8:1
Ayah 8:1
يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلْأَنفَالِ ۖ قُلِ ٱلْأَنفَالُ لِلَّهِ وَٱلرَّسُولِ ۖ فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَصْلِحُوا۟ ذَاتَ بَيْنِكُمْ ۖ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ
yasalūnaka
They ask you
عَنِ
ʿani
about
ٱلْأَنفَالِ
l-anfāli
the spoils of war
قُلِ
quli
Say
ٱلْأَنفَالُ
l-anfālu
The spoils of war
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
(are) for Allah
وَٱلرَّسُولِ
wal-rasūli
and the Messenger
فَٱتَّقُوا۟
fa-ittaqū
So fear
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
وَأَصْلِحُوا۟
wa-aṣliḥū
and set right
ذَاتَ
dhāta
that
بَيْنِكُمْ
baynikum
(which is) between you
وَأَطِيعُوا۟
wa-aṭīʿū
and obey
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ
warasūlahu
and His Messenger
إِن
in
if
كُنتُم
kuntum
you are
مُّؤْمِنِينَ
mu'minīna
believers
They ask you, [O Muḥammad], about the bounties [of war]. Say, "The [decision concerning] bounties is for Allāh and the Messenger." So fear Allāh and amend that which is between you and obey Allāh and His Messenger, if you should be believers.

8:2
Ayah 8:2
إِنَّمَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ ٱللَّهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَإِذَا تُلِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَـٰتُهُۥ زَادَتْهُمْ إِيمَـٰنًا وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ
إِنَّمَا
innamā
Only
ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
l-mu'minūna
the believers
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
(are) those who
إِذَا
idhā
when
ذُكِرَ
dhukira
is mentioned
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
وَجِلَتْ
wajilat
feel fear
قُلُوبُهُمْ
qulūbuhum
their hearts
وَإِذَا
wa-idhā
and when
تُلِيَتْ
tuliyat
are recited
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
to them
ءَايَـٰتُهُۥ
āyātuhu
His Verses
زَادَتْهُمْ
zādathum
they increase them
إِيمَـٰنًا
īmānan
(in) faith
وَعَلَىٰ
waʿalā
and upon
رَبِّهِمْ
rabbihim
their Lord
يَتَوَكَّلُونَ
yatawakkalūna
they put their trust
The believers are only those who, when Allāh is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely -

8:3
Ayah 8:3
ٱلَّذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَـٰهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
Those who
يُقِيمُونَ
yuqīmūna
establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
l-ṣalata
the prayer
وَمِمَّا
wamimmā
and out of what
رَزَقْنَـٰهُمْ
razaqnāhum
We have provided them
يُنفِقُونَ
yunfiqūna
they spend
The ones who establish prayer, and from what We have provided them, they spend.

8:4
Ayah 8:4
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ حَقًّا ۚ لَّهُمْ دَرَجَـٰتٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ وَمَغْفِرَةٌ وَرِزْقٌ كَرِيمٌ
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
Those
هُمُ
humu
they are
ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
l-mu'minūna
the believers
حَقًّا
ḥaqqan
(in) truth
لَّهُمْ
lahum
For them
دَرَجَـٰتٌ
darajātun
(are) ranks
عِندَ
ʿinda
with
رَبِّهِمْ
rabbihim
their Lord
وَمَغْفِرَةٌ
wamaghfiratun
and forgiveness
وَرِزْقٌ
wariz'qun
and a provision
كَرِيمٌ
karīmun
noble
Those are the believers, truly. For them are degrees [of high position] with their Lord and forgiveness and noble provision.

8:5
Ayah 8:5
كَمَآ أَخْرَجَكَ رَبُّكَ مِنۢ بَيْتِكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَإِنَّ فَرِيقًا مِّنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ لَكَـٰرِهُونَ
كَمَآ
kamā
As
أَخْرَجَكَ
akhrajaka
brought you out
رَبُّكَ
rabbuka
your Lord
مِنۢ
min
from
بَيْتِكَ
baytika
your home
بِٱلْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqi
in truth
وَإِنَّ
wa-inna
while indeed
فَرِيقًا
farīqan
a party
مِّنَ
mina
among
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
l-mu'minīna
the believers
لَكَـٰرِهُونَ
lakārihūna
certainly disliked
[It1 is] just as when your Lord brought you out of your home [for the battle of Badr] in truth, while indeed, a party among the believers were unwilling,

8:6
Ayah 8:6
يُجَـٰدِلُونَكَ فِى ٱلْحَقِّ بَعْدَ مَا تَبَيَّنَ كَأَنَّمَا يُسَاقُونَ إِلَى ٱلْمَوْتِ وَهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ
يُجَـٰدِلُونَكَ
yujādilūnaka
They dispute with you
فِى
concerning
ٱلْحَقِّ
l-ḥaqi
the truth
بَعْدَ
baʿdamā
after what
مَا
tabayyana
was made clear
تَبَيَّنَ
ka-annamā
as if
كَأَنَّمَا
yusāqūna
they were driven
يُسَاقُونَ
ilā
to
إِلَى
l-mawti
[the] death
ٱلْمَوْتِ
wahum
while they
وَهُمْ
yanẓurūna
(were) looking
Arguing with you concerning the truth after it had become clear, as if they were being driven toward death while they were looking on.

8:7
Ayah 8:7
وَإِذْ يَعِدُكُمُ ٱللَّهُ إِحْدَى ٱلطَّآئِفَتَيْنِ أَنَّهَا لَكُمْ وَتَوَدُّونَ أَنَّ غَيْرَ ذَاتِ ٱلشَّوْكَةِ تَكُونُ لَكُمْ وَيُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ أَن يُحِقَّ ٱلْحَقَّ بِكَلِمَـٰتِهِۦ وَيَقْطَعَ دَابِرَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
وَإِذْ
wa-idh
And when
يَعِدُكُمُ
yaʿidukumu
promised you
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
إِحْدَى
iḥ'dā
one
ٱلطَّآئِفَتَيْنِ
l-ṭāifatayni
(of) the two groups
أَنَّهَا
annahā
that it (would be)
لَكُمْ
lakum
for you
وَتَوَدُّونَ
watawaddūna
and you wished
أَنَّ
anna
that
غَيْرَ
ghayra
(one) other than
ذَاتِ
dhāti
that
ٱلشَّوْكَةِ
l-shawkati
(of) the armed
تَكُونُ
takūnu
would be
لَكُمْ
lakum
for you
وَيُرِيدُ
wayurīdu
But intended
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
أَن
an
to
يُحِقَّ
yuḥiqqa
justify
ٱلْحَقَّ
l-ḥaqa
the truth
بِكَلِمَـٰتِهِۦ
bikalimātihi
by His words
وَيَقْطَعَ
wayaqṭaʿa
and cut off
دَابِرَ
dābira
(the) roots
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
l-kāfirīna
(of) the disbelievers
[Remember, O believers], when Allāh promised you one of the two groups1 - that it would be yours - and you wished that the unarmed one would be yours. But Allāh intended to establish the truth by His words and to eliminate the disbelievers

8:8
Ayah 8:8
لِيُحِقَّ ٱلْحَقَّ وَيُبْطِلَ ٱلْبَـٰطِلَ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ
لِيُحِقَّ
liyuḥiqqa
That He might justify
ٱلْحَقَّ
l-ḥaqa
the truth
وَيُبْطِلَ
wayub'ṭila
and prove false
ٱلْبَـٰطِلَ
l-bāṭila
the falsehood
وَلَوْ
walaw
even if
كَرِهَ
kariha
disliked (it)
ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ
l-muj'rimūna
the criminals
That He should establish the truth and abolish falsehood, even if the criminals disliked it.

8:9
Ayah 8:9
إِذْ تَسْتَغِيثُونَ رَبَّكُمْ فَٱسْتَجَابَ لَكُمْ أَنِّى مُمِدُّكُم بِأَلْفٍ مِّنَ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ مُرْدِفِينَ
إِذْ
idh
When
تَسْتَغِيثُونَ
tastaghīthūna
you were seeking help
رَبَّكُمْ
rabbakum
(of) your Lord
فَٱسْتَجَابَ
fa-is'tajāba
and He answered
لَكُمْ
lakum
[to] you
أَنِّى
annī
Indeed, I am
مُمِدُّكُم
mumiddukum
going to reinforce you
بِأَلْفٍ
bi-alfin
with a thousand
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ
l-malāikati
the Angels
مُرْدِفِينَ
mur'difīna
one after another
[Remember] when you were asking help of your Lord, and He answered you, "Indeed, I will reinforce you with a thousand from the angels, following one another."

8:10
Ayah 8:10
وَمَا جَعَلَهُ ٱللَّهُ إِلَّا بُشْرَىٰ وَلِتَطْمَئِنَّ بِهِۦ قُلُوبُكُمْ ۚ وَمَا ٱلنَّصْرُ إِلَّا مِنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ
وَمَا
wamā
And not
جَعَلَهُ
jaʿalahu
(it was) made
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
(by) Allah
إِلَّا
illā
but
بُشْرَىٰ
bush'rā
good tidings
وَلِتَطْمَئِنَّ
walitaṭma-inna
and so that might be at rest
بِهِۦ
bihi
with it
قُلُوبُكُمْ
qulūbukum
your hearts
وَمَا
wamā
And (there is) no
ٱلنَّصْرُ
l-naṣru
[the] victory
إِلَّا
illā
except
مِنْ
min
from
عِندِ
ʿindi
[of]
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
عَزِيزٌ
ʿazīzun
(is) All-Mighty
حَكِيمٌ
ḥakīmun
All-Wise
And Allāh made it not but good tidings and so that your hearts would be assured thereby. And victory is not but from Allāh. Indeed, Allāh is Exalted in Might and Wise.

8:11
Ayah 8:11
إِذْ يُغَشِّيكُمُ ٱلنُّعَاسَ أَمَنَةً مِّنْهُ وَيُنَزِّلُ عَلَيْكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً لِّيُطَهِّرَكُم بِهِۦ وَيُذْهِبَ عَنكُمْ رِجْزَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ وَلِيَرْبِطَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِكُمْ وَيُثَبِّتَ بِهِ ٱلْأَقْدَامَ
إِذْ
idh
When
يُغَشِّيكُمُ
yughashīkumu
He covered you
ٱلنُّعَاسَ
l-nuʿāsa
with [the] slumber
أَمَنَةً
amanatan
a security
مِّنْهُ
min'hu
from Him
وَيُنَزِّلُ
wayunazzilu
and sent down
عَلَيْكُم
ʿalaykum
upon you
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāi
the sky
مَآءً
māan
water
لِّيُطَهِّرَكُم
liyuṭahhirakum
so that He may purify you
بِهِۦ
bihi
with it
وَيُذْهِبَ
wayudh'hiba
and take away
عَنكُمْ
ʿankum
from you
رِجْزَ
rij'za
evil (suggestions)
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ
l-shayṭāni
(of) the Shaitaan
وَلِيَرْبِطَ
waliyarbiṭa
And to strengthen
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
[on]
قُلُوبِكُمْ
qulūbikum
your hearts
وَيُثَبِّتَ
wayuthabbita
and make firm
بِهِ
bihi
with it
ٱلْأَقْدَامَ
l-aqdāma
your feet
[Remember] when He overwhelmed you with drowsiness [giving] security from Him and sent down upon you from the sky, rain by which to purify you and remove from you the evil [suggestions] of Satan and to make steadfast your hearts and plant firmly thereby your feet.

