54:1
Ayah 54:1
ٱقْتَرَبَتِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ وَٱنشَقَّ ٱلْقَمَرُ
ٱقْتَرَبَتِ
iq'tarabati
Has come near
ٱلسَّاعَةُ
l-sāʿatu
the Hour
وَٱنشَقَّ
wa-inshaqqa
and has split
ٱلْقَمَرُ
l-qamaru
the moon
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two].1

54:2
Ayah 54:2
وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ ءَايَةً يُعْرِضُوا۟ وَيَقُولُوا۟ سِحْرٌ مُّسْتَمِرٌّ
وَإِن
wa-in
And if
يَرَوْا۟
yaraw
they see
ءَايَةً
āyatan
a Sign
يُعْرِضُوا۟
yuʿ'riḍū
they turn away
وَيَقُولُوا۟
wayaqūlū
and say
سِحْرٌ
siḥ'run
Magic
مُّسْتَمِرٌّ
mus'tamirrun
continuing
And if they see a sign [i.e., miracle], they turn away and say, "Passing magic."1

54:3
Ayah 54:3
وَكَذَّبُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ
وَكَذَّبُوا۟
wakadhabū
And they denied
وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟
wa-ittabaʿū
and followed
أَهْوَآءَهُمْ
ahwāahum
their desires
وَكُلُّ
wakullu
but (for) every
أَمْرٍ
amrin
matter
مُّسْتَقِرٌّ
mus'taqirrun
(will be a) settlement
And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement.

54:4
Ayah 54:4
وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَنۢبَآءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And certainly
جَآءَهُم
jāahum
has come to them
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلْأَنۢبَآءِ
l-anbāi
the information
مَا
wherein
فِيهِ
fīhi
wherein
مُزْدَجَرٌ
muz'dajarun
(is) deterrence
And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence.

54:5
Ayah 54:5
حِكْمَةٌۢ بَـٰلِغَةٌ ۖ فَمَا تُغْنِ ٱلنُّذُرُ
حِكْمَةٌۢ
ḥik'matun
Wisdom
بَـٰلِغَةٌ
bālighatun
perfect
فَمَا
famā
but not
تُغْنِ
tugh'ni
will avail
ٱلنُّذُرُ
l-nudhuru
the warnings
Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them].

54:6
Ayah 54:6
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ ۘ يَوْمَ يَدْعُ ٱلدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَىْءٍ نُّكُرٍ
فَتَوَلَّ
fatawalla
So turn away
عَنْهُمْ
ʿanhum
from them
يَوْمَ
yawma
(The) Day
يَدْعُ
yadʿu
will call
ٱلدَّاعِ
l-dāʿi
the caller
إِلَىٰ
ilā
to
شَىْءٍ
shayin
a thing
نُّكُرٍ
nukurin
terrible
So leave them, [O Muḥammad]. The Day the Caller1 calls to something forbidding,

54:7
Ayah 54:7
خُشَّعًا أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُّنتَشِرٌ
خُشَّعًا
khushaʿan
(Will be) humbled
أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ
abṣāruhum
their eyes
يَخْرُجُونَ
yakhrujūna
they will come forth
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ
l-ajdāthi
the graves
كَأَنَّهُمْ
ka-annahum
as if they (were)
جَرَادٌ
jarādun
locusts
مُّنتَشِرٌ
muntashirun
spreading
Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading,

54:8
Ayah 54:8
مُّهْطِعِينَ إِلَى ٱلدَّاعِ ۖ يَقُولُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ هَـٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌ
مُّهْطِعِينَ
muh'ṭiʿīna
Racing ahead
إِلَى
ilā
towards
ٱلدَّاعِ
l-dāʿi
the caller
يَقُولُ
yaqūlu
Will say
ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ
l-kāfirūna
the disbelievers
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
This
يَوْمٌ
yawmun
(is) a Day
عَسِرٌ
ʿasirun
difficult
Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day."

