59:1
Ayah 59:1
سَبَّحَ لِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ
سَبَّحَ
sabbaḥa
Glorifies
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
[to] Allah
مَا
whatever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَمَا
wamā
and whatever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
And He
ٱلْعَزِيزُ
l-ʿazīzu
(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلْحَكِيمُ
l-ḥakīmu
the All-Wise
Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth exalts Allāh,1 and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

59:2
Ayah 59:2
هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَخْرَجَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مِن دِيَـٰرِهِمْ لِأَوَّلِ ٱلْحَشْرِ ۚ مَا ظَنَنتُمْ أَن يَخْرُجُوا۟ ۖ وَظَنُّوٓا۟ أَنَّهُم مَّانِعَتُهُمْ حُصُونُهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ فَأَتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَمْ يَحْتَسِبُوا۟ ۖ وَقَذَفَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلرُّعْبَ ۚ يُخْرِبُونَ بُيُوتَهُم بِأَيْدِيهِمْ وَأَيْدِى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَٱعْتَبِرُوا۟ يَـٰٓأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرِ
هُوَ
huwa
He
ٱلَّذِىٓ
alladhī
(is) the One Who
أَخْرَجَ
akhraja
expelled
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieved
مِنْ
min
from
أَهْلِ
ahli
(the) People
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
l-kitābi
(of) the Scripture
مِن
min
from
دِيَـٰرِهِمْ
diyārihim
their homes
لِأَوَّلِ
li-awwali
at (the) first
ٱلْحَشْرِ
l-ḥashri
gathering
مَا
Not
ظَنَنتُمْ
ẓanantum
you think
أَن
an
that
يَخْرُجُوا۟
yakhrujū
they would leave
وَظَنُّوٓا۟
waẓannū
and they thought
أَنَّهُم
annahum
that [they]
مَّانِعَتُهُمْ
māniʿatuhum
would defend them
حُصُونُهُم
ḥuṣūnuhum
their fortresses
مِّنَ
mina
against
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
فَأَتَىٰهُمُ
fa-atāhumu
But came to them
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
مِنْ
min
from
حَيْثُ
ḥaythu
where
لَمْ
lam
not
يَحْتَسِبُوا۟
yaḥtasibū
they expected
وَقَذَفَ
waqadhafa
and He cast
فِى
into
قُلُوبِهِمُ
qulūbihimu
their hearts
ٱلرُّعْبَ
l-ruʿ'ba
[the] terror
يُخْرِبُونَ
yukh'ribūna
they destroyed
بُيُوتَهُم
buyūtahum
their houses
بِأَيْدِيهِمْ
bi-aydīhim
with their hands
وَأَيْدِى
wa-aydī
and the hands
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
l-mu'minīna
(of) the believers
فَٱعْتَبِرُوا۟
fa-iʿ'tabirū
So take a lesson
يَـٰٓأُو۟لِى
yāulī
O those endowed
ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرِ
l-abṣāri
(with) insight
It is He who expelled the ones who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture1 from their homes at the first gathering.2 You did not think they would leave, and they thought that their fortresses would protect them from Allāh; but [the decree of] Allāh came upon them from where they had not expected, and He cast terror into their hearts [so] they destroyed their houses by their [own] hands and the hands of the believers. So take warning, O people of vision.

59:3
Ayah 59:3
وَلَوْلَآ أَن كَتَبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْجَلَآءَ لَعَذَّبَهُمْ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَهُمْ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ عَذَابُ ٱلنَّارِ
وَلَوْلَآ
walawlā
And if not
أَن
an
[that]
كَتَبَ
kataba
(had) decreed
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
عَلَيْهِمُ
ʿalayhimu
for them
ٱلْجَلَآءَ
l-jalāa
the exile
لَعَذَّبَهُمْ
laʿadhabahum
certainly He (would) have punished them
فِى
in
ٱلدُّنْيَا
l-dun'yā
the world
وَلَهُمْ
walahum
and for them
فِى
in
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ
l-ākhirati
the Hereafter
عَذَابُ
ʿadhābu
(is) a punishment
ٱلنَّارِ
l-nāri
(of) the Fire
And if not that Allāh had decreed for them evacuation, He would have punished them in [this] world, and for them in the Hereafter is the punishment of the Fire.

