63:1
Ayah 63:1
إِذَا جَآءَكَ ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقُونَ قَالُوا۟ نَشْهَدُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُهُۥ وَٱللَّهُ يَشْهَدُ إِنَّ ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ
إِذَا
idhā
When
جَآءَكَ
jāaka
come to you
ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقُونَ
l-munāfiqūna
the hypocrites
قَالُوا۟
qālū
they say
نَشْهَدُ
nashhadu
We testify
إِنَّكَ
innaka
that you
لَرَسُولُ
larasūlu
(are) surely (the) Messenger
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
يَعْلَمُ
yaʿlamu
knows
إِنَّكَ
innaka
that you
لَرَسُولُهُۥ
larasūluhu
(are) surely His Messenger
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
and Allah
يَشْهَدُ
yashhadu
testifies
إِنَّ
inna
that
ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ
l-munāfiqīna
the hypocrites
لَكَـٰذِبُونَ
lakādhibūna
(are) surely liars
When the hypocrites come to you, [O Muḥammad], they say, "We testify that you are the Messenger of Allāh." And Allāh knows that you are His Messenger, and Allāh testifies that the hypocrites are liars.

63:2
Ayah 63:2
ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟ أَيْمَـٰنَهُمْ جُنَّةً فَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ سَآءَ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟
ittakhadhū
They take
أَيْمَـٰنَهُمْ
aymānahum
their oaths
جُنَّةً
junnatan
(as) a cover
فَصَدُّوا۟
faṣaddū
so they turn away
عَن
ʿan
from
سَبِيلِ
sabīli
(the) Way
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
إِنَّهُمْ
innahum
Indeed, [they]
سَآءَ
sāa
evil is
مَا
what
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they used to
يَعْمَلُونَ
yaʿmalūna
do
They have taken their oaths as a cover, so they averted [people] from the way of Allāh. Indeed, it was evil that they were doing.

63:3
Ayah 63:3
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ ءَامَنُوا۟ ثُمَّ كَفَرُوا۟ فَطُبِعَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
That
بِأَنَّهُمْ
bi-annahum
(is) because
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanū
they believed
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
they disbelieved
فَطُبِعَ
faṭubiʿa
so were sealed
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
[upon]
قُلُوبِهِمْ
qulūbihim
their hearts
فَهُمْ
fahum
so they
لَا
(do) not
يَفْقَهُونَ
yafqahūna
understand
That is because they believed, and then they disbelieved; so their hearts were sealed over, and they do not understand.

63:4
Ayah 63:4
۞ وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ تُعْجِبُكَ أَجْسَامُهُمْ ۖ وَإِن يَقُولُوا۟ تَسْمَعْ لِقَوْلِهِمْ ۖ كَأَنَّهُمْ خُشُبٌ مُّسَنَّدَةٌ ۖ يَحْسَبُونَ كُلَّ صَيْحَةٍ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ هُمُ ٱلْعَدُوُّ فَٱحْذَرْهُمْ ۚ قَـٰتَلَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۖ أَنَّىٰ يُؤْفَكُونَ
وَإِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
رَأَيْتَهُمْ
ra-aytahum
you see them
تُعْجِبُكَ
tuʿ'jibuka
pleases you
أَجْسَامُهُمْ
ajsāmuhum
their bodies
وَإِن
wa-in
and if
يَقُولُوا۟
yaqūlū
they speak
تَسْمَعْ
tasmaʿ
you listen
لِقَوْلِهِمْ
liqawlihim
to their speech
كَأَنَّهُمْ
ka-annahum
as if they (were)
خُشُبٌ
khushubun
pieces of wood
مُّسَنَّدَةٌ
musannadatun
propped up
يَحْسَبُونَ
yaḥsabūna
They think
كُلَّ
kulla
every
صَيْحَةٍ
ṣayḥatin
shout
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
(is) against them
هُمُ
humu
They
ٱلْعَدُوُّ
l-ʿaduwu
(are) the enemy
فَٱحْذَرْهُمْ
fa-iḥ'dharhum
so beware of them
قَـٰتَلَهُمُ
qātalahumu
May destroy them
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
أَنَّىٰ
annā
How
يُؤْفَكُونَ
yu'fakūna
are they deluded
And when you see them, their forms please you, and if they speak, you listen to their speech. [They are] as if they were pieces of wood propped up1 - they think that every shout is against them. They are the enemy, so beware of them. May Allāh destroy them; how are they deluded?