54:9
Ayah 54:9
۞ كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ فَكَذَّبُوا۟ عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا۟ مَجْنُونٌ وَٱزْدُجِرَ
كَذَّبَتْ
kadhabat
Denied
قَبْلَهُمْ
qablahum
before them
قَوْمُ
qawmu
(the) people
نُوحٍ
nūḥin
(of) Nuh
فَكَذَّبُوا۟
fakadhabū
and they denied
عَبْدَنَا
ʿabdanā
Our slave
وَقَالُوا۟
waqālū
and said
مَجْنُونٌ
majnūnun
A madman
وَٱزْدُجِرَ
wa-uz'dujira
and he was repelled
The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled.

54:10
Ayah 54:10
فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَغْلُوبٌ فَٱنتَصِرْ
فَدَعَا
fadaʿā
So he called
رَبَّهُۥٓ
rabbahu
his Lord
أَنِّى
annī
I am
مَغْلُوبٌ
maghlūbun
one overpowered
فَٱنتَصِرْ
fa-intaṣir
so help
So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help."

54:11
Ayah 54:11
فَفَتَحْنَآ أَبْوَٰبَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَآءٍ مُّنْهَمِرٍ
فَفَتَحْنَآ
fafataḥnā
So We opened
أَبْوَٰبَ
abwāba
(the) gates
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāi
(of) heaven
بِمَآءٍ
bimāin
with water
مُّنْهَمِرٍ
mun'hamirin
pouring down
Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down

54:12
Ayah 54:12
وَفَجَّرْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ عُيُونًا فَٱلْتَقَى ٱلْمَآءُ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِرَ
وَفَجَّرْنَا
wafajjarnā
And We caused to burst
ٱلْأَرْضَ
l-arḍa
the earth
عُيُونًا
ʿuyūnan
(with) springs
فَٱلْتَقَى
fal-taqā
so met
ٱلْمَآءُ
l-māu
the water(s)
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalā
for
أَمْرٍ
amrin
a matter
قَدْ
qad
already
قُدِرَ
qudira
predestined
And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined.

54:13
Ayah 54:13
وَحَمَلْنَـٰهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلْوَٰحٍ وَدُسُرٍ
وَحَمَلْنَـٰهُ
waḥamalnāhu
And We carried him
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
on
ذَاتِ
dhāti
(ark) made of planks
أَلْوَٰحٍ
alwāḥin
(ark) made of planks
وَدُسُرٍ
wadusurin
and nails
And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails,

54:14
Ayah 54:14
تَجْرِى بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَآءً لِّمَن كَانَ كُفِرَ
تَجْرِى
tajrī
Sailing
بِأَعْيُنِنَا
bi-aʿyuninā
before Our eyes
جَزَآءً
jazāan
a reward
لِّمَن
liman
for (he) who
كَانَ
kāna
was
كُفِرَ
kufira
denied
Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied.

54:15
Ayah 54:15
وَلَقَد تَّرَكْنَـٰهَآ ءَايَةً فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
وَلَقَد
walaqad
And certainly
تَّرَكْنَـٰهَآ
taraknāhā
We left it
ءَايَةً
āyatan
(as) a Sign
فَهَلْ
fahal
so is (there)
مِن
min
any
مُّدَّكِرٍ
muddakirin
who will receive admonition
And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember?

54:16
Ayah 54:16
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
فَكَيْفَ
fakayfa
So how
كَانَ
kāna
was
عَذَابِى
ʿadhābī
My punishment
وَنُذُرِ
wanudhuri
and My warnings
And how [severe] were My punishment and warning.1

54:17
Ayah 54:17
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And certainly
يَسَّرْنَا
yassarnā
We have made easy
ٱلْقُرْءَانَ
l-qur'āna
the Quran
لِلذِّكْرِ
lildhik'ri
for remembrance
فَهَلْ
fahal
so is (there)
مِن
min
any
مُّدَّكِرٍ
muddakirin
who will receive admonition
And We have certainly made the Qur’ān easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

54:18
Ayah 54:18
كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
كَذَّبَتْ
kadhabat
Denied
عَادٌ
ʿādun
Aad
فَكَيْفَ
fakayfa
so how
كَانَ
kāna
was
عَذَابِى
ʿadhābī
My punishment
وَنُذُرِ
wanudhuri
and My warnings
ʿAad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning.