59:4
Ayah 59:4
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ شَآقُّوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ ۖ وَمَن يُشَآقِّ ٱللَّهَ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
That
بِأَنَّهُمْ
bi-annahum
(is) because [they]
شَآقُّوا۟
shāqqū
they opposed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
وَرَسُولَهُۥ
warasūlahu
and His Messenger
وَمَن
waman
And whoever
يُشَآقِّ
yushāqqi
opposes
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
فَإِنَّ
fa-inna
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
شَدِيدُ
shadīdu
(is) severe
ٱلْعِقَابِ
l-ʿiqābi
(in) penalty
That is because they opposed Allāh and His Messenger. And whoever opposes Allāh - then indeed, Allāh is severe in penalty.

59:5
Ayah 59:5
مَا قَطَعْتُم مِّن لِّينَةٍ أَوْ تَرَكْتُمُوهَا قَآئِمَةً عَلَىٰٓ أُصُولِهَا فَبِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِيُخْزِىَ ٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَ
مَا
Whatever
قَطَعْتُم
qaṭaʿtum
you cut down
مِّن
min
of
لِّينَةٍ
līnatin
(the) palm-trees
أَوْ
aw
or
تَرَكْتُمُوهَا
taraktumūhā
you left them
قَآئِمَةً
qāimatan
standing
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalā
on
أُصُولِهَا
uṣūlihā
their roots
فَبِإِذْنِ
fabi-idh'ni
it (was) by the permission
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَلِيُخْزِىَ
waliyukh'ziya
and that He may disgrace
ٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَ
l-fāsiqīna
the defiantly disobedient
Whatever you have cut down of [their] palm trees or left standing on their trunks - it was by permission of Allāh and so He would disgrace the defiantly disobedient.

59:6
Ayah 59:6
وَمَآ أَفَآءَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ مِنْهُمْ فَمَآ أَوْجَفْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ خَيْلٍ وَلَا رِكَابٍ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُسَلِّطُ رُسُلَهُۥ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
وَمَآ
wamā
And what
أَفَآءَ
afāa
(was) restored
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
(by) Allah
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
to
رَسُولِهِۦ
rasūlihi
His Messenger
مِنْهُمْ
min'hum
from them
فَمَآ
famā
then not
أَوْجَفْتُمْ
awjaftum
you made expedition
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhi
for it
مِنْ
min
of
خَيْلٍ
khaylin
horses
وَلَا
walā
and not
رِكَابٍ
rikābin
camels
وَلَـٰكِنَّ
walākinna
but
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
يُسَلِّطُ
yusalliṭu
gives power
رُسُلَهُۥ
rusulahu
(to) His Messengers
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
over
مَن
man
whom
يَشَآءُ
yashāu
He wills
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
(is) on
كُلِّ
kulli
every
شَىْءٍ
shayin
thing
قَدِيرٌ
qadīrun
All-Powerful
And what Allāh restored [of property] to His Messenger from them - you did not spur for it [in an expedition] any horses or camels,1 but Allāh gives His messengers power over whom He wills, and Allāh is over all things competent.

59:7
Ayah 59:7
مَّآ أَفَآءَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْقُرَىٰ فَلِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ وَلِذِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَٱلْيَتَـٰمَىٰ وَٱلْمَسَـٰكِينِ وَٱبْنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ كَىْ لَا يَكُونَ دُولَةًۢ بَيْنَ ٱلْأَغْنِيَآءِ مِنكُمْ ۚ وَمَآ ءَاتَىٰكُمُ ٱلرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَىٰكُمْ عَنْهُ فَٱنتَهُوا۟ ۚ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ
مَّآ
What
أَفَآءَ
afāa
(was) restored
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
(by) Allah
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
to
رَسُولِهِۦ
rasūlihi
His Messenger
مِنْ
min
from
أَهْلِ
ahli
(the) people
ٱلْقُرَىٰ
l-qurā
(of) the towns
فَلِلَّهِ
falillahi
(it is) for Allah
وَلِلرَّسُولِ
walilrrasūli
and His Messenger
وَلِذِى
walidhī
and for those
ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ
l-qur'bā
(of) the kindred
وَٱلْيَتَـٰمَىٰ
wal-yatāmā
and the orphans
وَٱلْمَسَـٰكِينِ
wal-masākīni
and the needy
وَٱبْنِ
wa-ib'ni
and
ٱلسَّبِيلِ
l-sabīli
the wayfarer
كَىْ
kay
that
لَا
not
يَكُونَ
yakūna
it becomes
دُولَةًۢ
dūlatan
a (perpetual) circulation
بَيْنَ
bayna
between
ٱلْأَغْنِيَآءِ
l-aghniyāi
the rich
مِنكُمْ
minkum
among you
وَمَآ
wamā
And whatever
ءَاتَىٰكُمُ
ātākumu
gives you
ٱلرَّسُولُ
l-rasūlu
the Messenger
فَخُذُوهُ
fakhudhūhu
take it
وَمَا
wamā
and whatever
نَهَىٰكُمْ
nahākum
he forbids you
عَنْهُ
ʿanhu
from it
فَٱنتَهُوا۟
fa-intahū
refrain
وَٱتَّقُوا۟
wa-ittaqū
And fear
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
شَدِيدُ
shadīdu
(is) severe
ٱلْعِقَابِ
l-ʿiqābi
(in) penalty
And what Allāh restored to His Messenger from the people of the towns - it is for Allāh and for the Messenger and for [his] near relatives1 and orphans and the needy and the [stranded] traveler2 - so that it will not be a perpetual distribution among the rich from among you. And whatever the Messenger has given you - take; and what he has forbidden you - refrain from. And fear Allāh; indeed, Allāh is severe in penalty.

