98:1
Ayah 98:1
لَمْ يَكُنِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ مُنفَكِّينَ حَتَّىٰ تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَةُ
لَمْ
lam
Not
يَكُنِ
yakuni
were
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieved
مِنْ
min
from
أَهْلِ
ahli
(the) People
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
l-kitābi
of the Book
وَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
wal-mush'rikīna
and the polytheists
مُنفَكِّينَ
munfakkīna
to be abandoned
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattā
until
تَأْتِيَهُمُ
tatiyahumu
(there) comes to them
ٱلْبَيِّنَةُ
l-bayinatu
the clear evidence
Those who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists were not to be parted [from misbelief]1 until there came to them clear evidence

98:2
Ayah 98:2
رَسُولٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ يَتْلُوا۟ صُحُفًا مُّطَهَّرَةً
رَسُولٌ
rasūlun
A Messenger
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
Allah
يَتْلُوا۟
yatlū
reciting
صُحُفًا
ṣuḥufan
pages
مُّطَهَّرَةً
muṭahharatan
purified
A Messenger from Allāh, reciting purified1 scriptures

98:3
Ayah 98:3
فِيهَا كُتُبٌ قَيِّمَةٌ
فِيهَا
fīhā
Wherein
كُتُبٌ
kutubun
(are) writings
قَيِّمَةٌ
qayyimatun
correct
Within which are correct writings [i.e., rulings and laws].

98:4
Ayah 98:4
وَمَا تَفَرَّقَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَتْهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَةُ
وَمَا
wamā
And not
تَفَرَّقَ
tafarraqa
became divided
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
أُوتُوا۟
ūtū
were given
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ
l-kitāba
the Book
إِلَّا
illā
until
مِنۢ
min
from
بَعْدِ
baʿdi
after
مَا
mā
what
جَآءَتْهُمُ
jāathumu
came (to) them
ٱلْبَيِّنَةُ
l-bayinatu
(of) the clear evidence
Nor did those who were given the Scripture become divided1 until after there had come to them clear evidence.

98:5
Ayah 98:5
وَمَآ أُمِرُوٓا۟ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ حُنَفَآءَ وَيُقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤْتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ دِينُ ٱلْقَيِّمَةِ
وَمَآ
wamā
And not
أُمِرُوٓا۟
umirū
they were commanded
إِلَّا
illā
except
لِيَعْبُدُوا۟
liyaʿbudū
to worship
ٱللَّهَ
l-laha
Allah
مُخْلِصِينَ
mukh'liṣīna
(being) sincere
لَهُ
lahu
to Him
ٱلدِّينَ
l-dīna
(in) the religion
حُنَفَآءَ
ḥunafāa
upright
وَيُقِيمُوا۟
wayuqīmū
and to establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
l-ṣalata
the prayer
وَيُؤْتُوا۟
wayu'tū
and to give
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
l-zakata
the zakah
وَذَٰلِكَ
wadhālika
And that
دِينُ
dīnu
(is the) religion
ٱلْقَيِّمَةِ
l-qayimati
the correct
And they were not commanded except to worship Allāh, [being] sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer and to give zakāh. And that is the correct religion.

98:6
Ayah 98:6
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ فِى نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمْ شَرُّ ٱلْبَرِيَّةِ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieve
مِنْ
min
from
أَهْلِ
ahli
(the) People
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
l-kitābi
(of) the Book
وَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
wal-mush'rikīna
and the polytheists
فِى
fī
(will be) in
نَارِ
nāri
(the) Fire
جَهَنَّمَ
jahannama
(of) Hell
خَـٰلِدِينَ
khālidīna
abiding eternally
فِيهَآ
fīhā
therein
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
Those
هُمْ
hum
they
شَرُّ
sharru
(are the) worst
ٱلْبَرِيَّةِ
l-bariyati
(of) the creatures
Indeed, they who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists will be in the fire of Hell, abiding eternally therein. Those are the worst of creatures.

98:7
Ayah 98:7
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمْ خَيْرُ ٱلْبَرِيَّةِ
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanū
believe
وَعَمِلُوا۟
waʿamilū
and do
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ
l-ṣāliḥāti
righteous deeds
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ
ulāika
those
هُمْ
hum
they
خَيْرُ
khayru
(are the) best
ٱلْبَرِيَّةِ
l-bariyati
(of) the creatures
Indeed, they who have believed and done righteous deeds - those are the best of creatures.

98:8
Ayah 98:8
جَزَآؤُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّـٰتُ عَدْنٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا ۖ رَّضِىَ ٱللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا۟ عَنْهُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنْ خَشِىَ رَبَّهُۥ
جَزَآؤُهُمْ
jazāuhum
Their reward
عِندَ
ʿinda
(is) with
رَبِّهِمْ
rabbihim
their Lord
جَنَّـٰتُ
jannātu
Gardens
عَدْنٍ
ʿadnin
(of) Eternity
تَجْرِى
tajrī
flow
مِن
min
from
تَحْتِهَا
taḥtihā
underneath them
ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ
l-anhāru
the rivers
خَـٰلِدِينَ
khālidīna
will abide
فِيهَآ
fīhā
therein
أَبَدًا
abadan
forever
رَّضِىَ
raḍiya
(will be) pleased
ٱللَّهُ
l-lahu
Allah
عَنْهُمْ
ʿanhum
with them
وَرَضُوا۟
waraḍū
and they (will be) pleased
عَنْهُ
ʿanhu
with Him
ذَٰلِكَ
dhālika
That
لِمَنْ
liman
(is) for whoever
خَشِىَ
khashiya
feared
رَبَّهُۥ
rabbahu
his Lord
Their reward with their Lord will be gardens of perpetual residence beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever, Allāh being pleased with them and they with Him. That is for whoever has feared his Lord.