8:12
Ayah 8:12
إِذْ يُوحِى رَبُّكَ إِلَى ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ أَنِّى مَعَكُمْ فَثَبِّتُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ۚ سَأُلْقِى فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ٱلرُّعْبَ فَٱضْرِبُوا۟ فَوْقَ ٱلْأَعْنَاقِ وَٱضْرِبُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ كُلَّ بَنَانٍ
إِذْ
idh
When
يُوحِى
yūḥī
inspired
رَبُّكَ
rabbuka
your Lord
إِلَى
ilā
to
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ
l-malāikati
the Angels
أَنِّى
annī
I am
مَعَكُمْ
maʿakum
with you
فَثَبِّتُوا۟
fathabbitū
so strengthen
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanū
believed
سَأُلْقِى
sa-ul'qī
I will cast
فِى
in
قُلُوبِ
qulūbi
(the) hearts
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
(of) those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieved
ٱلرُّعْبَ
l-ruʿ'ba
the terror
فَٱضْرِبُوا۟
fa-iḍ'ribū
so strike
فَوْقَ
fawqa
above
ٱلْأَعْنَاقِ
l-aʿnāqi
the necks
وَٱضْرِبُوا۟
wa-iḍ'ribū
and strike
مِنْهُمْ
min'hum
from them
كُلَّ
kulla
every
بَنَانٍ
banānin
fingertip[s]
[Remember] when your Lord inspired to the angels, "I am with you, so strengthen those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieved, so strike [them] upon the necks and strike from them every fingertip."1

8:13
Ayah 8:13
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ شَآقُّوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ ۚ وَمَن يُشَاقِقِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
That
بِأَنَّهُمْ
bi-annahum
(is) because they
شَآقُّوا۟
shāqqū
opposed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
وَرَسُولَهُۥ
warasūlahu
and His Messenger
وَمَن
waman
And whoever
يُشَاقِقِ
yushāqiqi
opposes
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
وَرَسُولَهُۥ
warasūlahu
and His Messenger
فَإِنَّ
fa-inna
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
شَدِيدُ
shadīdu
(is) severe
ٱلْعِقَابِ
l-ʿiqābi
in [the] penalty
That is because they opposed Allāh and His Messenger. And whoever opposes Allāh and His Messenger - indeed, Allāh is severe in penalty.

8:14
Ayah 8:14
ذَٰلِكُمْ فَذُوقُوهُ وَأَنَّ لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ
ذَٰلِكُمْ
dhālikum
That
فَذُوقُوهُ
fadhūqūhu
So taste it
وَأَنَّ
wa-anna
And that
لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
lil'kāfirīna
for the disbelievers
عَذَابَ
ʿadhāba
(is the) punishment
ٱلنَّارِ
l-nāri
(of) the Fire
"That [is yours], so taste it." And indeed for the disbelievers is the punishment of the Fire.

8:15
Ayah 8:15
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا لَقِيتُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ زَحْفًا فَلَا تُوَلُّوهُمُ ٱلْأَدْبَارَ
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
yāayyuhā
O you
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
who
ءَامَنُوٓا۟
āmanū
believe
إِذَا
idhā
When
لَقِيتُمُ
laqītumu
you meet
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieve
زَحْفًا
zaḥfan
advancing
فَلَا
falā
then (do) not
تُوَلُّوهُمُ
tuwallūhumu
turn to them
ٱلْأَدْبَارَ
l-adbāra
the backs
O you who have believed, when you meet those who disbelieve advancing [in battle], do not turn to them your backs [in flight].

8:16
Ayah 8:16
وَمَن يُوَلِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ دُبُرَهُۥٓ إِلَّا مُتَحَرِّفًا لِّقِتَالٍ أَوْ مُتَحَيِّزًا إِلَىٰ فِئَةٍ فَقَدْ بَآءَ بِغَضَبٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَمَأْوَىٰهُ جَهَنَّمُ ۖ وَبِئْسَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ
وَمَن
waman
And whoever
يُوَلِّهِمْ
yuwallihim
turns to them
يَوْمَئِذٍ
yawma-idhin
that day
دُبُرَهُۥٓ
duburahu
his back
إِلَّا
illā
except
مُتَحَرِّفًا
mutaḥarrifan
(as) a strategy
لِّقِتَالٍ
liqitālin
of war
أَوْ
aw
or
مُتَحَيِّزًا
mutaḥayyizan
(to) join
إِلَىٰ
ilā
to
فِئَةٍ
fi-atin
a group
فَقَدْ
faqad
certainly
بَآءَ
bāa
(he has) incurred
بِغَضَبٍ
bighaḍabin
wrath
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
وَمَأْوَىٰهُ
wamawāhu
and his abode
جَهَنَّمُ
jahannamu
(is) Hell
وَبِئْسَ
wabi'sa
a wretched
ٱلْمَصِيرُ
l-maṣīru
destination
And whoever turns his back to them on such a day, unless swerving [as a strategy] for war or joining [another] company, has certainly returned with anger [upon him] from Allāh, and his refuge is Hell - and wretched is the destination.

8:17
Ayah 8:17
فَلَمْ تَقْتُلُوهُمْ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَتَلَهُمْ ۚ وَمَا رَمَيْتَ إِذْ رَمَيْتَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ رَمَىٰ ۚ وَلِيُبْلِىَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْهُ بَلَآءً حَسَنًا ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
فَلَمْ
falam
And not
تَقْتُلُوهُمْ
taqtulūhum
you kill them
وَلَـٰكِنَّ
walākinna
but
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
قَتَلَهُمْ
qatalahum
killed them
وَمَا
wamā
And not
رَمَيْتَ
ramayta
you threw
إِذْ
idh
when
رَمَيْتَ
ramayta
you threw
وَلَـٰكِنَّ
walākinna
but
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
رَمَىٰ
ramā
threw
وَلِيُبْلِىَ
waliyub'liya
and that He may test
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
l-mu'minīna
the believers
مِنْهُ
min'hu
from Him
بَلَآءً
balāan
(with) a trial
حَسَنًا
ḥasanan
good
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
سَمِيعٌ
samīʿun
(is) All-Hearing
عَلِيمٌ
ʿalīmun
All-Knowing
And you did not kill them, but it was Allāh who killed them.1 And you threw not, [O Muḥammad], when you threw, but it was Allāh who threw2 that He might test the believers with a good test.3 Indeed, Allāh is Hearing and Knowing.

8:18
Ayah 8:18
ذَٰلِكُمْ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مُوهِنُ كَيْدِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
ذَٰلِكُمْ
dhālikum
That (is the case)
وَأَنَّ
wa-anna
and that
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah (is)
مُوهِنُ
mūhinu
one who makes weak
كَيْدِ
kaydi
(the) plan
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
l-kāfirīna
(of) the disbelievers
That [is so], and [also] that Allāh will weaken the plot of the disbelievers.

8:19
Ayah 8:19
إِن تَسْتَفْتِحُوا۟ فَقَدْ جَآءَكُمُ ٱلْفَتْحُ ۖ وَإِن تَنتَهُوا۟ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ ۖ وَإِن تَعُودُوا۟ نَعُدْ وَلَن تُغْنِىَ عَنكُمْ فِئَتُكُمْ شَيْـًٔا وَلَوْ كَثُرَتْ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
إِن
in
If
تَسْتَفْتِحُوا۟
tastaftiḥū
you ask for victory
فَقَدْ
faqad
then certainly
جَآءَكُمُ
jāakumu
has come to you
ٱلْفَتْحُ
l-fatḥu
the victory
وَإِن
wa-in
And if
تَنتَهُوا۟
tantahū
you desist
فَهُوَ
fahuwa
then it (is)
خَيْرٌ
khayrun
good
لَّكُمْ
lakum
for you
وَإِن
wa-in
but if
تَعُودُوا۟
taʿūdū
you return
نَعُدْ
naʿud
We will return (too)
وَلَن
walan
And never
تُغْنِىَ
tugh'niya
will avail
عَنكُمْ
ʿankum
you
فِئَتُكُمْ
fi-atukum
your forces
شَيْـًٔا
shayan
anything
وَلَوْ
walaw
even if
كَثُرَتْ
kathurat
(they are) numerous
وَأَنَّ
wa-anna
And that
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
مَعَ
maʿa
(is) with
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
l-mu'minīna
the believers
If you [disbelievers] seek the decision [i.e., victory] - the decision [i.e., defeat] has come to you. And if you desist [from hostilities], it is best for you; but if you return [to war], We will return, and never will you be availed by your [large] company at all, even if it should increase; and [that is] because Allāh is with the believers.

8:20
Ayah 8:20
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَلَا تَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ وَأَنتُمْ تَسْمَعُونَ
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
yāayyuhā
O you
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
who
ءَامَنُوٓا۟
āmanū
believe
أَطِيعُوا۟
aṭīʿū
Obey
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
وَرَسُولَهُۥ
warasūlahu
and His Messenger
وَلَا
walā
And (do) not
تَوَلَّوْا۟
tawallaw
turn away
عَنْهُ
ʿanhu
from him
وَأَنتُمْ
wa-antum
while you
تَسْمَعُونَ
tasmaʿūna
hear
O you who have believed, obey Allāh and His Messenger and do not turn from him while you hear [his order].

8:21
Ayah 8:21
وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا وَهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُونَ
وَلَا
walā
And (do) not
تَكُونُوا۟
takūnū
be
كَٱلَّذِينَ
ka-alladhīna
like those who
قَالُوا۟
qālū
say
سَمِعْنَا
samiʿ'nā
We heard
وَهُمْ
wahum
while they
لَا
(do) not
يَسْمَعُونَ
yasmaʿūna
hear
And do not be like those who say, "We have heard," while they do not hear.

