76:1
Ayah 76:1
هَلْ أَتَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْإِنسَـٰنِ حِينٌ مِّنَ ٱلدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُن شَيْـًٔا مَّذْكُورًا
هَلْ
hal
Has
أَتَىٰ
atā
(there) come
عَلَى
ʿalā
upon
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنِ
l-insāni
man
حِينٌ
ḥīnun
a period
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلدَّهْرِ
l-dahri
time
لَمْ
lam
not
يَكُن
yakun
he was
شَيْـًٔا
shayan
a thing
مَّذْكُورًا
madhkūran
mentioned
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned?

76:2
Ayah 76:2
إِنَّا خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ أَمْشَاجٍ نَّبْتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ سَمِيعًۢا بَصِيرًا
إِنَّا
innā
Indeed, We
خَلَقْنَا
khalaqnā
[We] created
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ
l-insāna
man
مِن
min
from
نُّطْفَةٍ
nuṭ'fatin
a semen-drop
أَمْشَاجٍ
amshājin
a mixture
نَّبْتَلِيهِ
nabtalīhi
(that) We test him
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ
fajaʿalnāhu
so We made (for) him
سَمِيعًۢا
samīʿan
hearing
بَصِيرًا
baṣīran
and sight
Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture1 that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing.

76:3
Ayah 76:3
إِنَّا هَدَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلسَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرًا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا
إِنَّا
innā
Indeed, We
هَدَيْنَـٰهُ
hadaynāhu
guided him
ٱلسَّبِيلَ
l-sabīla
(to) the way
إِمَّا
immā
whether
شَاكِرًا
shākiran
(he) be grateful
وَإِمَّا
wa-immā
and whether
كَفُورًا
kafūran
(he) be ungrateful
Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful.

76:4
Ayah 76:4
إِنَّآ أَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ سَلَـٰسِلَا۟ وَأَغْلَـٰلًا وَسَعِيرًا
إِنَّآ
innā
Indeed, We
أَعْتَدْنَا
aʿtadnā
[We] have prepared
لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
lil'kāfirīna
for the disbelievers
سَلَـٰسِلَا۟
salāsilā
chains
وَأَغْلَـٰلًا
wa-aghlālan
and shackles
وَسَعِيرًا
wasaʿīran
and a Blazing Fire
Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze.

76:5
Ayah 76:5
إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ يَشْرَبُونَ مِن كَأْسٍ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُورًا
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلْأَبْرَارَ
l-abrāra
the righteous
يَشْرَبُونَ
yashrabūna
will drink
مِن
min
from
كَأْسٍ
kasin
a cup
كَانَ
kāna
is
مِزَاجُهَا
mizājuhā
its mixture
كَافُورًا
kāfūran
(of) Kafur
Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kāfūr,1

76:6
Ayah 76:6
عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ ٱللَّهِ يُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفْجِيرًا
عَيْنًا
ʿaynan
A spring
يَشْرَبُ
yashrabu
will drink
بِهَا
bihā
from it
عِبَادُ
ʿibādu
(the) slaves
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
يُفَجِّرُونَهَا
yufajjirūnahā
causing it to gush forth
تَفْجِيرًا
tafjīran
abundantly
A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allāh will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance].

76:7
Ayah 76:7
يُوفُونَ بِٱلنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا كَانَ شَرُّهُۥ مُسْتَطِيرًا
يُوفُونَ
yūfūna
They fulfill
بِٱلنَّذْرِ
bil-nadhri
the vows
وَيَخَافُونَ
wayakhāfūna
and fear
يَوْمًا
yawman
a Day
كَانَ
kāna
(which) is
شَرُّهُۥ
sharruhu
its evil
مُسْتَطِيرًا
mus'taṭīran
widespread
They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread.

