58:1
Ayah 58:1
قَدْ سَمِعَ ٱللَّهُ قَوْلَ ٱلَّتِى تُجَـٰدِلُكَ فِى زَوْجِهَا وَتَشْتَكِىٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَٱللَّهُ يَسْمَعُ تَحَاوُرَكُمَآ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَمِيعٌۢ بَصِيرٌ
قَدْ
qad
Indeed
سَمِعَ
samiʿa
Allah has heard
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah has heard
قَوْلَ
qawla
(the) speech
ٱلَّتِى
allatī
(of one) who
تُجَـٰدِلُكَ
tujādiluka
disputes with you
فِى
concerning
زَوْجِهَا
zawjihā
her husband
وَتَشْتَكِىٓ
watashtakī
and she directs her complaint
إِلَى
ilā
to
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
يَسْمَعُ
yasmaʿu
hears
تَحَاوُرَكُمَآ
taḥāwurakumā
(the) dialogue of both of you
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
سَمِيعٌۢ
samīʿun
(is) All-Hearer
بَصِيرٌ
baṣīrun
All-Seer
Certainly has Allāh heard the speech of the one who argues [i.e., pleads] with you, [O Muḥammad], concerning her husband and directs her complaint to Allāh. And Allāh hears your dialogue; indeed, Allāh is Hearing and Seeing.

58:2
Ayah 58:2
ٱلَّذِينَ يُظَـٰهِرُونَ مِنكُم مِّن نِّسَآئِهِم مَّا هُنَّ أُمَّهَـٰتِهِمْ ۖ إِنْ أُمَّهَـٰتُهُمْ إِلَّا ٱلَّـٰٓـِٔى وَلَدْنَهُمْ ۚ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَيَقُولُونَ مُنكَرًا مِّنَ ٱلْقَوْلِ وَزُورًا ۚ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَعَفُوٌّ غَفُورٌ
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
Those who
يُظَـٰهِرُونَ
yuẓāhirūna
pronounce zihar
مِنكُم
minkum
among you
مِّن
min
[from]
نِّسَآئِهِم
nisāihim
(to) their wives
مَّا
not
هُنَّ
hunna
they
أُمَّهَـٰتِهِمْ
ummahātihim
(are) their mothers
إِنْ
in
Not
أُمَّهَـٰتُهُمْ
ummahātuhum
(are) their mothers
إِلَّا
illā
except
ٱلَّـٰٓـِٔى
allāī
those who
وَلَدْنَهُمْ
waladnahum
gave them birth
وَإِنَّهُمْ
wa-innahum
And indeed, they
لَيَقُولُونَ
layaqūlūna
surely say
مُنكَرًا
munkaran
an evil
مِّنَ
mina
[of]
ٱلْقَوْلِ
l-qawli
[the] word
وَزُورًا
wazūran
and a lie
وَإِنَّ
wa-inna
But indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
لَعَفُوٌّ
laʿafuwwun
(is) surely, Oft-Pardoning
غَفُورٌ
ghafūrun
Oft-Forgiving
Those who pronounce ẓihār1 among you [to separate] from their wives - they are not [consequently] their mothers. Their mothers are none but those who gave birth to them. And indeed, they are saying an objectionable statement and a falsehood. But indeed, Allāh is Pardoning and Forgiving.