8:22
Ayah 8:22
۞ إِنَّ شَرَّ ٱلدَّوَآبِّ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلصُّمُّ ٱلْبُكْمُ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
شَرَّ
sharra
worst
ٱلدَّوَآبِّ
l-dawābi
(of) the living creatures
عِندَ
ʿinda
near
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
ٱلصُّمُّ
l-ṣumu
(are) the deaf
ٱلْبُكْمُ
l-buk'mu
the dumb
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
لَا
(do) not
يَعْقِلُونَ
yaʿqilūna
use (their) intellect
Indeed, the worst of living creatures in the sight of Allāh are the deaf and dumb who do not use reason [i.e., the disbelievers].

8:23
Ayah 8:23
وَلَوْ عَلِمَ ٱللَّهُ فِيهِمْ خَيْرًا لَّأَسْمَعَهُمْ ۖ وَلَوْ أَسْمَعَهُمْ لَتَوَلَّوا۟ وَّهُم مُّعْرِضُونَ
وَلَوْ
walaw
And if
عَلِمَ
ʿalima
(had) known
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
فِيهِمْ
fīhim
in them
خَيْرًا
khayran
any good
لَّأَسْمَعَهُمْ
la-asmaʿahum
surely, He (would) have made them hear
وَلَوْ
walaw
And if
أَسْمَعَهُمْ
asmaʿahum
He had made them hear
لَتَوَلَّوا۟
latawallaw
surely they would have turned away
وَّهُم
wahum
while they
مُّعْرِضُونَ
muʿ'riḍūna
(were) averse
Had Allāh known any good in them, He would have made them hear. And if He had made them hear, they would [still] have turned away, while they were refusing.

8:24
Ayah 8:24
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ لِمَا يُحْيِيكُمْ ۖ وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَحُولُ بَيْنَ ٱلْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِۦ وَأَنَّهُۥٓ إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
yāayyuhā
O you
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanū
believe
ٱسْتَجِيبُوا۟
is'tajībū
Respond
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
to Allah
وَلِلرَّسُولِ
walilrrasūli
and His Messenger
إِذَا
idhā
when
دَعَاكُمْ
daʿākum
he calls you
لِمَا
limā
to what
يُحْيِيكُمْ
yuḥ'yīkum
gives you life
وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟
wa-iʿ'lamū
And know
أَنَّ
anna
that
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
يَحُولُ
yaḥūlu
comes
بَيْنَ
bayna
(in) between
ٱلْمَرْءِ
l-mari
a man
وَقَلْبِهِۦ
waqalbihi
and his heart
وَأَنَّهُۥٓ
wa-annahu
and that
إِلَيْهِ
ilayhi
to Him
تُحْشَرُونَ
tuḥ'sharūna
you will be gathered
O you who have believed, respond to Allāh and to the Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life. And know that Allāh intervenes between a man and his heart and that to Him you will be gathered.

8:25
Ayah 8:25
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ فِتْنَةً لَّا تُصِيبَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ مِنكُمْ خَآصَّةً ۖ وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ
وَٱتَّقُوا۟
wa-ittaqū
And fear
فِتْنَةً
fit'natan
a trial
لَّا
not
تُصِيبَنَّ
tuṣībanna
which will afflict
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
ظَلَمُوا۟
ẓalamū
do wrong
مِنكُمْ
minkum
among you
خَآصَّةً
khāṣṣatan
exclusively
وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟
wa-iʿ'lamū
And know
أَنَّ
anna
that
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
شَدِيدُ
shadīdu
(is) severe
ٱلْعِقَابِ
l-ʿiqābi
(in) the penalty
And fear a trial1 which will not strike those who have wronged among you exclusively, and know that Allāh is severe in penalty.

8:26
Ayah 8:26
وَٱذْكُرُوٓا۟ إِذْ أَنتُمْ قَلِيلٌ مُّسْتَضْعَفُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ تَخَافُونَ أَن يَتَخَطَّفَكُمُ ٱلنَّاسُ فَـَٔاوَىٰكُمْ وَأَيَّدَكُم بِنَصْرِهِۦ وَرَزَقَكُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
وَٱذْكُرُوٓا۟
wa-udh'kurū
And remember
إِذْ
idh
when
أَنتُمْ
antum
you
قَلِيلٌ
qalīlun
(were) few
مُّسْتَضْعَفُونَ
mus'taḍʿafūna
(and) deemed weak
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
تَخَافُونَ
takhāfūna
fearing
أَن
an
that
يَتَخَطَّفَكُمُ
yatakhaṭṭafakumu
might do away with you
ٱلنَّاسُ
l-nāsu
the men
فَـَٔاوَىٰكُمْ
faāwākum
then He sheltered you
وَأَيَّدَكُم
wa-ayyadakum
and strengthened you
بِنَصْرِهِۦ
binaṣrihi
with His help
وَرَزَقَكُم
warazaqakum
and provided you
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ
l-ṭayibāti
the good things
لَعَلَّكُمْ
laʿallakum
so that you may
تَشْكُرُونَ
tashkurūna
(be) thankful
And remember when you were few and oppressed in the land, fearing that people might abduct you, but He sheltered you, supported you with His victory, and provided you with good things - that you might be grateful.

8:27
Ayah 8:27
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَخُونُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ وَتَخُونُوٓا۟ أَمَـٰنَـٰتِكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
yāayyuhā
O you
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanū
believe
لَا
(Do) not
تَخُونُوا۟
takhūnū
betray
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
وَٱلرَّسُولَ
wal-rasūla
and the Messenger
وَتَخُونُوٓا۟
watakhūnū
or betray
أَمَـٰنَـٰتِكُمْ
amānātikum
your trusts
وَأَنتُمْ
wa-antum
while you
تَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūna
know
O you who have believed, do not betray Allāh and the Messenger or betray your trusts while you know [the consequence].

8:28
Ayah 8:28
وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّمَآ أَمْوَٰلُكُمْ وَأَوْلَـٰدُكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ عِندَهُۥٓ أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ
وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟
wa-iʿ'lamū
And know
أَنَّمَآ
annamā
that
أَمْوَٰلُكُمْ
amwālukum
your wealth
وَأَوْلَـٰدُكُمْ
wa-awlādukum
and your children
فِتْنَةٌ
fit'natun
(are) a trial
وَأَنَّ
wa-anna
And that
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
عِندَهُۥٓ
ʿindahu
with Him
أَجْرٌ
ajrun
(is) a reward
عَظِيمٌ
ʿaẓīmun
great
And know that your properties and your children are but a trial and that Allāh has with Him a great reward.

8:29
Ayah 8:29
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِن تَتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ يَجْعَل لَّكُمْ فُرْقَانًا وَيُكَفِّرْ عَنكُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِكُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ ذُو ٱلْفَضْلِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
yāayyuhā
O you
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
who
ءَامَنُوٓا۟
āmanū
believe
إِن
in
If
تَتَّقُوا۟
tattaqū
you fear
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
يَجْعَل
yajʿal
He will grant
لَّكُمْ
lakum
you
فُرْقَانًا
fur'qānan
a criterion
وَيُكَفِّرْ
wayukaffir
and will remove
عَنكُمْ
ʿankum
from you
سَيِّـَٔاتِكُمْ
sayyiātikum
your evil deeds
وَيَغْفِرْ
wayaghfir
and forgive
لَكُمْ
lakum
you
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
ذُو
dhū
(is) the Possessor
ٱلْفَضْلِ
l-faḍli
(of) Bounty
ٱلْعَظِيمِ
l-ʿaẓīmi
the Great
O you who have believed, if you fear Allāh, He will grant you a criterion1 and will remove from you your misdeeds and forgive you. And Allāh is the possessor of great bounty.

8:30
Ayah 8:30
وَإِذْ يَمْكُرُ بِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِيُثْبِتُوكَ أَوْ يَقْتُلُوكَ أَوْ يُخْرِجُوكَ ۚ وَيَمْكُرُونَ وَيَمْكُرُ ٱللَّهُ ۖ وَٱللَّهُ خَيْرُ ٱلْمَـٰكِرِينَ
وَإِذْ
wa-idh
And when
يَمْكُرُ
yamkuru
plotted
بِكَ
bika
against you
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieved
لِيُثْبِتُوكَ
liyuth'bitūka
that they restrain you
أَوْ
aw
or
يَقْتُلُوكَ
yaqtulūka
kill you
أَوْ
aw
or
يُخْرِجُوكَ
yukh'rijūka
drive you out
وَيَمْكُرُونَ
wayamkurūna
And they were planning
وَيَمْكُرُ
wayamkuru
and (also) was planning
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
خَيْرُ
khayru
is (the) Best
ٱلْمَـٰكِرِينَ
l-mākirīna
(of) the Planners
And [remember, O Muḥammad], when those who disbelieved plotted against you to restrain you or kill you or evict you [from Makkah]. But they plan, and Allāh plans. And Allāh is the best of planners.

8:31
Ayah 8:31
وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالُوا۟ قَدْ سَمِعْنَا لَوْ نَشَآءُ لَقُلْنَا مِثْلَ هَـٰذَآ ۙ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّآ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
وَإِذَا
wa-idhā
And when
تُتْلَىٰ
tut'lā
are recited
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
to them
ءَايَـٰتُنَا
āyātunā
Our Verses
قَالُوا۟
qālū
they say
قَدْ
qad
Verily
سَمِعْنَا
samiʿ'nā
we have heard
لَوْ
law
if
نَشَآءُ
nashāu
we wish
لَقُلْنَا
laqul'nā
surely, we could say
مِثْلَ
mith'la
like
هَـٰذَآ
hādhā
this
إِنْ
in
Not
هَـٰذَآ
hādhā
is this
إِلَّآ
illā
but
أَسَـٰطِيرُ
asāṭīru
tales
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
l-awalīna
(of) the former (people)
And when Our verses are recited to them, they say, "We have heard. If we willed, we could say [something] like this. This is not but legends of the former peoples."

8:32
Ayah 8:32
وَإِذْ قَالُوا۟ ٱللَّهُمَّ إِن كَانَ هَـٰذَا هُوَ ٱلْحَقَّ مِنْ عِندِكَ فَأَمْطِرْ عَلَيْنَا حِجَارَةً مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ أَوِ ٱئْتِنَا بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
وَإِذْ
wa-idh
And when
قَالُوا۟
qālū
they said
ٱللَّهُمَّ
l-lahuma
O Allah
إِن
in
If
كَانَ
kāna
was
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
this
هُوَ
huwa
[it]
ٱلْحَقَّ
l-ḥaqa
the truth
مِنْ
min
[of]
عِندِكَ
ʿindika
from You
فَأَمْطِرْ
fa-amṭir
then (send) rain
عَلَيْنَا
ʿalaynā
upon us
حِجَارَةً
ḥijāratan
(of) stones
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāi
the sky
أَوِ
awi
or
ٱئْتِنَا
i'tinā
bring (upon) us
بِعَذَابٍ
biʿadhābin
a punishment
أَلِيمٍ
alīmin
painful
And [remember] when they said, "O Allāh, if this should be the truth from You, then rain down upon us stones from the sky or bring us a painful punishment."

