْمِ
yāqawmi
O my people
ٱعْبُدُوا۟
uʿ'budū
Worship
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
مَا
not
لَكُم
lakum
for you
مِّنْ
min
(is) any
إِلَـٰهٍ
ilāhin
god
غَيْرُهُۥٓ
ghayruhu
other than Him
أَفَلَا
afalā
Then will not
تَتَّقُونَ
tattaqūna
you fear
And We had certainly sent Noah to his people, and he said, "O my people, worship Allāh; you have no deity other than Him; then will you not fear Him?"

23:24
Ayah 23:24
فَقَالَ ٱلْمَلَؤُا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن قَوْمِهِۦ مَا هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ يُرِيدُ أَن يَتَفَضَّلَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَأَنزَلَ مَلَـٰٓئِكَةً مَّا سَمِعْنَا بِهَـٰذَا فِىٓ ءَابَآئِنَا ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
فَقَالَ
faqāla
But said
ٱلْمَلَؤُا۟
l-mala-u
the chiefs
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
(of) those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieved
مِن
min
among
قَوْمِهِۦ
qawmihi
his people
مَا
This is not
هَـٰذَآ
hādhā
This is not
إِلَّا
illā
but
بَشَرٌ
basharun
a man
مِّثْلُكُمْ
mith'lukum
like you
يُرِيدُ
yurīdu
he wishes
أَن
an
to
يَتَفَضَّلَ
yatafaḍḍala
assert (his) superiority
عَلَيْكُمْ
ʿalaykum
over you
وَلَوْ
walaw
and if
شَآءَ
shāa
Allah had willed
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah had willed
لَأَنزَلَ
la-anzala
surely He (would have) sent down
مَلَـٰٓئِكَةً
malāikatan
Angels
مَّا
Not
سَمِعْنَا
samiʿ'nā
we heard
بِهَـٰذَا
bihādhā
of this
فِىٓ
from
ءَابَآئِنَا
ābāinā
our forefathers
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
l-awalīna
our forefathers
But the eminent among those who disbelieved from his people said, "This is not but a man like yourselves who wishes to take precedence over you; and if Allāh had willed [to send a messenger], He would have sent down angels. We have not heard of this among our forefathers.

23:25
Ayah 23:25
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلٌۢ بِهِۦ جِنَّةٌ فَتَرَبَّصُوا۟ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ
إِنْ
in
Not
هُوَ
huwa
he
إِلَّا
illā
(is) but
رَجُلٌۢ
rajulun
a man
بِهِۦ
bihi
in him
جِنَّةٌ
jinnatun
(is) madness
فَتَرَبَّصُوا۟
fatarabbaṣū
so wait
بِهِۦ
bihi
concerning him
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattā
until
حِينٍ
ḥīnin
a time
He is not but a man possessed with madness, so wait concerning him for a time."

23:26
Ayah 23:26
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱنصُرْنِى بِمَا كَذَّبُونِ
قَالَ
qāla
He said
رَبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
ٱنصُرْنِى
unṣur'nī
Help me
بِمَا
bimā
because
كَذَّبُونِ
kadhabūni
they deny me
[Noah] said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me."

23:27
Ayah 23:27
فَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْهِ أَنِ ٱصْنَعِ ٱلْفُلْكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا وَوَحْيِنَا فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَمْرُنَا وَفَارَ ٱلتَّنُّورُ ۙ فَٱسْلُكْ فِيهَا مِن كُلٍّ زَوْجَيْنِ ٱثْنَيْنِ وَأَهْلَكَ إِلَّا مَن سَبَقَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلْقَوْلُ مِنْهُمْ ۖ وَلَا تُخَـٰطِبْنِى فِى ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ ۖ إِنَّهُم مُّغْرَقُونَ
فَأَوْحَيْنَآ
fa-awḥaynā
So We inspired
إِلَيْهِ
ilayhi
to him
أَنِ
ani
That
ٱصْنَعِ
iṣ'naʿi
construct
ٱلْفُلْكَ
l-ful'ka
the ship
بِأَعْيُنِنَا
bi-aʿyuninā
under Our eyes
وَوَحْيِنَا
wawaḥyinā
and Our inspiration
فَإِذَا
fa-idhā
then when
جَآءَ
jāa
comes
أَمْرُنَا
amrunā
Our Command
وَفَارَ
wafāra
and gushes forth
ٱلتَّنُّورُ
l-tanūru
the oven
فَٱسْلُكْ
fa-us'luk
then put
فِيهَا
fīhā
into it
مِن
min
of
كُلٍّ
kullin
every (kind)
زَوْجَيْنِ
zawjayni
(of) mates
ٱثْنَيْنِ
ith'nayni
two
وَأَهْلَكَ
wa-ahlaka
and your family
إِلَّا
illā
except
مَن
man
those
سَبَقَ
sabaqa
(has) preceded
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhi
against whom
ٱلْقَوْلُ
l-qawlu
the Word
مِنْهُمْ
min'hum
thereof
وَلَا
walā
And (do) not
تُخَـٰطِبْنِى
tukhāṭib'nī
address Me
فِى
concerning
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
ظَلَمُوٓا۟
ẓalamū
wronged
إِنَّهُم
innahum
indeed, they
مُّغْرَقُونَ
mugh'raqūna
(are) the ones to be drowned
So We inspired to him, "Construct the ship under Our observation and Our inspiration, and when Our command comes and the oven overflows,1 put into it [i.e., the ship] from each [creature] two mates and your family, except him for whom the decree [of destruction] has proceeded. And do not address Me concerning those who have wronged; indeed, they are to be drowned.

23:28
Ayah 23:28
فَإِذَا ٱسْتَوَيْتَ أَنتَ وَمَن مَّعَكَ عَلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ فَقُلِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِى نَجَّىٰنَا مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
فَإِذَا
fa-idhā
And when
ٱسْتَوَيْتَ
is'tawayta
you (have) boarded
أَنتَ
anta
you
وَمَن
waman
and whoever
مَّعَكَ
maʿaka
(is) with you
عَلَى
ʿalā
[on]
ٱلْفُلْكِ
l-ful'ki
the ship
فَقُلِ
faquli
then say
ٱلْحَمْدُ
l-ḥamdu
Praise
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
(be) to Allah
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
Who
نَجَّىٰنَا
najjānā
(has) saved us
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلْقَوْمِ
l-qawmi
the people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīna
the wrongdoers
And when you have boarded the ship, you and those with you, then say, 'Praise to Allāh who has saved us from the wrongdoing people.'

23:29
Ayah 23:29
وَقُل رَّبِّ أَنزِلْنِى مُنزَلًا مُّبَارَكًا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلْمُنزِلِينَ
وَقُل
waqul
And say
رَّبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
أَنزِلْنِى
anzil'nī
cause me to land
مُنزَلًا
munzalan
(at) a landing place
مُّبَارَكًا
mubārakan
blessed
وَأَنتَ
wa-anta
and You
خَيْرُ
khayru
(are) the Best
ٱلْمُنزِلِينَ
l-munzilīna
(of) those who cause to land.'
And say, 'My Lord, let me land at a blessed landing place, and You are the best to accommodate [us].'"

23:30
Ayah 23:30
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ وَإِن كُنَّا لَمُبْتَلِينَ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
فِى
in
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
that
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ
laāyātin
surely (are) Signs
وَإِن
wa-in
and indeed
كُنَّا
kunnā
We are
لَمُبْتَلِينَ
lamub'talīna
surely testing
Indeed in that are signs, and indeed, We are ever testing [Our servants].

23:31
Ayah 23:31
ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ قَرْنًا ءَاخَرِينَ
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
أَنشَأْنَا
anshanā
We produced
مِنۢ
min
after them
بَعْدِهِمْ
baʿdihim
after them
قَرْنًا
qarnan
a generation
ءَاخَرِينَ
ākharīna
another
Then We produced after them a generation of others.