54:19
Ayah 54:19
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا صَرْصَرًا فِى يَوْمِ نَحْسٍ مُّسْتَمِرٍّ
إِنَّآ
innā
Indeed, We
أَرْسَلْنَا
arsalnā
[We] sent
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
upon them
رِيحًا
rīḥan
a wind
صَرْصَرًا
ṣarṣaran
furious
فِى
on
يَوْمِ
yawmi
a day
نَحْسٍ
naḥsin
(of) misfortune
مُّسْتَمِرٍّ
mus'tamirrin
continuous
Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune,

54:20
Ayah 54:20
تَنزِعُ ٱلنَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ مُّنقَعِرٍ
تَنزِعُ
tanziʿu
Plucking out
ٱلنَّاسَ
l-nāsa
men
كَأَنَّهُمْ
ka-annahum
as if they (were)
أَعْجَازُ
aʿjāzu
trunks
نَخْلٍ
nakhlin
(of) date-palms
مُّنقَعِرٍ
munqaʿirin
uprooted
Extracting the people1 as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted.

54:21
Ayah 54:21
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
فَكَيْفَ
fakayfa
So how
كَانَ
kāna
was
عَذَابِى
ʿadhābī
My punishment
وَنُذُرِ
wanudhuri
and My warnings
And how [severe] were My punishment and warning.

54:22
Ayah 54:22
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And certainly
يَسَّرْنَا
yassarnā
We have made easy
ٱلْقُرْءَانَ
l-qur'āna
the Quran
لِلذِّكْرِ
lildhik'ri
for remembrance
فَهَلْ
fahal
so is (there)
مِن
min
any
مُّدَّكِرٍ

54:23
Ayah 54:23
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
كَذَّبَتْ
kadhabat
Denied
ثَمُودُ
thamūdu
Thamud
بِٱلنُّذُرِ
bil-nudhuri
the warnings
Thamūd denied the warning.

54:24
Ayah 54:24
فَقَالُوٓا۟ أَبَشَرًا مِّنَّا وَٰحِدًا نَّتَّبِعُهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِذًا لَّفِى ضَلَـٰلٍ وَسُعُرٍ
فَقَالُوٓا۟
faqālū
And said
أَبَشَرًا
abasharan
Is (it) a human being
مِّنَّا
minnā
among us
وَٰحِدًا
wāḥidan
one
نَّتَّبِعُهُۥٓ
nattabiʿuhu
(that) we should follow him
إِنَّآ
innā
Indeed, we
إِذًا
idhan
then
لَّفِى
lafī
(will be) surely in
ضَلَـٰلٍ
ḍalālin
error
وَسُعُرٍ
wasuʿurin
and madness
And said, "Is it one human being1 among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness.

54:25
Ayah 54:25
أَءُلْقِىَ ٱلذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ مِنۢ بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌ
أَءُلْقِىَ
a-ul'qiya
Has been sent
ٱلذِّكْرُ
l-dhik'ru
the Reminder
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhi
to him
مِنۢ
min
from
بَيْنِنَا
bayninā
among us
بَلْ
bal
Nay
هُوَ
huwa
he
كَذَّابٌ
kadhābun
(is) a liar
أَشِرٌ
ashirun
insolent
Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar."

54:26
Ayah 54:26
سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَدًا مَّنِ ٱلْكَذَّابُ ٱلْأَشِرُ
سَيَعْلَمُونَ
sayaʿlamūna
They will know
غَدًا
ghadan
tomorrow
مَّنِ
mani
who
ٱلْكَذَّابُ
l-kadhābu
(is) the liar
ٱلْأَشِرُ
l-ashiru
the insolent one
They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar.