8:33
Ayah 8:33
وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَأَنتَ فِيهِمْ ۚ وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ مُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ
وَمَا
wamā
But not
كَانَ
kāna
is
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
(for) Allah
لِيُعَذِّبَهُمْ
liyuʿadhibahum
that He punishes them
وَأَنتَ
wa-anta
while you
فِيهِمْ
fīhim
(are) among them
وَمَا
wamā
and not
كَانَ
kāna
is
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
مُعَذِّبَهُمْ
muʿadhibahum
the One Who punishes them
وَهُمْ
wahum
while they
يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ
yastaghfirūna
seek forgiveness
But Allāh would not punish them while you, [O Muḥammad], are among them, and Allāh would not punish them while they seek forgiveness.

8:34
Ayah 8:34
وَمَا لَهُمْ أَلَّا يُعَذِّبَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَهُمْ يَصُدُّونَ عَنِ ٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ وَمَا كَانُوٓا۟ أَوْلِيَآءَهُۥٓ ۚ إِنْ أَوْلِيَآؤُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْمُتَّقُونَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
وَمَا
wamā
But what
لَهُمْ
lahum
(is) for them
أَلَّا
allā
that not
يُعَذِّبَهُمُ
yuʿadhibahumu
(should) punish them
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
وَهُمْ
wahum
while they
يَصُدُّونَ
yaṣuddūna
hinder (people)
عَنِ
ʿani
from
ٱلْمَسْجِدِ
l-masjidi
Al-Masjid
ٱلْحَرَامِ
l-ḥarāmi
Al-Haraam
وَمَا
wamā
while not
كَانُوٓا۟
kānū
they are
أَوْلِيَآءَهُۥٓ
awliyāahu
its guardians
إِنْ
in
Not (can be)
أَوْلِيَآؤُهُۥٓ
awliyāuhu
its guardians
إِلَّا
illā
except
ٱلْمُتَّقُونَ
l-mutaqūna
the ones who fear Allah
وَلَـٰكِنَّ
walākinna
but
أَكْثَرَهُمْ
aktharahum
most of them
لَا
(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَ
yaʿlamūna
know
But why should Allāh not punish them while they obstruct [people] from al-Masjid al-Ḥarām and they were not [fit to be] its guardians? Its [true] guardians are not but the righteous, but most of them do not know.

8:35
Ayah 8:35
وَمَا كَانَ صَلَاتُهُمْ عِندَ ٱلْبَيْتِ إِلَّا مُكَآءً وَتَصْدِيَةً ۚ فَذُوقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ
وَمَا
wamā
And not
كَانَ
kāna
was
صَلَاتُهُمْ
ṣalātuhum
their prayer
عِندَ
ʿinda
at
ٱلْبَيْتِ
l-bayti
the House
إِلَّا
illā
except
مُكَآءً
mukāan
whistling
وَتَصْدِيَةً
wataṣdiyatan
and clapping
فَذُوقُوا۟
fadhūqū
So taste
ٱلْعَذَابَ
l-ʿadhāba
the punishment
بِمَا
bimā
because
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you used to
تَكْفُرُونَ
takfurūna
disbelieve
And their prayer at the House [i.e., the Kaʿbah] was not except whistling and handclapping. So taste the punishment for what you disbelieved [i.e., practiced of deviations].

8:36
Ayah 8:36
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُنفِقُونَ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ لِيَصُدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ فَسَيُنفِقُونَهَا ثُمَّ تَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ حَسْرَةً ثُمَّ يُغْلَبُونَ ۗ وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ يُحْشَرُونَ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieve
يُنفِقُونَ
yunfiqūna
they spend
أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ
amwālahum
their wealth
لِيَصُدُّوا۟
liyaṣuddū
to hinder (people)
عَن
ʿan
from
سَبِيلِ
sabīli
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
فَسَيُنفِقُونَهَا
fasayunfiqūnahā
So they will spend it
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
تَكُونُ
takūnu
it will be
عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
for them
حَسْرَةً
ḥasratan
a regret
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
يُغْلَبُونَ
yugh'labūna
they will be overcome
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
And those who
كَفَرُوٓا۟
kafarū
disbelieve
إِلَىٰ
ilā
to
جَهَنَّمَ
jahannama
Hell
يُحْشَرُونَ
yuḥ'sharūna
they will be gathered
Indeed, those who disbelieve spend their wealth to avert [people] from the way of Allāh. So they will spend it; then it will be for them a [source of] regret; then they will be overcome. And those who have disbelieved - unto Hell they will be gathered.

8:37
Ayah 8:37
لِيَمِيزَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْخَبِيثَ مِنَ ٱلطَّيِّبِ وَيَجْعَلَ ٱلْخَبِيثَ بَعْضَهُۥ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ فَيَرْكُمَهُۥ جَمِيعًا فَيَجْعَلَهُۥ فِى جَهَنَّمَ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْخَـٰسِرُونَ
لِيَمِيزَ
liyamīza
That may distinguish
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
ٱلْخَبِيثَ
l-khabītha
the wicked
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلطَّيِّبِ
l-ṭayibi
the good
وَيَجْعَلَ
wayajʿala
and place
ٱلْخَبِيثَ
l-khabītha
the wicked
بَعْضَهُۥ
baʿḍahu
some of them
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
on
بَعْضٍ
baʿḍin
others
فَيَرْكُمَهُۥ
fayarkumahu
and heap them
جَمِيعًا
jamīʿan
all together
فَيَجْعَلَهُۥ
fayajʿalahu
and put them
فِى
in
جَهَنَّمَ
jahannama
Hell
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
Those
هُمُ
humu
they
ٱلْخَـٰسِرُونَ
l-khāsirūna
(are) the losers
[It is] so that Allāh may distinguish the wicked from the good and place the wicked some of them upon others and heap them all together and put them into Hell. It is those who are the losers.

8:38
Ayah 8:38
قُل لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِن يَنتَهُوا۟ يُغْفَرْ لَهُم مَّا قَدْ سَلَفَ وَإِن يَعُودُوا۟ فَقَدْ مَضَتْ سُنَّتُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
قُل
qul
Say
لِّلَّذِينَ
lilladhīna
to those who
كَفَرُوٓا۟
kafarū
disbelieve
إِن
in
if
يَنتَهُوا۟
yantahū
they cease
يُغْفَرْ
yugh'far
will be forgiven
لَهُم
lahum
for them
مَّا
what
قَدْ
qad
[verily]
سَلَفَ
salafa
(is) past
وَإِن
wa-in
But if
يَعُودُوا۟
yaʿūdū
they return
فَقَدْ
faqad
then verily
مَضَتْ
maḍat
preceded
سُنَّتُ
sunnatu
(the) practice
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
l-awalīna
(of) the former (people)
Say to those who have disbelieved [that] if they cease, what has previously occurred will be forgiven for them. But if they return [to hostility] - then the precedent of the former [rebellious] peoples has already taken place.1

8:39
Ayah 8:39
وَقَـٰتِلُوهُمْ حَتَّىٰ لَا تَكُونَ فِتْنَةٌ وَيَكُونَ ٱلدِّينُ كُلُّهُۥ لِلَّهِ ۚ فَإِنِ ٱنتَهَوْا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ
وَقَـٰتِلُوهُمْ
waqātilūhum
And fight them
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattā
until
لَا
not
تَكُونَ
takūna
there is
فِتْنَةٌ
fit'natun
oppression
وَيَكُونَ
wayakūna
and is
ٱلدِّينُ
l-dīnu
the religion
كُلُّهُۥ
kulluhu
all of it
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
for Allah
فَإِنِ
fa-ini
But if
ٱنتَهَوْا۟
intahaw
they cease
فَإِنَّ
fa-inna
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
بِمَا
bimā
of what
يَعْمَلُونَ
yaʿmalūna
they do
بَصِيرٌ
baṣīrun
(is) All-Seer
And fight against them until there is no fitnah1 and [until] the religion [i.e., worship], all of it, is for Allāh.2 And if they cease - then indeed, Allāh is Seeing of what they do.

8:40
Ayah 8:40
وَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَوْلَىٰكُمْ ۚ نِعْمَ ٱلْمَوْلَىٰ وَنِعْمَ ٱلنَّصِيرُ
وَإِن
wa-in
And if
تَوَلَّوْا۟
tawallaw
they turn away
فَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟
fa-iʿ'lamū
then know
أَنَّ
anna
that
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
مَوْلَىٰكُمْ
mawlākum
(is) your Protector
نِعْمَ
niʿ'ma
Excellent
ٱلْمَوْلَىٰ
l-mawlā
(is) the Protector
وَنِعْمَ
waniʿ'ma
and Excellent
ٱلنَّصِيرُ
l-naṣīru
(is) the Helper
But if they turn away - then know that Allāh is your protector. Excellent is the protector, and excellent is the helper.

8:41
Ayah 8:41
۞ وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّمَا غَنِمْتُم مِّن شَىْءٍ فَأَنَّ لِلَّهِ خُمُسَهُۥ وَلِلرَّسُولِ وَلِذِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَٱلْيَتَـٰمَىٰ وَٱلْمَسَـٰكِينِ وَٱبْنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ إِن كُنتُمْ ءَامَنتُم بِٱللَّهِ وَمَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَىٰ عَبْدِنَا يَوْمَ ٱلْفُرْقَانِ يَوْمَ ٱلْتَقَى ٱلْجَمْعَانِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟
wa-iʿ'lamū
And know
أَنَّمَا
annamā
that what
غَنِمْتُم
ghanim'tum
you obtain (as) spoils of war
مِّن
min
of
شَىْءٍ
shayin
anything
فَأَنَّ
fa-anna
then that
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
for Allah
خُمُسَهُۥ
khumusahu
(is) one fifth of it
وَلِلرَّسُولِ
walilrrasūli
and for the Messenger
وَلِذِى
walidhī
and for the
ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ
l-qur'bā
near relatives
وَٱلْيَتَـٰمَىٰ
wal-yatāmā
and the orphans
وَٱلْمَسَـٰكِينِ
wal-masākīni
and the needy
وَٱبْنِ
wa-ib'ni
and the
ٱلسَّبِيلِ
l-sabīli
wayfarer
إِن
in
if
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you
ءَامَنتُم
āmantum
believe
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
in Allah
وَمَآ
wamā
and (in) what
أَنزَلْنَا
anzalnā
We sent down
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
to
عَبْدِنَا
ʿabdinā
Our slave
يَوْمَ
yawma
(on the) day
ٱلْفُرْقَانِ
l-fur'qāni
(of) the criterion
يَوْمَ
yawma
(the) day
ٱلْتَقَى
l-taqā
(when) met
ٱلْجَمْعَانِ
l-jamʿāni
the two forces
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
(is) on
كُلِّ
kulli
every
شَىْءٍ
shayin
thing
قَدِيرٌ
qadīrun
All-Powerful
And know that anything you obtain of war booty - then indeed, for Allāh is one fifth of it and for the Messenger1 and for [his] near relatives2 and the orphans, the needy, and the [stranded] traveler,3 if you have believed in Allāh and in that which We sent down to Our Servant4 on the day of criterion [i.e., decisive encounter] - the day when the two armies met [at Badr]. And Allāh, over all things, is competent.