63:5
Ayah 63:5
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا۟ يَسْتَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ لَوَّوْا۟ رُءُوسَهُمْ وَرَأَيْتَهُمْ يَصُدُّونَ وَهُم مُّسْتَكْبِرُونَ
وَإِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
قِيلَ
qīla
it is said
لَهُمْ
lahum
to them
تَعَالَوْا۟
taʿālaw
Come
يَسْتَغْفِرْ
yastaghfir
will ask forgiveness
لَكُمْ
lakum
for you
رَسُولُ
rasūlu
(the) Messenger
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
لَوَّوْا۟
lawwaw
They turn aside
رُءُوسَهُمْ
ruūsahum
their heads
وَرَأَيْتَهُمْ
wara-aytahum
and you see them
يَصُدُّونَ
yaṣuddūna
turning away
وَهُم
wahum
while they
مُّسْتَكْبِرُونَ
mus'takbirūna
(are) arrogant
And when it is said to them, "Come, the Messenger of Allāh will ask forgiveness for you," they turn their heads aside and you see them evading while they are arrogant.

63:6
Ayah 63:6
سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْهِمْ أَسْتَغْفَرْتَ لَهُمْ أَمْ لَمْ تَسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ لَن يَغْفِرَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَ
سَوَآءٌ
sawāon
(It) is same
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
for them
أَسْتَغْفَرْتَ
astaghfarta
whether you ask forgiveness
لَهُمْ
lahum
for them
أَمْ
am
or
لَمْ
lam
(do) not
تَسْتَغْفِرْ
tastaghfir
ask forgiveness
لَهُمْ
lahum
for them
لَن
lan
Never
يَغْفِرَ
yaghfira
will forgive
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
لَهُمْ
lahum
[to] them
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
لَا
(does) not
يَهْدِى
yahdī
guide
ٱلْقَوْمَ
l-qawma
the people
ٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَ
l-fāsiqīna
the defiantly disobedient
It is all the same for them whether you ask forgiveness for them or do not ask forgiveness for them; never will Allāh forgive them. Indeed, Allāh does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.

63:7
Ayah 63:7
هُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ لَا تُنفِقُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَنْ عِندَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ حَتَّىٰ يَنفَضُّوا۟ ۗ وَلِلَّهِ خَزَآئِنُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ
هُمُ
humu
They
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
(are) those who
يَقُولُونَ
yaqūlūna
say
لَا
(Do) not
تُنفِقُوا۟
tunfiqū
spend
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
on
مَنْ
man
(those) who
عِندَ
ʿinda
(are) with
رَسُولِ
rasūli
(the) Messenger
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattā
until
يَنفَضُّوا۟
yanfaḍḍū
they disband
وَلِلَّهِ
walillahi
And for Allah
خَزَآئِنُ
khazāinu
(are the) treasures
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ
l-samāwāti
(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
wal-arḍi
and the earth
وَلَـٰكِنَّ
walākinna
but
ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ
l-munāfiqīna
the hypocrites
لَا
(do) not
يَفْقَهُونَ
yafqahūna
understand
They are the ones who say, "Do not spend on those who are with the Messenger of Allāh until they disband." And to Allāh belong the depositories of the heavens and the earth, but the hypocrites do not understand.