58:3
Ayah 58:3
وَٱلَّذِينَ يُظَـٰهِرُونَ مِن نِّسَآئِهِمْ ثُمَّ يَعُودُونَ لِمَا قَالُوا۟ فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَتَمَآسَّا ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ تُوعَظُونَ بِهِۦ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
And those who
يُظَـٰهِرُونَ
yuẓāhirūna
pronounce zihar
مِن
min
[from]
نِّسَآئِهِمْ
nisāihim
(to) their wives
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
يَعُودُونَ
yaʿūdūna
go back
لِمَا
limā
on what
قَالُوا۟
qālū
they said
فَتَحْرِيرُ
fataḥrīru
then freeing
رَقَبَةٍ
raqabatin
(of) a slave
مِّن
min
before
قَبْلِ
qabli
before
أَن
an
[that]
يَتَمَآسَّا
yatamāssā
they touch each other
ذَٰلِكُمْ
dhālikum
That
تُوعَظُونَ
tūʿaẓūna
you are admonished
بِهِۦ
bihi
to it
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
بِمَا
bimā
of what
تَعْمَلُونَ
taʿmalūna
you do
خَبِيرٌ
khabīrun
(is) All-Aware
And those who pronounce ẓihār from their wives and then [wish to] go back on what they said - then [there must be] the freeing of a slave before they touch one another. That is what you are admonished thereby; and Allāh is Aware of what you do.

58:4
Ayah 58:4
فَمَن لَّمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَتَمَآسَّا ۖ فَمَن لَّمْ يَسْتَطِعْ فَإِطْعَامُ سِتِّينَ مِسْكِينًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِتُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ ۚ وَتِلْكَ حُدُودُ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَلِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
فَمَن
faman
Then whoever
لَّمْ
lam
(does) not
يَجِدْ
yajid
find
فَصِيَامُ
faṣiyāmu
then fasting
شَهْرَيْنِ
shahrayni
(for) two months
مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ
mutatābiʿayni
consecutively
مِن
min
before
قَبْلِ
qabli
before
أَن
an
[that]
يَتَمَآسَّا
yatamāssā
they both touch each other
فَمَن
faman
But (he) who
لَّمْ
lam
not
يَسْتَطِعْ
yastaṭiʿ
is able
فَإِطْعَامُ
fa-iṭ'ʿāmu
then (the) feeding
سِتِّينَ
sittīna
(of) sixty
مِسْكِينًا
mis'kīnan
needy one(s)
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
That
لِتُؤْمِنُوا۟
litu'minū
so that you may believe
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
in Allah
وَرَسُولِهِۦ
warasūlihi
and His Messenger
وَتِلْكَ
watil'ka
and these
حُدُودُ
ḥudūdu
(are the) limits
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَلِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
walil'kāfirīna
and for the disbelievers
عَذَابٌ
ʿadhābun
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٌ
alīmun
painful
And he who does not find [a slave] - then a fast for two months consecutively1 before they touch one another; and he who is unable - then the feeding of sixty poor persons. That is for you to believe [completely] in Allāh and His Messenger; and those are the limits [set by] Allāh. And for the disbelievers is a painful punishment.

58:5
Ayah 58:5
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُحَآدُّونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ كُبِتُوا۟ كَمَا كُبِتَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ وَقَدْ أَنزَلْنَآ ءَايَـٰتٍۭ بَيِّنَـٰتٍ ۚ وَلِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
يُحَآدُّونَ
yuḥāddūna
oppose
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
وَرَسُولَهُۥ
warasūlahu
and His Messenger
كُبِتُوا۟
kubitū
(will) be disgraced
كَمَا
kamā
as
كُبِتَ
kubita
were disgraced
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those
مِن
min
before them
قَبْلِهِمْ
qablihim
before them
وَقَدْ
waqad
And certainly
أَنزَلْنَآ
anzalnā
We have sent down
ءَايَـٰتٍۭ
āyātin
Verses
بَيِّنَـٰتٍ
bayyinātin
clear
وَلِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
walil'kāfirīna
And for the disbelievers
عَذَابٌ
ʿadhābun
(is) a punishment
مُّهِينٌ
muhīnun
humiliating
Indeed, those who oppose Allāh and His Messenger are abased as those before them were abased. And We have certainly sent down verses of clear evidence. And for the disbelievers is a humiliating punishment