8:42
Ayah 8:42
إِذْ أَنتُم بِٱلْعُدْوَةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَهُم بِٱلْعُدْوَةِ ٱلْقُصْوَىٰ وَٱلرَّكْبُ أَسْفَلَ مِنكُمْ ۚ وَلَوْ تَوَاعَدتُّمْ لَٱخْتَلَفْتُمْ فِى ٱلْمِيعَـٰدِ ۙ وَلَـٰكِن لِّيَقْضِىَ ٱللَّهُ أَمْرًا كَانَ مَفْعُولًا لِّيَهْلِكَ مَنْ هَلَكَ عَنۢ بَيِّنَةٍ وَيَحْيَىٰ مَنْ حَىَّ عَنۢ بَيِّنَةٍ ۗ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَسَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
إِذْ
idh
When
أَنتُم
antum
you (were)
بِٱلْعُدْوَةِ
bil-ʿud'wati
on side of the valley
ٱلدُّنْيَا
l-dun'yā
the nearer
وَهُم
wahum
and they
بِٱلْعُدْوَةِ
bil-ʿud'wati
(were) on the side
ٱلْقُصْوَىٰ
l-quṣ'wā
the farther
وَٱلرَّكْبُ
wal-rakbu
and the caravan
أَسْفَلَ
asfala
(was) lower
مِنكُمْ
minkum
than you
وَلَوْ
walaw
And if
تَوَاعَدتُّمْ
tawāʿadttum
you (had) made an appointment
لَٱخْتَلَفْتُمْ
la-ikh'talaftum
certainly you would have failed
فِى
in
ٱلْمِيعَـٰدِ
l-mīʿādi
the appointment
وَلَـٰكِن
walākin
But
لِّيَقْضِىَ
liyaqḍiya
that might accomplish
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
أَمْرًا
amran
a matter
كَانَ
kāna
(that) was
مَفْعُولًا
mafʿūlan
destined
لِّيَهْلِكَ
liyahlika
that (might be) destroyed
مَنْ
man
(those) who
هَلَكَ
halaka
(were to be) destroyed
عَنۢ
ʿan
on
بَيِّنَةٍ
bayyinatin
a clear evidence
وَيَحْيَىٰ
wayaḥyā
and (might) live
مَنْ
man
(those) who
حَىَّ
ḥayya
(were to) live
عَنۢ
ʿan
on
بَيِّنَةٍ
bayyinatin
a clear evidence
وَإِنَّ
wa-inna
And indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
لَسَمِيعٌ
lasamīʿun
(is) All-Hearing
عَلِيمٌ
ʿalīmun
All-Knowing
[Remember] when you were on the near side of the valley, and they were on the farther side, and the caravan was lower [in position] than you. If you had made an appointment [to meet], you would have missed the appointment. But [it was] so that Allāh might accomplish a matter already destined - that those who perished [through disbelief] would perish upon evidence and those who lived [in faith] would live upon evidence; and indeed, Allāh is Hearing and Knowing.

8:43
Ayah 8:43
إِذْ يُرِيكَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ فِى مَنَامِكَ قَلِيلًا ۖ وَلَوْ أَرَىٰكَهُمْ كَثِيرًا لَّفَشِلْتُمْ وَلَتَنَـٰزَعْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَمْرِ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَلَّمَ ۗ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ
إِذْ
idh
When
يُرِيكَهُمُ
yurīkahumu
you (where) shown them
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
(by) Allah
فِى
in
مَنَامِكَ
manāmika
your dream
قَلِيلًا
qalīlan
(as) few
وَلَوْ
walaw
and if
أَرَىٰكَهُمْ
arākahum
He had shown them to you
كَثِيرًا
kathīran
(as) many
لَّفَشِلْتُمْ
lafashil'tum
surely you would have lost courage
وَلَتَنَـٰزَعْتُمْ
walatanāzaʿtum
and surely you would have disputed
فِى
in
ٱلْأَمْرِ
l-amri
the matter
وَلَـٰكِنَّ
walākinna
but
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
سَلَّمَ
sallama
saved (you)
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, He
عَلِيمٌۢ
ʿalīmun
(is) All-Knower
بِذَاتِ
bidhāti
of what is in
ٱلصُّدُورِ
l-ṣudūri
the breasts
[Remember, O Muḥammad], when Allāh showed them to you in your dream as few; and if He had shown them to you as many, you [believers] would have lost courage and would have disputed in the matter [of whether to fight], but Allāh saved [you from that]. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.

8:44
Ayah 8:44
وَإِذْ يُرِيكُمُوهُمْ إِذِ ٱلْتَقَيْتُمْ فِىٓ أَعْيُنِكُمْ قَلِيلًا وَيُقَلِّلُكُمْ فِىٓ أَعْيُنِهِمْ لِيَقْضِىَ ٱللَّهُ أَمْرًا كَانَ مَفْعُولًا ۗ وَإِلَى ٱللَّهِ تُرْجَعُ ٱلْأُمُورُ
وَإِذْ
wa-idh
And when
يُرِيكُمُوهُمْ
yurīkumūhum
He showed them to you
إِذِ
idhi
when
ٱلْتَقَيْتُمْ
l-taqaytum
you met
فِىٓ
in
أَعْيُنِكُمْ
aʿyunikum
your eyes
قَلِيلًا
qalīlan
(as) few
وَيُقَلِّلُكُمْ
wayuqallilukum
and He made you (appear) as few
فِىٓ
in
أَعْيُنِهِمْ
aʿyunihim
their eyes
لِيَقْضِىَ
liyaqḍiya
that might accomplish
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah might accomplish
أَمْرًا
amran
a matter
كَانَ
kāna
(that) was
مَفْعُولًا
mafʿūlan
(already) destined
وَإِلَى
wa-ilā
And to
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
تُرْجَعُ
tur'jaʿu
return
ٱلْأُمُورُ
l-umūru
(all) the matters
And [remember] when He showed them to you, when you met, as few in your eyes, and He made you [appear] as few in their eyes so that Allāh might accomplish a matter already destined. And to Allāh are [all] matters returned.

8:45
Ayah 8:45
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا لَقِيتُمْ فِئَةً فَٱثْبُتُوا۟ وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
yāayyuhā
O you
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
who
ءَامَنُوٓا۟
āmanū
believe
إِذَا
idhā
When
لَقِيتُمْ
laqītum
you meet
فِئَةً
fi-atan
a force
فَٱثْبُتُوا۟
fa-uth'butū
then be firm
وَٱذْكُرُوا۟
wa-udh'kurū
and remember
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
كَثِيرًا
kathīran
much
لَّعَلَّكُمْ
laʿallakum
so that you may
تُفْلِحُونَ
tuf'liḥūna
(be) successful
O you who have believed, when you encounter a company [from the enemy forces], stand firm and remember Allāh much that you may be successful.

8:46
Ayah 8:46
وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَلَا تَنَـٰزَعُوا۟ فَتَفْشَلُوا۟ وَتَذْهَبَ رِيحُكُمْ ۖ وَٱصْبِرُوٓا۟ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
وَأَطِيعُوا۟
wa-aṭīʿū
And obey
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
وَرَسُولَهُۥ
warasūlahu
and His Messenger
وَلَا
walā
and (do) not
تَنَـٰزَعُوا۟
tanāzaʿū
dispute
فَتَفْشَلُوا۟
fatafshalū
lest you lose courage
وَتَذْهَبَ
watadhhaba
and (would) depart
رِيحُكُمْ
rīḥukum
your strength
وَٱصْبِرُوٓا۟
wa-iṣ'birū
and be patient
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
مَعَ
maʿa
(is) with
ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
l-ṣābirīna
the patient ones
And obey Allāh and His Messenger, and do not dispute and [thus] lose courage and [then] your strength would depart; and be patient. Indeed, Allāh is with the patient.

8:47
Ayah 8:47
وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِينَ خَرَجُوا۟ مِن دِيَـٰرِهِم بَطَرًا وَرِئَآءَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطٌ
وَلَا
walā
And (do) not
تَكُونُوا۟
takūnū
be
كَٱلَّذِينَ
ka-alladhīna
like those who
خَرَجُوا۟
kharajū
came forth
مِن
min
from
دِيَـٰرِهِم
diyārihim
their homes
بَطَرًا
baṭaran
boastfully
وَرِئَآءَ
wariāa
and showing off
ٱلنَّاسِ
l-nāsi
(to) the people
وَيَصُدُّونَ
wayaṣuddūna
and hinder (them)
عَن
ʿan
from
سَبِيلِ
sabīli
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
بِمَا
bimā
of what
يَعْمَلُونَ
yaʿmalūna
they do
مُحِيطٌ
muḥīṭun
(is) All-Encompassing
And do not be like those who came forth from their homes insolently and to be seen by people and avert [them] from the way of Allāh. And Allāh is encompassing1 of what they do.