76:8
Ayah 76:8
وَيُطْعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا
وَيُطْعِمُونَ
wayuṭ'ʿimūna
And they feed
ٱلطَّعَامَ
l-ṭaʿāma
the food
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
in spite of
حُبِّهِۦ
ḥubbihi
love (for) it
مِسْكِينًا
mis'kīnan
(to the) needy
وَيَتِيمًا
wayatīman
and (the) orphan
وَأَسِيرًا
wa-asīran
and (the) captive
And they give food in spite of love for it1 to the needy, the orphan, and the captive,

76:9
Ayah 76:9
إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ ٱللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَآءً وَلَا شُكُورًا
إِنَّمَا
innamā
Only
نُطْعِمُكُمْ
nuṭ'ʿimukum
we feed you
لِوَجْهِ
liwajhi
for (the) Countenance
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
لَا
lā
Not
نُرِيدُ
nurīdu
we desire
مِنكُمْ
minkum
from you
جَزَآءً
jazāan
any reward
وَلَا
walā
and not
شُكُورًا
shukūran
thanks
[Saying], "We feed you only for the face [i.e., approval] of Allāh. We wish not from you reward or gratitude.

76:10
Ayah 76:10
إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوْمًا عَبُوسًا قَمْطَرِيرًا
إِنَّا
innā
Indeed, we
نَخَافُ
nakhāfu
fear
مِن
min
from
رَّبِّنَا
rabbinā
our Lord
يَوْمًا
yawman
a Day
عَبُوسًا
ʿabūsan
harsh
قَمْطَرِيرًا
qamṭarīran
and distressful
Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful."

76:11
Ayah 76:11
فَوَقَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمِ وَلَقَّىٰهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَسُرُورًا
فَوَقَىٰهُمُ
fawaqāhumu
But will protect them
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
شَرَّ
sharra
(from the) evil
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
(of) that
ٱلْيَوْمِ
l-yawmi
Day
وَلَقَّىٰهُمْ
walaqqāhum
and will cause them to meet
نَضْرَةً
naḍratan
radiance
وَسُرُورًا
wasurūran
and happiness
So Allāh will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness

76:12
Ayah 76:12
وَجَزَىٰهُم بِمَا صَبَرُوا۟ جَنَّةً وَحَرِيرًا
وَجَزَىٰهُم
wajazāhum
And will reward them
بِمَا
bimā
because
صَبَرُوا۟
ṣabarū
they were patient
جَنَّةً
jannatan
(with) a Garden
وَحَرِيرًا
waḥarīran
and silk
And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments].

76:13
Ayah 76:13
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ فِيهَا عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ ۖ لَا يَرَوْنَ فِيهَا شَمْسًا وَلَا زَمْهَرِيرًا
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ
muttakiīna
Reclining
فِيهَا
fīhā
therein
عَلَى
ʿalā
on
ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ
l-arāiki
couches
لَا
lā
Not
يَرَوْنَ
yarawna
they will see
فِيهَا
fīhā
therein
شَمْسًا
shamsan
sun
وَلَا
walā
and not
زَمْهَرِيرًا
zamharīran
freezing cold
[They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold.

76:14
Ayah 76:14
وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيْهِمْ ظِلَـٰلُهَا وَذُلِّلَتْ قُطُوفُهَا تَذْلِيلًا
وَدَانِيَةً
wadāniyatan
And near
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
above them
ظِلَـٰلُهَا
ẓilāluhā
(are) its shades
وَذُلِّلَتْ
wadhullilat
and will hang low
قُطُوفُهَا
quṭūfuhā
its cluster of fruits
تَذْلِيلًا
tadhlīlan
dangling low
And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance.

76:15
Ayah 76:15
وَيُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِـَٔانِيَةٍ مِّن فِضَّةٍ وَأَكْوَابٍ كَانَتْ قَوَارِيرَا۠
وَيُطَافُ
wayuṭāfu
And will be circulated
عَلَيْهِم
ʿalayhim
among them
بِـَٔانِيَةٍ
biāniyatin
vessels
مِّن
min
of
فِضَّةٍ
fiḍḍatin
silver
وَأَكْوَابٍ
wa-akwābin
and cups
كَانَتْ
kānat
(that) are
قَوَارِيرَا۠
qawārīrā
(of) crystal
And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass],

76:16
Ayah 76:16
قَوَارِيرَا۟ مِن فِضَّةٍ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقْدِيرًا
قَوَارِيرَا۟
qawārīrā
Crystal-clear
مِن
min
of
فِضَّةٍ
fiḍḍatin
silver
قَدَّرُوهَا
qaddarūhā
They will determine its
تَقْدِيرًا
taqdīran
measure
Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure.