58:6
Ayah 58:6
يَوْمَ يَبْعَثُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ جَمِيعًا فَيُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا عَمِلُوٓا۟ ۚ أَحْصَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُ وَنَسُوهُ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدٌ
يَوْمَ
yawma
(On the) Day
يَبْعَثُهُمُ
yabʿathuhumu
(when) Allah will raise them
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
(when) Allah will raise them
جَمِيعًا
jamīʿan
all
فَيُنَبِّئُهُم
fayunabbi-uhum
and inform them
بِمَا
bimā
of what
عَمِلُوٓا۟
ʿamilū
they did
أَحْصَىٰهُ
aḥṣāhu
Allah has recorded it
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah has recorded it
وَنَسُوهُ
wanasūhu
while they forgot it
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
(is) over
كُلِّ
kulli
all
شَىْءٍ
shayin
things
شَهِيدٌ
shahīdun
a Witness
On the Day when Allāh will resurrect them all and inform them of what they did. Allāh had enumerated it, while they forgot it; and Allāh is, over all things, Witness.1

58:7
Ayah 58:7
أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ مَا يَكُونُ مِن نَّجْوَىٰ ثَلَـٰثَةٍ إِلَّا هُوَ رَابِعُهُمْ وَلَا خَمْسَةٍ إِلَّا هُوَ سَادِسُهُمْ وَلَآ أَدْنَىٰ مِن ذَٰلِكَ وَلَآ أَكْثَرَ إِلَّا هُوَ مَعَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كَانُوا۟ ۖ ثُمَّ يُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا عَمِلُوا۟ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌ
أَلَمْ
alam
Do not
تَرَ
tara
you see
أَنَّ
anna
that
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
يَعْلَمُ
yaʿlamu
knows
مَا
whatever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَمَا
wamā
and whatever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
مَا
Not
يَكُونُ
yakūnu
there is
مِن
min
any
نَّجْوَىٰ
najwā
secret counsel
ثَلَـٰثَةٍ
thalāthatin
(of) three
إِلَّا
illā
but
هُوَ
huwa
He (is)
رَابِعُهُمْ
rābiʿuhum
(the) fourth of them
وَلَا
walā
and not
خَمْسَةٍ
khamsatin
five
إِلَّا
illā
but
هُوَ
huwa
He (is)
سَادِسُهُمْ
sādisuhum
(the) sixth of them
وَلَآ
walā
and not
أَدْنَىٰ
adnā
less
مِن
min
than
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
that
وَلَآ
walā
and not
أَكْثَرَ
akthara
more
إِلَّا
illā
but
هُوَ
huwa
He
مَعَهُمْ
maʿahum
(is) with them
أَيْنَ
ayna
wherever
مَا
wherever
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they are
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
يُنَبِّئُهُم
yunabbi-uhum
He will inform them
بِمَا
bimā
of what
عَمِلُوا۟
ʿamilū
they did
يَوْمَ
yawma
(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ
l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
بِكُلِّ
bikulli
of every
شَىْءٍ
shayin
thing
عَلِيمٌ
ʿalīmun
(is) All-Knower
Have you not considered that Allāh knows what is in the heavens and what is on the earth? There are not three in a private conversation but that He is the fourth of them,1 nor are there five but that He is the sixth of them - and no less than that and no more except that He is with them [in knowledge] wherever they are. Then He will inform them of what they did, on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed Allāh is, of all things, Knowing.