59:8
Ayah 59:8
لِلْفُقَرَآءِ ٱلْمُهَـٰجِرِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُخْرِجُوا۟ مِن دِيَـٰرِهِمْ وَأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ يَبْتَغُونَ فَضْلًا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرِضْوَٰنًا وَيَنصُرُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلصَّـٰدِقُونَ
لِلْفُقَرَآءِ
lil'fuqarāi
For the poor
ٱلْمُهَـٰجِرِينَ
l-muhājirīna
emigrants
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
أُخْرِجُوا۟
ukh'rijū
were expelled
مِن
min
from
دِيَـٰرِهِمْ
diyārihim
their homes
وَأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ
wa-amwālihim
and their properties
يَبْتَغُونَ
yabtaghūna
seeking
فَضْلًا
faḍlan
bounty
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
وَرِضْوَٰنًا
wariḍ'wānan
and pleasure
وَيَنصُرُونَ
wayanṣurūna
and helping
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ
warasūlahu
and His Messenger
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
Those
هُمُ
humu
they
ٱلصَّـٰدِقُونَ
l-ṣādiqūna
(are) the truthful
For the poor emigrants who were expelled from their homes and their properties, seeking bounty from Allāh and [His] approval and supporting [the cause of] Allāh and His Messenger, [there is also a share]. Those are the truthful.

59:9
Ayah 59:9
وَٱلَّذِينَ تَبَوَّءُو ٱلدَّارَ وَٱلْإِيمَـٰنَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ يُحِبُّونَ مَنْ هَاجَرَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَلَا يَجِدُونَ فِى صُدُورِهِمْ حَاجَةً مِّمَّآ أُوتُوا۟ وَيُؤْثِرُونَ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَلَوْ كَانَ بِهِمْ خَصَاصَةٌ ۚ وَمَن يُوقَ شُحَّ نَفْسِهِۦ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
And those who
تَبَوَّءُو
tabawwaū
settled
ٱلدَّارَ
l-dāra
(in) the home
وَٱلْإِيمَـٰنَ
wal-īmāna
and (accepted) faith
مِن
min
from
قَبْلِهِمْ
qablihim
before them
يُحِبُّونَ
yuḥibbūna
love
مَنْ
man
(those) who
هَاجَرَ
hājara
emigrated
إِلَيْهِمْ
ilayhim
to them
وَلَا
walā
and not
يَجِدُونَ
yajidūna
they find
فِى
in
صُدُورِهِمْ
ṣudūrihim
their breasts
حَاجَةً
ḥājatan
any want
مِّمَّآ
mimmā
of what
أُوتُوا۟
ūtū
they were given
وَيُؤْثِرُونَ
wayu'thirūna
but prefer
عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalā
over
أَنفُسِهِمْ
anfusihim
themselves
وَلَوْ
walaw
even though
كَانَ
kāna
was
بِهِمْ
bihim
with them
خَصَاصَةٌ
khaṣāṣatun
poverty
وَمَن
waman
And whoever
يُوقَ
yūqa
is saved
شُحَّ
shuḥḥa
(from) stinginess
نَفْسِهِۦ
nafsihi
(of) his soul
فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
fa-ulāika
then those
هُمُ
humu
[they]
ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ
l-muf'liḥūna
(are) the successful ones
And [also for] those who were settled in the Home [i.e.,al-Madīnah] and [adopted] the faith before them.1 They love those who emigrated to them and find not any want in their breasts of what they [i.e., the emigrants] were given but give [them] preference over themselves, even though they are in privation. And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful.