23:32
Ayah 23:32
فَأَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِمْ رَسُولًا مِّنْهُمْ أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَـٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۥٓ ۖ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
فَأَرْسَلْنَا
fa-arsalnā
And We sent
فِيهِمْ
fīhim
among them
رَسُولًا
rasūlan
a Messenger
مِّنْهُمْ
min'hum
from themselves
أَنِ
ani
[that]
ٱعْبُدُوا۟
uʿ'budū
Worship
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
مَا
not
لَكُم
lakum
for you
مِّنْ
min
(is) any
إِلَـٰهٍ
ilāhin
god
غَيْرُهُۥٓ
ghayruhu
other than Him
أَفَلَا
afalā
Then will not
تَتَّقُونَ
tattaqūna
you fear
And We sent among them a messenger1 from themselves, [saying], "Worship Allāh; you have no deity other than Him; then will you not fear Him?"

23:33
Ayah 23:33
وَقَالَ ٱلْمَلَأُ مِن قَوْمِهِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِلِقَآءِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَأَتْرَفْنَـٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا مَا هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ يَأْكُلُ مِمَّا تَأْكُلُونَ مِنْهُ وَيَشْرَبُ مِمَّا تَشْرَبُونَ
وَقَالَ
waqāla
And said
ٱلْمَلَأُ
l-mala-u
the chiefs
مِن
min
of
قَوْمِهِ
qawmihi
his people
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieved
وَكَذَّبُوا۟
wakadhabū
and denied
بِلِقَآءِ
biliqāi
(the) meeting
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
l-ākhirati
(of) the Hereafter
وَأَتْرَفْنَـٰهُمْ
wa-atrafnāhum
while We had given them luxury
فِى
in
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
l-ḥayati
the life
ٱلدُّنْيَا
l-dun'yā
(of) the world
مَا
Not
هَـٰذَآ
hādhā
(is) this
إِلَّا
illā
but
بَشَرٌ
basharun
a man
مِّثْلُكُمْ
mith'lukum
like you
يَأْكُلُ
yakulu
He eats
مِمَّا
mimmā
of what
تَأْكُلُونَ
takulūna
you eat
مِنْهُ
min'hu
[from it]
وَيَشْرَبُ
wayashrabu
and he drinks
مِمَّا
mimmā
of what
تَشْرَبُونَ
tashrabūna
you drink
And the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink.

23:34
Ayah 23:34
وَلَئِنْ أَطَعْتُم بَشَرًا مِّثْلَكُمْ إِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّخَـٰسِرُونَ
وَلَئِنْ
wala-in
And surely if
أَطَعْتُم
aṭaʿtum
you obey
بَشَرًا
basharan
a man
مِّثْلَكُمْ
mith'lakum
like you
إِنَّكُمْ
innakum
indeed, you
إِذًا
idhan
then
لَّخَـٰسِرُونَ
lakhāsirūna
surely (will be) losers
And if you should obey a man like yourselves, indeed, you would then be losers.

23:35
Ayah 23:35
أَيَعِدُكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ إِذَا مِتُّمْ وَكُنتُمْ تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَنَّكُم مُّخْرَجُونَ
أَيَعِدُكُمْ
ayaʿidukum
Does he promise you
أَنَّكُمْ
annakum
that you
إِذَا
idhā
when
مِتُّمْ
mittum
you are dead
وَكُنتُمْ
wakuntum
and you become
تُرَابًا
turāban
dust
وَعِظَـٰمًا
waʿiẓāman
and bones
أَنَّكُم
annakum
that you
مُّخْرَجُونَ
mukh'rajūna
(will be) brought forth
Does he promise you that when you have died and become dust and bones that you will be brought forth [once more]?

23:36
Ayah 23:36
۞ هَيْهَاتَ هَيْهَاتَ لِمَا تُوعَدُونَ
هَيْهَاتَ
hayhāta
Far-(fetched)
هَيْهَاتَ
hayhāta
far-(fetched)
لِمَا
limā
is what
تُوعَدُونَ
tūʿadūna
you are promised
How far, how far, is that which you are promised.1

23:37
Ayah 23:37
إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا ٱلدُّنْيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحْيَا وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَبْعُوثِينَ
إِنْ
in
Not
هِىَ
hiya
it
إِلَّا
illā
(is) but
حَيَاتُنَا
ḥayātunā
our life
ٱلدُّنْيَا
l-dun'yā
(of) the world
نَمُوتُ
namūtu
we die
وَنَحْيَا
wanaḥyā
and we live
وَمَا
wamā
and not
نَحْنُ
naḥnu
we
بِمَبْعُوثِينَ
bimabʿūthīna
(will be) resurrected
It [i.e., life] is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected.

23:38
Ayah 23:38
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلٌ ٱفْتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا وَمَا نَحْنُ لَهُۥ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ
إِنْ
in
Not
هُوَ
huwa
(is) he
إِلَّا
illā
but
رَجُلٌ
rajulun
a man
ٱفْتَرَىٰ
if'tarā
who (has) invented
عَلَى
ʿalā
about
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
كَذِبًا
kadhiban
a lie
وَمَا
wamā
and not
نَحْنُ
naḥnu
we
لَهُۥ
lahu
(in) him
بِمُؤْمِنِينَ
bimu'minīna
(are) believers
He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allāh, and we will not believe him."

23:39
Ayah 23:39
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱنصُرْنِى بِمَا كَذَّبُونِ
قَالَ
qāla
He said
رَبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
ٱنصُرْنِى
unṣur'nī
Help me
بِمَا
bimā
because
كَذَّبُونِ
kadhabūni
they deny me
He said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me."

23:40
Ayah 23:40
قَالَ عَمَّا قَلِيلٍ لَّيُصْبِحُنَّ نَـٰدِمِينَ
قَالَ
qāla
He said
عَمَّا
ʿammā
After a little while
قَلِيلٍ
qalīlin
After a little while
لَّيُصْبِحُنَّ
layuṣ'biḥunna
surely they will become
نَـٰدِمِينَ
nādimīna
regretful
[Allāh] said, "After a little, they will surely become regretful."

23:41
Ayah 23:41
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّيْحَةُ بِٱلْحَقِّ فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ غُثَآءً ۚ فَبُعْدًا لِّلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ
fa-akhadhathumu
So seized them
ٱلصَّيْحَةُ
l-ṣayḥatu
the awful cry
بِٱلْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqi
in truth
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ
fajaʿalnāhum
and We made them
غُثَآءً
ghuthāan
(as) rubbish of dead leaves
فَبُعْدًا
fabuʿ'dan
So away
لِّلْقَوْمِ
lil'qawmi
with the people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīna
the wrongdoers
So the shriek1 seized them in truth,2 and We made them as [plant] stubble. Then away with the wrongdoing people.

23:42
Ayah 23:42
ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ قُرُونًا ءَاخَرِينَ
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
أَنشَأْنَا
anshanā
We produced
مِنۢ
min
after them
بَعْدِهِمْ
baʿdihim
after them
قُرُونًا
qurūnan
a generation
ءَاخَرِينَ
ākharīna
another
Then We produced after them other generations.

23:43
Ayah 23:43
مَا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ
مَا
Not
تَسْبِقُ
tasbiqu
can precede
مِنْ
min
any
أُمَّةٍ
ummatin
nation
أَجَلَهَا
ajalahā
its term
وَمَا
wamā
and not
يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ
yastakhirūna
they (can) delay (it)
No nation will precede its time [of termination], nor will they remain [thereafter].