63:8
Ayah 63:8
يَقُولُونَ لَئِن رَّجَعْنَآ إِلَى ٱلْمَدِينَةِ لَيُخْرِجَنَّ ٱلْأَعَزُّ مِنْهَا ٱلْأَذَلَّ ۚ وَلِلَّهِ ٱلْعِزَّةُ وَلِرَسُولِهِۦ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
يَقُولُونَ
yaqūlūna
They say
لَئِن
la-in
If
رَّجَعْنَآ
rajaʿnā
we return
إِلَى
ilā
to
ٱلْمَدِينَةِ
l-madīnati
Al-Madinah
لَيُخْرِجَنَّ
layukh'rijanna
surely, will expel
ٱلْأَعَزُّ
l-aʿazu
the more honorable
مِنْهَا
min'hā
from it
ٱلْأَذَلَّ
l-adhala
the more humble
وَلِلَّهِ
walillahi
But for Allah
ٱلْعِزَّةُ
l-ʿizatu
(is) the honor
وَلِرَسُولِهِۦ
walirasūlihi
and for His Messenger
وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
walil'mu'minīna
and for the believers
وَلَـٰكِنَّ
walākinna
but
ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ
l-munāfiqīna
the hypocrites
لَا
(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūna
know
They say, "If we return to al-Madīnah, the more honored [for power] will surely expel therefrom the more humble." And to Allāh belongs [all] honor, and to His Messenger, and to the believers, but the hypocrites do not know.

63:9
Ayah 63:9
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تُلْهِكُمْ أَمْوَٰلُكُمْ وَلَآ أَوْلَـٰدُكُمْ عَن ذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَمَن يَفْعَلْ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْخَـٰسِرُونَ
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
yāayyuhā
O
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
you (who)
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanū
believe
لَا
(Let) not
تُلْهِكُمْ
tul'hikum
divert you
أَمْوَٰلُكُمْ
amwālukum
your wealth
وَلَآ
walā
and not
أَوْلَـٰدُكُمْ
awlādukum
your children
عَن
ʿan
from
ذِكْرِ
dhik'ri
(the) remembrance
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَمَن
waman
And whoever
يَفْعَلْ
yafʿal
does
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
that
فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
fa-ulāika
then those
هُمُ
humu
[they]
ٱلْخَـٰسِرُونَ
l-khāsirūna
(are) the losers
O you who have believed, let not your wealth and your children divert you from the remembrance of Allāh. And whoever does that - then those are the losers.

63:10
Ayah 63:10
وَأَنفِقُوا۟ مِن مَّا رَزَقْنَـٰكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِىَ أَحَدَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتُ فَيَقُولَ رَبِّ لَوْلَآ أَخَّرْتَنِىٓ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ قَرِيبٍ فَأَصَّدَّقَ وَأَكُن مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
وَأَنفِقُوا۟
wa-anfiqū
And spend
مِن
min
from
مَّا
what
رَزَقْنَـٰكُم
razaqnākum
We have provided you
مِّن
min
from
قَبْلِ
qabli
before
أَن
an
[that]
يَأْتِىَ
yatiya
comes
أَحَدَكُمُ
aḥadakumu
(to) one of you
ٱلْمَوْتُ
l-mawtu
the death
فَيَقُولَ
fayaqūla
and he says
رَبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
لَوْلَآ
lawlā
Why not
أَخَّرْتَنِىٓ
akhartanī
You delay me
إِلَىٰٓ
ilā
for
أَجَلٍ
ajalin
a term
قَرِيبٍ
qarībin
near
فَأَصَّدَّقَ
fa-aṣṣaddaqa
so I would give charity
وَأَكُن
wa-akun
and be
مِّنَ
mina
among
ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
l-ṣāliḥīna
the righteous
And spend [in the way of Allāh] from what We have provided you before death approaches one of you and he says, "My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be of the righteous."

63:11
Ayah 63:11
وَلَن يُؤَخِّرَ ٱللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهَا ۚ وَٱللَّهُ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
وَلَن
walan
But never
يُؤَخِّرَ
yu-akhira
will (be) delayed
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
(by) Allah
نَفْسًا
nafsan
a soul
إِذَا
idhā
when
جَآءَ
jāa
has come
أَجَلُهَا
ajaluhā
its term
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
خَبِيرٌۢ
khabīrun
(is) All-Aware
بِمَا
bimā
of what
تَعْمَلُونَ
taʿmalūna
you do
But never will Allāh delay a soul when its time has come. And Allāh is Aware of what you do.