58:8
Ayah 58:8
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ نُهُوا۟ عَنِ ٱلنَّجْوَىٰ ثُمَّ يَعُودُونَ لِمَا نُهُوا۟ عَنْهُ وَيَتَنَـٰجَوْنَ بِٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِ وَمَعْصِيَتِ ٱلرَّسُولِ وَإِذَا جَآءُوكَ حَيَّوْكَ بِمَا لَمْ يُحَيِّكَ بِهِ ٱللَّهُ وَيَقُولُونَ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ لَوْلَا يُعَذِّبُنَا ٱللَّهُ بِمَا نَقُولُ ۚ حَسْبُهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ يَصْلَوْنَهَا ۖ فَبِئْسَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ
أَلَمْ
alam
Do not
تَرَ
tara
you see
إِلَى
ilā
[to]
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
نُهُوا۟
nuhū
were forbidden
عَنِ
ʿani
from
ٱلنَّجْوَىٰ
l-najwā
secret counsels
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
يَعُودُونَ
yaʿūdūna
they return
لِمَا
limā
to what
نُهُوا۟
nuhū
they were forbidden
عَنْهُ
ʿanhu
from [it]
وَيَتَنَـٰجَوْنَ
wayatanājawna
and they hold secret counsels
بِٱلْإِثْمِ
bil-ith'mi
for sin
وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِ
wal-ʿud'wāni
and aggression
وَمَعْصِيَتِ
wamaʿṣiyati
and disobedience
ٱلرَّسُولِ
l-rasūli
(to) the Messenger
وَإِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
جَآءُوكَ
jāūka
they come to you
حَيَّوْكَ
ḥayyawka
they greet you
بِمَا
bimā
with what
لَمْ
lam
not
يُحَيِّكَ
yuḥayyika
greets you
بِهِ
bihi
therewith
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
وَيَقُولُونَ
wayaqūlūna
and they say
فِىٓ
among
أَنفُسِهِمْ
anfusihim
themselves
لَوْلَا
lawlā
Why (does) not
يُعَذِّبُنَا
yuʿadhibunā
Allah punish us
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah punish us
بِمَا
bimā
for what
نَقُولُ
naqūlu
we say
حَسْبُهُمْ
ḥasbuhum
Sufficient (for) them
جَهَنَّمُ
jahannamu
(is) Hell
يَصْلَوْنَهَا
yaṣlawnahā
they will burn in it
فَبِئْسَ
fabi'sa
and worst is
ٱلْمَصِيرُ
l-maṣīru
the destination
Have you not considered those who were forbidden from private conversation [i.e., ridicule and conspiracy] and then return to that which they were forbidden and converse among themselves about sin and aggression and disobedience to the Messenger? And when they come to you, they greet you with that [word] by which Allāh does not greet you1 and say among themselves, "Why does Allāh not punish us for what we say?" Sufficient for them is Hell, which they will [enter to] burn, and wretched is the destination.

58:9
Ayah 58:9
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا تَنَـٰجَيْتُمْ فَلَا تَتَنَـٰجَوْا۟ بِٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِ وَمَعْصِيَتِ ٱلرَّسُولِ وَتَنَـٰجَوْا۟ بِٱلْبِرِّ وَٱلتَّقْوَىٰ ۖ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِىٓ إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
yāayyuhā
O you who believe
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
O you who believe
ءَامَنُوٓا۟
āmanū
O you who believe
إِذَا
idhā
When
تَنَـٰجَيْتُمْ
tanājaytum
you hold secret counsel
فَلَا
falā
then (do) not
تَتَنَـٰجَوْا۟
tatanājaw
hold secret counsel
بِٱلْإِثْمِ
bil-ith'mi
for sin
وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِ
wal-ʿud'wāni
and aggression
وَمَعْصِيَتِ
wamaʿṣiyati
and disobedience
ٱلرَّسُولِ
l-rasūli
(to) the Messenger
وَتَنَـٰجَوْا۟
watanājaw
but hold secret counsel
بِٱلْبِرِّ
bil-biri
for righteousness
وَٱلتَّقْوَىٰ
wal-taqwā
and piety
وَٱتَّقُوا۟
wa-ittaqū
And fear
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
ٱلَّذِىٓ
alladhī
the One Who
إِلَيْهِ
ilayhi
to Him
تُحْشَرُونَ
tuḥ'sharūna
you will be gathered
O you who have believed, when you converse privately, do not converse about sin and aggression and disobedience to the Messenger but converse about righteousness and piety. And fear Allāh, to whom you will be gathered.