23:44
Ayah 23:44
ثُمَّ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلَنَا تَتْرَا ۖ كُلَّ مَا جَآءَ أُمَّةً رَّسُولُهَا كَذَّبُوهُ ۚ فَأَتْبَعْنَا بَعْضَهُم بَعْضًا وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ أَحَادِيثَ ۚ فَبُعْدًا لِّقَوْمٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
أَرْسَلْنَا
arsalnā
We sent
رُسُلَنَا
rusulanā
Our Messengers
تَتْرَا
tatrā
(in) succession
كُلَّ
kulla
Every time
مَا
Every time
جَآءَ
jāa
came
أُمَّةً
ummatan
(to) a nation
رَّسُولُهَا
rasūluhā
its Messenger
كَذَّبُوهُ
kadhabūhu
they denied him
فَأَتْبَعْنَا
fa-atbaʿnā
so We made (them) follow
بَعْضَهُم
baʿḍahum
some of them
بَعْضًا
baʿḍan
others
وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ
wajaʿalnāhum
and We made them
أَحَادِيثَ
aḥādītha
narrations
فَبُعْدًا
fabuʿ'dan
So away
لِّقَوْمٍ
liqawmin
with a people
لَّا
not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūna
they believe
Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations.1 So away with a people who do not believe.

23:45
Ayah 23:45
ثُمَّ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَأَخَاهُ هَـٰرُونَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا وَسُلْطَـٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
أَرْسَلْنَا
arsalnā
We sent
مُوسَىٰ
mūsā
Musa
وَأَخَاهُ
wa-akhāhu
and his brother
هَـٰرُونَ
hārūna
Harun
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا
biāyātinā
with Our Signs
وَسُلْطَـٰنٍ
wasul'ṭānin
and an authority
مُّبِينٍ
mubīnin
clear
Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority1

23:46
Ayah 23:46
إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَإِي۟هِۦ فَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ قَوْمًا عَالِينَ
إِلَىٰ
ilā
To
فِرْعَوْنَ
fir'ʿawna
Firaun
وَمَلَإِي۟هِۦ
wamala-ihi
and his chiefs
فَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟
fa-is'takbarū
but they behaved arrogantly
وَكَانُوا۟
wakānū
and they were
قَوْمًا
qawman
a people
عَالِينَ
ʿālīna
haughty
To Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were arrogant and were a haughty people.

23:47
Ayah 23:47
فَقَالُوٓا۟ أَنُؤْمِنُ لِبَشَرَيْنِ مِثْلِنَا وَقَوْمُهُمَا لَنَا عَـٰبِدُونَ
فَقَالُوٓا۟
faqālū
Then they said
أَنُؤْمِنُ
anu'minu
Shall we believe
لِبَشَرَيْنِ
libasharayni
(in) two men
مِثْلِنَا
mith'linā
like ourselves
وَقَوْمُهُمَا
waqawmuhumā
while their people
لَنَا
lanā
for us
عَـٰبِدُونَ
ʿābidūna
(are) slaves
They said, "Should we believe two men like ourselves while their people are for us in servitude?"

23:48
Ayah 23:48
فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَكَانُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْمُهْلَكِينَ
فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا
fakadhabūhumā
So they denied them
فَكَانُوا۟
fakānū
and they became
مِنَ
mina
of
ٱلْمُهْلَكِينَ
l-muh'lakīna
those who were destroyed
So they denied them and were of those destroyed.

23:49
Ayah 23:49
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And verily
ءَاتَيْنَا
ātaynā
We gave
مُوسَى
mūsā
Musa
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ
l-kitāba
the Scripture
لَعَلَّهُمْ
laʿallahum
so that they may
يَهْتَدُونَ
yahtadūna
be guided
And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture that perhaps they1 would be guided.

23:50
Ayah 23:50
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَأُمَّهُۥٓ ءَايَةً وَءَاوَيْنَـٰهُمَآ إِلَىٰ رَبْوَةٍ ذَاتِ قَرَارٍ وَمَعِينٍ
وَجَعَلْنَا
wajaʿalnā
And We made
ٱبْنَ
ib'na
(the) son
مَرْيَمَ
maryama
(of) Maryam
وَأُمَّهُۥٓ
wa-ummahu
and his mother
ءَايَةً
āyatan
a Sign
وَءَاوَيْنَـٰهُمَآ
waāwaynāhumā
and We sheltered them
إِلَىٰ
ilā
to
رَبْوَةٍ
rabwatin
a high ground
ذَاتِ
dhāti
of tranquility
قَرَارٍ
qarārin
of tranquility
وَمَعِينٍ
wamaʿīnin
and water springs
And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and sheltered them within a high ground having level [areas] and flowing water.

23:51
Ayah 23:51
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلرُّسُلُ كُلُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ وَٱعْمَلُوا۟ صَـٰلِحًا ۖ إِنِّى بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ عَلِيمٌ
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
yāayyuhā
O Messengers
ٱلرُّسُلُ
l-rusulu
O Messengers
كُلُوا۟
kulū
Eat
مِنَ
mina
of
ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ
l-ṭayibāti
the good things
وَٱعْمَلُوا۟
wa-iʿ'malū
and do
صَـٰلِحًا
ṣāliḥan
righteous (deeds)
إِنِّى
innī
Indeed, I Am
بِمَا
bimā
of what
تَعْمَلُونَ
taʿmalūna
you do
عَلِيمٌ
ʿalīmun
All-Knower
[Allāh said], "O messengers, eat from the good foods and work righteousness. Indeed I, of what you do, am Knowing.

23:52
Ayah 23:52
وَإِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦٓ أُمَّتُكُمْ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً وَأَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمْ فَٱتَّقُونِ
وَإِنَّ
wa-inna
And indeed
هَـٰذِهِۦٓ
hādhihi
this
أُمَّتُكُمْ
ummatukum
your religion
أُمَّةً
ummatan
(is) religion
وَٰحِدَةً
wāḥidatan
one
وَأَنَا۠
wa-anā
And I Am
رَبُّكُمْ
rabbukum
your Lord
فَٱتَّقُونِ
fa-ittaqūni
so fear Me
And indeed this, your religion, is one religion,1 and I am your Lord, so fear Me."

23:53
Ayah 23:53
فَتَقَطَّعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَهُم بَيْنَهُمْ زُبُرًا ۖ كُلُّ حِزْبٍۭ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ فَرِحُونَ
فَتَقَطَّعُوٓا۟
fataqaṭṭaʿū
But they cut off
أَمْرَهُم
amrahum
their affair (of unity)
بَيْنَهُمْ
baynahum
between them
زُبُرًا
zuburan
(into) sects
كُلُّ
kullu
each
حِزْبٍۭ
ḥiz'bin
faction
بِمَا
bimā
in what
لَدَيْهِمْ
ladayhim
they have
فَرِحُونَ
fariḥūna
rejoicing
But they [i.e., the people] divided their religion among them into portions [i.e., sects] - each faction, in what it has,1 rejoicing.

23:54
Ayah 23:54
فَذَرْهُمْ فِى غَمْرَتِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ
فَذَرْهُمْ
fadharhum
So leave them
فِى
in
غَمْرَتِهِمْ
ghamratihim
their confusion
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattā
until
حِينٍ
ḥīnin
a time
So leave them in their confusion for a time.