8:48
Ayah 8:48
وَإِذْ زَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ وَقَالَ لَا غَالِبَ لَكُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ مِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَإِنِّى جَارٌ لَّكُمْ ۖ فَلَمَّا تَرَآءَتِ ٱلْفِئَتَانِ نَكَصَ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيْهِ وَقَالَ إِنِّى بَرِىٓءٌ مِّنكُمْ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰ مَا لَا تَرَوْنَ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ ٱللَّهَ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ
وَإِذْ
wa-idh
And when
زَيَّنَ
zayyana
made fair-seeming
لَهُمُ
lahumu
to them
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ
l-shayṭānu
the Shaitaan
أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ
aʿmālahum
their deeds
وَقَالَ
waqāla
and he said
لَا
No (one)
غَالِبَ
ghāliba
(can) overcome
لَكُمُ
lakumu
[to] you
ٱلْيَوْمَ
l-yawma
today
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلنَّاسِ
l-nāsi
the people
وَإِنِّى
wa-innī
and indeed, I am
جَارٌ
jārun
a neighbor
لَّكُمْ
lakum
for you
فَلَمَّا
falammā
But when
تَرَآءَتِ
tarāati
came in sight
ٱلْفِئَتَانِ
l-fi-atāni
the two forces
نَكَصَ
nakaṣa
he turned away
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
on
عَقِبَيْهِ
ʿaqibayhi
his heels
وَقَالَ
waqāla
and said
إِنِّى
innī
Indeed, I am
بَرِىٓءٌ
barīon
free
مِّنكُمْ
minkum
of you
إِنِّىٓ
innī
Indeed, I
أَرَىٰ
arā
see
مَا
what
لَا
not
تَرَوْنَ
tarawna
you see
إِنِّىٓ
innī
indeed, I
أَخَافُ
akhāfu
[I] fear
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
شَدِيدُ
shadīdu
(is) severe
ٱلْعِقَابِ
l-ʿiqābi
(in) the penalty
And [remember] when Satan made their deeds pleasing to them and said, "No one can overcome you today from among the people, and indeed, I am your protector." But when the two armies sighted each other, he turned on his heels and said, "Indeed, I am disassociated from you. Indeed, I see what you do not see; indeed, I fear Allāh. And Allāh is severe in penalty."

8:49
Ayah 8:49
إِذْ يَقُولُ ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ غَرَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ دِينُهُمْ ۗ وَمَن يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ
إِذْ
idh
When
يَقُولُ
yaqūlu
said
ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقُونَ
l-munāfiqūna
the hypocrites
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
and those who
فِى
in
قُلُوبِهِم
qulūbihim
their hearts
مَّرَضٌ
maraḍun
(was) a disease
غَرَّ
gharra
(Had) deluded
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ
hāulāi
these (people)
دِينُهُمْ
dīnuhum
their religion
وَمَن
waman
But whoever
يَتَوَكَّلْ
yatawakkal
puts (his) trust
عَلَى
ʿalā
in
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
فَإِنَّ
fa-inna
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
عَزِيزٌ
ʿazīzun
(is) All-Mighty
حَكِيمٌ
ḥakīmun
All-Wise
[Remember] when the hypocrites and those in whose hearts was disease [i.e., arrogance and disbelief] said, "Their religion has deluded those [Muslims]." But whoever relies upon Allāh - then indeed, Allāh is Exalted in Might and Wise.

8:50
Ayah 8:50
وَلَوْ تَرَىٰٓ إِذْ يَتَوَفَّى ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ۙ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ يَضْرِبُونَ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَأَدْبَـٰرَهُمْ وَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلْحَرِيقِ
وَلَوْ
walaw
And if
تَرَىٰٓ
tarā
you (could) see
إِذْ
idh
when
يَتَوَفَّى
yatawaffā
take away souls
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
(of) those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieve
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ
l-malāikatu
the Angels
يَضْرِبُونَ
yaḍribūna
striking
وُجُوهَهُمْ
wujūhahum
their faces
وَأَدْبَـٰرَهُمْ
wa-adbārahum
and their backs
وَذُوقُوا۟
wadhūqū
Taste
عَذَابَ
ʿadhāba
(the) punishment
ٱلْحَرِيقِ
l-ḥarīqi
(of) the Blazing Fire
And if you could but see when the angels take the souls of those who disbelieved...1 They are striking their faces and their backs and [saying], "Taste the punishment of the Burning Fire.

8:51
Ayah 8:51
ذَٰلِكَ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَيْسَ بِظَلَّـٰمٍ لِّلْعَبِيدِ
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
That
بِمَا
bimā
(is) for what
قَدَّمَتْ
qaddamat
sent forth
أَيْدِيكُمْ
aydīkum
your hands
وَأَنَّ
wa-anna
And indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
لَيْسَ
laysa
(is) not
بِظَلَّـٰمٍ
biẓallāmin
unjust
لِّلْعَبِيدِ
lil'ʿabīdi
to His slaves
That is for what your hands have put forth [of evil] and because Allāh is not ever unjust to [His] servants."

8:52
Ayah 8:52
كَدَأْبِ ءَالِ فِرْعَوْنَ ۙ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَوِىٌّ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ
كَدَأْبِ
kadabi
Like (the) way
ءَالِ
āli
(of) people
فِرْعَوْنَ
fir'ʿawna
(of) Firaun
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
and those who
مِن
min
(were) from
قَبْلِهِمْ
qablihim
before them
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
They disbelieved
بِـَٔايَـٰتِ
biāyāti
in (the) Signs
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
فَأَخَذَهُمُ
fa-akhadhahumu
so seized them
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
بِذُنُوبِهِمْ
bidhunūbihim
for their sins
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
قَوِىٌّ
qawiyyun
(is) All-Strong
شَدِيدُ
shadīdu
(and) severe
ٱلْعِقَابِ
l-ʿiqābi
(in) the penalty
[Theirs is] like the custom of the people of Pharaoh and of those before them. They disbelieved in the signs of Allāh, so Allāh seized them for their sins. Indeed, Allāh is Powerful and severe in penalty.

8:53
Ayah 8:53
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَمْ يَكُ مُغَيِّرًا نِّعْمَةً أَنْعَمَهَا عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍ حَتَّىٰ يُغَيِّرُوا۟ مَا بِأَنفُسِهِمْ ۙ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
That
بِأَنَّ
bi-anna
(is) because
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
لَمْ
lam
not
يَكُ
yaku
is
مُغَيِّرًا
mughayyiran
One Who changes
نِّعْمَةً
niʿ'matan
a favor
أَنْعَمَهَا
anʿamahā
which He had bestowed
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
on
قَوْمٍ
qawmin
a people
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattā
until
يُغَيِّرُوا۟
yughayyirū
they change
مَا
what
بِأَنفُسِهِمْ
bi-anfusihim
(is) in themselves
وَأَنَّ
wa-anna
And indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
سَمِيعٌ
samīʿun
(is) All-Hearing
عَلِيمٌ
ʿalīmun
All-Knowing
That is because Allāh would not change a favor which He had bestowed upon a people until they change what is within themselves. And indeed, Allāh is Hearing and Knowing.

8:54
Ayah 8:54
كَدَأْبِ ءَالِ فِرْعَوْنَ ۙ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَهْلَكْنَـٰهُم بِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَأَغْرَقْنَآ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ وَكُلٌّ كَانُوا۟ ظَـٰلِمِينَ
كَدَأْبِ
kadabi
Like (the) way
ءَالِ
āli
(of) people
فِرْعَوْنَ
fir'ʿawna
(of) Firaun
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
and those who
مِن
min
(were) from
قَبْلِهِمْ
qablihim
before them
كَذَّبُوا۟
kadhabū
They denied
بِـَٔايَـٰتِ
biāyāti
(the) Signs
رَبِّهِمْ
rabbihim
(of) their Lord
فَأَهْلَكْنَـٰهُم
fa-ahlaknāhum
so We destroyed them
بِذُنُوبِهِمْ
bidhunūbihim
for their sins
وَأَغْرَقْنَآ
wa-aghraqnā
and We drowned
ءَالَ
āla
(the) people
فِرْعَوْنَ
fir'ʿawna
(of) Firaun
وَكُلٌّ
wakullun
and (they) all
كَانُوا۟
kānū
were
ظَـٰلِمِينَ
ẓālimīna
wrongdoers
[Theirs is] like the custom of the people of Pharaoh and of those before them. They denied the signs of their Lord, so We destroyed them for their sins, and We drowned the people of Pharaoh. And all [of them] were wrongdoers.

8:55
Ayah 8:55
إِنَّ شَرَّ ٱلدَّوَآبِّ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
شَرَّ
sharra
(the) worst
ٱلدَّوَآبِّ
l-dawābi
(of) the living creatures
عِندَ
ʿinda
near
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
(are) those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieve
فَهُمْ
fahum
and they
لَا
(will) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
yu'minūna
believe
Indeed, the worst of living creatures in the sight of Allāh are those who have disbelieved, and they will not [ever] believe-

8:56
Ayah 8:56
ٱلَّذِينَ عَـٰهَدتَّ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ يَنقُضُونَ عَهْدَهُمْ فِى كُلِّ مَرَّةٍ وَهُمْ لَا يَتَّقُونَ
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
Those who
عَـٰهَدتَّ
ʿāhadtta
you made a covenant
مِنْهُمْ
min'hum
with them
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
يَنقُضُونَ
yanquḍūna
they break
عَهْدَهُمْ
ʿahdahum
their covenant
فِى
[in]
كُلِّ
kulli
every
مَرَّةٍ
marratin
time
وَهُمْ
wahum
and they
لَا
(do) not
يَتَّقُونَ
yattaqūna
fear (Allah)
The ones with whom you made a treaty but then they break their pledge every time, and they do not fear Allāh.

8:57
Ayah 8:57
فَإِمَّا تَثْقَفَنَّهُمْ فِى ٱلْحَرْبِ فَشَرِّدْ بِهِم مَّنْ خَلْفَهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ
فَإِمَّا
fa-immā
So if
تَثْقَفَنَّهُمْ
tathqafannahum
you gain dominance over them
فِى
in
ٱلْحَرْبِ
l-ḥarbi
the war
فَشَرِّدْ
fasharrid
disperse
بِهِم
bihim
by them
مَّنْ
man
(those) who
خَلْفَهُمْ
khalfahum
(are) behind them
لَعَلَّهُمْ
laʿallahum
so that they may
يَذَّكَّرُونَ
yadhakkarūna
take heed
So if you, [O Muḥammad], gain dominance over them in war, disperse by [means of] them those behind them that perhaps they will be reminded.1

8:58
Ayah 8:58
وَإِمَّا تَخَافَنَّ مِن قَوْمٍ خِيَانَةً فَٱنۢبِذْ إِلَيْهِمْ عَلَىٰ سَوَآءٍ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْخَآئِنِينَ
وَإِمَّا
wa-immā
And if
تَخَافَنَّ
takhāfanna
you fear
مِن
min
from
قَوْمٍ
qawmin
a people
خِيَانَةً
khiyānatan
betrayal
فَٱنۢبِذْ
fa-inbidh
throw back
إِلَيْهِمْ
ilayhim
to them
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
on
سَوَآءٍ
sawāin
equal (terms)
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
لَا
(does) not
يُحِبُّ
yuḥibbu
love
ٱلْخَآئِنِينَ
l-khāinīna
the traitors
If you [have reason to] fear from a people betrayal, throw [their treaty] back to them, [putting you] on equal terms.1 Indeed, Allāh does not like traitors.