58:10
Ayah 58:10
إِنَّمَا ٱلنَّجْوَىٰ مِنَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ لِيَحْزُنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَلَيْسَ بِضَآرِّهِمْ شَيْـًٔا إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
إِنَّمَا
innamā
Only
ٱلنَّجْوَىٰ
l-najwā
the secret counsels
مِنَ
mina
(are) from
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ
l-shayṭāni
the Shaitaan
لِيَحْزُنَ
liyaḥzuna
that he may grieve
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanū
believe
وَلَيْسَ
walaysa
but not
بِضَآرِّهِمْ
biḍārrihim
he (can) harm them
شَيْـًٔا
shayan
(in) anything
إِلَّا
illā
except
بِإِذْنِ
bi-idh'ni
by Allah's permission
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
by Allah's permission
وَعَلَى
waʿalā
And upon
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ
falyatawakkali
let put (their) trust
ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
l-mu'minūna
the believers
Private conversation is only from Satan that he may grieve those who have believed,1 but he will not harm them at all except by permission of Allāh. And upon Allāh let the believers rely.

58:11
Ayah 58:11
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَكُمْ تَفَسَّحُوا۟ فِى ٱلْمَجَـٰلِسِ فَٱفْسَحُوا۟ يَفْسَحِ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ ۖ وَإِذَا قِيلَ ٱنشُزُوا۟ فَٱنشُزُوا۟ يَرْفَعِ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنكُمْ وَٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْعِلْمَ دَرَجَـٰتٍ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
yāayyuhā
O you who believe
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
O you who believe
ءَامَنُوٓا۟
āmanū
O you who believe
إِذَا
idhā
When
قِيلَ
qīla
it is said
لَكُمْ
lakum
to you
تَفَسَّحُوا۟
tafassaḥū
Make room
فِى
in
ٱلْمَجَـٰلِسِ
l-majālisi
the assemblies
فَٱفْسَحُوا۟
fa-if'saḥū
then make room
يَفْسَحِ
yafsaḥi
Allah will make room
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah will make room
لَكُمْ
lakum
for you
وَإِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
قِيلَ
qīla
it is said
ٱنشُزُوا۟
unshuzū
Rise up
فَٱنشُزُوا۟
fa-unshuzū
then rise up
يَرْفَعِ
yarfaʿi
Allah will raise
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah will raise
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanū
believe
مِنكُمْ
minkum
among you
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
and those who
أُوتُوا۟
ūtū
were given
ٱلْعِلْمَ
l-ʿil'ma
the knowledge
دَرَجَـٰتٍ
darajātin
(in) degrees
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
بِمَا
bimā
of what
تَعْمَلُونَ
taʿmalūna
you do
خَبِيرٌ
khabīrun
(is) All-Aware
O you who have believed, when you are told, "Space yourselves" in assemblies, then make space; Allāh will make space for you.1 And when you are told, "Arise,"2 then arise; Allāh will raise those who have believed among you and those who were given knowledge, by degrees. And Allāh is Aware of what you do.

58:12
Ayah 58:12
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا نَـٰجَيْتُمُ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَقَدِّمُوا۟ بَيْنَ يَدَىْ نَجْوَىٰكُمْ صَدَقَةً ۚ ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ وَأَطْهَرُ ۚ فَإِن لَّمْ تَجِدُوا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
yāayyuhā
O you who believe
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
O you who believe
ءَامَنُوٓا۟
āmanū
O you who believe
إِذَا
idhā
When
نَـٰجَيْتُمُ
nājaytumu
you privately consult
ٱلرَّسُولَ
l-rasūla
the Messenger
فَقَدِّمُوا۟
faqaddimū
then offer
بَيْنَ
bayna
before
يَدَىْ
yaday
before
نَجْوَىٰكُمْ
najwākum
your private consultation
صَدَقَةً
ṣadaqatan
charity
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
That
خَيْرٌ
khayrun
(is) better
لَّكُمْ
lakum
for you
وَأَطْهَرُ
wa-aṭharu
and purer
فَإِن
fa-in
But if
لَّمْ
lam
not
تَجِدُوا۟
tajidū
you find
فَإِنَّ
fa-inna
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
غَفُورٌ
ghafūrun
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌ
raḥīmun
Most Merciful
O you who have believed, when you [wish to] privately consult the Messenger, present before your consultation a charity. That is better for you and purer. But if you find not [the means] - then indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.