54:27
Ayah 54:27
إِنَّا مُرْسِلُوا۟ ٱلنَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةً لَّهُمْ فَٱرْتَقِبْهُمْ وَٱصْطَبِرْ
إِنَّا
innā
Indeed, We
مُرْسِلُوا۟
mur'silū
(are) sending
ٱلنَّاقَةِ
l-nāqati
the she-camel
فِتْنَةً
fit'natan
(as) a trial
لَّهُمْ
lahum
for them
فَٱرْتَقِبْهُمْ
fa-ir'taqib'hum
so watch them
وَٱصْطَبِرْ
wa-iṣ'ṭabir
and be patient
Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient.1

54:28
Ayah 54:28
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ ٱلْمَآءَ قِسْمَةٌۢ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُّحْتَضَرٌ
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ
wanabbi'hum
And inform them
أَنَّ
anna
that
ٱلْمَآءَ
l-māa
the water
قِسْمَةٌۢ
qis'matun
(is) to be shared
بَيْنَهُمْ
baynahum
between them
كُلُّ
kullu
each
شِرْبٍ
shir'bin
drink
مُّحْتَضَرٌ
muḥ'taḍarun
attended
And inform them that the water is shared between them,1 each [day of] drink attended [by turn].

54:29
Ayah 54:29
فَنَادَوْا۟ صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ
فَنَادَوْا۟
fanādaw
But they called
صَاحِبَهُمْ
ṣāḥibahum
their companion
فَتَعَاطَىٰ
fataʿāṭā
and he took
فَعَقَرَ
faʿaqara
and hamstrung
But they called their companion,1 and he dared2 and hamstrung [her].

54:30
Ayah 54:30
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
فَكَيْفَ
fakayfa
So how
كَانَ
kāna
was
عَذَابِى
ʿadhābī
My punishment
وَنُذُرِ
wanudhuri
and My warnings
And how [severe] were My punishment and warning.

54:31
Ayah 54:31
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةً وَٰحِدَةً فَكَانُوا۟ كَهَشِيمِ ٱلْمُحْتَظِرِ
إِنَّآ
innā
Indeed, We
أَرْسَلْنَا
arsalnā
[We] sent
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
upon them
صَيْحَةً
ṣayḥatan
thunderous blast
وَٰحِدَةً
wāḥidatan
single
فَكَانُوا۟
fakānū
and they became
كَهَشِيمِ
kahashīmi
like dry twig fragments
ٱلْمُحْتَظِرِ
l-muḥ'taẓiri
(used by) a fence builder
Indeed, We sent upon them one shriek [i.e., blast from the sky], and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen.

54:32
Ayah 54:32
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And certainly
يَسَّرْنَا
yassarnā
We have made easy
ٱلْقُرْءَانَ
l-qur'āna
the Quran
لِلذِّكْرِ
lildhik'ri
for remembrance
فَهَلْ
fahal
so is (there)
مِن
min
any
مُّدَّكِرٍ
muddakirin
who will receive admonition
And We have certainly made the Qur’ān easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

54:33
Ayah 54:33
كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍۭ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
كَذَّبَتْ
kadhabat
Denied
قَوْمُ
qawmu
(the) people
لُوطٍۭ
lūṭin
(of) Lut
بِٱلنُّذُرِ
bil-nudhuri
the warnings
The people of Lot denied the warning.

54:34
Ayah 54:34
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِبًا إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍ ۖ نَّجَّيْنَـٰهُم بِسَحَرٍ
إِنَّآ
innā
Indeed, We
أَرْسَلْنَا
arsalnā
[We] sent
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
upon them
حَاصِبًا
ḥāṣiban
a storm of stones
إِلَّآ
illā
except
ءَالَ
āla
(the) family
لُوطٍ
lūṭin
(of) Lut
نَّجَّيْنَـٰهُم
najjaynāhum
We saved them
بِسَحَرٍ
bisaḥarin
by dawn
Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn.

54:35
Ayah 54:35
نِّعْمَةً مِّنْ عِندِنَا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى مَن شَكَرَ
نِّعْمَةً
niʿ'matan
(As) a favor
مِّنْ
min
from
عِندِنَا
ʿindinā
Us
كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhālika
Thus
نَجْزِى
najzī
We reward
مَن
man
(one) who
شَكَرَ
shakara
(is) grateful
As favor from Us. Thus do We reward he who is grateful.

54:36
Ayah 54:36
وَلَقَدْ أَنذَرَهُم بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا۟ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And certainly
أَنذَرَهُم
andharahum
he warned them
بَطْشَتَنَا
baṭshatanā
(of) Our seizure
فَتَمَارَوْا۟
fatamāraw
but they disputed
بِٱلنُّذُرِ
bil-nudhuri
the warnings
And he had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning.