23:55
Ayah 23:55
أَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّمَا نُمِدُّهُم بِهِۦ مِن مَّالٍ وَبَنِينَ
أَيَحْسَبُونَ
ayaḥsabūna
Do they think
أَنَّمَا
annamā
that what
نُمِدُّهُم
numidduhum
We extend to them
بِهِۦ
bihi
[with it]
مِن
min
of
مَّالٍ
mālin
wealth
وَبَنِينَ
wabanīna
and children
Do they think that what We extend to them of wealth and children

23:56
Ayah 23:56
نُسَارِعُ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ ۚ بَل لَّا يَشْعُرُونَ
نُسَارِعُ
nusāriʿu
We hasten
لَهُمْ
lahum
to them
فِى
in
ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ
l-khayrāti
the good
بَل
bal
Nay
لَّا
not
يَشْعُرُونَ
yashʿurūna
they perceive
Is [because] We hasten for them good things? Rather, they do not perceive.1

23:57
Ayah 23:57
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ هُم مِّنْ خَشْيَةِ رَبِّهِم مُّشْفِقُونَ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
هُم
hum
[they]
مِّنْ
min
from
خَشْيَةِ
khashyati
(the) fear
رَبِّهِم
rabbihim
(of) their Lord
مُّشْفِقُونَ
mush'fiqūna
(are) cautious
Indeed, they who are apprehensive from fear of their Lord

23:58
Ayah 23:58
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِـَٔايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ يُؤْمِنُونَ
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
And those
هُم
hum
[they]
بِـَٔايَـٰتِ
biāyāti
in (the) Signs
رَبِّهِمْ
rabbihim
(of) their Lord
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūna
believe
And they who believe in the signs of their Lord

23:59
Ayah 23:59
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِرَبِّهِمْ لَا يُشْرِكُونَ
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
And those
هُم
hum
[they]
بِرَبِّهِمْ
birabbihim
with their Lord
لَا
(do) not
يُشْرِكُونَ
yush'rikūna
associate partners
And they who do not associate anything with their Lord

23:60
Ayah 23:60
وَٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْتُونَ مَآ ءَاتَوا۟ وَّقُلُوبُهُمْ وَجِلَةٌ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ رَٰجِعُونَ
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
And those who
يُؤْتُونَ
yu'tūna
give
مَآ
what
ءَاتَوا۟
ātaw
they give
وَّقُلُوبُهُمْ
waqulūbuhum
while their hearts
وَجِلَةٌ
wajilatun
(are) fearful
أَنَّهُمْ
annahum
because they
إِلَىٰ
ilā
to
رَبِّهِمْ
rabbihim
their Lord
رَٰجِعُونَ
rājiʿūna
(will) return
And they who give what they give while their hearts are fearful1 because they will be returning to their Lord -

23:61
Ayah 23:61
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ يُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ وَهُمْ لَهَا سَـٰبِقُونَ
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
(It is) those
يُسَـٰرِعُونَ
yusāriʿūna
who hasten
فِى
in
ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ
l-khayrāti
the good (deeds)
وَهُمْ
wahum
and they
لَهَا
lahā
in them
سَـٰبِقُونَ
sābiqūna
(are) foremost
It is those who hasten to good deeds, and they outstrip [others] therein.

23:62
Ayah 23:62
وَلَا نُكَلِّفُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا ۖ وَلَدَيْنَا كِتَـٰبٌ يَنطِقُ بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ
وَلَا
walā
And not
نُكَلِّفُ
nukallifu
We burden
نَفْسًا
nafsan
any soul
إِلَّا
illā
except
وُسْعَهَا
wus'ʿahā
(to) its capacity
وَلَدَيْنَا
waladaynā
and with Us
كِتَـٰبٌ
kitābun
(is) a Record
يَنطِقُ
yanṭiqu
(which) speaks
بِٱلْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqi
with the truth
وَهُمْ
wahum
and they
لَا
(will) not
يُظْلَمُونَ
yuẓ'lamūna
be wronged
And We charge no soul except [with that within] its capacity, and with Us is a record which speaks with truth; and they will not be wronged.

23:63
Ayah 23:63
بَلْ قُلُوبُهُمْ فِى غَمْرَةٍ مِّنْ هَـٰذَا وَلَهُمْ أَعْمَـٰلٌ مِّن دُونِ ذَٰلِكَ هُمْ لَهَا عَـٰمِلُونَ
بَلْ
bal
Nay
قُلُوبُهُمْ
qulūbuhum
their hearts
فِى
(are) in
غَمْرَةٍ
ghamratin
confusion
مِّنْ
min
over
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
this
وَلَهُمْ
walahum
and for them
أَعْمَـٰلٌ
aʿmālun
(are) deeds
مِّن
min
besides
دُونِ
dūni
besides
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
that
هُمْ
hum
they
لَهَا
lahā
for it
عَـٰمِلُونَ
ʿāmilūna
(are) doers
But their hearts are covered with confusion over this, and they have [evil] deeds besides that [i.e., disbelief] which they are doing,

23:64
Ayah 23:64
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَخَذْنَا مُتْرَفِيهِم بِٱلْعَذَابِ إِذَا هُمْ يَجْـَٔرُونَ
حَتَّىٰٓ
ḥattā
Until
إِذَآ
idhā
when
أَخَذْنَا
akhadhnā
We seize
مُتْرَفِيهِم
mut'rafīhim
their affluent ones
بِٱلْعَذَابِ
bil-ʿadhābi
with the punishment
إِذَا
idhā
behold
هُمْ
hum
They
يَجْـَٔرُونَ
yajarūna
cry for help
Until when We seize their affluent ones with punishment,1 at once they are crying [to Allāh] for help.

23:65
Ayah 23:65
لَا تَجْـَٔرُوا۟ ٱلْيَوْمَ ۖ إِنَّكُم مِّنَّا لَا تُنصَرُونَ
لَا
(Do) not
تَجْـَٔرُوا۟
tajarū
cry for help
ٱلْيَوْمَ
l-yawma
today
إِنَّكُم
innakum
Indeed, you
مِّنَّا
minnā
from Us
لَا
not
تُنصَرُونَ
tunṣarūna
will be helped
Do not cry out today. Indeed, by Us you will not be helped.

23:66
Ayah 23:66
قَدْ كَانَتْ ءَايَـٰتِى تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ فَكُنتُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْقَـٰبِكُمْ تَنكِصُونَ
قَدْ
qad
Verily
كَانَتْ
kānat
were
ءَايَـٰتِى
āyātī
My Verses
تُتْلَىٰ
tut'lā
recited
عَلَيْكُمْ
ʿalaykum
to you
فَكُنتُمْ
fakuntum
but you used
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalā
(to) on
أَعْقَـٰبِكُمْ
aʿqābikum
your heels
تَنكِصُونَ
tankiṣūna
turn back
My verses had already been recited to you, but you were turning back on your heels.

23:67
Ayah 23:67
مُسْتَكْبِرِينَ بِهِۦ سَـٰمِرًا تَهْجُرُونَ
مُسْتَكْبِرِينَ
mus'takbirīna
(Being) arrogant
بِهِۦ
bihi
about it
سَـٰمِرًا
sāmiran
conversing by night
تَهْجُرُونَ
tahjurūna
speaking evil
In arrogance regarding it,1 conversing by night, speaking evil.

23:68
Ayah 23:68
أَفَلَمْ يَدَّبَّرُوا۟ ٱلْقَوْلَ أَمْ جَآءَهُم مَّا لَمْ يَأْتِ ءَابَآءَهُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
أَفَلَمْ
afalam
Then, do not
يَدَّبَّرُوا۟
yaddabbarū
they ponder
ٱلْقَوْلَ
l-qawla
the Word
أَمْ
am
or
جَآءَهُم
jāahum
has come to them
مَّا
what
لَمْ
lam
not
يَأْتِ
yati
(had) come
ءَابَآءَهُمُ
ābāahumu
(to) their forefathers
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
l-awalīna
(to) their forefathers
Then have they not reflected over the word [i.e., the Qur’ān], or has there come to them that which had not come to their forefathers?