8:59
Ayah 8:59
وَلَا يَحْسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ سَبَقُوٓا۟ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ لَا يُعْجِزُونَ
وَلَا
walā
And (let) not
يَحْسَبَنَّ
yaḥsabanna
think
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieve
سَبَقُوٓا۟
sabaqū
they can outstrip
إِنَّهُمْ
innahum
Indeed, they
لَا
(can) not
يُعْجِزُونَ
yuʿ'jizūna
escape
And let not those who disbelieve think they will escape. Indeed, they will not cause failure [to Allāh].

8:60
Ayah 8:60
وَأَعِدُّوا۟ لَهُم مَّا ٱسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن قُوَّةٍ وَمِن رِّبَاطِ ٱلْخَيْلِ تُرْهِبُونَ بِهِۦ عَدُوَّ ٱللَّهِ وَعَدُوَّكُمْ وَءَاخَرِينَ مِن دُونِهِمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُهُمْ ۚ وَمَا تُنفِقُوا۟ مِن شَىْءٍ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ يُوَفَّ إِلَيْكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تُظْلَمُونَ
وَأَعِدُّوا۟
wa-aʿiddū
And prepare
لَهُم
lahum
for them
مَّا
whatever
ٱسْتَطَعْتُم
is'taṭaʿtum
you able (to)
مِّن
min
of
قُوَّةٍ
quwwatin
force
وَمِن
wamin
and of
رِّبَاطِ
ribāṭi
tethered
ٱلْخَيْلِ
l-khayli
horses
تُرْهِبُونَ
tur'hibūna
(to) terrify
بِهِۦ
bihi
therewith
عَدُوَّ
ʿaduwwa
(the) enemy
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَعَدُوَّكُمْ
waʿaduwwakum
and your enemy
وَءَاخَرِينَ
waākharīna
and others
مِن
min
from
دُونِهِمْ
dūnihim
besides them
لَا
not
تَعْلَمُونَهُمُ
taʿlamūnahumu
(do) you know them
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
(but) Allah
يَعْلَمُهُمْ
yaʿlamuhum
knows them
وَمَا
wamā
And whatever
تُنفِقُوا۟
tunfiqū
you spend
مِن
min
from
شَىْءٍ
shayin
(any) thing
فِى
in
سَبِيلِ
sabīli
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
يُوَفَّ
yuwaffa
it will be fully repaid
إِلَيْكُمْ
ilaykum
to you
وَأَنتُمْ
wa-antum
and you
لَا
(will) not
تُظْلَمُونَ
tuẓ'lamūna
be wronged
And prepare against them whatever you are able of power and of steeds of war1 by which you may terrify the enemy of Allāh and your enemy and others besides them whom you do not know [but] whom Allāh knows. And whatever you spend in the cause of Allāh will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be wronged.

8:61
Ayah 8:61
۞ وَإِن جَنَحُوا۟ لِلسَّلْمِ فَٱجْنَحْ لَهَا وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
وَإِن
wa-in
And if
جَنَحُوا۟
janaḥū
they incline
لِلسَّلْمِ
lilssalmi
to peace
فَٱجْنَحْ
fa-ij'naḥ
then you (also) incline
لَهَا
lahā
to it
وَتَوَكَّلْ
watawakkal
and put (your) trust
عَلَى
ʿalā
in
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed
هُوَ
huwa
He
ٱلسَّمِيعُ
l-samīʿu
(is) All-Hearer
ٱلْعَلِيمُ
l-ʿalīmu
All-Knower
And if they incline to peace, then incline to it [also] and rely upon Allāh. Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Knowing.

8:62
Ayah 8:62
وَإِن يُرِيدُوٓا۟ أَن يَخْدَعُوكَ فَإِنَّ حَسْبَكَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَيَّدَكَ بِنَصْرِهِۦ وَبِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
وَإِن
wa-in
But if
يُرِيدُوٓا۟
yurīdū
they intend
أَن
an
to
يَخْدَعُوكَ
yakhdaʿūka
deceive you
فَإِنَّ
fa-inna
then indeed
حَسْبَكَ
ḥasbaka
is sufficient for you
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
هُوَ
huwa
He
ٱلَّذِىٓ
alladhī
(is) the One Who
أَيَّدَكَ
ayyadaka
supported you
بِنَصْرِهِۦ
binaṣrihi
with His help
وَبِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
wabil-mu'minīna
and with the believers
But if they intend to deceive you - then sufficient for you is Allāh. It is He who supported you with His help and with the believers

8:63
Ayah 8:63
وَأَلَّفَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِهِمْ ۚ لَوْ أَنفَقْتَ مَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا مَّآ أَلَّفْتَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِهِمْ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ أَلَّفَ بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ
وَأَلَّفَ
wa-allafa
And He (has) put affection
بَيْنَ
bayna
between
قُلُوبِهِمْ
qulūbihim
their hearts
لَوْ
law
If
أَنفَقْتَ
anfaqta
you (had) spent
مَا
whatever
فِى
(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
جَمِيعًا
jamīʿan
all
مَّآ
not
أَلَّفْتَ
allafta
(could) you (have) put affection
بَيْنَ
bayna
between
قُلُوبِهِمْ
qulūbihim
their hearts
وَلَـٰكِنَّ
walākinna
but
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
أَلَّفَ
allafa
(has) put affection
بَيْنَهُمْ
baynahum
between them
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, He
عَزِيزٌ
ʿazīzun
(is) All-Mighty
حَكِيمٌ
ḥakīmun
All-Wise
And brought together their hearts. If you had spent all that is in the earth, you could not have brought their hearts together; but Allāh brought them together. Indeed, He is Exalted in Might and Wise.

8:64
Ayah 8:64
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ حَسْبُكَ ٱللَّهُ وَمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
yāayyuhā
O
ٱلنَّبِىُّ
l-nabiyu
Prophet
حَسْبُكَ
ḥasbuka
Sufficient for you
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
(is) Allah
وَمَنِ
wamani
and whoever
ٱتَّبَعَكَ
ittabaʿaka
follows you
مِنَ
mina
of
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
l-mu'minīna
the believers
O Prophet, sufficient for you is Allāh and for whoever follows you of the believers.

8:65
Ayah 8:65
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ حَرِّضِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَى ٱلْقِتَالِ ۚ إِن يَكُن مِّنكُمْ عِشْرُونَ صَـٰبِرُونَ يَغْلِبُوا۟ مِا۟ئَتَيْنِ ۚ وَإِن يَكُن مِّنكُم مِّا۟ئَةٌ يَغْلِبُوٓا۟ أَلْفًا مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَّا يَفْقَهُونَ
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
yāayyuhā
O
ٱلنَّبِىُّ
l-nabiyu
Prophet
حَرِّضِ
ḥarriḍi
Urge
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
l-mu'minīna
the believers
عَلَى
ʿalā
to
ٱلْقِتَالِ
l-qitāli
[the] fight
إِن
in
If
يَكُن
yakun
(there) are
مِّنكُمْ
minkum
among you
عِشْرُونَ
ʿish'rūna
twenty
صَـٰبِرُونَ
ṣābirūna
steadfast
يَغْلِبُوا۟
yaghlibū
they will overcome
مِا۟ئَتَيْنِ
mi-atayni
two hundred
وَإِن
wa-in
And if
يَكُن
yakun
(there) are
مِّنكُم
minkum
among you
مِّا۟ئَةٌ
mi-atun
a hundred
يَغْلِبُوٓا۟
yaghlibū
they will overcome
أَلْفًا
alfan
a thousand
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieve
بِأَنَّهُمْ
bi-annahum
because they
قَوْمٌ
qawmun
(are) a people
لَّا
(who do) not
يَفْقَهُونَ
yafqahūna
understand
O Prophet, urge the believers to battle. If there are among you twenty [who are] steadfast, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are among you one hundred [who are steadfast], they will overcome a thousand of those who have disbelieved because they are a people who do not understand.

8:66
Ayah 8:66
ٱلْـَٔـٰنَ خَفَّفَ ٱللَّهُ عَنكُمْ وَعَلِمَ أَنَّ فِيكُمْ ضَعْفًا ۚ فَإِن يَكُن مِّنكُم مِّا۟ئَةٌ صَابِرَةٌ يَغْلِبُوا۟ مِا۟ئَتَيْنِ ۚ وَإِن يَكُن مِّنكُمْ أَلْفٌ يَغْلِبُوٓا۟ أَلْفَيْنِ بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ مَعَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
ٱلْـَٔـٰنَ
al-āna
Now
خَفَّفَ
khaffafa
has (been) lightened
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
(by) Allah
عَنكُمْ
ʿankum
for you
وَعَلِمَ
waʿalima
and He knows
أَنَّ
anna
that
فِيكُمْ
fīkum
in you
ضَعْفًا
ḍaʿfan
(there) is weakness
فَإِن
fa-in
So if
يَكُن
yakun
(there) are
مِّنكُم
minkum
among you
مِّا۟ئَةٌ
mi-atun
a hundred
صَابِرَةٌ
ṣābiratun
steadfast
يَغْلِبُوا۟
yaghlibū
they will overcome
مِا۟ئَتَيْنِ
mi-atayni
two hundred
وَإِن
wa-in
And if
يَكُن
yakun
(there) are
مِّنكُمْ
minkum
among you
أَلْفٌ
alfun
a thousand
يَغْلِبُوٓا۟
yaghlibū
they will overcome
أَلْفَيْنِ
alfayni
two thousand
بِإِذْنِ
bi-idh'ni
with (the) permission
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
مَعَ
maʿa
(is) with
ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
l-ṣābirīna
the steadfast
Now, Allāh has lightened [the hardship] for you, and He knows that among you is weakness. So if there are from you one hundred [who are] steadfast, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are among you a thousand, they will overcome two thousand by permission of Allāh. And Allāh is with the steadfast.