58:13
Ayah 58:13
ءَأَشْفَقْتُمْ أَن تُقَدِّمُوا۟ بَيْنَ يَدَىْ نَجْوَىٰكُمْ صَدَقَـٰتٍ ۚ فَإِذْ لَمْ تَفْعَلُوا۟ وَتَابَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
ءَأَشْفَقْتُمْ
a-ashfaqtum
Are you afraid
أَن
an
to
تُقَدِّمُوا۟
tuqaddimū
offer
بَيْنَ
bayna
before
يَدَىْ
yaday
before
نَجْوَىٰكُمْ
najwākum
your private consultation
صَدَقَـٰتٍ
ṣadaqātin
charities
فَإِذْ
fa-idh
Then when
لَمْ
lam
you do not
تَفْعَلُوا۟
tafʿalū
you do not
وَتَابَ
watāba
and Allah has forgiven
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
and Allah has forgiven
عَلَيْكُمْ
ʿalaykum
you
فَأَقِيمُوا۟
fa-aqīmū
then establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
l-ṣalata
the prayer
وَءَاتُوا۟
waātū
and give
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
l-zakata
the zakah
وَأَطِيعُوا۟
wa-aṭīʿū
and obey
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
وَرَسُولَهُۥ
warasūlahu
and His Messenger
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
خَبِيرٌۢ
khabīrun
(is) All-Aware
بِمَا
bimā
of what
تَعْمَلُونَ
taʿmalūna
you do
Have you feared to present before your consultation charities? Then when you do not and Allāh has forgiven you, then [at least] establish prayer and give zakāh and obey Allāh and His Messenger. And Allāh is Aware of what you do.

58:14
Ayah 58:14
۞ أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ تَوَلَّوْا۟ قَوْمًا غَضِبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم مَّا هُم مِّنكُمْ وَلَا مِنْهُمْ وَيَحْلِفُونَ عَلَى ٱلْكَذِبِ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ
أَلَمْ
alam
Do not
تَرَ
tara
you see
إِلَى
ilā
[to]
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
تَوَلَّوْا۟
tawallaw
take as allies
قَوْمًا
qawman
a people
غَضِبَ
ghaḍiba
wrath
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
(of) Allah
عَلَيْهِم
ʿalayhim
(is) upon them
مَّا
They (are) not
هُم
hum
They (are) not
مِّنكُمْ
minkum
of you
وَلَا
walā
and not
مِنْهُمْ
min'hum
of them
وَيَحْلِفُونَ
wayaḥlifūna
and they swear
عَلَى
ʿalā
to
ٱلْكَذِبِ
l-kadhibi
the lie
وَهُمْ
wahum
while they
يَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūna
know
Have you not considered those who make allies of a people with whom Allāh has become angry? They are neither of you nor of them, and they swear to untruth while they know [they are lying].

58:15
Ayah 58:15
أَعَدَّ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا ۖ إِنَّهُمْ سَآءَ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
أَعَدَّ
aʿadda
Allah has prepared
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah has prepared
لَهُمْ
lahum
for them
عَذَابًا
ʿadhāban
a punishment
شَدِيدًا
shadīdan
severe
إِنَّهُمْ
innahum
Indeed, [they]
سَآءَ
sāa
evil is
مَا
what
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they used to
يَعْمَلُونَ
yaʿmalūna
do
Allāh has prepared for them a severe punishment. Indeed, it was evil that they were doing.

58:16
Ayah 58:16
ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟ أَيْمَـٰنَهُمْ جُنَّةً فَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ
ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟
ittakhadhū
They have taken
أَيْمَـٰنَهُمْ
aymānahum
their oaths
جُنَّةً
junnatan
(as) a cover
فَصَدُّوا۟
faṣaddū
so they hinder
عَن
ʿan
from
سَبِيلِ
sabīli
(the) way of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(the) way of Allah
فَلَهُمْ
falahum
so for them
عَذَابٌ
ʿadhābun
(is) a punishment
مُّهِينٌ
muhīnun
humiliating
They took their [false] oaths as a cover, so they averted [people] from the way of Allāh, and for them is a humiliating punishment.