23:69
Ayah 23:69
أَمْ لَمْ يَعْرِفُوا۟ رَسُولَهُمْ فَهُمْ لَهُۥ مُنكِرُونَ
أَمْ
am
Or
لَمْ
lam
(do) not
يَعْرِفُوا۟
yaʿrifū
they recognize
رَسُولَهُمْ
rasūlahum
their Messenger
فَهُمْ
fahum
so they
لَهُۥ
lahu
(are) rejecting him
مُنكِرُونَ
munkirūna
(are) rejecting him
Or did they not know their Messenger, so they are toward him disacknowledging?

23:70
Ayah 23:70
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ بِهِۦ جِنَّةٌۢ ۚ بَلْ جَآءَهُم بِٱلْحَقِّ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ لِلْحَقِّ كَـٰرِهُونَ
أَمْ
am
Or
يَقُولُونَ
yaqūlūna
they say
بِهِۦ
bihi
In him
جِنَّةٌۢ
jinnatun
(is) madness
بَلْ
bal
Nay
جَآءَهُم
jāahum
he brought them
بِٱلْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqi
the truth
وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ
wa-aktharuhum
but most of them
لِلْحَقِّ
lil'ḥaqqi
to the truth
كَـٰرِهُونَ
kārihūna
(are) averse
Or do they say, "In him is madness"? Rather, he brought them the truth, but most of them, to the truth, are averse.

23:71
Ayah 23:71
وَلَوِ ٱتَّبَعَ ٱلْحَقُّ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ لَفَسَدَتِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ وَمَن فِيهِنَّ ۚ بَلْ أَتَيْنَـٰهُم بِذِكْرِهِمْ فَهُمْ عَن ذِكْرِهِم مُّعْرِضُونَ
وَلَوِ
walawi
But if
ٱتَّبَعَ
ittabaʿa
(had) followed
ٱلْحَقُّ
l-ḥaqu
the truth
أَهْوَآءَهُمْ
ahwāahum
their desires
لَفَسَدَتِ
lafasadati
surely (would) have been corrupted
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتُ
l-samāwātu
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضُ
wal-arḍu
and the earth
وَمَن
waman
and whoever
فِيهِنَّ
fīhinna
(is) therein
بَلْ
bal
Nay
أَتَيْنَـٰهُم
ataynāhum
We have brought them
بِذِكْرِهِمْ
bidhik'rihim
their reminder
فَهُمْ
fahum
but they
عَن
ʿan
from
ذِكْرِهِم
dhik'rihim
their reminder
مُّعْرِضُونَ
muʿ'riḍūna
(are) turning away
But if the Truth [i.e., Allāh] had followed their inclinations, the heavens and the earth and whoever is in them would have been ruined. Rather, We have brought them their message,1 but they, from their message, are turning away.

23:72
Ayah 23:72
أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ خَرْجًا فَخَرَاجُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌ ۖ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ
أَمْ
am
Or
تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ
tasaluhum
you ask them
خَرْجًا
kharjan
(for) a payment
فَخَرَاجُ
fakharāju
But the payment
رَبِّكَ
rabbika
(of) your Lord
خَيْرٌ
khayrun
(is) best
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
and He
خَيْرُ
khayru
(is) the Best
ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ
l-rāziqīna
(of) the Providers
Or do you, [O Muḥammad], ask them for payment? But the reward of your Lord is best, and He is the best of providers.

23:73
Ayah 23:73
وَإِنَّكَ لَتَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ
وَإِنَّكَ
wa-innaka
And indeed, you
لَتَدْعُوهُمْ
latadʿūhum
certainly call them
إِلَىٰ
ilā
to
صِرَٰطٍ
ṣirāṭin
(the) Path
مُّسْتَقِيمٍ
mus'taqīmin
Straight
And indeed, you invite them to a straight path.

23:74
Ayah 23:74
وَإِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ عَنِ ٱلصِّرَٰطِ لَنَـٰكِبُونَ
وَإِنَّ
wa-inna
And indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
لَا
(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūna
believe
بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
bil-ākhirati
in the Hereafter
عَنِ
ʿani
from
ٱلصِّرَٰطِ
l-ṣirāṭi
the path
لَنَـٰكِبُونَ
lanākibūna
surely (are) deviating
But indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviating from the path.

23:75
Ayah 23:75
۞ وَلَوْ رَحِمْنَـٰهُمْ وَكَشَفْنَا مَا بِهِم مِّن ضُرٍّ لَّلَجُّوا۟ فِى طُغْيَـٰنِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ
وَلَوْ
walaw
And if
رَحِمْنَـٰهُمْ
raḥim'nāhum
We had mercy on them
وَكَشَفْنَا
wakashafnā
and We removed
مَا
what
بِهِم
bihim
(was) on them
مِّن
min
of
ضُرٍّ
ḍurrin
(the) hardship
لَّلَجُّوا۟
lalajjū
surely they would persist
فِى
in
طُغْيَـٰنِهِمْ
ṭugh'yānihim
their transgression
يَعْمَهُونَ
yaʿmahūna
wandering blindly
And even if We gave them mercy and removed what was upon them of affliction, they would persist in their transgression, wandering blindly.

23:76
Ayah 23:76
وَلَقَدْ أَخَذْنَـٰهُم بِٱلْعَذَابِ فَمَا ٱسْتَكَانُوا۟ لِرَبِّهِمْ وَمَا يَتَضَرَّعُونَ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And verily
أَخَذْنَـٰهُم
akhadhnāhum
We seized them
بِٱلْعَذَابِ
bil-ʿadhābi
with the punishment
فَمَا
famā
but not
ٱسْتَكَانُوا۟
is'takānū
they submit
لِرَبِّهِمْ
lirabbihim
to their Lord
وَمَا
wamā
and not
يَتَضَرَّعُونَ
yataḍarraʿūna
they supplicate humbly
And We had gripped them with suffering [as a warning], but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus]

23:77
Ayah 23:77
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِم بَابًا ذَا عَذَابٍ شَدِيدٍ إِذَا هُمْ فِيهِ مُبْلِسُونَ
حَتَّىٰٓ
ḥattā
Until
إِذَا
idhā
when
فَتَحْنَا
fataḥnā
We opened
عَلَيْهِم
ʿalayhim
for them
بَابًا
bāban
a gate
ذَا
dhā
of a punishment
عَذَابٍ
ʿadhābin
of a punishment
شَدِيدٍ
shadīdin
severe
إِذَا
idhā
behold
هُمْ
hum
They
فِيهِ
fīhi
in it
مُبْلِسُونَ
mub'lisūna
(will be in) despair
Until when We have opened before them a door of severe punishment, immediately they will be therein in despair.

23:78
Ayah 23:78
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنشَأَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَ وَٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةَ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَشْكُرُونَ
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
And He
ٱلَّذِىٓ
alladhī
(is) the One Who
أَنشَأَ
ansha-a
produced
لَكُمُ
lakumu
for you
ٱلسَّمْعَ
l-samʿa
the hearing
وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَ
wal-abṣāra
and the sight
وَٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةَ
wal-afidata
and the feeling
قَلِيلًا
qalīlan
little
مَّا
(is) what
تَشْكُرُونَ
tashkurūna
you give thanks
And it is He who produced for you hearing and vision and hearts [i.e., intellect]; little are you grateful.

23:79
Ayah 23:79
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى ذَرَأَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
And He
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
(is) the One Who
ذَرَأَكُمْ
dhara-akum
multiplied you
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
وَإِلَيْهِ
wa-ilayhi
and to Him
تُحْشَرُونَ
tuḥ'sharūna
you will be gathered
And it is He who has multiplied you throughout the earth, and to Him you will be gathered.