54:37
Ayah 54:37
وَلَقَدْ رَٰوَدُوهُ عَن ضَيْفِهِۦ فَطَمَسْنَآ أَعْيُنَهُمْ فَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And certainly
رَٰوَدُوهُ
rāwadūhu
they demanded from him
عَن
ʿan
they demanded from him
ضَيْفِهِۦ
ḍayfihi
his guests
فَطَمَسْنَآ
faṭamasnā
so We blinded
أَعْيُنَهُمْ
aʿyunahum
their eyes
فَذُوقُوا۟
fadhūqū
So taste
عَذَابِى
ʿadhābī
My punishment
وَنُذُرِ
wanudhuri
and My warnings
And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning."

54:38
Ayah 54:38
وَلَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُم بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And certainly
صَبَّحَهُم
ṣabbaḥahum
seized them in the morning
بُكْرَةً
buk'ratan
early
عَذَابٌ
ʿadhābun
a punishment
مُّسْتَقِرٌّ
mus'taqirrun
abiding
And there came upon them by morning an abiding punishment.

54:39
Ayah 54:39
فَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
فَذُوقُوا۟
fadhūqū
So taste
عَذَابِى
ʿadhābī
My punishment
وَنُذُرِ
wanudhuri
and My warnings
So taste My punishment and warning.

Ayah 54:40
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And certainly
يَسَّرْنَا
yassarnā
We have made easy
ٱلْقُرْءَانَ
l-qur'āna
the Quran
لِلذِّكْرِ
lildhik'ri
for remembrance
فَهَلْ
fahal
so is (there)
مِن
min
any
مُّدَّكِرٍ
muddakirin
who will receive admonition
And We have certainly made the Qur’ān easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

54:41
Ayah 54:41
وَلَقَدْ جَآءَ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ ٱلنُّذُرُ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And certainly
جَآءَ
jāa
came
ءَالَ
āla
(to the) people
فِرْعَوْنَ
fir'ʿawna
(of) Firaun
ٱلنُّذُرُ
l-nudhuru
warnings
And there certainly came to the people of Pharaoh warning.

54:42
Ayah 54:42
كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِيزٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍ
كَذَّبُوا۟
kadhabū
They denied
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا
biāyātinā
Our Signs
كُلِّهَا
kullihā
all of them
فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُمْ
fa-akhadhnāhum
so We seized them
أَخْذَ
akhdha
(with) a seizure
عَزِيزٍ
ʿazīzin
(of) All-Mighty
مُّقْتَدِرٍ
muq'tadirin
(the) Powerful One
They denied Our signs, all of them, so We seized them with a seizure of one Exalted in Might and Perfect in Ability.

54:43
Ayah 54:43
أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُم بَرَآءَةٌ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ
أَكُفَّارُكُمْ
akuffārukum
Are your disbelievers
خَيْرٌ
khayrun
better
مِّنْ
min
than
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكُمْ
ulāikum
those
أَمْ
am
or
لَكُم
lakum
for you
بَرَآءَةٌ
barāatun
(is) an exemption
فِى
in
ٱلزُّبُرِ
l-zuburi
the Scriptures
Are your disbelievers better than those [former ones], or have you immunity in the scriptures?

54:44
Ayah 54:44
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ جَمِيعٌ مُّنتَصِرٌ
أَمْ
am
Or
يَقُولُونَ
yaqūlūna
(do) they say
نَحْنُ
naḥnu
We
جَمِيعٌ
jamīʿun
(are) an assembly
مُّنتَصِرٌ
muntaṣirun
helping (each other)
Or do they say, "We are an assembly supporting [each other]"?

54:45
Ayah 54:45
سَيُهْزَمُ ٱلْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ ٱلدُّبُرَ
سَيُهْزَمُ
sayuh'zamu
Soon will be defeated
ٱلْجَمْعُ
l-jamʿu
(their) assembly
وَيُوَلُّونَ
wayuwallūna
and they will turn
ٱلدُّبُرَ
l-dubura
(their) backs
[Their] assembly will be defeated, and they will turn their backs [in retreat].1

54:46
Ayah 54:46
بَلِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ
بَلِ
bali
Nay
ٱلسَّاعَةُ
l-sāʿatu
the Hour
مَوْعِدُهُمْ
mawʿiduhum
(is) their promised time
وَٱلسَّاعَةُ
wal-sāʿatu
and the Hour
أَدْهَىٰ
adhā
(will be) more grievous
وَأَمَرُّ
wa-amarru
and more bitter
But the Hour is their appointment [for due punishment], and the Hour is more disastrous and more bitter.

