62:1
Ayah 62:1
يُسَبِّحُ لِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلْمَلِكِ ٱلْقُدُّوسِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ
يُسَبِّحُ
yusabbiḥu
Glorifies
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
Allah
مَا
whatever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَمَا
wamā
and whatever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
ٱلْمَلِكِ
l-maliki
the Sovereign
ٱلْقُدُّوسِ
l-qudūsi
the Holy
ٱلْعَزِيزِ
l-ʿazīzi
the All-Mighty
ٱلْحَكِيمِ
l-ḥakīmi
the All-Wise
Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth is exalting Allāh,1 the Sovereign, the Pure, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.2

62:2
Ayah 62:2
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى بَعَثَ فِى ٱلْأُمِّيِّـۧنَ رَسُولًا مِّنْهُمْ يَتْلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَإِن كَانُوا۟ مِن قَبْلُ لَفِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ
هُوَ
huwa
He
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
(is) the One Who
بَعَثَ
baʿatha
sent
فِى
among
ٱلْأُمِّيِّـۧنَ
l-umiyīna
the unlettered
رَسُولًا
rasūlan
a Messenger
مِّنْهُمْ
min'hum
from themselves
يَتْلُوا۟
yatlū
reciting
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
to them
ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ
āyātihi
His Verses
وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ
wayuzakkīhim
and purifying them
وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ
wayuʿallimuhumu
and teaching them
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ
l-kitāba
the Book
وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ
wal-ḥik'mata
and the wisdom
وَإِن
wa-in
although
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they were
مِن
min
from
قَبْلُ
qablu
before
لَفِى
lafī
surely in
ضَلَـٰلٍ
ḍalālin
an error
مُّبِينٍ
mubīnin
clear
It is He who has sent among the unlettered [Arabs] a Messenger from themselves reciting to them His verses and purifying them and teaching them the Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] and wisdom [i.e., the sunnah] - although they were before in clear error -

62:3
Ayah 62:3
وَءَاخَرِينَ مِنْهُمْ لَمَّا يَلْحَقُوا۟ بِهِمْ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ
وَءَاخَرِينَ
waākharīna
And others
مِنْهُمْ
min'hum
among them
لَمَّا
lammā
who have not yet
يَلْحَقُوا۟
yalḥaqū
joined
بِهِمْ
bihim
them
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
and He
ٱلْعَزِيزُ
l-ʿazīzu
(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلْحَكِيمُ
l-ḥakīmu
the All-Wise
And [to] others of them who have not yet joined them. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

62:4
Ayah 62:4
ذَٰلِكَ فَضْلُ ٱللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ ذُو ٱلْفَضْلِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
That
فَضْلُ
faḍlu
(is the) Bounty
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
يُؤْتِيهِ
yu'tīhi
He gives it
مَن
man
(to) whom
يَشَآءُ
yashāu
He wills
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
ذُو
dhū
(is the) Possessor
ٱلْفَضْلِ
l-faḍli
(of) Bounty
ٱلْعَظِيمِ
l-ʿaẓīmi
the Great
That is the bounty of Allāh, which He gives to whom He wills, and Allāh is the possessor of great bounty.

62:5
Ayah 62:5
مَثَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ حُمِّلُوا۟ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَحْمِلُوهَا كَمَثَلِ ٱلْحِمَارِ يَحْمِلُ أَسْفَارًۢا ۚ بِئْسَ مَثَلُ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
مَثَلُ
mathalu
(The) likeness
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
(of) those who
حُمِّلُوا۟
ḥummilū
were entrusted
ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ
l-tawrāta
(with) the Taurat
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
لَمْ
lam
not
يَحْمِلُوهَا
yaḥmilūhā
they bore it
كَمَثَلِ
kamathali
(is) like
ٱلْحِمَارِ
l-ḥimāri
the donkey
يَحْمِلُ
yaḥmilu
who carries
أَسْفَارًۢا
asfāran
books
بِئْسَ
bi'sa
Wretched is
مَثَلُ
mathalu
(the) example
ٱلْقَوْمِ
l-qawmi
(of) the people
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
who
كَذَّبُوا۟
kadhabū
deny
بِـَٔايَـٰتِ
biāyāti
(the) Signs
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
لَا
(does) not
يَهْدِى
yahdī
guide
ٱلْقَوْمَ
l-qawma
the people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
l-ẓālimīna
the wrongdoers
The example of those who were entrusted with the Torah and then did not take it on1 is like that of a donkey who carries volumes [of books].2 Wretched is the example of the people who deny the signs of Allāh. And Allāh does not guide the wrongdoing people.

62:6
Ayah 62:6
قُلْ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوٓا۟ إِن زَعَمْتُمْ أَنَّكُمْ أَوْلِيَآءُ لِلَّهِ مِن دُونِ ٱلنَّاسِ فَتَمَنَّوُا۟ ٱلْمَوْتَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
قُلْ
qul
Say
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
yāayyuhā
O
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
you (who)
هَادُوٓا۟
hādū
(are) Jews
إِن
in
If
زَعَمْتُمْ
zaʿamtum
you claim
أَنَّكُمْ
annakum
that you
أَوْلِيَآءُ
awliyāu
(are) allies
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
of Allah
مِن
min
from
دُونِ
dūni
excluding
ٱلنَّاسِ
l-nāsi
the people
فَتَمَنَّوُا۟
fatamannawū
then wish
ٱلْمَوْتَ
l-mawta
(for) the death
إِن
in
if
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you are
صَـٰدِقِينَ
ṣādiqīna
truthful
Say, "O you who are Jews, if you claim that you are allies of Allāh, excluding the [other] people, then wish for death, if you should be truthful."