58:17
Ayah 58:17
لَّن تُغْنِىَ عَنْهُمْ أَمْوَٰلُهُمْ وَلَآ أَوْلَـٰدُهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ ۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ
لَّن
lan
Never
تُغْنِىَ
tugh'niya
will avail
عَنْهُمْ
ʿanhum
them
أَمْوَٰلُهُمْ
amwāluhum
their wealth
وَلَآ
walā
and not
أَوْلَـٰدُهُم
awlāduhum
their children
مِّنَ
mina
against
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
شَيْـًٔا
shayan
(in) anything
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
Those
أَصْحَـٰبُ
aṣḥābu
(will be) companions
ٱلنَّارِ
l-nāri
(of) the Fire
هُمْ
hum
they
فِيهَا
fīhā
in it
خَـٰلِدُونَ
khālidūna
will abide forever
Never will their wealth or their children avail them against Allāh at all. Those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally

58:18
Ayah 58:18
يَوْمَ يَبْعَثُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ جَمِيعًا فَيَحْلِفُونَ لَهُۥ كَمَا يَحْلِفُونَ لَكُمْ ۖ وَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُمْ عَلَىٰ شَىْءٍ ۚ أَلَآ إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ ٱلْكَـٰذِبُونَ
يَوْمَ
yawma
(On the) Day
يَبْعَثُهُمُ
yabʿathuhumu
Allah will raise them
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah will raise them
جَمِيعًا
jamīʿan
all
فَيَحْلِفُونَ
fayaḥlifūna
then they will swear
لَهُۥ
lahu
to Him
كَمَا
kamā
as
يَحْلِفُونَ
yaḥlifūna
they swear
لَكُمْ
lakum
to you
وَيَحْسَبُونَ
wayaḥsabūna
And they think
أَنَّهُمْ
annahum
that they
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
(are) on
شَىْءٍ
shayin
something
أَلَآ
alā
No doubt
إِنَّهُمْ
innahum
Indeed, they
هُمُ
humu
[they]
ٱلْكَـٰذِبُونَ
l-kādhibūna
(are) the liars
On the Day Allāh will resurrect them all, and they will swear to Him as they swear to you and think that they are [standing] on something.1 Unquestionably, it is they who are the liars.

58:19
Ayah 58:19
ٱسْتَحْوَذَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ فَأَنسَىٰهُمْ ذِكْرَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ حِزْبُ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ ۚ أَلَآ إِنَّ حِزْبَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ هُمُ ٱلْخَـٰسِرُونَ
ٱسْتَحْوَذَ
is'taḥwadha
Has overcome
عَلَيْهِمُ
ʿalayhimu
them
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ
l-shayṭānu
the Shaitaan
فَأَنسَىٰهُمْ
fa-ansāhum
so he made them forget
ذِكْرَ
dhik'ra
(the) remembrance
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
Those
حِزْبُ
ḥiz'bu
(are the) party
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ
l-shayṭāni
(of) the Shaitaan
أَلَآ
alā
No doubt
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
حِزْبَ
ḥiz'ba
(the) party
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ
l-shayṭāni
(of) the Shaitaan
هُمُ
humu
they
ٱلْخَـٰسِرُونَ
l-khāsirūna
(will be) the losers
Satan has overcome them and made them forget the remembrance of Allāh. Those are the party of Satan. Unquestionably, the party of Satan - they will be the losers.

58:20
Ayah 58:20
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُحَآدُّونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ فِى ٱلْأَذَلِّينَ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
يُحَآدُّونَ
yuḥāddūna
oppose
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ
warasūlahu
and His Messenger
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
those
فِى
(will be) among
ٱلْأَذَلِّينَ
l-adhalīna
the most humiliated
Indeed, the ones who oppose Allāh and His Messenger - those will be among the most humbled.