23:80
Ayah 23:80
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ وَلَهُ ٱخْتِلَـٰفُ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ ۚ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
And He
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
(is) the One Who
يُحْىِۦ
yuḥ'yī
gives life
وَيُمِيتُ
wayumītu
and causes death
وَلَهُ
walahu
and for Him
ٱخْتِلَـٰفُ
ikh'tilāfu
(is the) alternation
ٱلَّيْلِ
al-layli
(of) the night
وَٱلنَّهَارِ
wal-nahāri
and the day
أَفَلَا
afalā
Then will not
تَعْقِلُونَ
taʿqilūna
you reason
And it is He who gives life and causes death, and His is the alternation of the night and the day. Then will you not reason?

23:81
Ayah 23:81
بَلْ قَالُوا۟ مِثْلَ مَا قَالَ ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
بَلْ
bal
Nay
قَالُوا۟
qālū
they say
مِثْلَ
mith'la
(the) like
مَا
(of) what
قَالَ
qāla
said
ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
l-awalūna
the former (people)
Rather,1 they say like what the former peoples said.

23:82
Ayah 23:82
قَالُوٓا۟ أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
قَالُوٓا۟
qālū
They said
أَءِذَا
a-idhā
What! When
مِتْنَا
mit'nā
we are dead
وَكُنَّا
wakunnā
and become
تُرَابًا
turāban
dust
وَعِظَـٰمًا
waʿiẓāman
and bones
أَءِنَّا
a-innā
would we
لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
lamabʿūthūna
surely be resurrected
They said, "When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?

23:83
Ayah 23:83
لَقَدْ وُعِدْنَا نَحْنُ وَءَابَآؤُنَا هَـٰذَا مِن قَبْلُ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّآ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
لَقَدْ
laqad
Verily
وُعِدْنَا
wuʿid'nā
we have been promised
نَحْنُ
naḥnu
[we]
وَءَابَآؤُنَا
waābāunā
and our forefathers
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
this
مِن
min
before
قَبْلُ
qablu
before
إِنْ
in
not
هَـٰذَآ
hādhā
(is) this
إِلَّآ
illā
but
أَسَـٰطِيرُ
asāṭīru
(the) tales
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
l-awalīna
(of) the former (people)
We have been promised this, we and our forefathers, before; this is not but legends of the former peoples."

23:84
Ayah 23:84
قُل لِّمَنِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَمَن فِيهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
قُل
qul
Say
لِّمَنِ
limani
To whom (belongs)
ٱلْأَرْضُ
l-arḍu
the earth
وَمَن
waman
and whoever
فِيهَآ
fīhā
(is) in it
إِن
in
if
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you
تَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūna
know
Say, [O Muḥammad], "To whom belongs the earth and whoever is in it, if you should know?"

23:85
Ayah 23:85
سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِ ۚ قُلْ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
سَيَقُولُونَ
sayaqūlūna
They will say
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
To Allah
قُلْ
qul
Say
أَفَلَا
afalā
Then will not
تَذَكَّرُونَ
tadhakkarūna
you remember
They will say, "To Allāh." Say, "Then will you not remember?"

23:86
Ayah 23:86
قُلْ مَن رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ ٱلسَّبْعِ وَرَبُّ ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
قُلْ
qul
Say
مَن
man
Who
رَّبُّ
rabbu
(is the) Lord
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti
(of) the seven heavens
ٱلسَّبْعِ
l-sabʿi
(of) the seven heavens
وَرَبُّ
warabbu
and (the) Lord
ٱلْعَرْشِ
l-ʿarshi
(of) the Throne
ٱلْعَظِيمِ
l-ʿaẓīmi
the Great
Say, "Who is Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the Great Throne?"

23:87
Ayah 23:87
سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِ ۚ قُلْ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
سَيَقُولُونَ
sayaqūlūna
They will say
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
Allah
قُلْ
qul
Say
أَفَلَا
afalā
Then will not
تَتَّقُونَ
tattaqūna
you fear (Him)
They will say, "[They belong] to Allāh." Say, "Then will you not fear Him?"
— The Clear Quran, Dr. Mustafa Khattab
23:88
Ayah 23:88
قُلْ مَنۢ بِيَدِهِۦ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَهُوَ يُجِيرُ وَلَا يُجَارُ عَلَيْهِ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
قُلْ
qul
Say
مَنۢ
man
Who is (it)
بِيَدِهِۦ
biyadihi
in Whose Hand(s)
مَلَكُوتُ
malakūtu
(is the) dominion
كُلِّ
kulli
(of) all
شَىْءٍ
shayin
things
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
and He
يُجِيرُ
yujīru
protects
وَلَا
walā
and no (one)
يُجَارُ
yujāru
(can) be protected
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhi
against Him
إِن
in
If
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you
تَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūna
know
Say, "In whose hand is the realm of all things - and He protects while none can protect against Him - if you should know?"
— The Clear Quran, Dr. Mustafa Khattab
23:89
Ayah 23:89
سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِ ۚ قُلْ فَأَنَّىٰ تُسْحَرُونَ
سَيَقُولُونَ
sayaqūlūna
They will say
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
Allah
قُلْ
qul
Say
فَأَنَّىٰ
fa-annā
Then how
تُسْحَرُونَ
tus'ḥarūna
are you deluded
They will say, "[All belongs] to Allāh." Say, "Then how are you deluded?"

23:90
Ayah 23:90
بَلْ أَتَيْنَـٰهُم بِٱلْحَقِّ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ
بَلْ
bal
Nay
أَتَيْنَـٰهُم
ataynāhum
We (have) brought them
بِٱلْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqi
the truth
وَإِنَّهُمْ
wa-innahum
but indeed, they
لَكَـٰذِبُونَ
lakādhibūna
surely, (are) liars
Rather, We have brought them the truth, and indeed they are liars.

23:91
Ayah 23:91
مَا ٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ مِن وَلَدٍ وَمَا كَانَ مَعَهُۥ مِنْ إِلَـٰهٍ ۚ إِذًا لَّذَهَبَ كُلُّ إِلَـٰهٍۭ بِمَا خَلَقَ وَلَعَلَا بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ ۚ سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
مَا
Not
ٱتَّخَذَ
ittakhadha
Allah has taken
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah has taken
مِن
min
any
وَلَدٍ
waladin
son
وَمَا
wamā
and not
كَانَ
kāna
is

لَّذَهَبَ
ladhahaba
surely (would have) taken away
كُلُّ
kullu
each
إِلَـٰهٍۭ
ilāhin
god
بِمَا
bimā
what
خَلَقَ
khalaqa
he created
وَلَعَلَا
walaʿalā
and surely would have overpowered
بَعْضُهُمْ
baʿḍuhum
some of them
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
[on]
بَعْضٍ
baʿḍin
others
سُبْحَـٰنَ
sub'ḥāna
Glory be
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(to) Allah
عَمَّا
ʿammā
above what
يَصِفُونَ
yaṣifūna
they attribute
Allāh has not taken any son, nor has there ever been with Him any deity. [If there had been], then each deity would have taken what it created, and some of them would have [sought to] overcome others. Exalted is Allāh above what they describe [concerning Him].

23:92
Ayah 23:92
عَـٰلِمِ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ فَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ
عَـٰلِمِ
ʿālimi
Knower
ٱلْغَيْبِ
l-ghaybi
(of) the unseen
وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ
wal-shahādati
and the witnessed
فَتَعَـٰلَىٰ
fataʿālā
exalted is He
عَمَّا
ʿammā
above what
يُشْرِكُونَ
yush'rikūna
they associate
[He is] Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, so high is He above what they associate [with Him].

23:93
Ayah 23:93
قُل رَّبِّ إِمَّا تُرِيَنِّى مَا يُوعَدُونَ
قُل
qul
Say
رَّبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
إِمَّا
immā
If
تُرِيَنِّى
turiyannī
You should show me
مَا
what
يُوعَدُونَ
yūʿadūna
they are promised
Say, [O Muḥammad], "My Lord, if You should show me that which they are promised,

23:94
Ayah 23:94
رَبِّ فَلَا تَجْعَلْنِى فِى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
رَبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
فَلَا
falā
then (do) not
تَجْعَلْنِى
tajʿalnī
place me
فِى
among
ٱلْقَوْمِ
l-qawmi
the people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīna
the wrongdoers
My Lord, then do not place me among the wrongdoing people."