59:10
Ayah 59:10
وَٱلَّذِينَ جَآءُو مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا ٱغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلِإِخْوَٰنِنَا ٱلَّذِينَ سَبَقُونَا بِٱلْإِيمَـٰنِ وَلَا تَجْعَلْ فِى قُلُوبِنَا غِلًّا لِّلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ رَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
And those who
جَآءُو
jāū
came
مِنۢ
min
from
بَعْدِهِمْ
baʿdihim
after them
يَقُولُونَ
yaqūlūna
they say
رَبَّنَا
rabbanā
Our Lord
ٱغْفِرْ
igh'fir
forgive
لَنَا
lanā
us
وَلِإِخْوَٰنِنَا
wali-ikh'wāninā
and our brothers
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
who
سَبَقُونَا
sabaqūnā
preceded us
بِٱلْإِيمَـٰنِ
bil-īmāni
in faith
وَلَا
walā
and (do) not
تَجْعَلْ
tajʿal
put
فِى
in
قُلُوبِنَا
qulūbinā
our hearts
غِلًّا
ghillan
any rancor
لِّلَّذِينَ
lilladhīna
towards those who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanū
believed
رَبَّنَآ
rabbanā
Our Lord
إِنَّكَ
innaka
indeed You
رَءُوفٌ
raūfun
(are) Full of Kindness
رَّحِيمٌ
raḥīmun
Most Merciful
And [there is a share for] those who come after them, saying, "Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts [any] resentment toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful."

59:11
Ayah 59:11
۞ أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ نَافَقُوا۟ يَقُولُونَ لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَئِنْ أُخْرِجْتُمْ لَنَخْرُجَنَّ مَعَكُمْ وَلَا نُطِيعُ فِيكُمْ أَحَدًا أَبَدًا وَإِن قُوتِلْتُمْ لَنَنصُرَنَّكُمْ وَٱللَّهُ يَشْهَدُ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ
أَلَمْ
alam
Do not
تَرَ
tara
you see
إِلَى
ilā
[to]
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
نَافَقُوا۟
nāfaqū
(were) hypocrites
يَقُولُونَ
yaqūlūna
saying
لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمُ
li-ikh'wānihimu
to their brothers
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieved
مِنْ
min
among
أَهْلِ
ahli
the People
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
l-kitābi
(of) the Scripture
لَئِنْ
la-in
If
أُخْرِجْتُمْ
ukh'rij'tum
you are expelled
لَنَخْرُجَنَّ
lanakhrujanna
surely we will leave
مَعَكُمْ
maʿakum
with you
وَلَا
walā
and not
نُطِيعُ
nuṭīʿu
we will obey
فِيكُمْ
fīkum
concerning you
أَحَدًا
aḥadan
anyone
أَبَدًا
abadan
ever
وَإِن
wa-in
and if
قُوتِلْتُمْ
qūtil'tum
you are fought
لَنَنصُرَنَّكُمْ
lananṣurannakum
certainly we will help you
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
يَشْهَدُ
yashhadu
bears witness
إِنَّهُمْ
innahum
that they
لَكَـٰذِبُونَ
lakādhibūna
(are) surely liars
Have you not considered those who practice hypocrisy, saying to their brothers [i.e., associates] who have disbelieved among the People of the Scripture, "If you are expelled, we will surely leave with you, and we will not obey, in regard to you, anyone - ever; and if you are fought, we will surely aid you." But Allāh testifies that they are liars.