54:47
Ayah 54:47
إِنَّ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ وَسُعُرٍ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
l-muj'rimīna
the criminals
فِى
(are) in
ضَلَـٰلٍ
ḍalālin
an error
وَسُعُرٍ
wasuʿurin
and madness
Indeed, the criminals are in error and madness.1.

54:48
Ayah 54:48
يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِى ٱلنَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُوا۟ مَسَّ سَقَرَ
يَوْمَ
yawma
(The) Day
يُسْحَبُونَ
yus'ḥabūna
they will be dragged
فِى
into
ٱلنَّارِ
l-nāri
the Fire
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
on
وُجُوهِهِمْ
wujūhihim
their faces
ذُوقُوا۟
dhūqū
Taste
مَسَّ
massa
(the) touch
سَقَرَ
saqara
(of) Hell
The Day they are dragged into the Fire on their faces [it will be said], "Taste the touch of Saqar."1

54:49
Ayah 54:49
إِنَّا كُلَّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقْنَـٰهُ بِقَدَرٍ
إِنَّا
innā
Indeed, [We]
كُلَّ
kulla
every
شَىْءٍ
shayin
thing
خَلَقْنَـٰهُ
khalaqnāhu
We created it
بِقَدَرٍ
biqadarin
by a measure
Indeed, all things We created with predestination.

54:50
Ayah 54:50
وَمَآ أَمْرُنَآ إِلَّا وَٰحِدَةٌ كَلَمْحٍۭ بِٱلْبَصَرِ
وَمَآ
wamā
And not
أَمْرُنَآ
amrunā
(is) Our Command
إِلَّا
illā
but
وَٰحِدَةٌ
wāḥidatun
one
كَلَمْحٍۭ
kalamḥin
like the twinkling
بِٱلْبَصَرِ
bil-baṣari
(of) the eye
And Our command is but one, like a glance of the eye.

54:51
Ayah 54:51
وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَآ أَشْيَاعَكُمْ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And certainly
أَهْلَكْنَآ
ahlaknā
We destroyed
أَشْيَاعَكُمْ
ashyāʿakum
your kinds
فَهَلْ
fahal
so is (there)
مِن
min
any
مُّدَّكِرٍ
muddakirin
who will receive admonition
And We have already destroyed your kinds,1 so is there any who will remember?

54:52
Ayah 54:52
وَكُلُّ شَىْءٍ فَعَلُوهُ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ
وَكُلُّ
wakullu
And every
شَىْءٍ
shayin
thing
فَعَلُوهُ
faʿalūhu
they did
فِى
(is) in
ٱلزُّبُرِ
l-zuburi
the written records
And everything they did is in written records.

54:53
Ayah 54:53
وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٍ وَكَبِيرٍ مُّسْتَطَرٌ
وَكُلُّ
wakullu
And every
صَغِيرٍ
ṣaghīrin
small
وَكَبِيرٍ
wakabīrin
and big
مُّسْتَطَرٌ
mus'taṭarun
(is) written down
And every small and great [thing] is inscribed.

54:54
Ayah 54:54
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَنَهَرٍ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
l-mutaqīna
the righteous
فِى
(will be) in
جَنَّـٰتٍ
jannātin
gardens
وَنَهَرٍ
wanaharin
and river
Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and rivers,

Ayah 54:55
فِى مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍۭ
فِى
In
مَقْعَدِ
maqʿadi
a seat
صِدْقٍ
ṣid'qin
(of) honor
عِندَ
ʿinda
near
مَلِيكٍ
malīkin
a King
مُّقْتَدِرٍۭ
muq'tadirin
Most Powerful
In a seat of honor near a Sovereign, Perfect in Ability.1