23:95
Ayah 23:95
وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّرِيَكَ مَا نَعِدُهُمْ لَقَـٰدِرُونَ
وَإِنَّا
wa-innā
And indeed We
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalā
on
أَن
an
that
نُّرِيَكَ
nuriyaka
We show you
مَا
what
نَعِدُهُمْ
naʿiduhum
We have promised them
لَقَـٰدِرُونَ
laqādirūna
surely able
And indeed, We are Able to show you what We have promised them.

23:96
Ayah 23:96
ٱدْفَعْ بِٱلَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُ ٱلسَّيِّئَةَ ۚ نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَصِفُونَ
ٱدْفَعْ
id'faʿ
Repel
بِٱلَّتِى
bi-allatī
by that
هِىَ
hiya
which
أَحْسَنُ
aḥsanu
(is) best
ٱلسَّيِّئَةَ
l-sayi-ata
the evil
نَحْنُ
naḥnu
We
أَعْلَمُ
aʿlamu
know best
بِمَا
bimā
of what
يَصِفُونَ
yaṣifūna
they attribute
Repel, by [means of] what is best, [their] evil. We are most knowing of what they describe.

23:97
Ayah 23:97
وَقُل رَّبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ هَمَزَٰتِ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ
وَقُل
waqul
And say
رَّبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
أَعُوذُ
aʿūdhu
I seek refuge
بِكَ
bika
in You
مِنْ
min
from
هَمَزَٰتِ
hamazāti
(the) suggestions
ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ
l-shayāṭīni
(of) the evil ones
And say, "My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the incitements of the devils,

23:98
Ayah 23:98
وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ رَبِّ أَن يَحْضُرُونِ
وَأَعُوذُ
wa-aʿūdhu
And I seek refuge
بِكَ
bika
in You
رَبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
أَن
an
Lest
يَحْضُرُونِ
yaḥḍurūni
they be present with me
And I seek refuge in You, my Lord, lest they be present with me."

23:99
Ayah 23:99
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَ أَحَدَهُمُ ٱلْمَوْتُ قَالَ رَبِّ ٱرْجِعُونِ
حَتَّىٰٓ
ḥattā
Until
إِذَا
idhā
when
جَآءَ
jāa
comes
أَحَدَهُمُ
aḥadahumu
(to) one of them
ٱلْمَوْتُ
l-mawtu
the death
قَالَ
qāla
he says
رَبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
ٱرْجِعُونِ
ir'jiʿūni
Send me back
[For such is the state of the disbelievers] until, when death comes to one of them, he says, "My Lord, send me back

23:100
Ayah 23:100
لَعَلِّىٓ أَعْمَلُ صَـٰلِحًا فِيمَا تَرَكْتُ ۚ كَلَّآ ۚ إِنَّهَا كَلِمَةٌ هُوَ قَآئِلُهَا ۖ وَمِن وَرَآئِهِم بَرْزَخٌ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
لَعَلِّىٓ
laʿallī
That I may
أَعْمَلُ
aʿmalu
do
صَـٰلِحًا
ṣāliḥan
righteous (deeds)
فِيمَا
fīmā
in what
تَرَكْتُ
taraktu
I left behind
كَلَّآ
kallā
No
إِنَّهَا
innahā
Indeed, it
كَلِمَةٌ
kalimatun
(is) a word
هُوَ
huwa
he
قَآئِلُهَا
qāiluhā
speaks it
وَمِن
wamin
and before them
وَرَآئِهِم
warāihim
and before them
بَرْزَخٌ
barzakhun
(is) a barrier
إِلَىٰ
ilā
till
يَوْمِ
yawmi
(the) Day
يُبْعَثُونَ
yub'ʿathūna
they are resurrected
That I might do righteousness in that which I left behind."1 No! It is only a word he is saying; and behind them is a barrier until the Day they are resurrected.

23:101
Ayah 23:101
فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَلَآ أَنسَابَ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَلَا يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
فَإِذَا
fa-idhā
So when
نُفِخَ
nufikha
is blown
فِى
in
ٱلصُّورِ
l-ṣūri
the trumpet
فَلَآ
falā
then not
أَنسَابَ
ansāba
(there) will be relationship
بَيْنَهُمْ
baynahum
among them
يَوْمَئِذٍ
yawma-idhin
that Day
وَلَا
walā
and not
يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
yatasāalūna
will they ask each other
So when the Horn is blown, no relationship will there be among them that Day, nor will they ask about one another.

23:102
Ayah 23:102
فَمَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ
فَمَن
faman
Then (the one) whose
ثَقُلَتْ
thaqulat
(are) heavy
مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ
mawāzīnuhu
his scales
فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
fa-ulāika
then those
هُمُ
humu
they
ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ
l-muf'liḥūna
(are) the successful
And those whose scales are heavy [with good deeds] - it is they who are the successful.

23:103
Ayah 23:103
وَمَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ فِى جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدُونَ
وَمَنْ
waman
But (the one) whose
خَفَّتْ
khaffat
(are) light
مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ
mawāzīnuhu
his scales
فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
fa-ulāika
then those
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
they [who]
خَسِرُوٓا۟
khasirū
have lost
أَنفُسَهُمْ
anfusahum
their souls
فِى
in
جَهَنَّمَ
jahannama
Hell
خَـٰلِدُونَ
khālidūna
they (will) abide forever
But those whose scales are light - those are the ones who have lost their souls, [being] in Hell, abiding eternally.

23:104
Ayah 23:104
تَلْفَحُ وُجُوهَهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ وَهُمْ فِيهَا كَـٰلِحُونَ
تَلْفَحُ
talfaḥu
Will burn
وُجُوهَهُمُ
wujūhahumu
their faces
ٱلنَّارُ
l-nāru
the Fire
وَهُمْ
wahum
and they
فِيهَا
fīhā
in it
كَـٰلِحُونَ
kāliḥūna
(will) grin with displaced lips
The Fire will sear their faces, and they therein will have taut smiles.1

23:105
Ayah 23:105
أَلَمْ تَكُنْ ءَايَـٰتِى تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ فَكُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ
أَلَمْ
alam
Were not
تَكُنْ
takun
Were not
ءَايَـٰتِى
āyātī
My Verses
تُتْلَىٰ
tut'lā
recited
عَلَيْكُمْ
ʿalaykum
to you
فَكُنتُم
fakuntum
and you used (to)
بِهَا
bihā
deny them
تُكَذِّبُونَ
tukadhibūna
deny them
[It will be said], "Were not My verses recited to you and you used to deny them?"

23:106
Ayah 23:106
قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا غَلَبَتْ عَلَيْنَا شِقْوَتُنَا وَكُنَّا قَوْمًا ضَآلِّينَ
قَالُوا۟
qālū
They (will) say
رَبَّنَا
rabbanā
Our Lord
غَلَبَتْ
ghalabat
Overcame
عَلَيْنَا
ʿalaynā
[on] us
شِقْوَتُنَا
shiq'watunā
our wretchedness
وَكُنَّا
wakunnā
and we were
قَوْمًا
qawman
a people
ضَآلِّينَ
ḍāllīna
astray
They will say, "Our Lord, our wretchedness overcame us, and we were a people astray.

