وَمَا جَعَلْنَآ أَصْحَـٰبَ ٱلنَّارِ إِلَّا مَلَـٰٓئِكَةً ۙ وَمَا جَعَلْنَا عِدَّتَهُمْ إِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِيَسْتَيْقِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَيَزْدَادَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِيمَـٰنًا ۙ وَلَا يَرْتَابَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ۙ وَلِيَقُولَ ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ وَٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ مَاذَآ أَرَادَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَـٰذَا مَثَلًا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَمَا يَعْلَمُ جُنُودَ رَبِّكَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ وَمَا هِىَ إِلَّا ذِكْرَىٰ لِلْبَشَرِ
وَمَا جَعَلۡنَاۤ اَصۡحٰبَ النَّارِ اِلَّا مَلٰٓٮِٕكَةً وَّمَا جَعَلۡنَا عِدَّتَهُمۡ اِلَّا فِتۡنَةً لِّلَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا ۙ لِيَسۡتَيۡقِنَ الَّذِيۡنَ اُوۡتُوا الۡكِتٰبَ وَيَزۡدَادَ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡۤا اِيۡمَانًا وَّلَا يَرۡتَابَ الَّذِيۡنَ اُوۡتُوا الۡكِتٰبَ وَالۡمُؤۡمِنُوۡنَۙ وَلِيَقُوۡلَ الَّذِيۡنَ فِىۡ قُلُوۡبِهِمۡ مَّرَضٌ وَّالۡكٰفِرُوۡنَ مَاذَاۤ اَرَادَ اللّٰهُ بِهٰذَا مَثَلًا ؕ كَذٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ اللّٰهُ مَنۡ يَّشَآءُ وَيَهۡدِىۡ مَنۡ يَّشَآءُ ؕ وَمَا يَعۡلَمُ جُنُوۡدَ رَبِّكَ اِلَّا هُوَ ؕ وَمَا هِىَ اِلَّا ذِكۡرٰى لِلۡبَشَرِ
جَعَلْنَآ
جَعَلۡنَاۤ
jaʿalnā
We have made
أَصْحَـٰبَ
اَصۡحٰبَ
aṣḥāba
keepers
ٱلنَّارِ
النَّارِ
l-nāri
(of) the Fire
إِلَّا
اِلَّا
illā
except
مَلَـٰٓئِكَةً
مَلٰٓٮِٕكَةً
malāikatan
Angels
وَمَا
وَّمَا
wamā
And not
جَعَلْنَا
جَعَلۡنَا
jaʿalnā
We have made
عِدَّتَهُمْ
عِدَّتَهُمۡ
ʿiddatahum
their number
إِلَّا
اِلَّا
illā
except
فِتْنَةً
فِتۡنَةً
fit'natan
(as) a trial
لِّلَّذِينَ
لِّلَّذِيۡنَ
lilladhīna
for those who
كَفَرُوا۟
كَفَرُوۡا
kafarū
disbelieve
لِيَسْتَيْقِنَ
لِيَسۡتَيۡقِنَ
liyastayqina
that may be certain
ٱلَّذِينَ
الَّذِيۡنَ
alladhīna
those who
أُوتُوا۟
اُوۡتُوا
ūtū
were given
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ
الۡكِتٰبَ
l-kitāba
the Scripture
وَيَزْدَادَ
وَيَزۡدَادَ
wayazdāda
and may increase
ٱلَّذِينَ
الَّذِيۡنَ
alladhīna
those who
ءَامَنُوٓا۟
اٰمَنُوۡۤا
āmanū
believe
إِيمَـٰنًا
اِيۡمَانًا
īmānan
(in) faith
وَلَا
وَّلَا
walā
and not
يَرْتَابَ
يَرۡتَابَ
yartāba
may doubt
ٱلَّذِينَ
الَّذِيۡنَ
alladhīna
those who
أُوتُوا۟
اُوۡتُوا
ūtū
were given
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ
الۡكِتٰبَ
l-kitāba
the Scripture
وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
وَالۡمُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ
wal-mu'minūna
and the believers
وَلِيَقُولَ
وَلِيَقُوۡلَ
waliyaqūla
and that may say
ٱلَّذِينَ
الَّذِيۡنَ
alladhīna
those
قُلُوبِهِم
قُلُوۡبِهِمۡ
qulūbihim
their hearts
مَّرَضٌ
مَّرَضٌ
maraḍun
(is) a disease
وَٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ
وَّالۡكٰفِرُوۡنَ
wal-kāfirūna
and the disbelievers
مَاذَآ
مَاذَاۤ
mādhā
What
أَرَادَ
اَرَادَ
arāda
(does) intend
ٱللَّهُ
اللّٰهُ
l-lahu
Allah
بِهَـٰذَا
بِهٰذَا
bihādhā
by this
مَثَلًا
مَثَلًا
mathalan
example
كَذَٰلِكَ
ؕ
kadhālika
Thus
يُضِلُّ
كَذٰلِكَ
yuḍillu
does let go astray
ٱللَّهُ
يُضِلُّ
l-lahu
Allah
يَشَآءُ
مَنۡ
yashāu
He wills
وَيَهْدِى
يَّشَآءُ
wayahdī
and guides
يَشَآءُ
مَنۡ
yashāu
He wills
وَمَا
يَّشَآءُ
wamā
And none
يَعْلَمُ
ؕ
yaʿlamu
knows
جُنُودَ
وَمَا
junūda
(the) hosts
رَبِّكَ
يَعۡلَمُ
rabbika
(of) your Lord
إِلَّا
جُنُوۡدَ
illā
except
وَمَا
اِلَّا
wamā
And not
ذِكْرَىٰ
وَمَا
dhik'rā
a reminder
لِلْبَشَرِ
هِىَ
lil'bashari
to (the) human beings
And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is disease [i.e., hypocrisy] and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allāh intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allāh send astray whom He wills and guide whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And it [i.e., mention of the Fire] is not but a reminder to humanity.