59:12
Ayah 59:12
لَئِنْ أُخْرِجُوا۟ لَا يَخْرُجُونَ مَعَهُمْ وَلَئِن قُوتِلُوا۟ لَا يَنصُرُونَهُمْ وَلَئِن نَّصَرُوهُمْ لَيُوَلُّنَّ ٱلْأَدْبَـٰرَ ثُمَّ لَا يُنصَرُونَ
لَئِنْ
la-in
If
أُخْرِجُوا۟
ukh'rijū
they are expelled
لَا
not
يَخْرُجُونَ
yakhrujūna
they will leave
مَعَهُمْ
maʿahum
with them
وَلَئِن
wala-in
and if
قُوتِلُوا۟
qūtilū
they are fought
لَا
not
يَنصُرُونَهُمْ
yanṣurūnahum
they will help them
وَلَئِن
wala-in
And if
نَّصَرُوهُمْ
naṣarūhum
they help them
لَيُوَلُّنَّ
layuwallunna
certainly they will turn
ٱلْأَدْبَـٰرَ
l-adbāra
(their) backs
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
لَا
not
يُنصَرُونَ
yunṣarūna
they will be helped
If they are expelled, they will not leave with them, and if they are fought, they will not aid them. And [even] if they should aid them, they will surely turn their backs; then [thereafter] they will not be aided.

59:13
Ayah 59:13
لَأَنتُمْ أَشَدُّ رَهْبَةً فِى صُدُورِهِم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَّا يَفْقَهُونَ
لَأَنتُمْ
la-antum
Certainly you
أَشَدُّ
ashaddu
(are) more intense
رَهْبَةً
rahbatan
(in) fear
فِى
in
صُدُورِهِم
ṣudūrihim
their breasts
مِّنَ
mina
than
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
That
بِأَنَّهُمْ
bi-annahum
(is) because they
قَوْمٌ
qawmun
(are) a people
لَّا
(who do) not
يَفْقَهُونَ
yafqahūna
understand
You [believers] are more fearful within their breasts than Allāh. That is because they are a people who do not understand.

59:14
Ayah 59:14
لَا يُقَـٰتِلُونَكُمْ جَمِيعًا إِلَّا فِى قُرًى مُّحَصَّنَةٍ أَوْ مِن وَرَآءِ جُدُرٍۭ ۚ بَأْسُهُم بَيْنَهُمْ شَدِيدٌ ۚ تَحْسَبُهُمْ جَمِيعًا وَقُلُوبُهُمْ شَتَّىٰ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَّا يَعْقِلُونَ
لَا
Not
يُقَـٰتِلُونَكُمْ
yuqātilūnakum
will they fight you
جَمِيعًا
jamīʿan
all
إِلَّا
illā
except
فِى
in
قُرًى
quran
towns
مُّحَصَّنَةٍ
muḥaṣṣanatin
fortified
أَوْ
aw
or
مِن
min
from
وَرَآءِ
warāi
behind
جُدُرٍۭ
judurin
walls
بَأْسُهُم
basuhum
Their violence
بَيْنَهُمْ
baynahum
among themselves
شَدِيدٌ
shadīdun
(is) severe
تَحْسَبُهُمْ
taḥsabuhum
You think they
جَمِيعًا
jamīʿan
(are) united
وَقُلُوبُهُمْ
waqulūbuhum
but their hearts
شَتَّىٰ
shattā
(are) divided
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
That
بِأَنَّهُمْ
bi-annahum
(is) because they
قَوْمٌ
qawmun
(are) a people
لَّا
not
يَعْقِلُونَ
yaʿqilūna
they reason
They will not fight you all except within fortified cities or from behind walls. Their violence [i.e., enmity] among themselves is severe. You think they are together, but their hearts are diverse. That is because they are a people who do not reason.

59:15
Ayah 59:15
كَمَثَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ قَرِيبًا ۖ ذَاقُوا۟ وَبَالَ أَمْرِهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
كَمَثَلِ
kamathali
Like (the) example
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
(of) those
مِن
min
from
قَبْلِهِمْ
qablihim
before them
قَرِيبًا
qarīban
shortly
ذَاقُوا۟
dhāqū
they tasted
وَبَالَ
wabāla
(the) evil result
أَمْرِهِمْ
amrihim
(of) their affair
وَلَهُمْ
walahum
and for them
عَذَابٌ
ʿadhābun
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٌ
alīmun
painful
[Theirs is] like the example of those shortly before them: they tasted the bad consequence of their affair, and they will have a painful punishment.