8:67
Ayah 8:67
مَا كَانَ لِنَبِىٍّ أَن يَكُونَ لَهُۥٓ أَسْرَىٰ حَتَّىٰ يُثْخِنَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ تُرِيدُونَ عَرَضَ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱللَّهُ يُرِيدُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ
مَا
Not
كَانَ
kāna
is
لِنَبِىٍّ
linabiyyin
for a Prophet
أَن
an
that
يَكُونَ
yakūna
(there) should be
لَهُۥٓ
lahu
for him
أَسْرَىٰ
asrā
prisoners of war
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattā
until
يُثْخِنَ
yuth'khina
he has battled strenuously
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the land
تُرِيدُونَ
turīdūna
You desire
عَرَضَ
ʿaraḍa
(the) commodities
ٱلدُّنْيَا
l-dun'yā
(of) the world
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
but Allah
يُرِيدُ
yurīdu
desires
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ
l-ākhirata
(for you) the Hereafter
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
عَزِيزٌ
ʿazīzun
(is) All-Mighty
حَكِيمٌ
ḥakīmun
All-Wise
It is not for a prophet to have captives [of war] until he inflicts a massacre [upon Allāh's enemies] in the land. You [i.e., some Muslims] desire the commodities of this world,1 but Allāh desires [for you] the Hereafter. And Allāh is Exalted in Might and Wise.

8:68
Ayah 8:68
لَّوْلَا كِتَـٰبٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ سَبَقَ لَمَسَّكُمْ فِيمَآ أَخَذْتُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ
لَّوْلَا
lawlā
Had not
كِتَـٰبٌ
kitābun
an ordainment
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
سَبَقَ
sabaqa
preceded
لَمَسَّكُمْ
lamassakum
surely (would) have touched you
فِيمَآ
fīmā
for what
أَخَذْتُمْ
akhadhtum
you took
عَذَابٌ
ʿadhābun
a punishment
عَظِيمٌ
ʿaẓīmun
great
If not for a decree from Allāh that preceded,1 you would have been touched for what you took by a great punishment.

8:69
Ayah 8:69
فَكُلُوا۟ مِمَّا غَنِمْتُمْ حَلَـٰلًا طَيِّبًا ۚ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
فَكُلُوا۟
fakulū
So eat
مِمَّا
mimmā
from what
غَنِمْتُمْ
ghanim'tum
you got as war booty
حَلَـٰلًا
ḥalālan
lawful
طَيِّبًا
ṭayyiban
(and) good
وَٱتَّقُوا۟
wa-ittaqū
and fear
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
غَفُورٌ
ghafūrun
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌ
raḥīmun
Most Merciful
So consume what you have taken of war booty [as being] lawful and good, and fear Allāh. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.

8:70
Ayah 8:70
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ قُل لِّمَن فِىٓ أَيْدِيكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَسْرَىٰٓ إِن يَعْلَمِ ٱللَّهُ فِى قُلُوبِكُمْ خَيْرًا يُؤْتِكُمْ خَيْرًا مِّمَّآ أُخِذَ مِنكُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا
yāayyuhā
O
ٱلنَّبِىُّ
l-nabiyu
Prophet
قُل
qul
Say
لِّمَن
liman
to whoever
فِىٓ
(is) in
أَيْدِيكُم
aydīkum
your hands
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلْأَسْرَىٰٓ
l-asrā
the captives
إِن
in
If
يَعْلَمِ
yaʿlami
knows
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
فِى
in
قُلُوبِكُمْ
qulūbikum
your hearts
خَيْرًا
khayran
any good
يُؤْتِكُمْ
yu'tikum
He will give you
خَيْرًا
khayran
better
مِّمَّآ
mimmā
than what
أُخِذَ
ukhidha
was taken
مِنكُمْ
minkum
from you
وَيَغْفِرْ
wayaghfir
and He will forgive
لَكُمْ
lakum
you
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
غَفُورٌ
ghafūrun
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌ
raḥīmun
Most Merciful
O Prophet, say to whoever is in your hands of the captives, "If Allāh knows [any] good in your hearts, He will give you [something] better than what was taken from you, and He will forgive you; and Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful."

8:71
Ayah 8:71
وَإِن يُرِيدُوا۟ خِيَانَتَكَ فَقَدْ خَانُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مِن قَبْلُ فَأَمْكَنَ مِنْهُمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ
وَإِن
wa-in
But if
يُرِيدُوا۟
yurīdū
they intend
خِيَانَتَكَ
khiyānataka
(to) betray you
فَقَدْ
faqad
certainly
خَانُوا۟
khānū
they have betrayed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
مِن
min
from
قَبْلُ
qablu
before
فَأَمْكَنَ
fa-amkana
So He gave (you) power
مِنْهُمْ
min'hum
over them
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
عَلِيمٌ
ʿalīmun
(is) All-Knower
حَكِيمٌ
ḥakīmun
All-Wise
But if they intend to betray you - then they have already betrayed Allāh before, and He empowered [you] over them. And Allāh is Knowing and Wise.

8:72
Ayah 8:72
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَهَاجَرُوا۟ وَجَـٰهَدُوا۟ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَاوَوا۟ وَّنَصَرُوٓا۟ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءُ بَعْضٍ ۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَلَمْ يُهَاجِرُوا۟ مَا لَكُم مِّن وَلَـٰيَتِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍ حَتَّىٰ يُهَاجِرُوا۟ ۚ وَإِنِ ٱسْتَنصَرُوكُمْ فِى ٱلدِّينِ فَعَلَيْكُمُ ٱلنَّصْرُ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍۭ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُم مِّيثَـٰقٌ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanū
believed
وَهَاجَرُوا۟
wahājarū
and emigrated
وَجَـٰهَدُوا۟
wajāhadū
and strove hard
بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ
bi-amwālihim
with their wealth
وَأَنفُسِهِمْ
wa-anfusihim
and their lives
فِى
in
سَبِيلِ
sabīli
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
and those who
ءَاوَوا۟
āwaw
gave shelter
وَّنَصَرُوٓا۟
wanaṣarū
and helped
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
those
بَعْضُهُمْ
baʿḍuhum
some of them
أَوْلِيَآءُ
awliyāu
(are) allies
بَعْضٍ
baʿḍin
(of) another
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
But those who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanū
believed
وَلَمْ
walam
and (did) not
يُهَاجِرُوا۟
yuhājirū
emigrate
مَا
(it is) not
لَكُم
lakum
for you
مِّن
min
(of)
وَلَـٰيَتِهِم
walāyatihim
their protection
مِّن
min
(in)
شَىْءٍ
shayin
(in) anything
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattā
until
يُهَاجِرُوا۟
yuhājirū
they emigrate
وَإِنِ
wa-ini
And if
ٱسْتَنصَرُوكُمْ
is'tanṣarūkum
they seek your help
فِى
in
ٱلدِّينِ
l-dīni
the religion
فَعَلَيْكُمُ
faʿalaykumu
then upon you
ٱلنَّصْرُ
l-naṣru
(is to) help them
إِلَّا
illā
except
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
against
قَوْمٍۭ
qawmin
a people
بَيْنَكُمْ
baynakum
between you
وَبَيْنَهُم
wabaynahum
and between them
مِّيثَـٰقٌ
mīthāqun
(is) a treaty
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
بِمَا
bimā
of what
تَعْمَلُونَ
taʿmalūna
you do
بَصِيرٌ
baṣīrun
(is) All-Seer
Indeed, those who have believed and emigrated and fought with their wealth and lives in the cause of Allāh and those who gave shelter and aided - they are allies of one another. But those who believed and did not emigrate - for you there is no support of them until they emigrate. And if they seek help of you for the religion, then you must help, except against a people between yourselves and whom is a treaty. And Allāh is Seeing of what you do.

8:73
Ayah 8:73
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءُ بَعْضٍ ۚ إِلَّا تَفْعَلُوهُ تَكُن فِتْنَةٌ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَفَسَادٌ كَبِيرٌ
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
And those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieve
بَعْضُهُمْ
baʿḍuhum
some of them
أَوْلِيَآءُ
awliyāu
(are) allies
بَعْضٍ
baʿḍin
(to) another
إِلَّا
illā
If not
تَفْعَلُوهُ
tafʿalūhu
you do it
تَكُن
takun
(there) will be
فِتْنَةٌ
fit'natun
oppression
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
l-arḍi
the earth
وَفَسَادٌ
wafasādun
and corruption
كَبِيرٌ
kabīrun
great
And those who disbelieved are allies of one another. If you do not do so [i.e., ally yourselves with other believers], there will be fitnah [i.e., disbelief and oppression] on earth and great corruption.

8:74
Ayah 8:74
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَهَاجَرُوا۟ وَجَـٰهَدُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَاوَوا۟ وَّنَصَرُوٓا۟ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ حَقًّا ۚ لَّهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَرِزْقٌ كَرِيمٌ
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
And those who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanū
believed
وَهَاجَرُوا۟
wahājarū
and emigrated
وَجَـٰهَدُوا۟
wajāhadū
and strove hard
فِى
in
سَبِيلِ
sabīli
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
and those who
ءَاوَوا۟
āwaw
gave shelter
وَّنَصَرُوٓا۟
wanaṣarū
and helped
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
those
هُمُ
humu
they (are)
ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
l-mu'minūna
the believers
حَقًّا
ḥaqqan
(in) truth
لَّهُم
lahum
For them
مَّغْفِرَةٌ
maghfiratun
(is) forgiveness
وَرِزْقٌ
wariz'qun
and a provision
كَرِيمٌ
karīmun
noble
But those who have believed and emigrated and fought in the cause of Allāh and those who gave shelter and aided - it is they who are the believers, truly. For them is forgiveness and noble provision.

8:75
Ayah 8:75
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدُ وَهَاجَرُوا۟ وَجَـٰهَدُوا۟ مَعَكُمْ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ مِنكُمْ ۚ وَأُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَرْحَامِ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلَىٰ بِبَعْضٍ فِى كِتَـٰبِ ٱللَّهِ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌۢ
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhīna
And those who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanū
believed
مِنۢ
min
from
بَعْدُ
baʿdu
afterwards
وَهَاجَرُوا۟
wahājarū
and emigrated
وَجَـٰهَدُوا۟
wajāhadū
and strove hard
مَعَكُمْ
maʿakum
with you
فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
fa-ulāika
then those
مِنكُمْ
minkum
(are) of you
وَأُو۟لُوا۟
wa-ulū
But those
ٱلْأَرْحَامِ
l-arḥāmi
(of) blood relationship
بَعْضُهُمْ
baʿḍuhum
some of them
أَوْلَىٰ
awlā
(are) nearer
بِبَعْضٍ
bibaʿḍin
to another
فِى
in
كِتَـٰبِ
kitābi
(the) Book
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
بِكُلِّ
bikulli
of every
شَىْءٍ
shayin
thing
عَلِيمٌۢ
ʿalīmun
(is) All-Knower
And those who believed after [the initial emigration] and emigrated and fought with you - they are of you. But those of [blood] relationship are more entitled [to inheritance] in the decree of Allāh.1 Indeed, Allāh is Knowing of all things.