58:21
Ayah 58:21
كَتَبَ ٱللَّهُ لَأَغْلِبَنَّ أَنَا۠ وَرُسُلِىٓ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَوِىٌّ عَزِيزٌ
كَتَبَ
kataba
Allah has decreed
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah has decreed
لَأَغْلِبَنَّ
la-aghlibanna
Surely, I will overcome
أَنَا۠
anā
I
وَرُسُلِىٓ
warusulī
and My Messengers
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
قَوِىٌّ
qawiyyun
(is) All-Strong
عَزِيزٌ
ʿazīzun
All-Mighty
Allāh has written [i.e., decreed], "I will surely overcome, I and My messengers." Indeed, Allāh is Powerful and Exalted in Might.

58:22
Ayah 58:22
لَّا تَجِدُ قَوْمًا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ يُوَآدُّونَ مَنْ حَآدَّ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَلَوْ كَانُوٓا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ أَوْ أَبْنَآءَهُمْ أَوْ إِخْوَٰنَهُمْ أَوْ عَشِيرَتَهُمْ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ كَتَبَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلْإِيمَـٰنَ وَأَيَّدَهُم بِرُوحٍ مِّنْهُ ۖ وَيُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنَّـٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ رَضِىَ ٱللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا۟ عَنْهُ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ حِزْبُ ٱللَّهِ ۚ أَلَآ إِنَّ حِزْبَ ٱللَّهِ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ
لَّا
You will not find
تَجِدُ
tajidu
You will not find
قَوْمًا
qawman
a people
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūna
who believe
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
in Allah
وَٱلْيَوْمِ
wal-yawmi
and the Day
ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ
l-ākhiri
the Last
يُوَآدُّونَ
yuwāddūna
loving
مَنْ
man
(those) who
حَآدَّ
ḥādda
oppose
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
وَرَسُولَهُۥ
warasūlahu
and His Messenger
وَلَوْ
walaw
even if
كَانُوٓا۟
kānū
they were
ءَابَآءَهُمْ
ābāahum
their fathers
أَوْ
aw
or
أَبْنَآءَهُمْ
abnāahum
their sons
أَوْ
aw
or
إِخْوَٰنَهُمْ
ikh'wānahum
their brothers
أَوْ
aw
or
عَشِيرَتَهُمْ
ʿashīratahum
their kindred
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
Those
كَتَبَ
kataba
He has decreed
فِى
within
قُلُوبِهِمُ
qulūbihimu
their hearts
ٱلْإِيمَـٰنَ
l-īmāna
faith
وَأَيَّدَهُم
wa-ayyadahum
and supported them
بِرُوحٍ
birūḥin
with a spirit
مِّنْهُ
min'hu
from Him
وَيُدْخِلُهُمْ
wayud'khiluhum
And He will admit them
جَنَّـٰتٍ
jannātin
(to) Gardens
تَجْرِى
tajrī
flow
مِن
min
from
تَحْتِهَا
taḥtihā
underneath it
ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ
l-anhāru
the rivers
خَـٰلِدِينَ
khālidīna
will abide forever
فِيهَا
fīhā
in it
رَضِىَ
raḍiya
Allah is pleased
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah is pleased
عَنْهُمْ
ʿanhum
with them
وَرَضُوا۟
waraḍū
and they are pleased
عَنْهُ
ʿanhu
with Him
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
Those
حِزْبُ
ḥiz'bu
(are the) party
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
أَلَآ
alā
No doubt
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
حِزْبَ
ḥiz'ba
(the) party
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
هُمُ
humu
they
ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ
l-muf'liḥūna
(are) the successful ones
You will not find a people who believe in Allāh and the Last Day having affection for those who oppose Allāh and His Messenger, even if they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their kindred. Those - He has decreed within their hearts faith and supported them with spirit1 from Him. And We will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. Allāh is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him - those are the party of Allāh. Unquestionably, the party of Allāh - they are the successful.