59:16
Ayah 59:16
كَمَثَلِ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ إِذْ قَالَ لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ ٱكْفُرْ فَلَمَّا كَفَرَ قَالَ إِنِّى بَرِىٓءٌ مِّنكَ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ ٱللَّهَ رَبَّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
كَمَثَلِ
kamathali
Like (the) example
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ
l-shayṭāni
(of) the Shaitaan
إِذْ
idh
when
قَالَ
qāla
he says
لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ
lil'insāni
to man
ٱكْفُرْ
uk'fur
Disbelieve
فَلَمَّا
falammā
But when
كَفَرَ
kafara
he disbelieves
قَالَ
qāla
he says
إِنِّى
innī
Indeed, I am
بَرِىٓءٌ
barīon
disassociated
مِّنكَ
minka
from you
إِنِّىٓ
innī
Indeed, [I]
أَخَافُ
akhāfu
I fear
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
رَبَّ
rabba
(the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
l-ʿālamīna
(of) the worlds
[The hypocrites are] like the example of Satan when he says to man, "Disbelieve." But when he disbelieves, he says, "Indeed, I am disassociated from you. Indeed, I fear Allāh, Lord of the worlds."

59:17
Ayah 59:17
فَكَانَ عَـٰقِبَتَهُمَآ أَنَّهُمَا فِى ٱلنَّارِ خَـٰلِدَيْنِ فِيهَا ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ جَزَٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
فَكَانَ
fakāna
So will be
عَـٰقِبَتَهُمَآ
ʿāqibatahumā
(the) end of both of them
أَنَّهُمَا
annahumā
that they
فِى
(will be) in
ٱلنَّارِ
l-nāri
the Fire
خَـٰلِدَيْنِ
khālidayni
abiding forever
فِيهَا
fīhā
therein
وَذَٰلِكَ
wadhālika
And that
جَزَٰٓؤُا۟
jazāu
(is the) recompense
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīna
(of) the wrongdoers
So the outcome for both of them is that they will be in the Fire, abiding eternally therein. And that is the recompense of the wrongdoers.

59:18
Ayah 59:18
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلْتَنظُرْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ لِغَدٍ ۖ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
yāayyuhā
O
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
you (who)
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanū
believe
ٱتَّقُوا۟
ittaqū
Fear
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
وَلْتَنظُرْ
waltanẓur
and let look
نَفْسٌ
nafsun
every soul
مَّا
what
قَدَّمَتْ
qaddamat
it has sent forth
لِغَدٍ
lighadin
for tomorrow
وَٱتَّقُوا۟
wa-ittaqū
and fear
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
خَبِيرٌۢ
khabīrun
(is) All-Aware
بِمَا
bimā
of what
تَعْمَلُونَ
taʿmalūna
you do
O you who have believed, fear Allāh. And let every soul look to what it has put forth for tomorrow - and fear Allāh. Indeed, Allāh is Aware of what you do.

59:19
Ayah 59:19
وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِينَ نَسُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ فَأَنسَىٰهُمْ أَنفُسَهُمْ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَ
وَلَا
walā
And (do) not
تَكُونُوا۟
takūnū
be
كَٱلَّذِينَ
ka-alladhīna
like those who
نَسُوا۟
nasū
forgot
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
فَأَنسَىٰهُمْ
fa-ansāhum
so He made them forget
أَنفُسَهُمْ
anfusahum
themselves
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
Those
هُمُ
humu
[they]
ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَ
l-fāsiqūna
(are) the defiantly disobedient
And be not like those who forgot Allāh, so He made them forget themselves. Those are the defiantly disobedient.

59:20
Ayah 59:20
لَا يَسْتَوِىٓ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْجَنَّةِ ۚ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْجَنَّةِ هُمُ ٱلْفَآئِزُونَ
لَا
Not
يَسْتَوِىٓ
yastawī
equal
أَصْحَـٰبُ
aṣḥābu
(are the) companions
ٱلنَّارِ
l-nāri
(of) the Fire
وَأَصْحَـٰبُ
wa-aṣḥābu
and (the) companions
ٱلْجَنَّةِ
l-janati
(of) Paradise
أَصْحَـٰبُ
aṣḥābu
(The) companions
ٱلْجَنَّةِ
l-janati
(of) Paradise
هُمُ
humu
they
ٱلْفَآئِزُونَ
l-fāizūna
(are) the achievers
Not equal are the companions of the Fire and the companions of Paradise. The companions of Paradise - they are the attainers [of success].