23:107
Ayah 23:107
رَبَّنَآ أَخْرِجْنَا مِنْهَا فَإِنْ عُدْنَا فَإِنَّا ظَـٰلِمُونَ
رَبَّنَآ
rabbanā
Our Lord
أَخْرِجْنَا
akhrij'nā
Bring us out
مِنْهَا
min'hā
from it
فَإِنْ
fa-in
then if
عُدْنَا
ʿud'nā
we return
فَإِنَّا
fa-innā
then indeed, we
ظَـٰلِمُونَ
ẓālimūna
(would be) wrongdoers
Our Lord, remove us from it, and if we were to return [to evil], we would indeed be wrongdoers."

23:108
Ayah 23:108
قَالَ ٱخْسَـُٔوا۟ فِيهَا وَلَا تُكَلِّمُونِ
قَالَ
qāla
He (will) say
ٱخْسَـُٔوا۟
ikh'saū
Remain despised
فِيهَا
fīhā
in it
وَلَا
walā
and (do) not
تُكَلِّمُونِ
tukallimūni
speak to Me
He will say, "Remain despised therein and do not speak to Me.

23:109
Ayah 23:109
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَرِيقٌ مِّنْ عِبَادِى يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَآ ءَامَنَّا فَٱغْفِرْ لَنَا وَٱرْحَمْنَا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed
كَانَ
kāna
(there) was
فَرِيقٌ
farīqun
a party
مِّنْ
min
of
عِبَادِى
ʿibādī
My slaves
يَقُولُونَ
yaqūlūna
(who) said
رَبَّنَآ
rabbanā
Our Lord
ءَامَنَّا
āmannā
We believe
فَٱغْفِرْ
fa-igh'fir
so forgive
لَنَا
lanā
us
وَٱرْحَمْنَا
wa-ir'ḥamnā
and have mercy on us
وَأَنتَ
wa-anta
and You
خَيْرُ
khayru
(are) best
ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ
l-rāḥimīna
(of) those who show mercy
Indeed, there was a party of My servants who said, 'Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, and You are the best of the merciful.'

23:110
Ayah 23:110
فَٱتَّخَذْتُمُوهُمْ سِخْرِيًّا حَتَّىٰٓ أَنسَوْكُمْ ذِكْرِى وَكُنتُم مِّنْهُمْ تَضْحَكُونَ
فَٱتَّخَذْتُمُوهُمْ
fa-ittakhadhtumūhum
But you took them
سِخْرِيًّا
sikh'riyyan
(in) mockery
حَتَّىٰٓ
ḥattā
until
أَنسَوْكُمْ
ansawkum
they made you forget
ذِكْرِى
dhik'rī
My remembrance
وَكُنتُم
wakuntum
and you used (to)
مِّنْهُمْ
min'hum
at them
تَضْحَكُونَ
taḍḥakūna
laugh
But you took them in mockery to the point that they made you forget My remembrance, and you used to laugh at them.

23:111
Ayah 23:111
إِنِّى جَزَيْتُهُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ بِمَا صَبَرُوٓا۟ أَنَّهُمْ هُمُ ٱلْفَآئِزُونَ
إِنِّى
innī
Indeed, I
جَزَيْتُهُمُ
jazaytuhumu
have rewarded them
ٱلْيَوْمَ
l-yawma
this Day
بِمَا
bimā
because
صَبَرُوٓا۟
ṣabarū
they were patient
أَنَّهُمْ
annahum
indeed, they
هُمُ
humu
[they]
ٱلْفَآئِزُونَ
l-fāizūna
(are) the successful ones
Indeed, I have rewarded them this Day for their patient endurance - that they are the attainers [of success]."

23:112
Ayah 23:112
قَـٰلَ كَمْ لَبِثْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ عَدَدَ سِنِينَ
قَـٰلَ
qāla
He will say
كَمْ
kam
How long
لَبِثْتُمْ
labith'tum
did you remain
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
عَدَدَ
ʿadada
(in) number
سِنِينَ
sinīna
(of) years
[Allāh] will say, "How long did you remain on earth in number of years?"

23:113
Ayah 23:113
قَالُوا۟ لَبِثْنَا يَوْمًا أَوْ بَعْضَ يَوْمٍ فَسْـَٔلِ ٱلْعَآدِّينَ
قَالُوا۟
qālū
They will say
لَبِثْنَا
labith'nā
We remained
يَوْمًا
yawman
a day
أَوْ
aw
or
بَعْضَ
baʿḍa
a part
يَوْمٍ
yawmin
(of) a day
فَسْـَٔلِ
fasali
but ask
ٱلْعَآدِّينَ
l-ʿādīna
those who keep count
They will say, "We remained a day or part of a day; ask those who enumerate."

23:114
Ayah 23:114
قَـٰلَ إِن لَّبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا ۖ لَّوْ أَنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
قَـٰلَ
qāla
He will say
إِن
in
Not
لَّبِثْتُمْ
labith'tum
you stayed
إِلَّا
illā
but
قَلِيلًا
qalīlan
a little
لَّوْ
law
if
أَنَّكُمْ
annakum
only you
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
[you]
تَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūna
knew
He will say, "You stayed not but a little - if only you had known.

23:115
Ayah 23:115
أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ أَنَّمَا خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ عَبَثًا وَأَنَّكُمْ إِلَيْنَا لَا تُرْجَعُونَ
أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ
afaḥasib'tum
Then did you think
أَنَّمَا
annamā
that
خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ
khalaqnākum
We created you
عَبَثًا
ʿabathan
uselessly
وَأَنَّكُمْ
wa-annakum
and that you
إِلَيْنَا
ilaynā
to Us
لَا
not
تُرْجَعُونَ
tur'jaʿūna
will be returned
Then did you think that We created you uselessly and that to Us you would not be returned?"

23:116
Ayah 23:116
فَتَعَـٰلَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمَلِكُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْكَرِيمِ
فَتَعَـٰلَى
fataʿālā
So exalted is
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
ٱلْمَلِكُ
l-maliku
the King
ٱلْحَقُّ
l-ḥaqu
the Truth
لَآ
(There is) no
إِلَـٰهَ
ilāha
god
إِلَّا
illā
except
هُوَ
huwa
Him
رَبُّ
rabbu
(the) Lord
ٱلْعَرْشِ
l-ʿarshi
(of) the Throne
ٱلْكَرِيمِ
l-karīmi
Honorable
So exalted is Allāh, the Sovereign,1 the Truth;2 there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Noble Throne.

23:117
Ayah 23:117
وَمَن يَدْعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ لَا بُرْهَـٰنَ لَهُۥ بِهِۦ فَإِنَّمَا حِسَابُهُۥ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفْلِحُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ
وَمَن
waman
And whoever
يَدْعُ
yadʿu
invokes
مَعَ
maʿa
with
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
إِلَـٰهًا
ilāhan
god
ءَاخَرَ
ākhara
other
لَا
no
بُرْهَـٰنَ
bur'hāna
proof
لَهُۥ
lahu
for him
بِهِۦ
bihi
in it
فَإِنَّمَا
fa-innamā
Then only
حِسَابُهُۥ
ḥisābuhu
his account
عِندَ
ʿinda
(is) with
رَبِّهِۦٓ
rabbihi
his Lord
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, [he]
لَا
not
يُفْلِحُ
yuf'liḥu
will succeed
ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ
l-kāfirūna
the disbelievers
And whoever invokes besides Allāh another deity for which he has no proof - then his account is only with his Lord. Indeed, the disbelievers will not succeed.

23:118
Ayah 23:118
وَقُل رَّبِّ ٱغْفِرْ وَٱرْحَمْ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ
وَقُل
waqul
And say
رَّبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
ٱغْفِرْ
igh'fir
Forgive
وَٱرْحَمْ
wa-ir'ḥam
and have mercy
وَأَنتَ
wa-anta
and You
خَيْرُ
khayru
(are the) Best
ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ
l-rāḥimīna
(of) those who show mercy
And, [O Muḥammad], say, "My Lord, forgive and have mercy, and You are the best of the merciful."
