87:1
Ayah 87:1
سَبِّحِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ ٱلْأَعْلَى
سَبِّحِ
sabbiḥi
Glorify
ٱسْمَ
is'ma
(the) name
رَبِّكَ
rabbika
(of) your Lord
ٱلْأَعْلَى
l-aʿlā
the Most High
Exalt the name of your Lord, the Most High,
— The Clear Quran, Dr. Mustafa Khattab
87:2
Ayah 87:2
ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
The One Who
خَلَقَ
khalaqa
created
فَسَوَّىٰ
fasawwā
then proportioned
Who created and proportioned
— The Clear Quran, Dr. Mustafa Khattab
87:3
Ayah 87:3
وَٱلَّذِى قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ
وَٱلَّذِى
wa-alladhī
And the One Who
قَدَّرَ
qaddara
measured
فَهَدَىٰ
fahadā
then guided
And who destined and [then] guided
— The Clear Quran, Dr. Mustafa Khattab
87:4
Ayah 87:4
وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَخْرَجَ ٱلْمَرْعَىٰ
وَٱلَّذِىٓ
wa-alladhī
And the One Who
أَخْرَجَ
akhraja
brings forth
ٱلْمَرْعَىٰ
l-marʿā
the pasture
And who brings out the pasture
— The Clear Quran, Dr. Mustafa Khattab
87:5
Ayah 87:5
فَجَعَلَهُۥ غُثَآءً أَحْوَىٰ
فَجَعَلَهُۥ
fajaʿalahu
And then makes it
غُثَآءً
ghuthāan
stubble
أَحْوَىٰ
aḥwā
dark
And [then] makes it black stubble.

87:6
Ayah 87:6
سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰٓ
سَنُقْرِئُكَ
sanuq'ri-uka
We will make you recite
فَلَا
falā
so not
تَنسَىٰٓ
tansā
you will forget
We will make you recite, [O Muḥammad], and you will not forget,

87:7
Ayah 87:7
إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ
إِلَّا
illā
Except
مَا
mā
what
شَآءَ
shāa
wills
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed, He
يَعْلَمُ
yaʿlamu
knows
ٱلْجَهْرَ
l-jahra
the manifest
وَمَا
wamā
and what
يَخْفَىٰ
yakhfā
is hidden
Except what Allāh should will. Indeed, He knows what is declared and what is hidden.

87:8
Ayah 87:8
وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ
وَنُيَسِّرُكَ
wanuyassiruka
And We will ease you
لِلْيُسْرَىٰ
lil'yus'rā
to the ease
And We will ease you toward ease.1

87:9
Ayah 87:9
فَذَكِّرْ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ
فَذَكِّرْ
fadhakkir
So remind
إِن
in
if
نَّفَعَتِ
nafaʿati
benefits
ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ
l-dhik'rā
the reminder
So remind, if the reminder should benefit;1

87:10
Ayah 87:10
سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰ
سَيَذَّكَّرُ
sayadhakkaru
He will pay heed
مَن
man
(one) who
يَخْشَىٰ
yakhshā
fears (Allah)
He who fears [Allāh] will be reminded.

87:11
Ayah 87:11
وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَشْقَى
وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا
wayatajannabuhā
And will avoid it
ٱلْأَشْقَى
l-ashqā
the wretched one
But the wretched one will avoid it

87:12
Ayah 87:12
ٱلَّذِى يَصْلَى ٱلنَّارَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
The one who
يَصْلَى
yaṣlā
will burn
ٱلنَّارَ
l-nāra
(in) the Fire
ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
l-kub'rā
[the] great
[He] who will [enter and] burn in the greatest Fire,

87:13
Ayah 87:13
ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
لَا
lā
not
يَمُوتُ
yamūtu
he will die
فِيهَا
fīhā
therein
وَلَا
walā
and not
يَحْيَىٰ
yaḥyā
will live
Neither dying therein nor living.

87:14
Ayah 87:14
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ
قَدْ
qad
Certainly
أَفْلَحَ
aflaḥa
has succeeded
مَن
man
(one) who
تَزَكَّىٰ
tazakkā
purifies (himself)
He has certainly succeeded who purifies himself

87:15
Ayah 87:15
وَذَكَرَ ٱسْمَ رَبِّهِۦ فَصَلَّىٰ
وَذَكَرَ
wadhakara
And remembers
ٱسْمَ
is'ma
(the) name
رَبِّهِۦ
rabbihi
(of) his Lord
فَصَلَّىٰ
faṣallā
and prays
And mentions the name of his Lord and prays.

87:16
Ayah 87:16
بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا
بَلْ
bal
Nay
تُؤْثِرُونَ
tu'thirūna
You prefer
ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ
l-ḥayata
the life
ٱلدُّنْيَا
l-dun'yā
(of) the world
But you prefer the worldly life,
— The Clear Quran, Dr. Mustafa Khattab
87:17
Ayah 87:17
وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ
وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ
wal-ākhiratu
While the Hereafter
خَيْرٌ
khayrun
(is) better
وَأَبْقَىٰٓ
wa-abqā
and everlasting
While the Hereafter is better and more enduring.

87:18
Ayah 87:18
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَفِى ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
هَـٰذَا
hādhā
this
لَفِى
lafī
surely (is) in
ٱلصُّحُفِ
l-ṣuḥufi
the Scriptures
ٱلْأُولَىٰ
l-ūlā
[the] former
Indeed, this is in the former scriptures,
— The Clear Quran, Dr. Mustafa Khattab
87:19
Ayah 87:19
صُحُفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ
صُحُفِ
ṣuḥufi
(The) Scriptures
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
ib'rāhīma
(of) Ibrahim
وَمُوسَىٰ
wamūsā
and Musa
The scriptures of Abraham and Moses.