59:21
Ayah 59:21
لَوْ أَنزَلْنَا هَـٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ عَلَىٰ جَبَلٍ لَّرَأَيْتَهُۥ خَـٰشِعًا مُّتَصَدِّعًا مِّنْ خَشْيَةِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَتِلْكَ ٱلْأَمْثَـٰلُ نَضْرِبُهَا لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
لَوْ
law
If
أَنزَلْنَا
anzalnā
We (had) sent down
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
this
ٱلْقُرْءَانَ
l-qur'āna
Quran
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
on
جَبَلٍ
jabalin
a mountain
لَّرَأَيْتَهُۥ
lara-aytahu
surely you (would) have seen it
خَـٰشِعًا
khāshiʿan
humbled
مُّتَصَدِّعًا
mutaṣaddiʿan
breaking asunder
مِّنْ
min
from
خَشْيَةِ
khashyati
(the) fear
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَتِلْكَ
watil'ka
And these
ٱلْأَمْثَـٰلُ
l-amthālu
examples
نَضْرِبُهَا
naḍribuhā
We present them
لِلنَّاسِ
lilnnāsi
to the people
لَعَلَّهُمْ
laʿallahum
so that they may
يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
yatafakkarūna
give thought
If We had sent down this Qur’ān upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and splitting from fear of Allāh. And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought.

59:22
Ayah 59:22
هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ عَـٰلِمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ ۖ هُوَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
هُوَ
huwa
He
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
(is) Allah
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
the One Who
لَآ
(there is) no
إِلَـٰهَ
ilāha
god
إِلَّا
illā
but
هُوَ
huwa
He
عَـٰلِمُ
ʿālimu
(the) All-Knower
ٱلْغَيْبِ
l-ghaybi
(of) the unseen
وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ
wal-shahādati
and the witnessed
هُوَ
huwa
He
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ
l-raḥmānu
(is) the Most Gracious
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
l-raḥīmu
the Most Merciful
He is Allāh, other than whom there is no deity, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed.1 He is the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

59:23
Ayah 59:23
هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلْمَلِكُ ٱلْقُدُّوسُ ٱلسَّلَـٰمُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُ ٱلْمُهَيْمِنُ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْجَبَّارُ ٱلْمُتَكَبِّرُ ۚ سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ
هُوَ
huwa
He
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
(is) Allah
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
the One Who
لَآ
(there is) no
إِلَـٰهَ
ilāha
god
إِلَّا
illā
but
هُوَ
huwa
He
ٱلْمَلِكُ
l-maliku
the Sovereign
ٱلْقُدُّوسُ
l-qudūsu
the Holy One
ٱلسَّلَـٰمُ
l-salāmu
the Giver of Peace
ٱلْمُؤْمِنُ
l-mu'minu
the Giver of Security
ٱلْمُهَيْمِنُ
l-muhayminu
the Guardian
ٱلْعَزِيزُ
l-ʿazīzu
the All-Mighty
ٱلْجَبَّارُ
l-jabāru
the Irresistible
ٱلْمُتَكَبِّرُ
l-mutakabiru
the Supreme
سُبْحَـٰنَ
sub'ḥāna
Glory (be to)
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
عَمَّا
ʿammā
from what
يُشْرِكُونَ
yush'rikūna
they associate (with Him)
He is Allāh, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign,1 the Pure,2 the Perfection,3 the Grantor of Security,4 the Overseer,5 the Exalted in Might,6 the Compeller,7 the Superior.8 Exalted is Allāh above whatever they associate with Him.

59:24
Ayah 59:24
هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقُ ٱلْبَارِئُ ٱلْمُصَوِّرُ ۖ لَهُ ٱلْأَسْمَآءُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۚ يُسَبِّحُ لَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ
هُوَ
huwa
He
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
(is) Allah
ٱلْخَـٰلِقُ
l-khāliqu
the Creator
ٱلْبَارِئُ
l-bāri-u
the Inventor
ٱلْمُصَوِّرُ
l-muṣawiru
the Fashioner
لَهُ
lahu
For Him
ٱلْأَسْمَآءُ
l-asmāu
(are) the names
ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ
l-ḥus'nā
the beautiful
يُسَبِّحُ
yusabbiḥu
Glorifies
لَهُۥ
lahu
Him
مَا
whatever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
wal-arḍi
and the earth
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
And He
ٱلْعَزِيزُ
l-ʿazīzu
(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلْحَكِيمُ
l-ḥakīmu
the All-Wise
He is Allāh, the Creator,1 the Producer,2 the Fashioner;3 to Him belong the best names.4 Whatever is in the heavens and earth is exalting Him. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.5