76:17
Ayah 76:17
وَيُسْقَوْنَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنجَبِيلًا
وَيُسْقَوْنَ
wayus'qawna
And they will be given to drink
فِيهَا
fīhā
therein
كَأْسًا
kasan
a cup
كَانَ
kāna
is
مِزَاجُهَا
mizājuhā
its mixture
زَنجَبِيلًا
zanjabīlan
(of) Zanjabil
And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger

76:18
Ayah 76:18
عَيْنًا فِيهَا تُسَمَّىٰ سَلْسَبِيلًا
عَيْنًا
ʿaynan
A spring
فِيهَا
fīhā
therein
تُسَمَّىٰ
tusammā
named
سَلْسَبِيلًا
salsabīlan
Salsabil
[From] a fountain within it [i.e., Paradise] named Salsabeel.

76:19
Ayah 76:19
۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَٰنٌ مُّخَلَّدُونَ إِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ حَسِبْتَهُمْ لُؤْلُؤًا مَّنثُورًا
وَيَطُوفُ
wayaṭūfu
And will circulate
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
among them
وِلْدَٰنٌ
wil'dānun
young boys
مُّخَلَّدُونَ
mukhalladūna
made eternal
إِذَا
idhā
When
رَأَيْتَهُمْ
ra-aytahum
you see them
حَسِبْتَهُمْ
ḥasib'tahum
you would think them
لُؤْلُؤًا
lu'lu-an
(to be) pearls
مَّنثُورًا
manthūran
scattered
There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls.

76:20
Ayah 76:20
وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ ثَمَّ رَأَيْتَ نَعِيمًا وَمُلْكًا كَبِيرًا
وَإِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
رَأَيْتَ
ra-ayta
you look
ثَمَّ
thamma
then
رَأَيْتَ
ra-ayta
you will see
نَعِيمًا
naʿīman
blessings
وَمُلْكًا
wamul'kan
and a kingdom
كَبِيرًا
kabīran
great
And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion.

76:21
Ayah 76:21
عَـٰلِيَهُمْ ثِيَابُ سُندُسٍ خُضْرٌ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٌ ۖ وَحُلُّوٓا۟ أَسَاوِرَ مِن فِضَّةٍ وَسَقَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ شَرَابًا طَهُورًا
عَـٰلِيَهُمْ
ʿāliyahum
Upon them
ثِيَابُ
thiyābu
(will be) garments
سُندُسٍ
sundusin
(of) fine silk
خُضْرٌ
khuḍ'run
green
وَإِسْتَبْرَقٌ
wa-is'tabraqun
and heavy brocade
وَحُلُّوٓا۟
waḥullū
And they will be adorned
أَسَاوِرَ
asāwira
(with) bracelets
مِن
min
of
فِضَّةٍ
fiḍḍatin
silver
وَسَقَىٰهُمْ
wasaqāhum
and will give them to drink
رَبُّهُمْ
rabbuhum
their Lord
شَرَابًا
sharāban
a drink
طَهُورًا
ṭahūran
pure
Upon them [i.e., the inhabitants] will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink.

76:22
Ayah 76:22
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا كَانَ لَكُمْ جَزَآءً وَكَانَ سَعْيُكُم مَّشْكُورًا
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
this
كَانَ
kāna
is
لَكُمْ
lakum
for you
جَزَآءً
jazāan
a reward
وَكَانَ
wakāna
and has been
سَعْيُكُم
saʿyukum
your effort
مَّشْكُورًا
mashkūran
appreciated
[And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated."

76:23
Ayah 76:23
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ تَنزِيلًا
إِنَّا
innā
Indeed, We
نَحْنُ
naḥnu
[We]
نَزَّلْنَا
nazzalnā
[We] revealed
عَلَيْكَ
ʿalayka
to you
ٱلْقُرْءَانَ
l-qur'āna
the Quran
تَنزِيلًا
tanzīlan
progressively
Indeed, it is We who have sent down to you, [O Muḥammad], the Qur’ān progressively.

76:24
Ayah 76:24
فَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تُطِعْ مِنْهُمْ ءَاثِمًا أَوْ كَفُورًا
فَٱصْبِرْ
fa-iṣ'bir
So be patient
لِحُكْمِ
liḥuk'mi
for (the) Command
رَبِّكَ
rabbika
(of) your Lord
وَلَا
walā
and (do) not
تُطِعْ
tuṭiʿ
obey
مِنْهُمْ
min'hum
from them
ءَاثِمًا
āthiman
any sinner
أَوْ
aw
or
كَفُورًا
kafūran
disbeliever
So be patient for the decision of your Lord and do not obey from among them a sinner or ungrateful [disbeliever].