62:7
Ayah 62:7
وَلَا يَتَمَنَّوْنَهُۥٓ أَبَدًۢا بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
وَلَا
walā
But not
يَتَمَنَّوْنَهُۥٓ
yatamannawnahu
they will wish for it
أَبَدًۢا
abadan
ever
بِمَا
bimā
for what
قَدَّمَتْ
qaddamat
(have) sent forth
أَيْدِيهِمْ
aydīhim
their hands
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
عَلِيمٌۢ
ʿalīmun
(is) All-Knowing
بِٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
bil-ẓālimīna
of the wrongdoers
But they will not wish for it, ever, because of what their hands have put forth. And Allāh is Knowing of the wrongdoers.

62:8
Ayah 62:8
قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْمَوْتَ ٱلَّذِى تَفِرُّونَ مِنْهُ فَإِنَّهُۥ مُلَـٰقِيكُمْ ۖ ثُمَّ تُرَدُّونَ إِلَىٰ عَـٰلِمِ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
قُلْ
qul
Say
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلْمَوْتَ
l-mawta
the death
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
which
تَفِرُّونَ
tafirrūna
you flee
مِنْهُ
min'hu
from it
فَإِنَّهُۥ
fa-innahu
then surely it
مُلَـٰقِيكُمْ
mulāqīkum
(will) meet you
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
تُرَدُّونَ
turaddūna
you will be sent back
إِلَىٰ
ilā
to
عَـٰلِمِ
ʿālimi
(the) All-Knower
ٱلْغَيْبِ
l-ghaybi
(of) the unseen
وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ
wal-shahādati
and the witnessed
فَيُنَبِّئُكُم
fayunabbi-ukum
and He will inform you
بِمَا
bimā
[of] what
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you used to
تَعْمَلُونَ
taʿmalūna
do
Say, "Indeed, the death from which you flee - indeed, it will meet you. Then you will be returned to the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, and He will inform you about what you used to do."

62:9
Ayah 62:9
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا نُودِىَ لِلصَّلَوٰةِ مِن يَوْمِ ٱلْجُمُعَةِ فَٱسْعَوْا۟ إِلَىٰ ذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ وَذَرُوا۟ ٱلْبَيْعَ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
yāayyuhā
O
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
(you) who
ءَامَنُوٓا۟
āmanū
believe
إِذَا
idhā
When
نُودِىَ
nūdiya
(the) call is made
لِلصَّلَوٰةِ
lilṣṣalati
for (the) prayer
مِن
min
on
يَوْمِ
yawmi
(the) day
ٱلْجُمُعَةِ
l-jumuʿati
(of) Friday
فَٱسْعَوْا۟
fa-is'ʿaw
then hasten
إِلَىٰ
ilā
to
ذِكْرِ
dhik'ri
(the) remembrance
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَذَرُوا۟
wadharū
and leave
ٱلْبَيْعَ
l-bayʿa
the business
ذَٰلِكُمْ
dhālikum
That
خَيْرٌ
khayrun
(is) better
لَّكُمْ
lakum
for you
إِن
in
if
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you
تَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūna
know
O you who have believed, when [the adhān] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumuʿah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allāh and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew.

62:10
Ayah 62:10
فَإِذَا قُضِيَتِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةُ فَٱنتَشِرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَٱبْتَغُوا۟ مِن فَضْلِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
فَإِذَا
fa-idhā
Then when
قُضِيَتِ
quḍiyati
is concluded
ٱلصَّلَوٰةُ
l-ṣalatu
the prayer
فَٱنتَشِرُوا۟
fa-intashirū
then disperse
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the land
وَٱبْتَغُوا۟
wa-ib'taghū
and seek
مِن
min
from
فَضْلِ
faḍli
(the) Bounty
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَٱذْكُرُوا۟
wa-udh'kurū
and remember
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
كَثِيرًا
kathīran
much
لَّعَلَّكُمْ
laʿallakum
so that you may
تُفْلِحُونَ
tuf'liḥūna
succeed
And when the prayer has been concluded, disperse within the land and seek from the bounty of Allāh, and remember Allāh often that you may succeed.

62:11
Ayah 62:11
وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ تِجَـٰرَةً أَوْ لَهْوًا ٱنفَضُّوٓا۟ إِلَيْهَا وَتَرَكُوكَ قَآئِمًا ۚ قُلْ مَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ خَيْرٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهْوِ وَمِنَ ٱلتِّجَـٰرَةِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ
وَإِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
رَأَوْا۟
ra-aw
they saw
تِجَـٰرَةً
tijāratan
a transaction
أَوْ
aw
or
لَهْوًا
lahwan
a sport
ٱنفَضُّوٓا۟
infaḍḍū
they rushed
إِلَيْهَا
ilayhā
to it
وَتَرَكُوكَ
watarakūka
and left you
قَآئِمًا
qāiman
standing
قُلْ
qul
Say
مَا
What
عِندَ
ʿinda
(is) with
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
خَيْرٌ
khayrun
(is) better
مِّنَ
mina
than
ٱللَّهْوِ
l-lahwi
the sport
وَمِنَ
wamina
and from
ٱلتِّجَـٰرَةِ
l-tijārati
(any) transaction
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
خَيْرُ
khayru
(is the) Best
ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ
l-rāziqīna
(of) the Providers
But [on one occasion] when they saw a transaction or a diversion, [O Muḥammad], they rushed to it and left you standing. Say, "What is with Allāh is better than diversion and than a transaction, and Allāh is the best of providers."