76:25
Ayah 76:25
وَٱذْكُرِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا
وَٱذْكُرِ
wa-udh'kuri
And remember
ٱسْمَ
is'ma
(the) name
رَبِّكَ
rabbika
(of) your Lord
بُكْرَةً
buk'ratan
morning
وَأَصِيلًا
wa-aṣīlan
and evening
And mention the name of your Lord [in prayer] morning and evening

76:26
Ayah 76:26
وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَٱسْجُدْ لَهُۥ وَسَبِّحْهُ لَيْلًا طَوِيلًا
وَمِنَ
wamina
And of
ٱلَّيْلِ
al-layli
the night
فَٱسْجُدْ
fa-us'jud
prostrate
لَهُۥ
lahu
to Him
وَسَبِّحْهُ
wasabbiḥ'hu
and glorify Him
لَيْلًا
laylan
a night
طَوِيلًا
ṭawīlan
long
And during the night prostrate to Him and exalt [i.e., praise] Him a long [part of the] night.

76:27
Ayah 76:27
إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ يُحِبُّونَ ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ وَيَذَرُونَ وَرَآءَهُمْ يَوْمًا ثَقِيلًا
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
hāulāi
these
يُحِبُّونَ
yuḥibbūna
love
ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ
l-ʿājilata
the immediate
وَيَذَرُونَ
wayadharūna
and leave
وَرَآءَهُمْ
warāahum
behind them
يَوْمًا
yawman
a Day
ثَقِيلًا
thaqīlan
grave
Indeed, these [disbelievers] love the immediate and leave behind them1 a grave Day.

76:28
Ayah 76:28
نَّحْنُ خَلَقْنَـٰهُمْ وَشَدَدْنَآ أَسْرَهُمْ ۖ وَإِذَا شِئْنَا بَدَّلْنَآ أَمْثَـٰلَهُمْ تَبْدِيلًا
نَّحْنُ
naḥnu
We
خَلَقْنَـٰهُمْ
khalaqnāhum
created them
وَشَدَدْنَآ
washadadnā
and We strengthened
أَسْرَهُمْ
asrahum
their forms
وَإِذَا
wa-idhā
and when
شِئْنَا
shi'nā
We will
بَدَّلْنَآ
baddalnā
We can change
أَمْثَـٰلَهُمْ
amthālahum
their likeness[es]
تَبْدِيلًا
tabdīlan
(with) a change
We have created them and strengthened their forms, and when We will, We can change their likenesses with [complete] alteration.

76:29
Ayah 76:29
إِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦ تَذْكِرَةٌ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلًا
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
هَـٰذِهِۦ
hādhihi
this
تَذْكِرَةٌ
tadhkiratun
(is) a reminder
فَمَن
faman
so whoever
شَآءَ
shāa
wills
ٱتَّخَذَ
ittakhadha
let him take
إِلَىٰ
ilā
to
رَبِّهِۦ
rabbihi
his Lord
سَبِيلًا
sabīlan
a way
Indeed, this is a reminder, so he who wills may take to his Lord a way.

76:30
Ayah 76:30
وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا
وَمَا
wamā
And not
تَشَآءُونَ
tashāūna
you will
إِلَّآ
illā
except
أَن
an
that
يَشَآءَ
yashāa
wills
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
كَانَ
kāna
is
عَلِيمًا
ʿalīman
All-Knower
حَكِيمًا
ḥakīman
All-Wise
And you do not will except that Allāh wills. Indeed, Allāh is ever Knowing and Wise.

76:31
Ayah 76:31
يُدْخِلُ مَن يَشَآءُ فِى رَحْمَتِهِۦ ۚ وَٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ أَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًۢا
يُدْخِلُ
yud'khilu
He admits
مَن
man
whom
يَشَآءُ
yashāu
He wills
فِى
fī
into
رَحْمَتِهِۦ
raḥmatihi
His mercy
وَٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
wal-ẓālimīna
but (for) the wrongdoers
أَعَدَّ
aʿadda
He has prepared
لَهُمْ
lahum
for them
عَذَابًا
ʿadhāban
a punishment
أَلِيمًۢا
alīman
painful
He admits whom He wills into His mercy; but the wrongdoers - He has prepared for them a painful punishment.
